I can t wait to see my hibiscus plants blooming every year I purchased from here, beautiful and healthy no matter how bad our winters hit us.

I just had the best experience with Jennifer Brennan, a horticultural information specialist, at the Chalet. Over the past two years, I began to gather some house plants and succulents in my apartment. I have purchased soil and lovely pots at the Chalet. But, I could tell that my plants needed help. Jennifer looked at photos and was so generous with her time teaching me what I need to do with my succulents, and others, to facilitate their growth. She is so knowledgeable I was amazed at how kind Jennifer was sharing that information with me. Best place to go to grow your plants!

My mom shops here all the time, and then I started shopping here when I bought a home I was very disappointed with my experience because I came here looking for a birdbath, and I found one that I loved and that was in my price range and they only had the display and the display was chipped and they were not willing to put in an order. Because they were saying that they had to wait until they had like the minimum to order, but they could ve easily have placed like the minimum giving me one and then kept the rest at the store if people wanted that birdbath that is how you keep a customer happy. But they obviously don t want to keep a customer happy. I don t know if I will be shopping here again

Lovely garden center offering a good range of plants but DO NOT order anything that requires delivery. Its been nearly two weeks since I bought 3 plants -- nothing massive, a small birch, a small sumac and a small maple. Their website claims they deliver in 5-7 days but the person I spoke to over the phone today said that bulkier items take longer. I was not informed of that when I purchased. This is not a detail! As of today there is no date scheduled for delivery of my plants because apparently the owner deliver when he can. Extremely unprofessional for a business like this.

If they havent got what you want its either extinct or for the wrong grow zone. Very helpful and cheery staff.

Chalet is a beautiful nursery with a large variety of plants. When, I purchased trees and shrubs 2 years ago the service and advice stood out even amongst the hundreds of flowering plants! Now, one of my plants had drooping leaves on a few branches. I scheduled time with Jennifer B at the Chalet plant clinic. With pictures alone, Jennifer was able to diagnose the issue with detailed background, treatment, and care for my Jane Magnolia; all from a few pictures. Jennifer provided a thorough explanation of the issues my tree was having so that I now understand why certain steps of the remediation are critical! I previously had an arborist out from a local venue, and he didn t notice in person many of the things that Jennifer was able to identify by zoom into a couple pictures! Jennifer provides exactly the type of service that makes the drive from Lakeview to Wilmette worth it. She had ensured that when I add hydrangeas and a tree to my garden, that I will return to Chalet.

In the past year, I bought bunch of plants and other things from Chalet. In May -June this year alone I bought several trees, rose bushes and shrubs. One of the trees I bought in May died and I contacted Chalet and provided several pictures. They responded stating that they could only give me 50% of the tree as credit which I could only use for buying another tree, shrub or bush because I chose to plant it myself. Last weekend, I went to get my replacement plant. I was given a Chalet consultant to help me choose among the eligible plants. There was 20% off sale going on and with that the shrub I chose was coming down to my credit amount. That consultant told me as a result I would be paying for tax only. I grabbed the plant and went to cashier line where I waited about 10 minutes. When my turn came, I was told they could only apply one discount. They were treating the credit for the bad tree as a discount. When I told the cashier that that could not be considered a discount, I was told to go to the customer service which I did. Two customer service representatives there did not know how to process this transaction, therefore they called their manager, Anne, who I spoke earlier and who assigned a consultant to help me pick a replacement plant. They still kept considering the credit I was supposed to have a discount and therefore they didn t want to give me the 20% off price. At some point, Anne told me she couldn t give me the plant for free which was not true! I was going to pay for the tax. She told me their software was not designed to give multiple discounts. I demanded to speak someone higher ranking manager than her. She told me it was not possible! I told her we would see about that and I left without getting my credit back. Among all the stuff I bought, only this tree died. They could easily see that in my transaction history. Yet, they were giving me only 50% of what I paid for the tree because I chose to plant it myself which I don t remember of being informed about at all at the time of purchase. They were also giving me suggestions about watering and other stuff not knowing that gardening is my passion and my work has a lot to do with growing and caring for plants too. They have great plant selection. No doubt about that. However, their customer service is absolutely appalling and I would have liked to give a zero, preferably a minus star if could!

