Great website and information about a local company run by CalPoly graduates. We are seniors looking to update our landscape and find knowledgeable people to maintain it because we cant any more. Of course, enhance our property value also. The first meeting was a good one. Professional proposal for plans received. All in-house 20 employees!

As an architect, the Purlieu team is an absolute joy to work with. I worked with Michael and his design team on a handful of projects, but one in particular really stood out. After meeting with my clients at Purlieus office to discuss a large-scale landscape program for their custom home, my clients both commented how they felt like Michael was able to really understand what they wanted, as if they had worked together for years. Michaels team are talented designers, incredibly easy to work with, and really know their stuff. I cant recommend them enough!

I chose to work with Purlieu Landscaping largely due to my initial interaction with Michael Vogt. I was immediately impressed by his talent, demeanor and integrity. After working with others with their business I saw that those qualities permeated throughout their entire organization. Taylor Boyle, who makes the design happen, is a master craftsman and pays attention to every detail. Working with those two gentlemen was the best choice I ve made in my move from the LA area and making SLO my home! I was delighted to have my yard completed, but sad to see the guys leave.

And their bid for the work was very detailed, transparent and fair. Although we used a friend to do the actual install of the landscape, both Taylor and Michael were helpful and willing to answer any lingering questions we had about the design. We are very happy we chose Purlieu to design our half-acre landscape. We cant imagine it any better!

Highly recommend the Purlieu team! They transformed our unusable backyard into a beautiful and modern outdoor living and entertaining space (complete w/concrete patio, wooden deck w/gas fire pit and new fence and landscaping). The Purlieu team designed and installed a beautiful landscape in our San Luis Obispo backyard three years ago. They consulted closely with us, the homeowners, at every step and responded well to our desires and suggestions. It was an ambitious project involving a steeply sloping property. Visitors continue to compliment us on the landscape. We chose to hire Purlieu for ongoing landscape maintenance and after three years we remain very satisfied with the care they are taking of not only the Purlieu-installed landscape but also the remainder of our property. The maintenance team are skilled and dependable, and take initiative, proposing tasks but not proceeding without consultation with us. I hired Pulieu Landscapes to do a major overhaul of a large outdoor space in our winerys visitor area. I had specific ideas of how I wanted to make the space more usable for outside sit down tastings. They were able to take our needs and transform them into a beautiful garden area with a native California landscape feel. Purlieu designed our backyard and finished the landscape. They are honest, courteous, patient, communicative and professional. Everyone has a positive and pleasant attitude. Michael is the first person we met from Purlieu and he did an amazing job by turning the instagram posts, or random ideas, & a lot of undecided items into a blueprint that we were both ecstatic about. The bid is very transparent (line item details) and the payment plan very straightforward. The construction crew was great, my kids were sad to see them go and frequently took popsicles out to them. The maintenance crew has kept everything looking good. Very happy customers and ready to start the next portion of the project.

Over my families journey through six states and 19 homes, Purlieu stands out as one of the best in terms of communications skills. They were always responsive on the day you made a request. I also found their design services to be thoughtful and insightful. Lead designer, Michael Vogt, walk our property and answered every questions and excelled in listening. Once we had our well s main line to irrigation break and after they broke through four inches of concrete and four feet of soil they located the leak, fixed the break and within days repaired the concrete walk. Without Purlieu, we simply couldn t have a garden or landscaping. Our domestic water comes from a well, and since the well has failed in dry years, we do not use it for irrigation. Taylor Boyle (now principal at Purlieu) put in a rainwater harvesting system for us, and Purlieu has maintained it now for 5 years. We catch the rain that falls on our metal rooves (house and garage), with screens over the gutters to prevent leaves and whatnot from being washed into the system; the water flows into a first-flush tank that catches any remaining debris, and is pumped from there to storage tanks. Even with the irregular rains of this year (2017-2018), we have 35,000 gallons of stored rainwater--enough to keep our landscape and vegetable garden thriving on drip irrigation until next year s rains. The catchment system is efficient enough that even fog in early spring and summer mornings replenishes the water stores. As with any dynamic system, there are occasional problems (pumps can fail, seals can leak), and Purlieu has always been extremely responsive, both in coming out to address issues, and in teaching us to understand, monitor and maintain the system.

Purlieu is wonderful and has done a great job with my in laws property. This company has been a pleasure to deal with. They have been prompt and professional and have even given great advice as to what kinds of trees would thrive best in the yard. I would absolutely recommend them and all of their services, and will continue to have them for all our landscaping needs. They really seem to value their customers and I appreciate that. Thank you!

Purlieu! Okay. I have to say I really like these guys. From the preliminary design phase with Michael and how patient he was, to the budget process with Taylor where we found the balance between the dream yard and what we could afford, to the construction process with much of the company where we were hampered by rains and other delays but the updates were regular and finally to the maintenance period with Dock where they have stayed on top of the needs of the yard as the plants matured. Were they perfect? Absolutely not. But they stood by their work and made things right whenever and wherever needed. I would highly recommend them. The quality of the work was fantastic and they were able to deliver the finishing touch on our home very effectively with minimal frustrations. Keep up the great work guys.
