You may notice that other than this review, all the others are over two years old. I guess it was a guy named Mike that came by when I was not home and claimed he did some work. I wanted to meet him to explain what he was going to do ahead of doing it, and scheduled it for a time that I would be home. He showed up unannounced a day early, did something, maybe, and then billed me three times what I understood the agreement to be. I have no receipt or a copy of an agreement and am not clear at all as to what was done. This guy is a bandit and his website reviews are either very old from when maybe he did good work or they are fictitious. I RECOMMEND YOU DO NOT GIVE HIM YOUR CREDIT CARD INFO OR AGREE TO HAVE HIS STEP FOOT ON YOUR PROPERTY. HE ALSO FAILED TO PROVIDE ANY PROOF OF INSURANCE.
I have had the worst communication experience working with Mike. He was rude when I emailed him with issues I had and he has completely stopped responding to emails. I receive daily invoice reminders, but was charged for weeks where service was not completed and cannot seem to get any answers from him. This is my first year hiring a lawn service and I completely regret my decision in choosing this company. Completely unprofessional. Do not waste your time or money. This is a direct quote from the last response I received from him in early June. “Sorry that you don’t like my commmunication instructions. The best thing about owning a business is not having to worry too much about that stuff.” *Addition* I have NEVER missed a bill payment and am currently trying to pay my bill but mike YOU will not respond. Picture for proof of multiple emails. Again, HORRENDOUS customer service. Charge me for contract breach and I will GLADLY take it to court. I have photo proof of services not provided.
The workers arrived promptly on schedule. The were polite and respectful gentlemen. They got right to it and worked swiftly and expertly as a coordinated team. They removed the debris efficiently and carted it off. Very professional crew with excellent equipment. My yard looks great! Now the real test...would I hire them again? - Yes, I would absolutely hire the Green Team again.
Mike arrived on time and got to work dethatching and aerating my lawn immediately. He was courteous and took time to walk my property with me to educate me better on some troubled areas. He offered me advice on mowing practices in order to avoid more thatch in the future. I am very happy with Green Team and will definitely be using the service again. #SupportSmallBusinesses
Mike and his team are top notch. They have been cutting my commercial property for a few years now. I’ve never once had to look at my grass and say “I need it cut!” They have always shown up on time, and kept my grass green and cut. He’s got the grass growing better than it ever has. He recently weed whacked around my entire property and it’s night and day. 10000% better. Highly recommended! You won’t find a better owner, company, or professional lawn care business!
Was renting a home in Old Saybrook. Saw the sign for The Green Team Lawn Care at a neighbors house and figured if they can be trusted there, they can be trusted here. Called them up, received a quick response and discussion on what I needed done. We agreed on weekly cuts at a reasonable price. The guys were out the following week and did a great job of keeping my lawn at bay even with all the rain causing quick grow rates. Just recently had to cancel my account as my landlords cut my lease short and Mike was extremely understanding of the situation. Made this already difficult and hectic time easier. Thank you Mr. Ortiz.
What a terrible experience. We normally do our own mulch but due to our age, my husbands medical issues and caring for an elderly father, we hired Green Team for this year. We specified an animal friendly mulch and expected no substitutions. After receiving an invoice for final work, I sent an email indicating that 6 beds had not even been mulched. Mr Ortiz came back, unannounced, and attempted to mulch the unfinished work with a completely different product. Different in color, texture and material. By the time my husband saw the work, there were 3 different types and colors of mulch in our yard. We were angry and even angrier when Mr Ortiz of Green Team would not, or could not tell us if the substitute product was animal friendly. He was asked (angrily) to leave our property. We have sent payment, via US mail, to Mr Ortiz for the balance due less cost for us to have the inferior product removed, new product delivered and labor to spread the replacement mulch. Mr Ortiz responds to this by threatening a mechanics lien, collection activity and court. He would not respond to emails sent and he hung the phone up after ranting. In response to Mr Ortiz reply below, it is true that we were angry at being billed before work was completed and also at the unannounced entry to our property. How does this man not understand the words A CHECK HAS BEEN MAILED! We are just waiting for the quotes to finish remedy his work and then balance will be mailed or he can refund if we have over paid. His language and behavior at our home was terrible.
We recently had some landscaping work performed, and GreenTeam has really brought the property together. What would have taken me days to do(or maybe even a week), they did in half of a day. This was well worth the costs, which were extremely reasonable. I would certainly recommend them for lawn care and landscaping needs. On a side note, Mike is extremely nice and quite funny if you happen to have the wonderful opportunity to chat with him in person.
Nice through job thatching, seeding and clean up. Crew was polite and did a nice job.

I can t say enough about how impressed I am with the Green Team. Very responsive, always answers calls/emails quickly, and very meticulous. Happy to have found them since I m new to the area!
Where do I begin! I was lured by the 50$ per lawn application. What the company neglects to tell you is, if you happen to miss the email that they send you the day before and you dont click confirm, you are out of luck because they wont come back and do the missed service, you have to wait for next month. With back and forth emails here comes the next month, they dont pick up with the missed application, they did the july schedule was weed control. So I missed the grub and spring application as stated on the original quote. When I complain that I missed a crucial application , he then said that fertilizer is not given the same as grub..what! So the application that I did get was weed control which consisted of a guy randomly walking with a wand doing spot spraying on weeds. Seriously, be careful and do your homework. My bad for going the cheaper route..you do get what you pay for. Mr ortiz did respond to me most of the time, and he canceled the rest of my service.
Weeds are getting under control, grass is finally coming up in areas I previously seeded but it never worked! They are next coming to do crabgrass and aeration/seeding - I am so happy with this company! And the products used are organic which makes this more amazing. Thank you Green Team!
Mike and his team are courteous, hardworking, prompt, do a good job, and leave the worksite meticulous. They just took care of some extremely big overgrown bushes in a timely manner today even though it was showering on and off too!! Highly recommend the Green Team

I felt like I wasted my money hiring the Green Team. It was a bad experience.
I had the WORST experience with this company! If I could give zero stars I would! I wish that I could say it was great like all the other reviews. I asked for a spring clean up for my front and back yard. A man and a woman came, without my knowledge that they had booked me for that day. They blew majority of the leaves into the corner of my yard, against our fence, next to our neighbors house, even though I asked for leaf removal. Plus, they mowed the lawn but it was very uneven. I emailed the manager of the company to tell him this and without the slightest apology, he told me cutting the lawn was not included, it is a curtesy and he just had me down for leaf blowing only. I referred back to the invoice he sent me which said leaf removal. He then said reluctantly that he would schedule me for a re-do but made it clear that cutting the lawn was not included. I agreed and the same man from the first time came back unannounced AGAIN, and proceeded to blow the leaves again, this time into my neighbors yard. My neighbor came over to tell us this and a couple of days later, she proceeded to throw all of the leaves back into our yard. So now I had to clean up the leaves myself. This job was most certainly NOT worth $295.00. It was a NIGHTMARE! I will never be using this company again. Please be warned!!!!
Poor customer service and ridiculously high prices - I called to get an estimate and they said they would be by that day. They showed up three days later with no communication and just walked into my backyard without even letting us know they were there. They then provided a quote that was 3 times the amount of 2 other companies, who had actually shown up when they said they would and came to the door. I then stated these reasons as to why we would be going with a different company because I thought the feedback may be able to help them improve their customer service in the future and they said they were not worried about all those silly complaints. With all the other options available for basic services such as they provide I would highly recommend people look elsewhere.