Truly a home & garden heaven. Lotsa interesting items available even for the furry friends. Abundant of pumpkins for Halloween. Dont miss out on the plants which some are from Clesen .

I m so sad because we spent so much money on landscaping, design and lighting and it looks so bad. I didn t like it after it was done and voiced my concerns and they said give it some time and they were already in the red on our project (which we never even gave a budget, we were fine paying for whatever so that we could get what we want) but a year later it still not only looks so bad but our lighting no longer works. It s always been unreliable and fidgety, but the last 3 weeks, just completely stopped. It s only been a year of use! I had a landscaper come out yesterday to help me with some yard work and he said our landscaping was really bad and doesn t like it at all. He then suggested we use Chalet to spruce it up. I said this is Chalet s work. This is over $10,000 of Chalet s work. He was surprised and assumed we had a newbie working on our project. Maybe so but I m so sad and absolutely hate how it looks. I tried to give it the year and I took care of it well and watered and everything stayed alive but it s just such a bad design. My heart hurts to see it and know we will have to spend even more to fix it.

We re a customer for several years and been very satisfied with them,but this year we are shocked by their customer service! We have bought tons of flowers and just today alone we paid about $1500, it was rainy today and we ve been the only car to load, a young boy came and cover half of the trunk and suddenly left without a word and start loading soil bags in another car which just arrived, when I explained on of the manager she said the boy will come but he continued ignoring us like we were not there, again I went to the same manager and complained about this unprofessional experience but she said nothing, my husband ask the boy if he s going to help us, but he used a bad word that caused other boy to make him apologize. He was very rude and unprofessional, we just needed help to load our car. Pls be more considerate when hiring people and have proper training before put them on the floor

Chalet is such a lovely place, a real oasis in the community with beautiful plants and unique gifts. I stopped in today on this warm Wednesday at 3:30 in the afternoon. My goal was to purchase an indoor plant and while I am an experienced outdoor gardener, indoor plants confound me, ergo I needed help. There were two workers talking in the indoor planting area, but neither one acknowledged me as I milled around and around and around. I held the door for two more workers as I moved from the orchid/succulent room back into the main store, but neither one of those folks acknowledged me either, nor did they thank me for my doorman duties. I moved back and forth, lifting pots and looking for some indication as to which plant might work in my environment. Does an indoor plant in a brightly lit room at the Chalet mean that I can put said plant in the brightly lit room at my house and what of watering, feeding? I dont want to learn about plants from Google and when I am paying Chalet prices, I hope to get expert guidance. After meandering away from plants and into the gifts side of the store I noticed that the main indoor cashiers were also standing around talking. Last chance I decided looking hither and yon for a helpful person eventually making eye contact with one of the original planting ladies, but she was quick to look away and return to her chat. I made my way out and back to my car plant-less and so very disappointed. In the scheme of human events of late, mine is not a noteworthy tale. I am neither angry nor looking for attention. I will make my way to Home Depot, maybe Lurvey (although it is a hike) and hope that someone will utter that essential customer service question...Can I help you?

Danuta was extremely helpful when I was looking for a large floral arrangement for my foyer. She took the time to ask questions, listened, and ultimately put together a beautiful custom arrangement. I couldn t be more thankful for her help!

I love this place, they have such a wide variety of plants and a very friendly staff. I am mostly writing this review to tell about the experience that I had today with Danuta. She was so helpful and you could tell that she loves her job. I am very picky and probably not very pleasant to deal with but she was very patient with me. She was extremely knowledgeable and helped me choose the perfect planter.

