The guys are of highest caliber. I made a special request for them to place the filled weed bags near my driveway, which is not at the front of my house, and is the only place where the trash people will pick up items for you. I was very pleased with the work that Jamison and Joey did for me at my church. They worked non-stop for the 3 hours, even after I suggested they take a 5-minute break. They were doing the hard work for me. I sure appreciated it and several noticed/mentioned how much better the flower beds looked. And it made it easier for me to plant flowers a few days later--6.5 hours of it. I will hire His Workmanship again when I need them.

The only disappointment was they were 15 minutes late and didnt stay the entire 3 hours. They werent finished but I also knew they couldnt do all the work because there was so much to do around the yard. The work they did complete was very good.

This is my 3rd year using His Workmanship. The young man that worked in my yard was amazing. I was not able to stay at the house while work was being done. The young man sent me pictures with updates on the yard progress. He made sure that the work he was doing was what I wanted. I have a large yard and there was a lot of work accomplished. 3 large fountain grasses cut back, mulch laid, replaced landscaping blocks and cleared the yard of debris. I will continue to utilize this company.

One person showed up late. They did not bring any wheelbarrow for mulching, although they knew that they had to put mulch down. After working for three hours, with only 1/3 job done, they wanted to get paid and left. Very unprofessional and undependable. Wasted my money, and will have to hire a professional to finish the incomplete job. Never use them again.

This was a great experience for us. We are unable to lay the mulch ourselves and didn t want to pay as much as the landscaper wanted for this job. The two students who did the work were polite, on-time and followed all directions. We will use this service again.

The crew was polite, on time, and hardworking. They accomplished a lot in a 4 hour window! This was a good value.

I had two college students work on my yard. They were on time, engaging and a did good job. You need to make sure you have larger tools for them. I don t know how they would have completed the work if I didn t have a wheel barrel and large shovel. They brought regular shovels and straight rakes. I offered three days after the mulch was delivered to come complete the work and the service wanted to schedule on the day the mulch was delivered which added some uncertainty due to timing of the mulch delivery, but it all worked out.

Exceptional quality work! My yard looks fabulous. The best part: they lined up the shrubs in a perfect line, something I was unable to do myself. They are now on my speed dial for all yardwork!

Not a full service landscaping company, but they were very hard working and got the tasks finished. Great service if you know what projects you want done and just need extra labor to help pull it off. The boys were respectful, on time, and hard working. Very pleased with the experience, and will probably use them again.

I am begging you. Please do not use this business, especially in Detroit with Eric. He does not follow anything that would be of the Christian faith, and actually threatened me. A woman that filled in for me as my mother because I lost my mom when I was 19, went into hospice last night and I had to cancel them coming tomorrow to do landscaping. Eric Pfeffer actually fought with me to get his $100 because we had to cancel. A woman that I love dearly and her name is Joyce Palmer from Madison heights, and you can go ahead and check her obituary in the next couple of days to find out when she passed. Eric Pfeffer just wanted his $100, and never really cared at all about the trauma, the emotional roller coaster, and feelings that I was going through. If he was actually of Christian faith, he would have understood and let it go. He asked me to send the money to his wifes Venmo, not to the company but to him directly. He put the address that I gave him in a text where we were going back and forth, and then did this: Ok, you asked for it then. Is that Christian like? Does that speak of any faith? It got to the point where I had to tell him that I contacted my lawyer tonight, which I do have because I own a corporation, and that he will no longer speak with me but he will speak to my attorney. If he shows up the address that I gave him, he will be dealing with a disabled person, and that will be a big problem.

Mark and his crew did a spring clean up on my flower beds and did a fantastic job!

My only regret is on work day one of two I wasnt here to clearly explain in detail what I wanted done. My fault on some small details. Otherwise very pleased.

I had seven evergreens removed from my front yard. The work was completed as scheduled and the guys did a great job. The only negative is His Workmanship should provide their people with more and better equipment for jobs like mine. The guys only had two shovels and a nipper for cutting roots that was too small. They had a tough time doing this project with what they had to work with.

