Wow!! So impressed with Groundworks. My yard is difficult with two hills on a corner lot. I was mowing and my mower conked out. They jumped ito gear and did a great job. Definitely planning to seek regular service!!!

This review is only for a limited experience, over the phone. Ground Works did not do any work for me. I called Ground Works , given that it is well rated. I asked if they can evaluate my house, as I need a lawn, irrigation system and 3 beds for flowers. The person who I spoke with said that he will need to charge me for 1200 dollars to come and take a look and design it, which is extremely high in my opinion. He said it will cost me 40 K before even knowing my surface area and the things I need to be done. How come the price is determined before knowing how big the surface area and what type of trees I want? The experience was repulsive rather than welcoming. I spoke with many other landscapers and the experience was much better.

We couldn t be happier with the experience we had working with Ground Works. They did an amazing job on our backyard project - we extended our deck a considerable amount, while also adding a paver patio and fireplace. I have to give kudos to the entire team on their friendliness, professionalism, and most importantly communication. From Dave and Joey in Sales to Matt with Design, the whole construction crew, and Brandon who managed the whole project - thank you! Their team stuck to the schedule, and their consistent check-ins showed their commitment to our satisfaction. We love our new backyard! New construction home means new landscaping. So happy I found Ground Works! Working with Steve was easy and very professional. He responded very quickly to all my needs. The work crew was awesome. They listened to me and respected my ideas. They worked fast and they cleaned up well. When I needed them to come back to fix a bed that was damaged by a construction crew, they were on top of it. Service like that is hard to come by these days. Over all, a great value and a great experience. And the plantings are beautiful and healthy (not tiny little plants and bushes either.) In 2020, Ground Works performed a complete tear out and overhaul of our small backyard landscaping. They incorporated many plants that quickly outgrew the beds and were not appropriate for the size of the space. The Limelight hydrangeas have taken over and will need to be removed, despite heavy pruning twice a year. 2 of the 3 Arborvitae died within 12 months of planting. I placed numerous phone calls to the sales rep (Dave) within the warranty period, and never received a call back. After this year, only two items will remain from the original plantings, the Fat Albert spruce trees. I would not recommend them for landscape design or their customer service. Plus a poor value all around given what we paid.

The Ground Works team is exceptionally professional with an outstanding level of quality and timely service. They created a gorgeous multilevel patio for us 2 years ago that includes a fireplace, fire pit, and lighted pergola. The multilevel landscape design surrounding the patio was also gorgeous. This transformed our backyard into a beautiful escape. We liked this so much that we asked them to come back this year and transform our front yard with their thoughtful landscape design process. We cannot say enough about this group. Every detail is thought out. They are consummate professionals and very responsive. We have worked with many landscape designers in the past 20 years, and none can compare.

We are in love with our new backyard addition, and overall very happy we chose Ground Works to help us bring it to life. The quality is solid, the process is thorough, and the team is great to work with. There were several hiccups along the way in terms of execution and communication that required us to be more involved in oversight than we anticipated, but in each case, Ground Works was quick to respond and make things right without any fuss (as weve come to learn, no project runs perfectly, so you have to stay plugged in). They were intensely focused on our ultimate happiness, which meant addressing all concerns, accommodating all requests, and in some cases going above and beyond. So in the end, we are very pleased, and would definitely recommend their services.

We really lucked out by choosing to work with Ground Works. We had been planning a back patio project for a few years and had a pretty good idea of what we wanted, and the Ground Works team really listened to our needs/wants and helped bring our vision to life. We have used Groundworks for many things but this is the first time we have had them clear the snow from our lot, aprons, and sidewalks. I called just this morning, and at 2 p.m. the job is totally done! They did it quickly, professionally, and after plowing they shoveled by to make sure that our gates were accessible, and the sidewalks where they pushed snow onto were cleared by them so they were passable again. The men they sent were totally professional and friendly. I would recommend them.

