Western Landscape LLC in Verona

Update: The herbicide plan has not been nearly as effective as they claim. Even today, I keep running into quality issues, including regrowth of the previous plants they were hired to remove (not just weeds). They SAY they came to inspect after each herbicide treatment, but...did they? They never told us when they were coming/came, they didnt review anything with us, and they (impressively) dodged our motion-sensing cameras each time (if you walk from one bed to the other without leaving our property, youd trigger at least one). If inspected shortly after treatment, the beds were picked clean each time, so of course it appeared effective. What they didnt see is what came back a couple weeks later that I dug out myself (even today, theres enough growing back to make me think its going to come back strong in the spring). I think the outcome is unacceptable for the price, and am open to compromise -- but theyve made it clear that theyre done with us on this project. ** Our experience seems out of character for this crew. We liked their story and wanted to support them, but regret it. I recognize that I was a pain throughout the process, but given the outcome, I think that was justified. Short: we had a very negative experience. They botched the quote. We noticed quality issues and alerted them quickly. They initially agreed there was a quality issue and committed to certain actions to address it, but never delivered on those commitments. Needless to say, our next project(s) will not be with Western. Longer: Last year, we paid them $25k to gut and start fresh on two large landscape beds, but feel like we did not get close to what we paid for. The main issue is regrowth of plants that we thought we paid to remove/eliminate we saw near-immediate regrowth of weeds, grass, ground cover plants, and others, later some woody plants too. Ive spent A LOT of time removing things that we expected to be part of the $25k price tag. They got the job done very quickly, and at first it looked great. But on day 2, we noticed some concerning regrowth, and alerted them after some back/forth with photos and in-person inspections, they agreed, in writing, that the job was not done sufficiently and theyd make it right. They first tried the cheaper route (hand pulling and herbicide), but it was ineffective, so they agreed to redo parts of the job (in writing, 4 separate times). They they did not deliver, and even called it a huge fail on their part when a crew came and didnt do it. After I made the final payment, they changed their tune and said they were no longer willing to redo any of it. Instead, they told us we needed to buy an herbicide plan that theyd later refund if not effective - to their credit, after some debate, they agreed to comp the herbicide again for 2024. Even with that, there was another misstep - we requested to be there in person to discuss the initial plan and to be notified of when/what they sprayed so we could track effectiveness. They agreed, but failed to deliver on those things. It is better now, but the process was painful, and Ive dug out a lot of stuff that I expected to be removed as part of the project. Price/quote issues also contribute to the lower rating. It started as we ll get the quote to you next week, and will get you on the schedule around Memorial Day despite multiple e-mails and phone calls, that quote didn t come until a week into June, apparently because they lost our info (6 week delay in our project). And, it was not what we expected - it was three separate quotes like we asked, but it only included two of the three beds we requested (one excluded, another split into two separate quotes). It was just a lot of words with a big price tag. They gave the same thing for a later storm repair quote, despite requesting itemized (in contrast, without requesting details, another place gave me the same quote completely itemized and with drawings). Plus we asked about a tree removal, and they quoted the wrong tree.

i started working here a few months ago and my coworkers are amazing office is amazing and super easy to work with ive had no complaints and this has by far been my most favorite job ive ever had . Jobs with people you love to work with will always make for better morale and a more positive work attitude . Would highly recommend this company looking from the inside out as its seems as if people come to work to serve there clients to the best of their ability. Not to mention the energy that comes from the three brothers running the company is motivating and not to go unnoticed. Altho gabe is the coolest . so to summarize I may work here but i can honestly say this is the best landscape company in dane county and would highly recommend looking their way .

The Western crew removed our old front lawn and replaced it with sod on November 8, 2023. They were efficient, timely, and cordial and accommodated a pressing schedule. The cleanup also was thorough. The lawn looks great so far. On October 23, 2024, the Western crew returned to repair a portion of our backyard damaged by the removal of a very old red oak tree. Similarly to last year, the three young men who performed the work were efficient, timely, and cordial. And again, I hope I dont undo the good work they did next summer.

