This is the second time we used Richard's Tree Service, the first time they did an amazing job hence I called them back a few years later. They are reasonable with the prices. They are not the least expensive, but you get what you pay for. Fully licensed and insured. They have all the right equipment to tackle big trees. The crews are very profesional, they show up on time, do very good work on the trees and they clean up everything. The crews are friendly and they listen to what I wanted done. I will be using them again in the future, I HIGHLY recommend them.

Richard's Tree Service was recommended by a local nursery to remove a dead tree stump in preparation for a new tree I was going to have planted. The tree stump I needed to have removed was a 2-3 year old Japanese Maple that died and that I previously cut down. The stump was about 7" high and about the size of my fist. Unfortunately, having just undergone spine surgery, I couldn't remove this myself. Considering Richard's came highly and personally recommended by the nursery staff, and because their website indicates they do "expert tree removal regardless of size and location" I figured I'd give them a call. I called them on Tuesday at 8:15am and spoke to "Ron." Ron told me it sounded like a simple job. I explained my spine situation to him. Regarding the job, Ron said, "Sounds like you need to just get a shovel and dig it out." Ron said he'd check and get back to me. I didn't hear back from him at all the rest of the day. I called them back the next day, Wednesday, at 9:25am after waiting over 24-hours. Ron answered again. I told Ron I had spoken with him the day prior but never heard back from him. He responded, "Oh ya, I talked to the owner and he said it wouldn't be cost effective to send out a crew for such a small job. We'd recommend just hiring a gardener or landscaper to do the job." Frustrated by the inconsistency in what I was being told compared to the recommendation I received and their assertion on their own website that they handle jobs "regardless of size," I asked Ron exactly how much we were talking cost wise to send out a crew. Ron couldn't provide me a price. I asked Ron if I could speak to the owner and he told me he was not available. I asked Ron if the owner could please call me to discuss and Ron said he'd have him call me back. Today is Friday afternoon. I have not received a call back from the owner, Ron, or anyone else at Richard's Tree Service. Apparently they are not interested in serving community members with jobs they deem too small. My advice? Don't waste your time trying to get a quote from them. I reached out to another local tree service in our area yesterday morning. This morning a representative from the company came out and bid the job. This afternoon their crew came out and removed the tree stump and roots. The price was insanely reasonable and I didn't risk re-injuring my back. Avoid Richard's Tree Service and explore other options. They only are interested in large jobs.
We had to have one of our favorite trees trimmed, as the large branches were showing signs of splitting and leaning toward our house and over the road. Richard's crew did an incredible job of removing two huge branches and cabling the remaining three. The guys paid close attention to trimming the tree and shaping it. They were so efficient and kept the site clean. My wife and I were impressed with the professionalism and the care that was taken to explain the process. One of the guys even showed us the type of cable used and described how it worked. We feel safer and the tree looks fantastic!
We recently had Richard's Tree Service trim a few of our trees. They were on time, did a fantastic job, and cleaned everything up. The workers were friendly and helpful! They are the only tree company I will use! Oh and after our neighbor saw the job they did for us, he hired them too!
Richard’s Tree service is amazing. They just removed 5 large trees and pruned back another, which were over hanging my roof and in very difficult places to remove. They were thorough , careful, polite and super easy to work with. Mark was always happy to give me suggestions and advice. You could not choose a better tree service. Richard s Tree Service sent us their crew today with David plus two assistants and accomplished an amazing pruning of two 50 year old Modesto Ash trees which had been neglected for years. Cant give a quote without gossiping with the neighbors. No thanks. If you cant give quote and talk to the person asking for the quote and about what the job is then I am not able to hire you. Really this company was unable to determine what they would quote us un less they would talk to every neighbor involved. Its not appropriate. They needed to evaluate the tree based on what the CUSTOMER was requesting. Not what the neighborhood wanted. We all know the neighbors want the tree completely gone. Budget and the health of the tree do not equate what the neighbors are requesting.. so that is a great*** (sarcastic) idea that they need to talk to the neighbors. Let me just take out a second loan to have the whole tree taken out based in what the neighborhood gossip is.
They responded quickly to my questions when other companies did not, and they did a great job taking out 4 stumps for us.

Worst customer service. Set an appointment, because we had to take down a part of our fence. They never showed and never answered our phone calls.

Just had Richards Tree Service out on a fairly large job cutting down 6 large Liquid Amber trees at my house here in south Yuba City. They did an amazing job all the workers were friendly and polite. They cleaned up when the job was complete not just around the trees but went the extra mile which my wife and I appreciated very much. Cant say enough good things about them Id highly recommend them ! Chose them like we did and you will quickly see why theyve been in business for 60 years ! A++ Job
I had four quotes done for a tree service job I needed it in my backyard. Richard s blee everybody out of the water get all your other quotes first then have him give you a quote. He did a great job. I will be referring him to friends and family.

