Wheats is a great landscape company and they do an incredible job.

Unfortunately I was disappointed in Wheats landscaping. They kept using weed killer that burned 3/4 of my front lawn. Very sad. When I asked them about it and wanted to know what happened they said it was because of the heat. However zoysia grass is very heat tolerant. I discontinued service and it took a year to grow back the grass. My neighbors also complained about the workmen blowing leaves into their yard on a continual basis. Very disappointing.

Just called for an estimate to get some work done in my backyard. Was told they don t service my area. I ve never had a business in NoVa turn down my business. Btw, I m 10 to 15 min from Vienna. Gobsmacked.

Wheats has maintained my lawn for years and has managed special projects that enhance my yard. I dont think there is an area of my property that they have not touched. My lawn, plants, bushes and flowers always look beautiful. My grass is healthy and perfectly cut each week. Their spring, summer and fall clean-ups are thorough, and I dont have a weed anywhere to be seen. I never need to worry about leaf collection in the fall. Recently Wheats installed boulders along my pool deck to ensure rain water and mulch did not flow into my pool. Their work was perfect. The boulders look great and blend nicely with the rest of my stonework. And, the mission was accomplished as no mulch escaped through this barricade during our last major storm. Wheat s was fantastic in helping us add more curb appeal to our home. The current state was overgrown and dated, and Wes and team managed to transform the space to be clean and open, while also making use of an existing Japanese maple that was completely hidden in the current garden. We originally contracted certain services, which were not fulfilled by the Wheats team. It took over 7+ months of continuous reminders and attempts to communicate what was (or wasnt) being completed and we were told that it would be soon or throughout the next few months. Finally, they ended up giving us an additional quote (nearly $10K) to complete the necessary services originally quoted in the contract. The scope had expanded due to their lack of maintenance from when originally contracted (basic leaf and debris removal turned into clearing an entire area of growth). No response from management despite trying to get in contact with someone so finally had to cancel services. Extremely disappointed considering how much was paid. Do not recommend.

We had Wheats help us design a privacy tree line next to our deck. Matt and his team came out and architected the whole thing exactly the way we wanted. They removed a small tree, installed a new drainage line, put in four 10-foot tall giant green arborvitaes, and finished the whole thing with really nice river jack stone. They did the whole job in a single day with a great team and it looks amazing. Highly recommend Wheats.

Wheat s did a complete re-do of our back yard and side yards. Loved working with their designer who understood exactly what we wanted. He also understood that everything had to be deer-proof! The guys that installed all the bushes and sod and repaired a rotten wooden wall were amazing! Fast, meticulous and so neat! Every single thing that Wheat s planted lived through the hot summer, and every single bush was not touched by deer all summer and winter! This company is very organized, great management at each level, and just really wonderful to work with! In fact, I just contacted them last week to do a bit more work for us-can t travel, may as well make your living space exactly how you imagine it could be!!! I have an annual contact with Wheat s Landscaping and use them for nearly year round maintenance of my yard. I ve had them do design, plantings, aeration, over seeding and annual mulching but the biggest timesaver for me is the maintenance where they do weeding, shrubbery trimming and those activities weekly. I enjoy doing yard work but could never keep up with the flower bed, lawn weeding, and trimming. With Wheats, the crews and the service are both very trustworthy and reliable and they take all the weeds they pull with them. Strangers and neighbors stop and ask about my yard and tell me they want a lawn like mine. I give them 5 stars!

Wheats has maintained our landscaping for many years, they manage irrigation and lighting, they have managed drainage and made improvements. They handle the cycling of blooming plants so we have color all year around. The account manager is responsive and uses email (which helps a lot). The billing arrangements are efficient. The team leaves written confirmation of their work. They handle snow and leaf removal, pruning and trimming. This is a very reliable operation.