I wish I would have read reviews on this company first. I sent a number of pictures of the scope of work as part of the initial service request. I was told by the company via email that based on the scope of work, the number of guys I booked and the amount time should be no problem. At the end of the time booked, they came to the door and said they were ready for payment. I went outside to look, and they casually explained that the work was not complete (roughly half done, weeding and mulching). I paid them and accepted that I would have to take time off work to finish this job. I came out the next day to pull obviously missed weeds in already mulched areas to find that, not only did they not finish the job, but the areas they mulched didn t even have weeds fully removed. Just mulched over. I contacted the company to explain the situation and request partial reimbursement, and was essentially just directed to the verbiage in the confirmation email that explains work is not guaranteed to be completed in the allotted time, and said the agreed upon service had been completed and the contract was fulfilled. Based on this and what I ve since read, you may be better off going elsewhere. Edit: Eric reached out after the fact to further understand the nature of my concerns, which was appreciated. While the quality of the work is up for debate, be sure to understand ahead of time the risk youre taking on by booking work upfront based on number of personnel and hours, as the only remaining mitigation is paying for additional hours.

I hired two gentlemen from His Workmanship to accomplish various tasks moving furniture and boxes as part of our downsizing efforts. Mark and Matt were very industrious, clean, strong, and professional. They even disassembled and reassembled some of the furniture to move it through doorways. I was very satisfied with their work.

I needed some work done asap, because we re selling our house. I was able to schedule it for next day. Eric was very responsive and the young men who came to do the work did a fantastic job. They were respectful and I am very pleased with the results.

Hiring this company was the smartest thing I ve done in a long time. I let my garden get out of hand and needed HELP! Boy did they do a GREAT job! I don t think my garden has ever looked this clean! I would definitely recommend and hire again!

Do NOT Use this company! They dropped a dresser and broke it to pieces, the movers laughed about it and then proceeded to not apologize at all. The owner will not give any refund for the broken dresser. They claim they have no insurance or liability for anything broken. Not a Christian company, no representative of Christ at all.

Tl;Dr: I wish I had filtered to the low star reviews versus relying on the average star rating. Those negative reviews align with our experience and tell a consistent story. His Workmanship was sadly, a disappointment. Four gentlemen showed up on time and were polite. I was initially shocked by their lack of any tools, and over the first hour learned they had gloves, rakes, possibly a shovel or two, though I never saw shovels used or brought out. I had clearly detailed the work to be accomplished, with pictures sent before scheduling and assumed, based on the communication with Eric, that I would need to provide mulch and bags, which we had on hand and prepared. Given the tool situation we thought we would just roll with the punches and ask them not to do any mulching as it would take too long and frankly would be ergonomically unsafe for them to do some of what was planned without proper tools. I did attempt to contact Eric via email and phone as we were making these decisions but could not get through to him. (I get it, it was early on a Saturday.) Fair Warning: These young men did not have a basic understanding of how weeds, saplings, etc. must be handled to be truly removed. Root systems were not always removed properly and a small sapling was cut off with an ax (provided by my husband) so now we cant remove it properly without digging. This crew was not especially communicative, were not able to help us problem solve the tool situation, and there were frequent incidence of phone checking, stopping work completely to have casual conversations, trying to drown my husbands music out with their own, running over a reflector when leaving, etc. We had no expectation that these were professional landscapers, but did expect them to be diligent workers with basic knowledge of how to do the work properly. One of the major reasons I chose this company was that I thought it was a great way for young adults to make a livable wage PT. I was well aware I could have found less expensive ways to get this work done. I was happy to pay a fair wage for good labor. We ended up stopping work at the 4 hour point and asking the crew to leave because we were wasting time and money. The crew lead, Jacob, was polite throughout and seemed to understand what was happening and why. There appeared to be some question over whether Eric would want us to be charged the full 8 hours, grateful that wasnt an issue after a phone call. We are very appreciative of Jacobs professional attitude in the face of this challenge, it is not a situation anyone wants to have to handle. We hired people because we couldnt physically get the job done in a weekend and desperately needed to get ahead on what we got way too behind on. It was a big job and we expected it to be challenging and possibly not done in the 8 hours we contracted for initially. But, at $50 dollars per hour per worker, I really think you should look elsewhere for help or at least have a very clear understanding of what you may be getting for that money. I dont remember ever having left a negative review online, but feel compelled to do so in this case.