Ground Works Land Design recently completed a massive overhaul of our backyard. They put in a patio, grill, firepit, and all new landscaping surrounding it. Tony and Brandon made things seamless from start to finish with their proposal, design, and completion of the work ahead of schedule. Andy and his crew were at our house daily and you could tell he truly cared about the work he was doing. Andy made sure all of our questions were answered and everything was completed to how we wanted it. He was excellent to work with and I cannot recommend him enough, as well as the entire Ground Works team.

I signed a contract with GroundWorks last fall and they didn t fulfill the contract by the end of the year. Their crew didn t speak English and they cut down my pachysandra which they promised to replace but did not. They were supposed to cut back my hydrangeas and did not. Too expensive.

If you take even one second to research the portfolio of projects and services that Groundworks has to offer, you will notice, almost instantaneously, the consistently tremendous quality in the wide-ranging work they provide as an organization. What you might not know, without experiencing it first hand, is that despite all the amazing architectural designs and large-scale projects they complete, they are also masters of detail in even the every day maintenance service they provide. I sought out Ground Works Land Design to help revitalize my landscaping mid way through the summer and I was thoroughly impressed with the professionalism and pride that went into even the smallest of jobs. Knowing that a large part of their business is centered on large scale projects, the way in which they approached my much smaller job says all you need to know about the integrity of the company. We are so happy with our decision to work with Ground Works to regrade and seed our backyard. Our yard was incredibly uneven and unsafe to walk or run on, and we had a large area that needed seed after removing a pool. The team was punctual, efficient and professional. Ground Works is a young and quickly growing company. Of the large team they have, we were so extremely pleased to have the crew members and subcontractors we did, who brought our vision to life. From architectural design to construction and landscaping installation, we landed a high quality team, that are not only extremely talented, but polite and accommodating.

Update - 27 May 2021: A day after my Google review, I received a phone call and a $300 refund was offered, HOWEVER, under the condition to improve or remove my review, which I declined. As a consequence, the refund was never made. A few more e-mails back and forth, where I explained that this review is not about a loss of $300, but about the overall experience to not try and make it happen and instead leaving me with a take it or leave it attitude to accept a quote which exceeded my requested budget by 100%. Thus wasting several weeks of my time that I could have used with a different contractor to get started. - Original Review: We were looking for a contractor to remove our old cracked concrete patio and replace it with something nice. Any additional improvements were bonus and we felt that our budget of $8-14k should get us there. The first impression was very positive. Fast response and a visit only a few days later, where we learned what all is wrong with our front- & backyard (we don t think it s THAT horrible, but the advice / ideas are generally good). During the visit we asked for a rough order of magnitude price to realize some of Tony s visions for the backyard (patio, pergola, landscaping ) and were a little shocked about the $30k estimate. I reminded him about our budget and that we might be OK to spend $30k over a period of 2-3 years, but not in year 1. He seemed confident that this wasn t necessary and promised to get back to us to get the design survey / study started (which is a fee that is NOT reimbursed even if you realize the project with Ground Works Land Design). It all took a while after I paid the $300, but eventually somebody showed up to take measurements and after another few reminders, we finally received a first quote. It came in at well over $20k. The contract reads that something is designed within the client s desired budget (which we clearly stated as described above and again in writing for the survey) and they would iterate if necessary to make it a fit. Reality was different: The project leaves no room for improvement and cannot be realized in stages. Given that the stairs (3 steps!!) alone came in at almost $8k, I wondered why we even started any design survey. Even with zero additional re-grading (which seemed one cause for the unexpected high quote), the concrete work and stairs exceeded our budget maximum. Unfortunately, the interest seemed to expire after we made clear that our initial budget of $8-14k (depending on project scope) for the FIRST year is non-negotiable. Tony brought up the idea, to get the stairs done by a different contractor after I told him that we got a price for stairs for less than $3k. We sent some additional pictures to revise the quote and add more regrading work while removing the stairs. Two weeks later, I ve still not heard back and since the whole communication slowed down more and more, we abandoned this quote and got somebody else in place who clarified measurements, quotes, negotiation and details with us in less than 10 days. We look forward to getting the same result for less than half the price now. For larger projects, Ground Works is probably a good fit and I still think they ll do a great quality job. In our case, however, we could have all saved time (and money) by letting us know that they are not interested in a $10-12k project, or are too busy or whatever else may have caused this underwhelming experience.