Our experience with Wheat s Landscaping has been an outstanding one, from the initial design consultation to the execution of each step. Our design consultant had wonderful ideas, understood our vision and worked closely with us to make it a reality. Our project manager and install crew were just amazing every step of the way! Robert, our project manager was informative and quickly responded to my inquiries. The install crew worked at our home for many weeks, improving yard irrigation and installing a flagstone walkway, irrigation system and many plantings. Their attention to detail was unmatched. I was most impressed by their efforts to go over and beyond in improving the function of our space and making it look great in the process. Fairfax County required me to do some maintenance on my home Stormwater Management Facility. I contacted several of the companies that had gone through the county training and was surprised that only three were willing to visit my property. I noticed a difference immediately, starting with the Wheat s representative who came out to assess the job (Kane Ramsey). Wheat s was very professional and comprehensive in their approach. They were willing to handle all aspects of the work while the other two companies wanted to do only portions of the work. I was pleased with Wheat s attention to details in their visit and in talking with me about the job. They took pictures of the work areas and drew on them to show the specific areas that were going to be fixed. Wheat s really made it easy to deal with one company and get the entire job done! Additionally, Wheat s was accustomed to dealing with the county and documented the entire project in writing and with pictures. They submitted and secured all the required county approvals for me once the job was done. Wheat s finished the job very quickly once they got started. The crew was excellent and cleaned up the work areas completely. I am a completely satisfied customer and highly recommend Wheat s.

We hired Wheats for a drainage issue and landscape mulching on our property . They were quick and responsive throughout the project. The work took two days - and they did an outstanding job. I have had a wonderful experience with Wheats landscape. They done a great job landscaping the property, recommending beautiful plants and trees, and maintaining everything. In addition, however, they took care of some major water issues we were facing during the heavy rains and installed a pretty innovative approach to addressing the problem. Always punctual, always responsive to emails or calls with questions, and always on schedule to help take care of the property.

We did a major renovation removing a wood deck and brick patio, replacing it with 1300 square foot flagstone patio to include a grill station, bar, sitting wall, and water feature. In addition, we added surround sound and an outside TV. I give the overall project an A+. Our Wheats project manager (Robert, a superstar) had to manager 5 subcontractors: 1. Audio visual, 2. Oil tank remover, 3. Electrician, 4. Landscape lighting, and 5. Masonry. In addition, Wheats provided landscaping. The project was on time and within budget. Robert was at the site daily. After the fountain was installed, he thought it would look better if it was moved 2 feet, so he had the subcontractor move it at no extra cost. After the granite countertops where installed, we thought we might want to change the design, but Robert was able to to go through the pros and cons - identifying items that we didnt think around safety and comfortable. Overall, a fantastic job and I highly recommend Wheats, especially Robert as the PM. Nancy and Chip

Wheats is the best lawn and landscape service Ive ever used in 32 years at this location. Their leadership and crews are knowledgeable, skillful, professional, dependable and very courteous. The fact that they are locally based makes them accessible and communicative far beyond the nationwide firms with local affiliates.

Working with Wheats was outstanding in all respects - from initial consultation to the neatly finished job, done by a professional and courteous crew. More specifically, ours may have been a small job, still, the treatment was first class. The designer, Kevin, offered a reasonable solution to what for us was a worrisome problem - improper drainage in a downward sloping backyard that was causing considerable soil erosion. We are extremely pleased with the results - - a dry creek bed, stone steps, etc., that complement the existing landscape of our small backyard. They also installed a flowering groundcover that will be awesome once it grows and fills in around the stone steps. I highly recommend Wheats for landscape design and installation. Communications with the company, the designer and the crew were great. Everything was done in a timely manner. Our property looked neat, clean and beautiful when they were done. Wheat s did a top-notch job installing sod in my yard. Project lead Andrew was great at brainstorming with me regarding such variables as where exactly to place the new lawn, how to mulch around trees and the perimeter of my property, and how to care for the new lawn going forward. Foreman Jose and the rest of the team did a nice job removing existing vegetation and laying the new grass, and they really cleaned up everything well after each day of the project. Also, Alaric made it very easy to process the contract and payment. Everyone was professional and courteous. It s sometimes difficult to find a good contractor in this metropolitan area, but I m glad that I chose Wheat s for my sod installation.

