If you’re looking for a great company to help with anything landscaping, stop looking! USE ASHTON! Chip and his team were amazing to work with. Chip really listened to what we wanted and helped us accomplish it. His crew was respectful of our property and always left the project tidy and clean. We had an 80 foot long by 6 foot high retaining wall put in. The craftsmanship of Ashton is incredible. It was nice to utilize a company who was a one stop shop. They did all hard scape, irrigation, yard clean up, sod, and landscaping. The team was easy to get a hold of and communicated appropriately regarding any delays due to weather.
Ashton Landscaping does a wonderful job for our property. They have competent people doing their landscaping. If you call the office, for any reason, the staff is always ready, willing and able to handle your needs.

I have been thoroughly disappointed by this company. The results speak for themselves, check out the photos. After nearly 6 months, the lawn is inundated with weeds, the grass along my beds and trees was sprayed instead of the weeds, the lawn is continually cut much higher than requested, and the company has given a mediocre response to my concerns. The owner and the front office did not respond to an email or formal legal letter outlining my concerns. The sales representative promised to cut my warm season grass to my specifications which was short, yet failed to deliver. They keep telling me I have to wait to see results. They've had 6 months and the weeds keep getting worse and the lawn looks terrible. I hope this review gives prospective clients a look at what "professional" lawncare looks like. This honestly has been the worst experience I've had with a company in the last decade. What really stands out to me is the owner's complete lack of response to my concerns even when trying to work through things in a professional manner, especially after having used them for a very high-cost landscaping project. The lawncare service is abysmal. Take a look at what you will be locking in for their 1-year contract before signing. They want to hold the customer like myself to the contract, yet completely fail to deliver results as pitched.
Ashton Landscaping was highly recommended by a coworker and I am so glad I decided to go with them. My yard has transformed in a matter of weeks! I’ve lived here for 3 years and have fought weeds and patchiness since day one. So glad I got the pros to handle it. Weeds are almost completely gone from the front and grass is slowly appearing in those dry areas. I will be recommending their service to anyone who will listen! Thanks for being prompt and consistent! I truly appreciate it.
My husband and I spent a 3 month process deciding and determining steps for our backyard that went from a wild mud pit and was completely transformed. We enjoyed our experience with Ashton Landscaping truly from top to bottom. The work was done QUICKLY and professionally and looks absolutely fantastic. We had ground brush clearing, tilling, the creation of a bordered play area, the creation of a metal bordered mulched beds as well as sod installation completed. The price was very fair, and money well spent. The price quoted was also the least expensive of 3-4 quotes received. I hesitated to choose Ashton after reading some reviews, however, I had a feeling in the end they would do a great job. I even enjoyed communicating with the office manager, Maggie, who is an expert on all things, and our project/quote manager Derrick, who is very kind. I will note that we did have to make some edits to the original quote in order to TRULY clarify every aspect of the job. If we had not done our research prior, there may have been some things left off. For a big job like sod installation - I would definitely recommend anyone double check work before moving forwards with any contract or payment. I don't anticipate further needs with Ashton Landscaping at this point since the job was so well done - but would definitely recommend to a friend or neighbor.
If I could rate them no stars I would... we paid Ashton a little over 10K to do our front yard. They did the work in November of last year and when summer came around it was apparent that some of the plants they used were too tall and because they were too tall they had essentially killed the plants behind them. We went with Ashton because they had guaranteed if any of the plants died within a year they would replace them. We have tried contacting them this entire summer and have been getting the run around. The last we were told was we are waiting on them to make a decision?? I am super upset we went with them. We had plans of asking them to do our back yard but after the cost and service we have received with the front yard we are definitely looking for some one else to do it. Would not recommend Ashton Landscaping for anything.
We had Ashton plant 3 Leyland Cypress trees on our property. Soon after, it was apparent they were not thriving. Several times I asked them to come out to check on them and advise me as to what they needed. They never came. I provided pictures and was told at various times that they needed more water, less water, and more water. Ultimately the trees died. I have contacted them multiple times to replace them, but nothing has been done.
Damages neighbors property and staff fails to get permission before trespassing.
I would not recommend this company to anyone. If I was able to give 0 stars I would. Thoroughly disappointed with the workplace culture and unethical process that is used within the company. The Better Business Bureau and Department of Labor will be made aware . If a company cannot respect its workers , why would they respect their customers. Do not recommend.
Great landscaping done by great group of dedicated staff! Our complex, Browningstone in West Neck has never looked better! The men and women work very hard!
I reached out to you and asked for services for hedge trimming; I paid you a down payment for this privilege of your benefits of $1,000.00 on September 21, 2023. Yet I have not seen any hedges trimmed, nor have you answered phones or any other forms of communications. Unfortunately, your services are no longer required, as your standard business practice allows 365 days to complete all services you are contracted to perform. I hired another company that is not as deceitful in their business practices. I have contacted the BBB of VA (Better Business Bureau of Virginia) and the Department of Aging about your practices. I will also post about your lack of services on social media after charging so much for expert assistance. I am filing a fraud suit against your company on November 20, 2023, with the Attorney General of Virginia for your inactions. I have already gone through my bank and was informed that getting a refund of the charges returned was impossible due to your fraudulent business practices. If I have not heard from you before 11.20.23, I will contact the AG of VA. Thank you for the speed with which you dealt with this contract. I look forward to hearing from you soon regarding this matter. As well as an explanation of why you think taking money from a black 90-year-old senior citizen is good practice.
We tried for years to get our yard looking great and never really got it there. We got close but once we went with Ashton it looked exactly how we always wanted it to. I recommend the slit seeding right during the fall. That s what made it turn for us!
Weekly mowing/edging and Spring Clean-up. Excellent Customer service, quick to respond to any questions, always on time with service. Excellent communication. Crew workers professional, excellent work, responsive to requests. Clean up. Yard looks great. I highly recommend!
Nothing to do with their work, however whoever was driving this truck yesterday (6/2/22 430ish) needs to learn to drive. Varying speeds from 35-45 down Indian river, going over the line multiple times and no turn signal usage. Poor driving on the advertised trucks will not help gain customers.
My husband and I met with Chip to talk with him about our yard, which at the time was just weeds and Dallas grass. We wanted a one-stop-shop so we did not have to coordinate multiple contractors & he delivered! He designed a beautiful landscaped yard and explained why he choose the plants he did (so we will have items blooming from spring through the fall). His crew came in and dug-out all of the weeds & grass...by hand, installed an inground watering system...by hand and planted the most beautiful plants, trees, inground lighting, and sod you have ever seen. His team is run by Mike and I cannot tell you how professional he was and the guys who worked with him on the yard were fabulous. They answered all of our questions even after they were done & gone, we can text them (which we have) and they are quick to respond with the answer or will drive out to talk with us...we live in Sandbridge. They even have a maintenance plan if you choose to have someone else do the up-keep. I very highly recommend them to anyone.