I contracted Groundworks to revitalize a yard that was in desperate need of TLC. They far exceeded my expectations. We started with a punctual, prompt, efficient quote and walk through of my yard, with Dave. Then a Spring Cleanup that resulted in well manicured flower beds, a fantastic pruning job, and great design and selection of the annual beds. We also had beautifully planted and designed flower pots at the front door and patio. In addition, they did a great job cleaning and maintaining our paver patio and creating great curb appeal with installing up-lights. Their weekly maintenance of maintaining the lawn is exceptional. The entire crew of Groundworks is respectful, mindful, and have incredible attention to detail. They were all very easy to work with and made many suggestions for improvement. They truly aimed to please. Without hesitation, I would highly recommend Groundworks for your landscape needs- big or small. There is nothing they can t handle. Bravo, Bravo, Groundworks

This company has over promised and failed to deliver from Day 1. Submitted a web form for a quote that was never responded to. Gave them the benefit of the doubt, so called to follow up. The company apologized and sent Dave out. We walked through the yard and I pointed out everything we wanted done (a significant amount of work, so in their interest to deliver). Was told I d receive proposed design in 2 weeks. That was on September 24. Since then, nothing, despite two calls/conversations with employees promising better service, and one voicemail from Dave on on 10/22 telling me I d have design by the end of that week. We ve now lost our chance to have work done this year. Extremely unhappy!

From the moment that I called Groundworks I knew it was not just another fly by night landscaping company. Once everything was picked out and the drawings were approved Ray showed up with his crew and commenced on getting to work. Ray and his crew did an awesome job and kept my wife and I informed on what was going to happen each day. We absolutely love the job that the guys did and cannot wait to have them back in the spring time to get another phase done. After using this company, there is no reason to look any further. Ground Works recently completed a big job at our house and we are very pleased with it. Around our existing patio they installed 4 stone columns, fencing, 2 gates, lighting, and an outdoor cooking station with a built-in gas grill and granite top. We had landscaping on the sides or back of our house. They dug it all out by hand and planted hostas, hydrangeas, and other plants in either river rocks or dirt and mulch. They also added steps and boulders in the back. The workers were all dependable, friendly, efficient, hardworking, and very competent. We highly recommend Ground Works. Jack & Lori Sammon

I will forever be grateful to Tony Nazarella and Ground Works. In 2012 my husband died unexpectedly. I hired Ground Works that summer to take care of my yard. They did a great job. Then in October of 2012, Hurricane Sandy hit and she hit hard. I remember looking out my bedroom window the morning after to all the leaves and tree limbs down in my backyard. Feeling overwhelmed, scared and distraught I didnt know where to turn. A few minutes later, I was greeted not only by the Ground Works crew but also by Tony. They were all cleaning up the debris in my backyard from the storm. I remember running out to Tony and giving him a big hug. He may not remember this kind gesture, but I always will . Maybe a small act of kindness from Ground Works, but a huge gift and blessing to me.

Ive used Ground Works a couple times but more recently on a large landscaping project. GW provided a great plan with a sketch of the proposed design. I decided to move forward on what they proposed, and their execution and results turned out to be excellent. They really captured the look we were going for. The gentlemen doing the work were professional and knowledgeable. Overall a great experience and great value.

Such a fantastic experience with Ground Works! Great communication with Dave beforehand, and Tristan and his crew (Javier, Angel and Ricky) worked like crazy the day of. They came across some unforeseen obstacles in our yard, but handled it all the same day. They did a beautiful job on the landscaping, and cleaned everything up better than we ever would! So happy with the service and the results, and would recommend them for sure!