Hired Wheat to reconstruct a multilevel shrub and flower garden in front of my house. The design included routing downspouts through the bed to appropriate discharge points. The crew arrived on time and completed the work as planned in one day. All debris was removed from the site and mulch was added as a finishing touch.

Kane Ramsey and his team have been invaluable to us. We could not be happier with the way our yard has turned out. We moved into a brand new house with little to no landscaping or hardscape. The entire Wheats team has completely transformed our yard and truly made it an extension of our home. We have used, and will continue to use, them for our year round needs (including snow removal!) Kane, our primary contact at Wheats, is always available and ready to answer questions or swing by and give advice. I would not hesitate in recommending them to anyone that is looking for a customer service oriented landscaping team.

I try not to cast dispersions on restaurants and businesses, but I am posting on here to 1. Serve as a cautionary tale and 2. Try and get the company to replace my dead tree that is under warranty. We were overcharged for services for over a year until we found a MUCH better landscape service. They will do things like unnecessarily bill you for general weeding every other time they visit your property. A respectable landscaping company will weed your property approximately 4 times per year. Wheats also quoted me $12,000 to install a paver patio that I ultimately had done by a different company for $3,000. And good luck ever trying to get a response from anyone in this terribly-run company. We overpaid for them to plant 12 trees in our backyard. Two of them died, and all of the trees were under warranty. They replaced one (7 months after I incessantly asked on a biweekly basis), and they still have not replaced the other dead tree, despite my 3 phone calls and several email attempts.

I am not one to post negative reviews about business establishments online because honestly I find it unnecessary to share negative customer experiences with anyone outside of the business itself, but based on the experience my family has had with Wheats combined with the complete lack of compassion/respect from management when concerns were voiced, I feel it s appropriate to make these concerns known so that (hopefully) others will not have to deal with the situation my husband and I have dealt with. When my husband and I moved into our new home we hired wheats for landscaping services. I am not going to re hash all the events that occurred during the series of months we worked with them because at this point it s redundant. To state it simply, it was consistently impossible to get in touch with anyone, account managers changed without notification multiple times, we were charged for services that were not rendered until we harassed them to come complete lawn services when it became overgrown and the list goes on. The issue at hand regards two defective trees that were planted in our backyard. It became clear early on that these two trees were dead. When we finally (after several weeks) got ahold of someone to come and replace ONE of the two trees, the individual who was doing the replacement made a note of a second tree that looked like it was dying as well. We decided at that time to monitor that tree to see if that was the case. When it became clear that he was right, we spoke with wheats and planned on replacing that second tree in the spring time (April specifically) when it would take better to replacement. It is now July and my husband finally was able to get in touch with someone after weeks of trying to make a connection. When he spoke with the individual who identified herself as the owner of the company, she explained that their supply and gps records indicated that the second dead tree was in fact replaced in April. Now this is where it gets absurd. I have the proof that this tree was not replaced right in my backyard because it s still dead !! When I tried to explain this to her on the phone she kept saying their truck gps location indicates that the truck was in our area in April and the tree was replaced. After trying to explain that the dead tree is still in my backyard over and over and over again, this individual became extremely condescending suggesting that it s just a third three that died and I m trying to get a third tree replaced. I asked her if she would be willing to come to my home so that she could evaluate the tree and see that if this tree had in fact been replaced and then just died again, why would it be 24inches taller than the ONE tree that was replaced ?? Why would it be the same height as the 12 other original trees ?? That would be because it was not replaced !! The second tree was never replaced. It is the same tree. Anyways, she refused to come and see the tree continuing to be condensing and unhelpful just stating over and over that her records show the second tree was replaced. In this situation the point isn t that wheats didn t replace the tree. The point is that management was unwilling to even come to my house to see the tree, evaluate its age, and then realize that it is an original tree that was never replaced. That s what has upset me so much. Upper management was unwilling to check their own work and just verify whether the replanting on the second tree was actually done. It s concerning that this management team can be so firm in their belief that work was done when they are unwilling to come at customer request to double check. I truly hope no other customer has to deal with something like this ever. It was a very sad experience for us.