Ashton is working on my neighbors house across the street. They saw us setting up for a party outside today. The foreman came over and asked if we wanted them to blow the leaves off my drive way. Didn t ask for money - just being cool. They blew the leaves, bagged them up, and moved their trucks down a bit to give us some space for the party. Super classy move. Thanks guys.
I am so happy with the landscape work that I had done. I recently moved to the area and really had no idea about reputable companies. I saw Ashton Landscape trucks in my neighborhood, so decided to give them a call- Ashton as well as other companies that saw signs for. Ashton was the first company to reply. The gentleman that came out to give the estimate was professional thorough. It wasnt until later that I realized it was the owner. We decided to sign on for the lawn maintenance and have Ashton re-do some planter beds that I had in the front of my house. We are very happy with all of the work and interactions. I feel good about supporting a family owned business. Maybe it is because I am from New York that I am not used to Southern Hospitality, but I think Ashton Landscaping goes ABOVE & BEYOND!
I had a great experience with Ashton Landscaping. I have had bad experiences in the past with other companies planting sod on my front lawn. Chip was always professional. During the consultation phase I treated him with mistrust. He replied politely with understanding and clearly stated his methodology and follow up. The cost was very reasonable. Because I trusted him with my lawn, I entered into an agreement about Lawn maintenance. All winter long, my lawn was green and healthy. This spring the lawn is thick, green and growing. I highly recommend Ashton Landscaping.

