Perhaps one star is a little dramatic but unfortunately I have nothing to go off regarding their service as a whole. I had a meeting scheduled a week and a half in advance. The salesperson messaged me saying they werent going to be able to make the meeting so I said no problem. Lets reschedule for the next day. 20 minutes before they were supposed to meet me. I got a message saying theyre unable to meet me again and at that point a first impression was solidified. I called the office to give them my feedback and they indicated that theyre extremely busy right now and were apologetic. I cant recommend them as I was unable to meet with them and they didnt seem to value my time. Hopefully you will have better luck as they seem to have good ratings when they do actually meet with somebody and get work done.

We used Schmitts Landscaping to install new landscape lighting on a home. When he first came out we explained to him that we were having a wedding at our home in about six weeks time and would love to have it done by them. We quickly ordered what we wanted, came and installed it and even drove by several times for the next few nights to make sure we were happy with the way the house was lit up. He even installed a couple additional lights for some corners of our house that we felt needed more light. It looks beautiful! We hired Schmitt s to remove and reconstruct a large, old patio. From the jump, they were easy to communicate with, open to our ideas and respectful of our budget. We needed to add to our existing paver patio and Schmitt came up with the perfect design that worked with the space and integrated with our existing pavers. Communication was clear and prompt during planning. Project was complete on time and as promised. Quality of work was great.

We had Schmitt install a paver stone patio, garden box and dry riverbed including removal of an old wonky patio, a dilapidated raised garden and an overgrown gravel camper pad. Were both getting older and have a very large driveway. A couple of years ago when we were looking for a snow removal service when we received a flyer in the mail from Schmitts Landscape Service announcing their new snow removal service. They had done some landscape rehab for us a few years earlier and so I was familiar with their quality of work. I called to make an appointment to discuss snow removal and Mark Schmitt Jr. came to the house a day or two later. I showed Mark the areas I wanted kept clear and asked how they removed the snow...by hand or with a truck and plow. We did not want a truck/plow method for a couple of reasons...one of our driveways has an S-curve making it difficult to plow and we did not want huge piles of snow that a plow creates. Virtually all of the other contractors we interviewed used a truck and plow and none of them, none, came to the house to see the property. I was encouraged when Mark assured me that all snow is removed by shovel or snow thrower...which was exactly how I was doing it. We went over their plans and selected the Just-In-Time option as that was the best fit for us. True to his word Ive found the Schmitt snow crews to be quick and thorough cleaning the drive edge-to-edge as closely as possible without tossing snow onto my neighbors property. They also throw down salt/ice melt on the drive and front stoop. We have zero regrets in choosing Schmitts for snow removal so if youre looking for snow removal look no further than Schmitt Landscape Service. UPDATE 2024: Everything in my original review still stands. The service is reliable, thorough and detail oriented. You cannot go wrong with Schmitts Snow Removal.

Schmitt s Landscaping is a terrific full service company. We have done several projects with them since moving into our home 4 years ago. These projects included design and installation of trees, bushes, flowers, and a variety of other plants. In addition they designed and installed a beautiful paver walkway with several steps and landings up to the front door. They did the same for a backyard patio with surrounding knee high wall. Finally, they do our spring and fall clean ups as well as the weekly cutting/trimming and weeding. The place looks great and they keep it that way all season. I worked with Schmitts on re-designing our yard after we moved into our home. The existing landscape was overgrown and quite outdated. Mark came out to talk about what we were hoping to achieve, and worked with Brad, their architect, to translate that into a beautiful new landscape design for us. I did have to book with them far in advance (October for a spring planting), but I am so happy we were able to get on their schedule. I called them about landscaping our front yard. I received a phone call saying that because we are not a user of their lawn care, service, they were not interested. I still dont understand how one can be a lawn care service and not want to put in the grass and other plants, brickwork , etc.

We worked with Mark Schmitt and team on our backyard throughout 2021. We had a lot of moving parts including burying downspouts, improving our foundation grade, removing an old brick patio and installing a new one, leveling a rocky mud pit, installing new sod and planting several trees. We are so pleased with the results and the process was very smooth. Schmitt s team worked incredibly hard during the hot august month and Mark kept in constant communication with me and the crew. We hired Schmitts landscaping to do a ton of work for us this summer and we couldnt be more pleased! Mark was incredibly responsive throughout the entire process (which is very important to my type A personality haha!) They do quality work and have a high attention to detail. I wanted a clean fresh look for the front of our home. Their landscape architect drew up a great plan. See below for picture of one of the front beds. We also had them plant grass in the back yard and we consistently get compliments on how well the grass came in after just a few weeks. Very pleased and highly recommend!