I tried asking a question , but instead the worker just kept talking over me. I couldn t get a word in. Therefore I just left. If I can not get assisted then what is the point of them walking around.

My wife loves this store. The staff are always friendly. We come here for our Christmas tree. They have a wide selection of gardening seeds, fertilizers, furniture, fountains, fire pits,and accessories. It is definitely worth the trip. Expect t o pay full price for items this being located on the North Shore.

Fantastic customer service! I normally don t drive by this nursery but happened to have an appointment nearby today. I called and asked whether they could have my order ready by the time I passed by. They were so pleasant on the phone and accommodated my request seamlessly. The prices are also very reasonable compared with other nurseries nearby. Would give six stars if I could!

We used Chalet for a landscaping project in our backyard and also to take over the weekly maintenance from our prior landscaper. Darren and his team did a fantastic job designing and implementing the project. He was great to work with and very responsive to our ideas and budget. Jodie and his team continue to care for our lawn and landscaping on a weekly basis. They show tremendous attention to detail (clipping individual bush branches by hand) and theyve brought our lawn back to life. They are a high quality team and weve been very happy with their work.

Fun store to browse or grab a last minute gift: lots of selection across garden and home goods. I especially appreciate the native and locally grown plants. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. However, all this comes with a price: everything is expensive.

Went to buy Heirloom roses but - as the nursery rhyme goes Old Mother Hubbard went to the Cupboard But when she went there the cupboard was bare wilting rose plants were there and no they could not order it either!!!!

High end garden store focused on quality over quantity. More space is dedicated to home decor and interior/exterior decor. Friendly and knowledgeable staff are always willing to assist.

Variety of gifts, holiday decor was delightful.

Purchased firewood from the Chalet a few times, but this last time the wood was such poor quality. The majority of the pieces were the size of pieces not logs, the larger sized pieces of wood had paint on them.

LOVE going to Chalet any time of the year. Its the best place for quality gifts and my snake plants are still thriving four years later. We are also big fans of their dog food subscription program! Very grateful for such a special local business.

I have purchased things for my garden and gotten advice at Chalet often, since the 1980s. Its always a good experience and the employees are so knowledgeable. In the last year, since moving to a new house, I have needed lots of advice. Jennifer has proven to be a treasure as I navigate my new yard! She has helped me 3 different times this last year and her advice is always spot on. Her expertise in plant and tree care is nothing short of astonishing!

I have been a customer of Chalet for over 20 years. I exclusively buy all my indoor plants from Chalet. I find the staff very helpful and beyond knowledgeable. Being self-taught, this has required my reading too many gardening books and my performing too many goggle searches to mention. To spare my gardening friends my plight, I have recommended that they consult with Jennifer also. The advice Jennifer has provided me and my gardening friends is next to none. I love Chalet for their service & variety of products....but their no-contact curbside pickup is a fiasco.

Nearly a month after ordering what I thought was a stunning magnolia tree, my order arrived today (no call or appointment given first). This tree ended up being a 3ft tall bush with sad looking dying flowers. Ughhhhhh between a zillion phone calls with Chalet, sloppy delivery process and disappointing merchandise- spend your money elsewhere.

I recently had a problem with one of my rhododendrons, and Jennifer Brennan has been fantastic with working with me - first to get my 50% replacement credit, then to pick out a plant for me, and finally to answer all of my plant questions. She has been patient, kind, and very knowledgeable, and has tirelessly and promptly responded to my emails and been great over the phone. Jennifer has gone above and beyond to be helpful, and has been extremely pleasant and enjoyable to communicate with throughout the process. You would be hard pressed to find a more helpful person!