Western Landscape came to the rescue when my aunt s home needed an emergency lawn cut after an illness prevented a family member from tending to the lawn care. The crew from Western Landscape just finished a major landscaping project at my house. I am so incredibly grateful to everyone at western landscape for updating my home and making it sparkle. It is beautiful!! I had two retaining walls taken out and rebuilt and several areas where old shrubs were removed and refreshed with new plantings and rock. It was a huge project! Evan was the designer, thanks to his insights the project turned out better than I could have imagined. The hands-on crew was led by Austin and his main crew of Aaron and Carly. There were multiple other staff members that came to help as their schedules would allow. I cannot complement this crew enough, they were the best! Every single day they came to work, I was greeted with a smile, a warm greeting and expectations of what they planned to accomplish. They were very prepared each day with materials and equipment needed. They often included me in their decision making process. They worked so incredibly hard each day. Most importantly they genuinely seemed dedicated and vested to my project. They also worked so well together. They were so excited to watch the project unfold. Most days were hot, humid and very labor intensive, but they powered through without a complaint. Austin was so responsible and driven. He went above and beyond to make sure everything came together. Aaron was so dedicated and hard working, always making sure everything he did was perfect. Carly worked so hard on the project but what I appreciated most was her ability to look ahead and see how the end result would affect the landscape as a whole. I could not be happier with the results of my project. A big thanks to Evan for seeing my vision and bringing it together. I also would be remiss if I did not mention how personable and communicative the whole staff at Western Landscape has been. I hired Western Landscaping to do work at my home. From the initial consultation with Wes to the final project completion I could not be more pleased. They invited me to their state of the art new facility in Verona where I was given a virtual presentation of the scope of work and could ask questions or make changes. The estimate came in as I anticipated. Brice and Michael were the team who completed the work and made sure my questions and concerns were addressed before beginning. They cleaned up thoroughly afterward and walked the property with me to be sure I was happy with the job. I highly recommend this company!

Just had a job completed by Western... pretty simple stuff overall. On the positive, I am happy with the work completed. The crew itself did a great job. I also am happy with the pricing, very reasonable. My biggest reasoning for the low score is the overall lack of communication, organization and overall project management. In my experience with them there were 4 separate times I was told I would receive a call back when coordinating the job and did not get it. I had to reinitiate myself. We had a change order in the process to go from stone to mulch earlier in the week before the install. The crew showed up with stone as the change order wasnt communicated properly on their end and delayed the start 1.5 hours. And with the final payment, I received the invoice with the previous amount... when I replied to that with the change order they sent and the updated amount, their revised invoice they sent after STILL showed the previous amount. Not sure how I could have spelled it out more clear. Given my experience if you go with Western, youll get a good job done at a good price. However youll be frustrated throughout the whole process with their lack of communication and organization. The unfortunate thing is, I dont think it would take much to improve in these areas... just seems like oversights are constantly happening. UPDATE 5/25 - Western did reach out after the job was complete and the above review. I do appreciate the ownership they have taken regarding the issues. Again, I was happy with the work but just seemed in my situation there were issues that stacked up in unfortunate circumstances. Id still consider them in the future, just would want to understand those improvements have been implemented prior.

We recently had a concrete driveway installed, and unfortunately, the contractor tore up a huge part of our lawn in the process. It was such a mess that we needed to call a landscaper. We were referred to Western and called them for a quote. They came out on our schedule and gave us a timely quote. We decided to go with them for removing a patio, installing a patio and planting a few trees. Lucas and Austin showed up and were kind, friendly, professional and hard working. We added in some work after we had agreed to our project and they did it with all smiles. We had such a great experience with everybody from front office, estimate, to getting the work done that we are looking at having them come back for more. When a company does a wonderful job the first time around, thats good, and worth 4 stars because it is what I expect. When a company recognizes that there is a problem and fixes it outside of work hours, thats excellent, and worth 5 stars because its the kind of service that folks rarely receive. Gabriel saw the problem, fixed it late on a Friday, and the job is now perfect.

Did a great job delivering on the job we requested! Ran into some issues with the software for the lighting installed and Gabe came out on two occasions to troubleshoot the fluke and make sure we fully understood the software. I also appreciated all of the advice given from the team to help maintain my yard as a first-time homeowner instead of pushing their services for completing the same tasks.