Drew and his crew are taking excellent care of my yard in a challenging summer. Not only is it hot, and has been very dry, but working through the pandemic while maintaining a high level of professionalism and attention to detail is impressive. I have been using Ground Works for several years now, and have made recommendations to neighbors. I couldnt be more pleased with their service. They also respond exceptionally well to the rare challenge I send, like when they missed mulching a very small utility box area that looks like it could be my neighbors. Great to work with Tony and Brandon. I will update my review after results but so far they have been by far one of the most reputable and professional companies to deal with. When it comes to landscaping its hard to trust a company to make sure they stand behind their work but Ground Works is literally one of the best in the area if not all of Ohio. You will pay a little more then the next guy with ground works but its worth every penny to have that piece of mind. I was worried about how grading was going to be done considering the size of the lot but Tony has an amazing crew that will make sure its done right I mean Perfect. No other company has compared by a long shot this is my second time doing the landscaping on my property and its a night and day difference. If you have an opportunity to work with ground works its worth the wait and the cost. I will upload photos once plants mature and grass comes in.

Ground Works is THE only landscaper to use. Tony and his team are very professional, polite and friendly. I suggest to schedule your project sooner than later, their scheduling months in advance. Our landscaping was a HUGE project that we thought about doing for months, while interviewing a variety of different landscape companies. Ground Works Land Design estimate was not the lowest, nor was it the highest, however we felt strongly that it was a very fair price for the beautiful job that was performed. All the work was completed, as expected, and there were no hidden costs or surprises! Tony was fun to work with too, and he was very patient while we took our time to finalize the plan. Their landscape artist, Brandon, was also a pleasure to work with, and, together, they came up with a beautiful design! From day one, to the completion of the project, the crew was awesome to work with! They arrived on time; were very courteous, friendly, and truly appeared invested in doing the best work possible. Despite some grueling hot summer days, they just kept on working, as hard as ever! They were also open to my questions and quickly responded to, and resolved, any concern we may have had! It was truly a joy to work with such a professional, dedicated team. Many neighbors have stopped by to tell us how beautiful the house looks. One neighbor, in particular, made it a point to visit me to say how very impressed she was with the professionalism and work ethic of the crew, as well as the wonderful work they did. There are lots of companies out there, but, for all my family and friends, I would wholeheartedly recommend they use Ground Works Land Design for all their landscape needs! We highly recommend Ground Works. We had a garage built this summer which left our yard with large trenches and many issues. We were very overwhelmed. After talking with Tony, it quickly became clear that we had found the right company for the job. The crew who laid our sod did an amazing job! We recently updated our entire outdoor living space which included all new landscaping, lighting, extensive concrete work, deck and patio designs. After getting several contractor bids, we selected Ground Works Land Design. It was a huge job and we are thrilled with the results. The crew was highly professional and extremely friendly. They went out of their way to work with our family to ensure we loved the final result. Our house now has beautiful curb appeal that brings a smile to my face every time I pull into our new driveway !

Interviewed a few different providers for a backyard makeover on a home we just purchased. Essentially a complete overhaul, as the yard was overgrown, different trees and shrubs everywhere, no flow. We decided after an onsite visit from the owner Tony, that GroundWorks was our choice. Sure you can hire a one man show type of landscaper to probably do it a little cheaper, I have been down that road before. Take months, offer little direction, and leave you with figuring out most of the plan on top of not doing things how they should be done; or you can hire Groundworks. From start to finish these guys were extremely professional, timely, clean, and knowledgeable. They gave different options at different price points and worked to hit our budget. They had a design back quick to us, installed a patio, moved existing trees and shrubs around, added new plantings where necessary, and laid sod. Had a few little kinks on the project no fault to GroundWorks, and they were all over it adapting to different things on the fly and keeping schedule. I have Tony coming out to scope a project for next spring on the front yard. Go with these guys, you wont be disappointed.