Came to Chalet the past 2 days looking for various plants to put in gigantic trough planters (80+ gallons)...on two separate occasions, two different ladies at the info booth were rude, loud, and condescending like nothing else Ive ever seen. My main questions to them (asked very politely) were whether there were shade tolerant plants (which one lady did provide a list for, the other didnt even know it existed) that could survive over winter freezes, and what I could do to heat the containers (corten steel).. when I asked what happens with zone 2-3 plants, one said it doesnt matter, they all die with at most a 50/50 survival chance or less. The other lady said welcome to chicago winters, Art (in a condescending tone, and using my name as if she were my mother or something). They both insisted that other than styrofaom or plastic wrap for insulation, there was nothing that could heat up containers (and even if you did use insulation, EVERYTHING would probably die anyways...yes even arctic plants). They didnt even mention insulation until I brought it up myself (they just kept repeating that plants cant be stored in containers over winter and thats it). Neither did they advise on mulch, until I brought it up. One of them said that I should just get plastic plants, and that if anything I buy dies--its not covered by the store (I never even cared or inquired about refunds). It came off as if she was inferring I was some cheap idiot. When I asked if there was a substance or chemical you could put in the soil to keep it from freezing, one lady said that well, if you invent one, youd be a millionaire. Now, upon research, Im finding a TON of info that there are outdoor electronic heating mats/liners, rods, with thermometers of all sorts. THEY SHOULD KNOW STUFF LIKE THIS!!! Not only that, but plenty of gardeners and landscapers are saying that zone 2-3 plants (or anything generally one zone lower than the one youre in) go dormant, even in a clay pot and survive (the only negative being that the pots rupture). I myself asked one of the ladies, how to reconcile the fact of how is it that zone 2-3 plants spend up to 5 months in permafrost 3 feet deep, in -20 to -30 temps, yet a couple of weeks of 5 degree winter here would kill that potted sub-ARCTIC plant (and I already mentioned that the containers I have are practically as large as as a small golf cart). Her response was yelling youre telling me? I lived in a place where it got that cold, i know what the north is like...and it all dies anyway...again, talking to me like Im a complete idiot or something. They practically berated me for even asking these questions. On top of that, one of them was glaring and yelling as she kept repeating the same talking points over and over, while I asked new questions and sought alternatives (keeping in mind that I was continuously polite). Whats the point of having an info booth, if all youre gonna do is belittle customers for inquiring??? Its like they get insulted that someone who doesnt work at a gardening store, would know something about plants and dared challenge their expertise by asking some questions, and not just nodding to their sole advice (which as it turns out, is based on some really limited knowledge). I was ready to spend up to $1000 at this place...I took my business to Menards and Home Depot (and I dont even like Home Depot) and just saved more than 95% of that money. I would never buy anything from this place on principle (and Im always willing to spend more on higher quality products). How do you talk to educated, Northshore customers (many others with very high standards) like this?? Theyre the ones who keep your business afloat... I would love to talk to a manager, cause I just spent almost an hour writing this review on a phone when I could have been doing something else...and I almost never write reviews unless it was something totally ridiculous like this.

Excellent garden center with sections for Trees, Vegetables, Flowers and all sorts of other plants. There is also a great Pet and Home Goods section inside. Staff here is helpful and friendly. They also have great Pride and 4th of July displays out right now!

I came in on a quiet Wednesday looking for a gift for my wife s birthday. I didn t know exactly what she would like, but the three young ladies at the registers really helped me. Without as many sales associates (I think because of COVID?), they were the only ones available to help me pick out a couple things. Everyone else may have been busy, but they kind of dismissed me when I asked for assistance. I believe the names of the girls that did help me were Grace, Sarah, and Marie... They even went out of their way to wrap it all up really nicely. I ve shopped here in the past, but never have the cashiers been so sweet and helpful. It felt like a personal shopping experience and really made my wife s birthday special.

I stopped in last week looking for help with my 10 year old Boston Ivy vine,,,been everywhere seeking help as well as had an arborist to my home to diagnose. Stopped by the Chalet Customer Service desk and met Jennifer Brennan....SHe not only knew exactly what the problem was, but she explained in simple terms what was going wrong and how i could easily remedy it. Her knowledge was amazing! I recommend heading to the help desk at Chalet and asking for Jennifer!!!