We use Western for Snow Removal and we are not disappointed! We have a very difficult property as far as snow removal goes and this team does it all! Highly recommend them!

After struggling with two other landscaping companies, I am so glad I called Western. Dave has executed on our projects to perfection! Last year, I had an idea for my backyard that included a pea gravel patio with a bluestone fire pit area. He listened to my ideas (and didnt act like I was crazy), asked all the right questions, provided great suggestions, and I couldnt be happier with the end result! This spring Dave was back to plant a tree and add some fill to the sides of our driveway. It was completed in one day and I appreciate how tidy everything was left afterwards. It is clear he holds himself and his crew to a high standard. Overall, we have found every step of the process with Western to be top-notch. They are good people who make a great team. Here are a few highlights: - Upfront pricing: a quote is provided through an easy to use online portal that makes it really clear what services will be done and the approximate cost. I cant speak to how the cost compares with others because we were never able to get our other option (one of the big local companies) to tell us how much the work would be, but the pricing seems fair. - Flexible: our budget didnt allow for all of our work to be done at once. They were so understanding and a great resource in helping us figure out how to get our yard where we want it to be. - Professional: they arrive when they say they will and communicate any delay.

We reached out to Western Landscaping in early January for a quote to regrade our sloped yard by installing some retaining walls. They were able to quickly provide a quote within our stated budget, and completed the project over the course of 4 days in mid-May. Both Katherine and Sam were communicative about the timeline of the project, including when it was delayed a day due to unavoidable rescheduling. Dave was extremely professional by checking in with us throughout each day to ensure the progress was what we had envisioned, making slight alterations to the original plan to accommodate unforeseen obstacles, and handling neighbor interactions.

Western Landscape did a tremendous job restoring our backyard including planning needed services and the actual work itself including yard prep, seeding and sod installation. Their services were timely, the staff always helpful, and very careful and friendly when on the job---always a pleasure to deal with. Had a tree that needed to be trimmed and Jeff and Tyler were very professional, asked to double check how I wanted to the tree trimmed and did the job just as requested.

Have had them out multiple times to create new landscapes, correct or repair old ones, fix problem areas in the yard.... We even had them install a pad for a hot tub on our slanty yard, and two years later its perfectly level! Always super friendly and does top notch work!

Great communication from first phone call till the departure of the last truck! (We already miss them!). Everyone we came in contact with, especially Dave and Andrew, were very friendly and easy to talk to...good listeners and willing to offer excellent suggestions. The Western Landscape Team has partnered with Madison College again this year to build an offroad race course for a week long summer camp that the campers will get to run rc trucks on the course. They went bigger and better this year and Im sure the campers will be in awww when they see it! Western Landscape did an amazing job designing and completing a significant hardscape project for our Fitchburg home. I have work I need to do now to ensure that the plants that were cut off and not removed don t come back and remove rocks to make the bed they extended is a cohesive bed instead of a line of rocks down the middle.

The guys who came to do the work were fast, thorough, and super helpful making a last minute adjustment with the placement of some stones. We contacted Western Landscape to discuss a project to replace a small concrete patio and expand our usable space by moving a portion of our existing retaining wall further back from the house. Evan Severt came out to do a walkthrough of our property and to listen to the types of things we were looking to do. Evan shared some of his thoughts and we could tell right away he understood what we wanted. After our initial meeting, Evan put together a quote that was broken down into individual options for us to choose from. Evan was always available to answer questions and worked with us to put together a plan that met our needs. Evan mentioned that he had someone in mind that he thought would be a great fit for our project. Evan worked with the schedulers to have David Neyens assigned as the lead foreman for our project. We are so grateful for Evan s recommendation as David was the perfect fit for us and our project. David is such a hard worker and we could tell how much he cared about the quality of his work. David would ask us to review key pieces of the project to make sure we approved. David worked through so many different weather conditions and even put in some later evenings in order to make sure certain parts of the project were completed before leaving for the day. When the final day came and David showed us the final touches, it really turned out better than what we could have imagined. Thank you, David, for working so hard to create such a beautiful space that really feels like an extension to our home. We had such a great experience with Western Landscape and especially working closely with Evan and David. My experiences with Western Landscape have been very positive. They respond to my emails, and send me emails alerting me to their intended arrival date. This fall, we really needed a fall clean-up of our yard. The team arrived before 8 a.m. prepared to get the leaves blown into a big pile, cut off the perennials, like hosta which wilted after the frost arrived, and mowed the long, damp grass. Absolutely amazing work done by the two Daves, on our recent landscaping project. They were so easy to work with and when we had some minor tweaks to the project (Can you move those rocks to a different place?) they did it with good cheer. Very good about recognizing how the project should proceed in order to ensure correct water drainage. Will definitely call them for any further work.

