Carlos Landscaping in Champaign

Carlos is great to work and we were very happy with the quality of work that was done. Don’t hesitate to use Carlos on your landscaping project.

Got recommended Carlos from a properly manager in town for some work getting a tree removed. He was there on site a day after I reached out, very reasonable and we negotiated a good price, then as promised he had his team out the next day and finished the work in the time he quoted. We hired Carlos Landscaping in summer 2021 to install a paver patio, pour a concrete slab, and do some landscaping. While the lower cost and ability to start the project quickly were factors that led us to go with Carlos, hindsight of almost a year since the work was completed has us regretting this choice. Below are some issues we had with Carlos. 1. Communication: Carlos was initially eager and responsive as we made a decision about hiring a landscaper. During the early part of the project, he would communicate mostly via text and site visits. As the project dragged on, we saw and heard less and less of him. By August-September, his communication was abysmal (the project began in May). 2. Estimate: Get everything in writing. Demand a detailed estimate. Carlos expects some payment in advance, which is reasonable to secure materials. However, he pressured us to pay in full before the project was completed. The more money we paid, seemingly the lower priority we became. 3. Timeliness/organization: The project lagged from May-September for work that should have taken a few weeks at most. It was apparent we were not a priority. 4. Workmanship: The quality of work has not stood up over 1 year. The concrete slab has already broke and displacement is occurring. The patio has low spots where water ponds. This might be expected over time, but not less than 1 year after project completion. They also lost an element of the project that we procured and they failed to replace it. 5. Warranty: Carlos will state that his work is under warranty for 1 year after the completion of the project. Good luck trying to get him to respond. He has not stood behind his work. In short, you get what you pay for. A lesson learned the hard way for us; words of caution for those considering Carlos Landscaping.

Outstanding company. Carlos knows his business and is extremely professional. Our new brick patio was done in a timely manner and is beautiful. As our neighbor joked, “Are you trying to show up your neighbors?” You won’t regret hiring Carlos for your hardscaping project.

Carlos came in one day & provided an estimate on a tree cutting; arrived next day & performed work; & was done & gone with excellent cleanup in less than 5 hours. Will use Carlos' business again! Very responsive & professionally polite.

Carlos and his team did great work building a walkway out of paving stones at our house. Beautiful, affordable work, done in a timely fashion. Highly recommended!