Jennifer was extremely helpful in refunding me for three hydrangea plants that I purchased last summer (they ended up being the wrong type when they bloomed this year). She was kind, knowledgeable, quick to get back to me, and the full refund was hassle free. I have always been a fan of this beautiful store, but was incredibly impressed with my recent customer service experience.

The place is neat, great variety, healthy plants, awesome merchandise! And A+ customer service and advisors! Today I had a 5 minute Arbor Class (!) with Ms Mary Francis. Bravo!

The people at the actual nursery are very kind. Nathan Tawana and Desiree are the best. They were both kind and knowledgeable, but landscaping and delivery? Forget it! I bought some beautiful burning bushes. They were supposed to be delivered today. I m asking for a refund. Delivery personnel never showed or called. Please don t waste your time, unless you plan on taking your finds with you.

Not really familiar with service but one of the drivers or someone who had there logo all over the vehicle cut me off 3 times while driving and proceeded to follow me into my kids daycare parking lot. Not sure if he thought it was a game but if your driving a company car maybe you need to be a more practical driver. I think following me into the daycare parking lot was a little much as I just kept trying to get in a different lane and each time the male driver sped up/slowed down to cut me off.

Dog-friendly store! Indoor plants are medium-priced, obviously Home Depot is cheaper if it s a common plant, but Chalet has a TON more options/higher quality. I think it s more reasonably priced than smaller boutique plant shops like Cultivate or Fleur. Chalet has good prices on air plants, less so on succulents (small variety and expensive compared to Home Depot) Lots of options for pots, most are reasonably priced, you can find lots for $8-10

The Chalet is an amazing place I have been visiting since I was a small child. The variety of products, from greenhouse to landscaping to interior decor, jewelry and pet supplies is amazing. The best part of visiting The Chalet is Gabbie, Manager of the Pet Supplies department. Never in my life have a met a more knowledgeable, professional and passionate person. Gabbie has successfully guided us through pet nutrition, grooming and healthy snacks since our two Dobermans were young pups. She will research information and call vendors directly to ask for specialty items and all with a smile on her face, no matter how busy the shop is. To be honest - Gabbie is the reason my husband and I continue to shop at Chalet. Its not often that a person can light up your day and make you feel great for the whole week, like Gabbie does. The rest of the store is beautiful and we always find something unique and wonderful - but Gabbie is what makes The Chalet the exceptional experience that it is. And no, we are not related. I just think its important to recognize top tier performance, professionalism and attitude when you see it. Well done, Chalet!

This nursery is so beautiful and amazing. Their rich history is definitely part of the charm. Their staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I went their on their Garden Faire which just so happened to be on the day of the Derby. They helped me find the perfect mint plant with an awesome pot and they even filled the pot up with some dirt! They also are great at giving back to the community with their Pet Adoption initiatives and the Front Yard Facelift they did in the spring. Also, nothing gets you in the holiday spirit like walking through the Garden Center during the holidays!

Wonderful enchanting place this time of the year with everything budding and blooming. Buddy is the best and most knowledgable sales person I have ever had helping me with plantings. Chalet is by far the best place to go for plants in the spring and summer, gifts for the holidays and other housewarming items. The staff there will impress you with their knowledge of all they have to offer, and they are very helpful. They also landscaped my yard as well as some of my neighbors yards and they all look amazing!

The Specialty Gardens department at Chalet is wonderful. It is amazing the attention to detail that is taken when designing seasonal containers for your home. Whether it is a new or existing container, Chalet can customize just about any old planting pot into a long lasting display of color and interest throughout the season!

Ive worked closely with some of their landscape designers and Im very pleased with their work. They have all been very knowledgeable, patient and helpful. Also, they actually return phone calls and follow up unlike other contractors Ive talked to.