Vinyl plank flooring installation. We wanted floating wood flooring replaced in our foyer and dining room. In the foyer below the floating floor were 2 layers of tile. Previous requests from other companies for replacement options were met with statements that it could not be done without messy removal of the tile. Western said they could remove the floating wood flooring and install a flooring of our choice without a problem. My wife wanted to install a vinyl plank option which Grant Severt of Western helped her select from a local wholesaler, Prosource. The subsequent removal went smoothly. When the installation began, the chosen option proved to be too dark. Without any hassle, Western removed that flooring and after selection of a lighter option, installed the new choice as soon as the new flooring was available, within 1 week. The finished work looks great. Working with Western for this project was easy and well done. Would recommend consideration of Western for any flooring projects.

I used Western Landscaping for doing some top dressing on my lawn. The guys did a good job and cleaned up very well afterward. We successfully resolved some billing issues which was appreciated.

Company does not have any foresight. They signed a contract with me to mow my lawn then found their mowers couldnt fit through my gate. This is all well and good, but they had already been out to the property multiple times and could have informed me of this much sooner. To make matters worse they took it upon themselves to only mow the front of my yard (and charged me for it) without my consent and left me with a half-done eyesore. Edited to add: After they saw my negative review the company did eventually refund the mow they initially charged me for. This would not have happened without the review however. I did have a chance to chat with the company, and I hope they learned a lot from our exchange.

Our landscape plans started with a productive meeting with Grant. He listened to my ideas and offered suggestions. We agreed and later met with the two employees who completed the project. Mario and Austin went above and beyond to keep the workspace clean throughout the endeavor. I was impressed with the skill Austin used to cut (saw) the bricks to make a circular bend in the project. We were more than happy with the results and would definitely recommend Western Lanscape for any project you may have.

After years of neglecting our yard, we gave them a call to get a quote. Sam showed up that same day and gave us a reasonable quote. We took all of Sams advice regarding what to plant and where. Now the yard looks like new. We love it. Austin and Mario patiently answered all of our questions while they were working. They worked very hard each day and they cleaned up thoroughly before leaving each day. Amanda in the office always promptly answers questions and returns phone calls. Im a very picky person. They exceeded all of my expectations. We have used two other local landscaping business in the past; Western is so much better. Western embodies what it means to be a good, small, local business.

I have been here 5 yr now and this is the first time that I have become associated with one of a employees Her name is Andrea she has been very gracious and helpful I have a little garden and flowers outside the house she takes very good care not to cut my flowers or if I ask her would she do a little closer trimming she does with no problem and is always very sweet and friendly my dog even loves her she a very good employee. After a very frustrating time finding a landscaper to take care of the erosion in the area of my culvert Western Landscape came through. Both guys who came to my home worked very hard and did a great job. I would hire them again for my landscape needs.

We used Western Landscape for refreshing all of our mulch beds and weeding our entire yard. They sent three workers and it took two days to complete. We are very satisfied with their work. Great customer service and communication, which is so important when choosing a landscaping company. Very professional with a great website for easy payment. We had Western Landscape come replace our mulch with stone and replace some overgrown plants. The entire experience was great, from the planning with their phone team, to having an estimate and 2D picture completed and to being flexible and altering plans on the fly, everyone at Western Landscape were a fantastic group to work with. Our landscape team, TJ and Tyler were incredibly considerate, efficient and did an excellent job. We are incredible pleased with how everything turned out.

