**Avoid Gentile’s Landscaping at All Costs** We hired Gentile’s Landscaping to install a driveway from the street to our backyard and a connecting pad area to hold a 20ft shipping container for $6,600. It turned into an unfortunate situation. While the initial presentation was professional, he failed to do 80% of the things he promised. One of the biggest issues was that Michael Gentile made major changes without consulting us. He estimated the job to take 4 to 5 days, yet it took from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Our initial main issues were he did not dig the depth he said he would and he omitted essential materials. When questioned onsite, he stated, “we got lucky” and the dirt wasn’t needed. Following completion, my husband and I walked the area where the shipping container would go. It was unstable. The millings were soft and spongy and it sunk in when we walked on it. He could not put a container on it or even a car. We alerted (by phone) Mr. Gentile of the issues and questioned him about omitting the material. After letting him know I wasn’t happy with his work. He became defensive that I would even question him. After two phone conversations, we came to an agreement that he would return and bring additional asphalt millings to fix the low spots in the driveway that held water and mud as well as dig up the back pad area and add the stone as he had said before. (But only if he drove over it to determine stability. Which he did about a week later and his truck couldn’t get far without sinking.) He returned. Instead of bringing additional material as we agreed upon, he dug up the millings from the back pad area, where we already had stability issues, and spread them down the driveway. This was a poor attempt to cover the problems rather than fixing them as discussed. Ultimately, I decided to sue the company for the omitted material. During the trial, I presented evidence, including recordings where Mr. Gentile admitted to not providing the material we had paid for. I also had surveillance footage on standby if the courts asked. Shockingly, based on his own evidence, he only spent about $1,150 on the entire project. If I hadn’t forced him to return and add gravel to the back pad area, he would have only spent $850 out of the $6,600 we paid him. Clearly there was enough to purchase the material we’d discussed. I shouldn’t have been surprised after already learning of his dishonesty when trying to resolve the issues. In court, Mr. Gentile attacked my character and lied extensively, even going as far as to accuse me of planning the whole thing just to sue him. He claimed I REFUSED to sign off on the “Job Complete to Satisfaction” receipt because I was so happy with the job. My response to the judge, “Your Honor, I have a file cabinet in my house. I would never refuse to sign anything.” I realized I hadn’t signed it when he answered the courts when I filed suit. He bragged to the judge about having 5 star reviews and couldn’t answer directly when the judge asked what it would take to make it right. His response, “Put the shipping container in another spot.” Thankfully, the evidence was clear, and I won the judgment. Afterward, I sent a demand letter for payment (certified mail) which he refused. He texted me, saying he would file for bankruptcy and appeal the judgment, wishing me “good luck.” I followed up with legal actions, including a writ of fifa and interrogatories. He paid the judgment a few weeks later. Right on time, because I had just filed the paperwork to garnish the bank of his business and had just received vehicle information from the state to levy his assets if I needed to. In hindsight, I wish I had sued for the full amount, especially since our driveway is now overgrown with weeds and looks terrible. Mr. Gentile’s dishonesty and refusal to take responsibility have made this experience awful. We still haven't been able to use the driveway how we originally intended. I strongly recommend avoiding Gentile’s Landscaping at all costs. Especially if you don’t want to deal with a dishonest human-being.
Michael and his son did a fantastic job filling in a large sinkhole and grading around it. It looks great! He is honest and his prices are fair. I would definitely hire him again and would recommend him to anyone needing landscape work.
Imagine, if you will, a hill - nay, a cliff - covered in construction debris and weeds, making half of your property almost entirely inaccessible to you without substantial risk of injury. This is what I was left with after closing on my newly built home. Enter Gentile landscaping. When I asked Michael to come out for an estimate, I had zero hope of finding any reasonable solution within budget. Even when Michael proposed his solution, I wasn’t convinced I would be satisfied with the end result. Fast forward to now, and after a week of perilous work with his extremely knowledgeable and professional crew, and dealing with my indecisiveness, the job is done. And I couldn’t be more satisfied. Michael has excellent communication, and works with you every step of the way to ensure your vision is molded into your landscape. His attention to detail is astonishing. After my experience, I have every confidence that Gentile landscaping can handle any project, large or small, and stay within a reasonable budget. There’s no point in looking for another landscaper, as the level of service and quality of work Michael provides is clearly unmatched. Give him a call, and you will be satisfied with the results.
We recently contacted Michael after a large tree fell near our house. He responded very quickly to give us a quote and listened very closely to determine what kind of work we wanted to have done. We were very pleased to find out that not only could he perform the grading that we needed but that he could also repair the drain line and install the concrete steps that we wanted. He was even able to grind the balance of the stump that still remained. He gave us several options to help us save money which will allow us to cover the steps and landing at a later time. We were extremely impressed with his attention to detail. We would highly recommend Michael and his team.
From start to finish we had a great experience! 10 out of 10! Michael was extremely kind and knowledgeable. He made sure we had the right sod installed for our shady lawn. We were unable to go through with the project when we originally wanted. Michael was super patient and understanding. When we finally were ready, his team was on it! The sod installation turned out sooo beautiful! Happy to have an awesome yard. We will be using them for sure when we tackle the back yard!