These gentlemen worked on my parents home for 6 hours. Deweeded the yard and it looks absolutely amazing. Professional and worth the money. Highly recommend

I dont need a company telling my kids they should go to church. Or that they should read a bible verse so we get a discount. Provide the service for paying customers, but dont push religious beliefs on their families. Incredibly unprofessional.

These two young men were thoughtful, polite and hardworking. It was a pleasure having them here. They finished everything we had on our list thoroughly and on a timely basis. Want them back next time. One suggestion (even though its none of my business): It is my understanding that the hourly fee is split evenly between the workers and the organization. I my opinion, this arrangement is a bit lopsided and would think that 60% workers and 40% organization might be a more equitable arrangement. Just a thought. Perhaps the additional 10% could be positioned as an incentive and earned based on the customer reviews they receive.

The Youngman were very professional and courteous, so was the scheduler (Eric). One issue/slight concern is they did not have any tools to disassemble the headboard and footer, necessary to get down to the basement. It might be good to ensure movers have some tools and also more dialogue, by phone is better to clearly identify the needs, challenges. We will have to get a more knowledgeable handyman to finish breaking down the headboard and reassemble the bed.

Max and Lucas showed up on time. Very polite and professional. They immediately got to work after talking with me about the specifics of the job. They even did some additional trimming which made the job even more spectacular. They cleaned up when the job was finished. Very hard and diligent workers.

I reached out during a Sunday afternoon looking for some last minute help for the following day. My husband and I started a surprise project for our kids and we re surprised with a COVID diagnosis and no way to complete the work without help. The owner responded to every question and found a time on Monday to get Josh to the property to help out. The owners responsiveness is something I am not used to! He was wonderful. His employee was an asset!

The crew unloaded house hold goods from a 26-foot rental moving truck in 3 hours and placed furniture perfectly after navigating stairs and multiple entry doors due to oversized and very heavy pieces.

I am appalled by the lack of professionalism of this company! The two guys that were sent did not finish the job because they said it took longer than they thought it would and they had to leave . I was left with bushes dug up and not replanted. When I said I would not pay until the job was completed , I was told the company was working to get someone else out to finish the job . When I called the company to inquire on when the other workers would arrive , I was informed that since it would take less than the minimum three hours to complete the job they didn t have anyone to do the work . Don t be taken by this company like I was.

The kids did a great job. They worked hard and were very nice and professional. Both, recent highschool grads. I screwed up and didnt have enough mulch so I paid for an hour I didnt use but thats on me. They did a great job weeding and laying mulch.

The guys who come are polite and hardworking, however there are dishonest business practices here that customers should be aware of. I am quoting directly from their website The hourly rate will begin once your crew arrives and starts working on your project. When your crew finishes to your satisfaction the clock will stop. Then the crew leader will come to your door and ask you to review their work. When you are pleased with the outcome, the crew leader will calculate the total hours and payment with you. This is not the service that we received. The crew of 4 guys started at 9:10 and left and 3:30. They left the job site for an hour long lunch break. I had to pay them the full 7 hours. The $180 an hour we were paying the crew of 4 guys covered their lunch break. No clocking in and out. Finished early? They don t calculate the hours worked you booked us 7 hours, you pay 7 hours. I wish they operated with integrity but this is not the case. When politely inquiring with Eric he was defensive non-apologetic and stood by this practice.

The team His Workmanship cleared out the weeds from our foundation plantings and trimmed the shrubs. They also gained a foothold in our flower beds. They worked constantly and did as much as possible in the time we scheduled. Wish I could have them come out every week!

Hired this company they worked 2.5 hours did not finish job, sloppy work, was told on website that you pay for what you use. Not true at all they did not even work the minimum. Small claims court next. Appears others have been scammed.

If you have a plan and know what you want to do, the guys can be helpful for extra hands! I had 2 guys help me split and move several hostas. I provided the shovels, wheelbarrows, etc. They did the manual labor which really helped me out!

They were on time, they worked really fast but still efficiently and with integrity. Our yard was in awful shape, we had so much going on this year than maintenance was not on our priority list. I recently used His Workmanship to remove rock from my back yard. Having to leave for work before the job was done, I did not see the end result. I return home to find the job unfinished. Furthermore, I let them use my wheel barrel to help them. They broke the wheel barrel and did not offer to repair/replace or discount their price. After bringing the issue to their leadership (Eric). He proceeded to offer me $10 dollars so I could fix the wheel barrel myself. When I asked if they would be willing to come and fix the wheel barrel, he said his company would not do that. I should have read more reviews. This company has a history of poor performance, specifically jobs led by Eric.

