My husband and I recently contacted Terra Firma with some ideas for a new patio in our backyard. This job would be a bit challenging because it would mean burying our sump pump pipe, building steps under a bay window, (a job that another contractor had turned down because it was too challenging) and working with our current underground irrigation system. We met with Bill Lytle, who put our minds at ease, and who carefully listened as we shared our vision. He contributed helpful and beneficial suggestions with regards to landscaping ideas, and paver selection, and in a week or so when he provided us with a computer-generated schematic. Looking at it, we knew we were looking at the patio of our dreams. The teams that came to lay the pavers were hard-working and meticulous. The landscaping crew followed, and had reconfigured our irrigation system around our patio, and expertly directed it towards our new landscaping. This entire project exceeded our expectations, and we couldnt be happier. We would highly recommend Terra Firma for their exceptional quality and workmanship.

Terra Firma designed my landscaping for my new house and I am delighted with the outcome. And, as we all know, landscaping grows and needs some tweaks along the way. They have been very responsive in coming back and making small changes to maximize the original design. Additionally they do all of my lawn and landscaping maintenance, including fertilizing, feeding trees and shrubs, and spraying for pests. Terra Firma is a highly respected local landscaping firm that has a very high reputation. I recommend them highly.

Did a great job quickly on our new patio.

Dont waste your money. They charged $200 to come look at the property. They also took 72 hours to respond with the original assessment when they knew I had time constraints due to being in closing negotiations on a house. They gave estimates (not quotes) in person on how much the work would cost but refused to provide those estimates in writing for at least another week. I should have read the reviews first. The negative reviews from the last few months were accurate to my experience with this company.

Just had a consult at my house. Less than impressed with the suggestions offered to remediate some yard drainage issues. Was told to regrade the land using a local farmer because it would be cheaper. Didn t receive a quote for my proposed piping work, and was instructed to reach out with additional questions. All in all, consult lasted no longer than 15 minutes and charged $170 despite receiving no quotes. Felt pretty crummy; a waste of time and money.

We absolutely love this company great people to work with. They did a wonderful job and were very considerate, would definitely recommend them to anyone and everyone who is looking for professional irrigation. They completed the job in the course of 2 days mainly because of our ground and some patching that needed to be done because the ground was too hard. The exceeded our expectations and truly went above and beyond. You will not be disappointed with this company! Thank you Chris and Erik!

Erik came out and gave me a very reasonable quote that in my opinion didn t even compare to other companies quotes, with all that he had to offer. Make sure when you re doing your search you re truly comparing apples to apples because this company truly does the best work and takes zero shortcuts. Not only do we now have a perfect lawn irrigation system but due to our ground being difficult to dig in they came back the next day to restoration and reseed which was not expected. You will not be disappointed by hiring this amazing team. We are beyond happy with our results and how quickly they got the job done. Shoutout to Erik, Chris and the rest of the team that came out to install our system. We truly can t thank you all enough and are very happy customers!

The project involved removal of an old in-ground pool and re-design of the back yard. Once the design was complete, the project was assigned to Bill Lytle, who was instrumental in getting everything done on time and within budget. Bill was wonderful to work with through the whole project. He managed all the crews, who were also great people who did beautiful high-quality work. I would definitely work with Terrafirma again because of the professional project management and the expert work done by the work crews. We were completely happy with the end result.

Eric and his team at Terrafirma have performed excellent landscaping work for me over the last 10 years. They are always on time, detail oriented and Sara in the office is very responsive.

John and the Terrafirma team re-landscaped our house in the summer of 2023. They delivered on time and on budget, were transparent throughout the process and most importantly, did high-quality work that were delighted with. It spoke volumes that once the project was complete, the team stopped by multiple times to see how everything was growing in. We had a very big project, including tree removal, removal of large pavers, building of a retaining wall, stairs from the house to the lake front, and landscaping. They met with us several times throughout the project to answer questions and provide updates. They suggested adding lighting, which we added near the stairs. We worked with Terrafirma to rework our driveway, front walk, install a sprinkler system, and clear out some dead trees. Really appreciated the expertise and professionalism of the whole team, as well as their breadth of knowledge on all things exterior.