Ashton Landscaping took care of a large project for us, removing old overgrown shrubs & planting new, installing french drains to help with areas where water collects frequently, creating new mulch beds with planting around patio areas, as well as seasonal shaping/trimming and mulching. Everything looks great, the team was efficient and professional - will definitely hire them again!
I reached out to Ashton Landscaping because of a postcard we received marketing there services. Our yard needed a major clean up including removal of existing shrubs and plants and shrubs. I place the call and was immediately helped and an appointment was set quickly for a consultation and estimate of cost. I met with Joel who was professional and thoroughly listened to what I wanted and made suggestions for me to consider. An estimate was sent to me me right away and I signed up for their services. Clean up and installation was delayed by me due to needing an electrician to come and install junction boxes for up lighting in a couple of our trees. Ashtons office, in particular Maggie, was very good at checking in with me to see if the electrical work had been done and once it had an appointment was set for the yard work to be done. The crew that came out to do the work was professional, polite, hard working, and did a great job. I would recommend Ashton Landscaping to anyone as they were always professional, did what they said they were going to do, and did a wonderful job!

I called 4 landscaping companies in Virginia Beach and only Ashton Landscaping was of help. I had basic questions about sod. None of the other 3 companies would take the time to answer them. We started with Ashton landscaping about 6 months ago. Kevin is the one that came an treated out lawn and since day one he was completely honest and told me that my Bermuda glasses needed some TLC but that by the summer it will be thick and green! Andxthats exactly what has,happened! We couldnt be any happier with how our Bermuda grass looks! Im definitely continuing my business with this great company!! Thanks Kevin!!

I have been using Ashton landscaping since about 2012, and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND them! My yard has always looked immaculate, and the staff has always been very nice and personable. The owner himself has personally come and spoke with me and is very professional and friendly. They always come to me in a timely matter, so I m very thankful for that as well. Ps. I have the greenest grass in the neighborhood :)
Ashton Landscaping did a great job designing a butterfly/hummingbird flower bed for me. When one kind of plant is out of peak bloom, another one takes a turn. He planned it perfectly to maximize ongoing blooms and the butterfly s and hummingbirds love it!
I would not recommend this company. I requested a quote on sod and some work on my beds. The quote was bloated (even after the budget was explained) and the rendering was unusable. Wasted $250. I made multiple calls to work this out but they were not very responsive to calls. The staff are pretty skilled at misdirection and delays. I like local and support them when I can but I would not recommend this one. They did not earn my business or my recommendation.
We had Ashton for many years and were happy with their work back then. Now, their work has taken a terrible turn. The quality is terrible (they killed my entire front grass), phone calls are never returned, and work that was promised never gets done. I am completely dissatisfied and would not recommend using them for any of your lawn care/ landscaping needs.
We won a free service with them for my dad being a vet. My dad had advaced stage four cancer when he won this and took extreme joy and pride in his yard since he didnt leave the house. He poured hours in the grass looking nice and they killed all of it. Now Im trying to get it fixed and they wont fix it. My dad died with his yard in shambles because they cant own up to their own mistakes and fix them. I do not recommend them. They will kill your grass then leave you high and dry and say that you did something to it to kill it. Bad bad bad Pr. Ive contacted the news because its not right. If you break or mess something up you should fix it.
Weve used Ashton Landscaping to do complete exterior landscape and lawn care on two of our homes in Virginia Beach. Both homes needed grading, landscape design, bed prep, landscape, lawns and sprinkler systems. Chip Ashton is a gentleman who treats his customers with respect and has a great eye for detail. He is easy to get in touch with and fast to answer questions. If there are any issues he is quick to resolve them. Both of our homes looked amazing after they were completed. We also used Aston to do our lawn care. They trim, weed, fertilize and seed and our lawns look like carpets. Chips staff are great too. Im a big fan of small local companies that succeed and we are proud to have chosen Ashton Landscaping.