I researched companies to grade and sod the backyard. Michaels presentation was professional and convincing so he was hired to complete the job. The slope was to be graded lower with even ten feet beddings around the perimeter of the yard. Upon reviewing the slope, I asked that the slope be lowered more and Michael became unraveled and unprofessional with me with an angry tone of voice. The project was discussed with my neighbor without my permission which I felt was unprofessional. The yard was to have an even ten feet of border completely around the perimeter of the yard with the remaining being sod. Upon completion of the job, the border on the left side of the yard was visibly way larger than the right side of the yard which caused that side of the yard to be an eyesore. I expressed my concern to Michael and asked that it be corrected. Afterwards, our security cameras caught several rolls of sod being carried back to his trailer leading me to believe there was enough sod to complete the job as we had discussed. He agreed to come back out and take a look at the yard but wanted to be paid an additional $750.00 to complete a job that wasnt completed as agreed upon. I was very disappointed in his tone of voice, mannerism, how he spoke to me and not completeing the job as initially agreed upon.
DO NOT USE !!! UNPROFESSIONAL, UNRELIABLE & THREATENS to BLACKLIST and CALL THE POLICE in retaliation to the customer questioning his breach of contract. Michael entered into a legally binding contract to perform work on my property. At the last minute on the morning he was scheduled to perform, I received a TEXT from Michael canceling the job! The reason he put for cancellation was lack of communication . We had actively communicated two days prior and there wasn t a problem. Everything was in place to start this project EXCEPT FOR HIM! He was contracted to prepare the property for a crew to start work the day after, which I was forced to postpone . This inexcusable behavior didn t just hurt me, it hurt the people who we re supposed to start a project following him. When I complained to Michael he texted me If you continue to text me and insult my company I will BLACKLIST YOU ON THE CONTRACTORS WEBSITE. Then he threatened to call the POLICE!
These guys were great! Very responsive, fair price, prompt and very professional! They had the right equipment for a productive and safe job. They thoroughly assessed the area visually and electronically before they just got to digging. I really valued that!! Overall great experience!
Mike and his crew were awesome! They did everything we discussed and more, he helped with stump grinding, grading and even fresh sod and pine straw and faster then I even expected!! Pricing was perfect and mike worked with me on all of it. I will definitely use them in any of my landscaping needs again!

I used Gentile s Landscaping to remove my old Bermuda sod and replace it with Zoysia sod and to add pinestraw to my pine islands. They did an amazing job and I am very happy with their work. They are professional and did what they said they would do.