They were were very attentive and engaging, and responsive, especially Dave S. He got the permit, and completed clearing of dead trees, brush and weed trees in preparation of spring landscaping. Dave was great! He followed up by getting the driveway installed, new deck and fencing, irrigation system, and tree plantings within our budget and on time. They take the time to make phone calls, which bolsters a good relationship, instead of relying on emails.

Terrafirma just completed a 2nd major residential landscaping project in the last 5 years for us. They have strong capabilities in hardscaping, lighting, irrigation and plants/lawns. Excellent knowledge in a variety of areas is important when we need to make modifications during the project. Wonderful people throughout the company (in this project in particular, John McBride and Donnie were invaluable to me - professional and patient with my wife and me). Hope that I dont have another landscaping project for a long time. But if I did, more than likely Terrafirma would be my partner in it for a 3rd time!

Absolutely the best landscaping and other home improvement company in Michigan. Every project they do is first class.

Their drivers are extremely unsafe they caused a dozen car lock up in traffic on a very hilly residential neighborhood street from doing 5-10 under the speed limit. Almost caused multiple accidents.

He wasnt interested in making money.

The TerraFirma team did a very nice job of doing landscaping, a new patio, and fence. They were good to work with. All staff I met were courteous and cleaned up completely after work was completed. All work was done on schedule.

Our primary reason for hiring Terrafirma was to fix a leaky basement wall. To do that they needed to remove part of our deck and patio, dig a deep trench, waterproof the wall, and install a sump pump. Then they needed to replace the deck and patio, which included some re-design. They did all this extremely well and we are very happy with the results. We never looked into what any other company would charge, so we cant say whether this was a good value or not, but we were and are certainly very happy with it. The entire project was set up and overseen by John McBride, who worked with us throughout.

Great company very knowledgeable people for all your landscaping designs and needs

My 111 yr old water main decided to burst and flood my basement, and my water had to be shut off. The Utilities worker who responded recommended Terra Firma, and despite the short notice, they were able to replace my piping quickly and efficiently the next morning. They were nothing but friendly, and kept me informed as they worked. They helped keep my emergency situation less stressful than it couldve been. I would recommend these guys to anyone. Ill be keeping them in mind for any future work I may need, hopefully under better circumstances next time!

Needed a dedicated drain line for my sump. Terrafirma trenched and installed a line quickly. Problem solved!

I had a deck resurfaced with composite decking and a privacy fence built around my hot tub. The father/son team did a wonderful job, were very professional and the deck is beautiful. We asked Terrafirma over to get an estimate for work on our property. The president arrived and his behavior towards me was pretty terrible. He wouldnt even speak to me, but kept checking with my husband to get information. I felt he was incredible chauvinistic and mostly rude. I am looking elsewhere.

Excellent workmanship and left everything cleaned up too. I would recommend them for anyone needing their deck redone!

A great place to have Landscaping

We have had Terrafirma come out on two separate waterproofing jobs concerning cracks in a basement wall. On both occasions the folks at Terrafirma have been quick in response, very knowledgeable, professional, and cleaned up after the work was completed. Most importantly the work has solved the problem of water leaking into the basement. I highly recommend them!

Terrafirma has done nothing short of impeccable work on our new construction lot. We contracted with Terrafirma to clear our lot of construction debris, grade, bury gutters to daylight, topsoil, and sod. Each stage of the project exceeded my wifes and my expectations. The crew always kept a clean and professional job site, and our project manager Dave Fitch was an excellent resource with prompt communication. We debated on performing our own plantings but after this job was complete, we are going to let Terrafirma take care of it all. Dont be fooled/beware by local competitors with a higher number of reviews, they are inferior to this company by far.