I already knew when I called Wheats that they offer some of the best landscaping around, but what I didn t expect was that when they came out to do the work on my yard that they were going to treat my small job like they treat the largest job they have. The two guys that came out were hard working, professional, knowledgeable and kind and they moved my trees expertly and carefully to their new location, being very respectful of my property. It s clear that Wheats truly cares about the quality of their work, and I was super impressed with the attention to detail and the outstanding customer service from this company. I can t wait to use Wheats for more projects in the future. I wish I could give Wheats more than five stars because they truly deserve them!

I recently hired Wheats Lawn and Landscape to completely redo the landscaping at our house - front, side and back yard. I cant say enough about the great service and quality of the work. Great workmanship and customer service is hard to find, and theyve got it - for example, Kane called me last night to inform me he would stop by one night to show me how to prune a true - incredible. The website lists a lawn mowing/maintenance service, but when you call, they dont actually offer that, they only advertise it. you have to sign a larger contract to get them to agree to cut your lawn.

Travis showed up 3 minutes early! He knew what he was doing and went back to his office, did some research and explained why I didnt need an expensive treatment on my tree. How great is that!

Requested a quote from Wheats for drainage services in May of this. Received a visit from Wheats representative approximately 6 weeks later after a few calls. He said he would get back with a quote and never heard from him again. Called the company to find out why, only to get more run around and that person never followed up either. I can only assume that Wheats doesnt serve modest homes in our town. We live in a smaller home the middle of two high end properties. Funny...Wheats services both those homes on a regular basis.

Wheats exceeded all expectations for customer service, and their landscaping craftsmanship is as good as it gets. Their employees are friendly, polite and committed to producing exceptional results.

Hardly worth the cost. I am happy to pay a premium for quality and consistent service. Wheats charges a hefty premium, but in my experience, it comes up short on their end of the bargain. Save your money and your lawn and hire someone else. I canceled my contract because, as near as I can determine, they basically forgot about my lawn. I emailed my account rep recently to make sure we were set for the spring. I did that because (a) my lawn looked bad in the fall and worse through the winter, so I wanted to make sure we had a head start on the spring; and (b) I didnt recall receiving anything from wheats for a long time now-- no correspondence, no note on work performed or to be performed on the lawn, nothing about when we would start the spring seeding schedule etc. After not hearing anything I reached out again. After more radio silence, I called and was routed through a nice but wholly unhelpful customer service rep until I found myself talking to someone who said he was in charge of my account, despite the fact that we have never spoken and the fact that he was not the same account rep I had last season. It became apparent that he didnt know who I was and essentially was just assigned my account. He didnt have any idea of what my landscaping services were, whether they had already fertilized and seeded, whether I was scheduled for anything etc. He was nice, but it was a pointless call. I canceled right then. Poor management is one thing, but after a year of using Wheats, my lawn is worse than before I started using them. I need to re-sod about 30 percent of my lawn to start over. Add that to the keystone cops routine on my account, and it was an easy call to cancel. What a waste. My bad for using Wheats. They came highly recommended fwiw. I hired another landscaping company today. They are smaller, more eager to deliver services, and had their act together. Im also paying significantly less than Wheats charged me. Im giving Wheats one star, which feels a little generous, but its fair overall.

We recently started working with Wheats Landscape and they are great. Our representative came out, gave an understandable breakdown of what they would be doing and so far theyve done exactly that. They are reliable, honest and quick. Definitely recommend!

I can honestly say that my entire property has never looked healthier or more beautiful and that is because of the hard work of the entire Wheat s team. The Maryland account manager designed a combined drainage swell and walkway to check erosion and loss of grass on our property. The design worked beautifully with our existing landscaping and was aesthetically very pleasing. The Wheats work crew is always a delight to work with. Their pricing was excellent.