We cant believe the transformation. The previous owners left our backyard in a rough state. Mark (junior) was incredibly professional and clearly communicated to us throughout the entire project; this was especially helpful during the pandemic. The crew that worked on our yard clearly takes great pride in what they do. The flagstone path, mulch and dry river bed are now the envy of our neighbors and friends. They cleaned every space before leaving every day and even took care of a few minor divots in our yard on their way out. Our yard is difficult to access (we live on a busy street with a narrow yard), but they worked around it incredibly well.

Schmitts Landscaping team did a great job on our backyard. It needed a lot of work since we had some tree roots growing into the ground in our area but Schmitts team was diligent and put in all the effort for 2 days straight to give us a perfect grass lawn. Mark(Jr.) gave us all the tips and tricks to maintain the look and gave us honest advice with how much we can get out of the 850 sq ft space we had. I ve used Schmitt s Landscape on a few projects over the years and have always been pleased with the experience. Had new paver patio, sidewalks and raised garden beds installed and they look great. Mark S. listened to what we were looking for in a design and delivered each time. Several trees and shrubs planted on their recommendation and the yard looks good in all seasons. Most recently they installed a dry riverbed to permanently resolve some rain drainage coming from neighboring lots. Wish I did this sooner. Looks good and controls the runoff well. We were very happy with Schmitts Landscaping and the work they did in creating a new backyard terrace for us, which included regrading and drainage. The terrace is beautiful, very well designed, and efficiently installed. We wont know until spring, of course, if all of our flooding problems have been solved, but the during the rains of the last several days, everything is looking good! So far, so good!

Schmidts repaired our brick paver patio for us. We had some sinkage of patio bricks by our our house and water was pooling there during rainstorms. Schmidts removed the problem bricks, built up the area underneath, and then replaced them. The patio looks great and our drainage problems are gone. This is the second time we have used Schmidts and we have been 100% happy with their work both times we did business with them.

We worked with Brad. He was awesome as well as his team. We were having some work done on the garage the same time we were doing the landscaping but it worked out perfectly. They even went above and beyond to do a few other things for our lawn-care. Our landscaping needs mainly focused on privacy and perennials. We had installed quite a few arborvitaes along the fence, although the arborvitae were smaller than expected we do know they will grow in the next few years to create that privacy we were ultimately looking for. We also replaced some old rotted train logs with stones outlining the side of our house and the backyard. Once our garage was complete, We had the team come back out to add more landscaping around the garage to complete the project. The reason for my 4 star rating is because after install we had about 5 arborvitaes die and a few more larger ones about to die. My wife and I came from the city and never had to deal with real landscaping so I wish there was more education from the company about care for what we had installed. We had a water scheduling in play but just didnt seem to work properly for some of the trees. Most of these are under shade and wasnt sure if that had anything to do with it or the soil itself. The team did replace the 5 dead trees which we were grateful for and hoping the remaining ones do come back or get replaced. Overall, the team was great, the service was great, communication could be a little more proactive but wasnt bad. I definitely recommend Schmitts Landscaping for your needs.

This is our 2nd year contracting Schmitts Landscape for snow removal. What sold us on them is the fact they use either a snow shovel or snow blower. No heavy equipment which destroys concrete and landscaping. The snow is removed quietly and efficiently. Never know they been at the house until we look out. Excellent service and places quality above quantity.

We had drainage problems in multiple areas around our house, so it was a fairly large job. Mark provided an excellent assessment of the problem and came up with a great solution. Our experience with Schmitts landscaping was excellent. Not only did they do a fine job of clean up, but we also bought several large trees through them and they planted fantastic specimens, ( which weve been enjoying through the past seasons) . Our beautiful stone, 3 step entrance porch, was done by them, and exceeded our expectations! We are thinking about replacing our deck/patio in the Spring and intend on getting estimates from them!

Mark worked at our previous home in Hinsdale with much success. We recently moved into a new home and hired Mark to landscape our front. His landscape plan was thoughtful which greatly updated the look of our home. He suggested easy to maintain periennals that thrive in our area.