NOT LIABLE FOR DAMAGE TO SPRINKLER SYSTEMS! So we had a diseased cut down by richards tree service. Everything went smooth until the stump was remaining. We opted for a stump grinding. The tree was a small diseased white birch that probably could dug out myself. The stump grinder rolled onto our lawn smashing a sprinkler head. He then proceeded to cut the stump out. I thought everything went smooth until i looked down and saw he had sawed through about 1.5 feet of sprinkler pipes. I wasnt very happy about it but hopeful the Richards would make it right. The man that grinded my stump could barely speak English and kept pointing to the invoice in small print saying we arent liable for any sprinkler system damage. This was clear negligence from the grinder because of how obvious it was where the lines were ran. We called Richards to see if there was something they could do. The person on the phone seemed understanding and said they wouldnt run our credit card until we spoke to the owner who would be calling us shortly. The next day the credit card was ran and still havent received a phone call. My neighbor told me he uses tree tech and whatever they damage they fix and make it right by the owner after watching me struggle for hours putting in a sprinkler line.
Neighbor had tree work, made no effort to make sure branches cleared my rosebushes or sprinklers.
This company may do a good job but only if you can get them to respond. I called and arranged for an estimate in June. I accepted their offer but they said that they couldnt do the job for 6 or 7 weeks. No problem for me. After 8 weeks without any contact I called again. They first couldnt find my job order and then finally located it. They promised a call back during the next day to schedule the work, but nothing occurred. After another week without a call I gave up and went with another company. They must not need the work but their lack of follow up is inexcusable.

Called them on a Friday evening and they would have sent a crew that night if necessary. A 30 inch limb fell on my home and covered 30 % of my roof. First thing Saturday morning, a 6 man PROFESSIONAL team showed up, crane, boom lift,chipper and TEAM WORK. It was awesome to watch.GREAT SERVICE, friendly. I wouldnt consider anyone else.
A Horrible just A horrible experience! Richards tree service should be ashamed, The tree that they were going to remove was between the two houses my neighbor hire them and wanted access on my side of the yard , well on my side they left a mess everywhere, they broke my daughters plants they broke couple branches out of my tree just a horrible experience the house was empty and they took advantage of that to leave a horrible mess ,we arrived from work when they were gone to find my yard a disaster ,I will never recommend this company ever.
My neighbor hired this company, Richards Tree Service, and they were very careless when they were cutting the branches from their tree. They dropped a bunch of branches many times our plants and they cut and broke branches on our own tree that was 20 feet away. But instead of saying something, they covered it up and left. We know for sure we know who not to go to when we have tree problems.
I had a 40 foot nightmare with deep roots in my front yard on Cecilia. They came exactly when they said they would, did more than they said they would and didnt even leave any trace that there was a tree there! A+++ service! If you want it done right the first time, get Richards Tree Service

Richards Tree Service has trimmed my huge curbside Sycamore tree and my five Bradford Pear trees for many years. They are the nicest looking trees in the neighborhood. Once the job is complete, the yard and street are tidy, with all trimmings, dust and leaves removed. Richards is reliable and professional. No cut corners. Great people.
**update** Richards Tree service came out with a big crew and pruned my palms for half price because of the delay. I signed a contract in November 2016 to have my Queen Palms pruned and skirted and still havent got my trees pruned. I called on Monday, March 13th and was told my contract was on top of the boss desk and I would get a call soon. Its Saturday and still no call. Frustrated and looking elsewhere!

We had 3 large liquid Amber trees fully trimmed and will be calling them back for scheduling our other trees. These guys are amazing. We had three huge, horrible china berry trees in our backyard. They were ruining our patio and causing a never ending mess. It had long been on our wishlist to have them removed, but we didnt think we could afford it. Richards Tree Service came out, gave us a fair quote and soon we were scheduled. I cant say enough about what an amazing job they did. They finished the entire job in less than 4 hours. We live in a cul-de-sac and they expertly accessed our backyard trees from the front. When they were done they cleaned up the whole area, as if they had never been there. Including all those awful china berries. The whole time they were there, the guys had smiles a mile wide. It was almost as if they were just as happy as I was to get these trees gone. It truly felt like they cared. Once they left, even our neighbors were commenting on what an amazing job these guys did in such a short amount of time. Really, so truly impressed and pleased with them. From the customer service all the way to a job superbly done. Highly recommended, thank you so much.
I have had Richards Tree Service remove several of our trees over the years. I just had them remove a dead tree in our backyard. When they came out they gave us a great price and cleaned up after cutting the tree down.The staff in the office and in the field our friendly, and helpful. Great job thank you

Terrible customer service, waited a month for your call back about an estimate. Then told them my avability, said oh we will call back tomorrow and tell you what day we will come. So they never called, I had to call and then wait another week. Yeah right, Ill go with another company!
Our Commercial Site Service Company had contracted Richard s Tree Service to trim the trees at a large Shopping Center in Folsom, CA for our client. They did a fabulous job which made our firm look good. While Richard s Tree Service was on site, the City inspector complemented them on their work and asked RTS to get on their bid list so they could be included in future bid/contract work for the City.