We started using Western Landscape a couple of years ago. I have been very impressed with how responsive they are. They will come even in the middle of the night to make sure that we are serviced. They also will check with me by text if the snowfall is short of the minimum limit to determine if I want them to clear the lower than minimum snowfall. Very customer oriented.

He listened and we gave him full reign in choosing the types, we picked our rock out. He truly delivered. We recently hired Western Landscape to remove and replace many bushes in our yard, install pavers around our deck and plant a maple tree in our front yard. There were 4 young men working in our yard for 2 1/2 days. They kept us appraised of what they were doing and got our input for placement. They were polite and professional at all times and we are very pleased with the work that was done. They cleaned up after themselves each day. A couple days after they left we had some questions and Jake came back to our house to make sure everything was as we wanted it. We couldnt be happier with Western Landscape and would use them again.

We had Western come in and create a paver patio extension with firepit to our existing cement pad in our backyard. It is beautiful!!! All the guys working on the project were wonderful too; very professional, courteous and hard working. I cant recommend Western enough! Our neighborhood cranes love our new patio too :)

Dan and his crew did an amazing job working on our backyard. They installed a new retaining wall and an extensive paver walkway from the backyard around the side yard to the front yard. It looks wonderful and they were always working hard and very professional and courteous to us. We were always kept up to date on their time table and whether there would be a delay or not. We highly recommend them for any any work you may need for your property.

Aerating and overseeding lawn service done by technician Dell who was impressively hardworking, efficient and professional. He sought to make time to do this job short notice per my request and did not disappoint. Dell and the office staff was courteous and promptly responsive in explaining procedure, expectations and outcome. The business and work ethic exceeded expectations and cares about their customers, as well as employees. I am fussy about lawn service and highly recommend.

Recently had a cement patio poured in my backyard. Contractor tore my yard up front to back because it rained the night prior, plus the patio needed to be back filled. Western, back filled, leveled, seeded, straw mat plus used a fertilizer booster. They did awesome work and very professional! I will recommend to others. Thank you so much for the work it came out just as requested, which, dont often happen. Everything, from customer service, Elijah camming the site, to the work begin done promptly as scheduled was awesome. Thank you again!

Western Landscape has been attending to lawns in the neighborhood for a few years now. The use their stand behind mowers so fast, it is surprising that any grass is cut. There are undulations in the lawn that are not acceptable as a consumer that is paying for this service. They do use gas powered trimmers after mowing, but leave spots untrimmed. Finally, they have their chute on the lawnmowers held up so the grass flies all over the street, driveways, sidewalks, unfortunately neighbors years. They use a leaf blower afterward, but the final product is not high quality and grass clippings remain in the street and in neighbors yards. I would not recommend them.

This was my first time working with Western Landscape and they were awesome! Learned about them from a flyer I received in the mail so I decided to give them a call. From the first point of contact until the job was complete, they were very responsive. Great communication all along the way. They made sure they understood exactly what I wanted and they totally delivered. It looks beautiful. Highly recommend.

Elijah had a great vision for our yard, his team completed the work early and on budget, and we ve already received many compliments on it. I appreciated how he worked with us to keep many of our existing plants, helped us find great options that were both beautiful and low upkeep, and added in more color and creativity. We d recommend them to anyone looking to spice up or clean up their landscaping.

Ive known this organization since its humble beginnings. Lot to admire about these young guys and the way they conduct their business. Used them for lawn and snow maintenance but had them do a fairly sizeable landscaping job this fall. Very professional, hard working and seemed to really enjoy their craft. Highly recommend them for maintenance but also landscaping projects.

From the beginning to the end of my landscape project, this company did a fantastic job. Elijah responded right away in the Spring when I called. I had started my own DIY project 4 years ago, but got overwhelmed with all the hard work it would take to fix up the lawn I had killed and needed to remove. It was a haven for weeds and an eyesore. I needed new weed barrier and additional rocks placed around my flower beds. There was an old play fort that was falling apart and it needed to be removed. Western Landscape did it all, neatly and cleanly, with no trace they had ever been there. It only took them 3 days to do my whole project. I am really impressed with this company and can highly recommend their services to anyone. I would gladly give them 10 stars!