Do NOT hire this company for landscaping!! I was very specific with Eric about what I needed done and the crew he sent had no experience at all! My husband and I worked hours re-doing what the crew did, or rather, didn t do. Eric was very much lacking in his communication skills, as well as highly irresponsible and unprofessional. It was the worse $480 I have ever spent. I am still awaiting a partial refund from Eric.

I purchased a Groupon from this business. Immediately I was told I was out of the 5 mile service radius in which I am about 2 miles within the radius on the Groupon. After Eric conceded to that fact I attempted to schedule an appointment. Suddenly they were only available on weekends. Suspect of this I emailed a new serive request with a Groupon and was given an appointment the very next day. Given the horrible reviews on Google the BBB and noe Groupon I would highly recommend never use this lying Christian company. There is absolutly no use contacting them as they do not resolve any problems.

I hired His Workmanship to help me rearrange furniture in my home. The workers were professional and efficient, well mannered and very pleasant. They seemed to have good experience and knowledge to carry out my requests. Thanks!! To Eric And the team he sent to help me.

2 young men worked very hard moving dirt and rock for me. They were very polite hard workers. Excellent experience. Thanks so much for the help.

We hired some young men for two days of mulch spreading. They did a great job, edged our beds, moved and spread over 10 yards of mulch, and helped us spot-seed the front lawn. They showed up on time both days and worked hard. They were were very courteous. We recommend them for jobs that need strong backs and lots of energy.

The landscapers did an excellent job. The young men were nice and professional. I had a major job for them to complete at Dixon United Methodist Church in Dayton, Ohio. Initially, I did not explain the details of the work. The first visit they did an excellent job to complete the work. The second visit they knew exactly what was needed to complete the job. Great communication to set up landscaping work for my mother. Could work immediately, and she was very happy with the outcome. Will use them again.

UPDATE: Eric contacted me later in the day and reimbursed me the money I was charged for gas and added a little for the stress it caused. He also was willing to chat about pricing with me, especially the $150 fee for hauling a small load of debris away. I feel that he made things right in the end. I do still however believe that you can get the same service for less from a local landscaping company so I will be leaving this review with 3 stars until the pricing is looked at and adjusted for the Dayton Ohio area. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Sadly I am disappointed with His Workmanship. DO NOT do hourly rate landscaping!!!!! Not the young men that came out. They were on-time professional and communicated quite well. My problem is with the owner Eric and his hidden costs. So I purchased a Groupon and I failed to read the fine print that additional hours at full price would have to be added. Okay got it...my fault! I requested the debris be hauled away during my hourly rate. Well that is $150 more. Okay...seems steep but probably have to rent a truck. Nope...small bedded personal truck with a topper on it arrived. Can t haul much in that...definitely not $150 worth but my husband had agreed to pay for it so.... well the job started & then it was realized that the truck couldn t hold all the debris....duh....it s not a work truck for landscaping. It s a personal pickup with a topper on it. So I was offered to make several trips...each at $150. Seriously $450 to haul away debris. I am not making this up people. So it was agreed upon that we would stick with the original plan and the debris would be left behind for me. The young men finished up , ran the debris to dump and than came back to pick up a desk that they had to remove from the bed of the truck and leave at my house. We agreed that I d pay when they returned. When they returned my husband went to pay them the quoted price by the owner Eric only to find there is now a $15 gas fee. I went to ask what the fee was and was told they had to drive here and back. What in the world?!?!?! Unbelievable! When I shared with the owner that there was another fee added that had not been quoted and that I would not being doing business with him again he said he would be sure to be more accurate in the future. BAD business!! WATCH out people for all Eric s hidden costs. I am telling you right now hire a professional to do landscaping work...by the job not by the hour with add ins for absolutely EVERYTHING!

The guys showed up on time were professional and did a great job.

The two guys did a fantastic job. I was so happy I had them back the next week. They were on time, hard workers and friendly.

Young man came and did exactly what I needed. Good job!