I had done expansive landscaping at the house we bought about two years ago. Afterwards I needed some more sodding and grading. Mike came and gave me his estimate and it was very reasonable. When he arrived it wasnt a mass of people just Mike, his son and one other. Having just recently had about a months worth of work done by four man crews, I can tell you Mike & Co. outworked the previous crews and did a much better job. Attention to detail and whatever the client wanted was job #1. Next time I need something done Ill go to Gentiles Landscaping. They are now permanently on my contractors data base. In this world of half*ss work and less than zero customer service, I give Gentiles Landscaping an A+. I highly recommend.
Gentile s Landscaping was the first company to respond to my request for a quote. He provided a very reasonable quote and when asked about stump grinding debris, he indicated that the majority of the wood is pounded back into the stump hole to insure there is no sink hole. That was very important to me! He arrived on time, completed the job in the time he stated, and cleaned up before he left. Excellent service! Highly recommended.
We had our front yard sodded and not only does it look great but Mike also was responsive to numerous questions after the work was done, including landscaping questions not related to the work. Will definitely use again and highly recommend
Excellent service - sod installation. They were so professional and transformed the yard into something we could never imagine! It is a month now and going wonderfully green.. I like the fact that Michael works hand in hand along with his team and is there at the site all through the project.. he just does not outsource to team and merely get it done the way most others so. Michael and team installed sod in my front yard this morning. I hired them based on kind recommendations on Nextdoor and was very pleased with the total package. Michael showed up promptly to give me the initial estimate and again showed up on time for the installation. He actually did the work himself with a helper - they were a fine-oiled machine of efficiency and Im excited to have a new zoysia lawn. Thank you, Michael!
This business is truly a class act. We were referred after ordering zeon zoysia sod from A&N. They quoted a fair price and patiently responded to all of my 50-11 questions about maintenance and upkeep of this particular type of sod. Even after the sod delivery was delayed by weather, they worked diligently to get us back on the schedule. They arrived early in the day and installed the sod perfectly and with extreme attention to the smallest details. It s refreshing to deal with a family business that is prompt and professional. I hardly ever write reviews but felt compelled to do so for this business. I can t say enough good things about Michael and the team. Definitely hire them if you are type A like me. His expertise on installation and maintenance is top tier!

I originally scheduled a different landscaper who was a no show. I was In a bind because I had pallets of sod that had been delivered. I was able to contact Michael, the owner of Gentile Landscaping, who answered my call, was very responsive and able to help me out on the same day. Michael and his team landscaped my back yard and installed new sod. Not only did they do an outstanding job, they were able to provide valuable information on what was causing my issues with the turf and treat for same. The Gentile Landscaping team was very professional, polite, and efficient. They will be my landscape company from this point forward!

Mike was very responsive to my call and came out within a few hours to assess the job and after accepting the reasonable quote he provided, he and his son were out within a few days to complete the job. Our sod is still the greenest sod in the neighborhood even during the winter. I would highly recommend him and will be using him for future projects for our next home.
Did you ever have a job that you put off doing for years because you know that not only will it be a huge undertaking but also be insanely expensive? Well we had that job and after years of thinking about doing it, this was the year we finally decided to do it. You might think that landscapers are a dime a dozen. However there are few that go out of their way to make a customer happy. Mike at Gentiles Landscaping is that guy! He was informative, punctual, friendly, reasonably priced, kept us informed every step of the way and he really knew his stuff. We live on a hill that has sink holes and has eroded over time. Mike and his crew regraded our lawn. We had a rain storm right after they completed the project and had a deluge of rain in a short period of time. I was horrified that the money we spent would wash away...it didnt. However, we found another issue that was unknown to either of us...there was an issue with our neighbors yard draining into ours which has and would continue to cause us issues. Mike came over and came up with a wonderful idea that not only would address the problem but was also visually appealing. Two days later he was back and the job was done (he wanted to have it done before the next rain storm). He made sure we were completely happy with both projects and believe me we were. Ill be honest, I was never expecting to have my own landscaper but when you find someone as wonderful as Gentiles Landscaping well you end up with your very own landscaper. If you have a lawn project, big or small give them a call...you wont be disappointed.

Mike was extremely punctual, great to work with, very affordable, super nice, efficient, hard worker...... I could go on and on! He removed a tree stump from our yard and even went out of his way to meticulously blow off our whole yard afterwards! We will be keeping him in mind for any future tree work! 1000% satisfied!
