VA Grounds has done my mom’s yard for years. They even did her gravel driveway. Never washes out. Her yard is always so nice and she feels like they are apart of our family. I feel comfortable knowing that she has someone working in her yard that she feels safe with. Thanks Corey and Team for taking care of my mama and making her feel like a million bucks while she’s sitting on her front porch waving at the neighbors with her beautiful yard!

This is one of the best landscaping companies I've ever dealt with. They have gone above and beyond to help us out with or landscaping and tree trimming needs. I especially want to give credit to the tree trimming crew. We had a state inspection recently and needed some VERY LAST MINUTE items taken care of. The crew leader actually took the time to walk the property with us so he could see exactly what it was we were needing/wanting. After everything was done he came back to the office to let us know everything that was taken care of. Our office has never been happier to have this company as our landscaping crew. Good job guys!
We have been using VA Grounds for many years with outstanding service from Corey. He has extensive knowledge in landscaping and knows what will work well in our area. His recommendations are always well thought out, and the end result has never been a disappointment. We have recommended him to our neighbors who have been equally pleased.
The mowing crew showed up today for our first mowing of the season and our yard now looks fantastic! Mark and his crew did an excellent job. We used Virginia Grounds for our mowing last year along with other services including lawn chemicals, mulching, irrigation system maintenance and fall/winter bed clean up and were very pleased. The mowing crew really takes extra care to make our lawn and beds look just great. Thank you!
I just read some of the reviews and I have to say, my experience was excellent. Corey and his company are top notch; his crew is courteous, polite and knowledgeable. Corey really knows the business. We are very very pleased with the redo of our landscape. Very appropriate healthy lush plantings, excellent sod, well installed! Our community, The Mews, also uses Virginia Grounds and there is great enthusiasm among owners for the work they have done. Tremendous improvement. I would recommend Corey and his business to anyone, even my boss! He will come through on time and as promised.
This is a first class locally owned and operated landscape, and general contract company that will deliver on everything they promise. Whether you are looking for landscaping for residential or commercial ~ big or small this is who you want. Please come by Rolling Meadows Apartments and see what an amazing job they do! Reviews are fantastic but come see first hand how great this 17 acre looks even in the cold of winter. It is cut clean and manicured. I manage the property and we couldn’t be more pleased. We have had major enhancement projects completed on time and right on the dime that we were quoted. Some things you will find out right away is you can talk with anyone on the crew and if they can’t do it they will get you the right person for whatever you need. This isn’t a run around service crew like so many other companies. The owner runs this company with finesse and is very structured. It is locally owned and you you don’t have to worry about your needs being lost in a huge corporate structure. VA Grounds is first rate and can takes care of a huge property as if we are s residential customer. They can deliver on smaller projects like lighting-stone walkways-decorative ponds, and also large scale enhancements like retention ponds-walls-irrigation systems and so much more. Let’s be honest it’s about turf care at the end of the day. The standard they will set with directional clean cutting is amazing it make you a life long customer.
We hired Corey and the crew of Virginia Grounds for major work on our newly constructed Williamsburg home. Large project consisting of installing in-ground irrigation system for the yard, and building our bluestone patio in the back yard. Service was terrific. The irrigation system is flawless, and is designed and built by Brett to be expandable at a later date - a great feature Brett recommended. The bluestone patio is amazing - please see photo. Note the attention to detail: properly sloped for runoff; stone cutting is flawless (look at the round edge); the sitting wall and fire pit are perfectly built, solid and gorgeous (note the built-in wall lights, on a control box and timer); and the final touches include edge bed shaping, mulch and boulders - yes, Corey and his crew added 3 boulders that are the perfect final detail (2 are visible in the photo). Before starting, Virginia Grounds had to excavate a ton of soil under the deck in order to bring it to grade with the rest of the back yard. All work was professional and meticulous; all his crews were respectful and polite.

Corey is not professional at all. He promises the sun and moon and lies through his teeth. My grass wound up with very heavy thatch and he would not respond to my calls directly to him or through his office. Also the girl he has in the office is another liar. But I guess she learns that from Corey. Had to hire another company to take care of the thatch even though I was still under contract with Corey. Needless to say, I quickly canceled the contract and stopped paying Virginia Grounds.
Corey and his team took my backyard from moss covered to a gorgeous new lawn from last fall to this spring. Reasonable priced and top quality execution. I continue to be a satisfied customer and use his services on a regular basis. David Lee Windsor Forest Positive
Historically a great comapny and we ve used them for years at two different houses. We ve had issues every so often, but never to the point where it is now. However, the past month has been a nightmare. They contracted with someone for irrigation systems who got information wrong, scheduled appointments and didn t show, and when I complained about the service (or lack of service), Corey canceled our contract. I ve heard he was unprofessional before but I only saw it recently. We already planned to find a new service, and now we ll have to do it sooner. While I wouldn t say to avoid this company entirely, I would go in knowing that they have a bad reputation for being unprofessional, especially the office staff.
I have been a customer of Virginia Grounds since Hurricance Irene in 2003, when they lifted the tree off our home and did an excellent cleanup job of our yard. Since then every year I have used them for a mulching and other jobs around the premises requiring their services. They have always given a reasonable estimate and done the job in a timely fashion. I value them very highly!

Love Corey and his crew. Did several jobs for us this past year. Finally have a lawn to be proud of. Always on time, did professional work, cleaned up and checked back to be sure we were happy. Already planning this years projects.
I have used VA Grounds for years for all my landscaping needs and I have always been pleased by the quality of their work. I also greatly appreciate the dignity and respect that Corey/Owner has always demonstrated to me, my property, and my neighbors.
There should be a score for people who show up to look at the job, but then decide they dont want it and never send you a bid. I dont know what kind of work they do because no one ever called me back. Thats worse, in my book.
Not reliable and quality of work is substandard at best. Lawn cutting crews do not care whatsoever. This is for a large complex cutting contract. They only edge when they feel like it. They skip several areas of our complex on a continued basis even though I have personally spoke to the crews supervisor. Their work may be better in other landscape areas but in our case it has been a terrible experience.
If they had negative stars I would have given them that, but you can only rate so low. Has to be the worst company in Williamsburg, the owner is a joke, and they have absolutely no customer service. I paid over 3000 for something that looked like sod from weed factory, and then the way the owner wanted to fix it was by sending someone out to throw seed on top of the weeds. I would not recommend them to my worst enemy. Took one month to finally get through to someone who actually worked there, and she said, sorry I promise I give the owner your calls. If you want it done shabby by all means call this company, and if you want it done right call another.
Cant even deliver a load of dirt. I called this place early in the week to have a load of fill dirt delivered. It took 2 days for them to come up with a price and they only accepted cash upon the delivery. Over three different phone calls I made it very clear that I did not want top soil delivered, but fill dirt for bricks to be laid on. Then they made me wait until Saturday, which was the day I wanted to work on and finish my home landscaping project. The guy shows up (late) with of course, a load of top soil. I told him thats not what I ordered. All he said to me was he would go back and see what the problem with the load was, and walked away. Didnt even tell me if he was coming back. Didnt give me a courtesy call. And he never did come back. I waited for hours and called the office 3 times and left messages. A perfect day to work outside on my project, and now I cant. I have to find somebody else and push it to next weekend. How Virginia Grounds won an award for landscaping is beyond me. They cant even deliver a load of dirt.
