Disrespectful behaviour to the community. Found a Hyland worker peeing in our back entrance this evening while his colleague looked on. Guy was wearing Hyland cap and checked the website, they work there. When called out for this behaviour they cursed and got aggressive. Said if a dog can pee on the street why can t he. There is a public bathroom one block away, he wasn t interested. Just gross. I wouldn t trust them in my alley let alone my home.

Hyland Landscapes has been taking care of my lawn and garden maintenance weekly, and the difference is remarkable. Josh and Brian are attentive to every detail and adjust their services to fit the changing needs of my garden throughout the seasons. Its such a relief to have a beautifully maintained yard without any of the hassle.

I have just used this company s services for the second time and have been very impressed in each instance. Our maintenance person, Mike, was knowledgeable, hardworking and easy to communicate with. He answered all of my questions and was able to give useful advice. He was also proactive in finding additional work that needed doing. The company s office staff were friendly and professional when I contacted them. I would definitely recommend this company and will be using them again in the future.

I am president of the Dunbar Lawn Bowling Club. We contracted with Hyland Landscapes to install new plinth boards around our green and level the sod about 4 around the whole perimeter. I believe this was a new type of job for Hyland. We have been very impressed with Hyland from the beginning going back to my first request for a quote that I needed for a grant application, which Nick Sharma provided very quickly. The people we delt with at Hyland are both highly professional and competent, while also being friendly and amenable to answering questions quickly. At one point in the project we had some concerns about aspects of the work, which did entail some changes. Nick immediately came onto the scene, spoke with us and those working on the project to find the way to best fix the problem. Improvements were made quickly and effectively so that in the end we had a better outcome than even originally planned. We highly recommend Hyland Landscapes for their professionalism and expertise along with their excellent working relationship.

I owe my backyard to them. I have a family of 5 and a functional backyard means a lot to us. I was installing artificial turf and they saved me from a horrible experience. I had originally hired a terrible contractor for the job but after he tried to scam me out of thousands I parted ways and asked Hyland (who was working on my neighbors beautiful yard at the time) to help me finish the work. It was a smallish job for them but they helped me out and took over. I immediately knew I was in good hands. The workers were friendly, on time and very professional. The work was done quickly and with care. They addressed all my concerns and quickly corrected anything that wasnt done perfectly. I can assure you, you will be in good hands with Mike and Nick. I know whenever I start my next big project Im going to reach out to Hyland first.

Hyland recently completed a full design and install for our new build with a rather challenging backyard. They took into consideration how we would use our space and made suggestions as the process went on. Their team was on time and always respectful of the area by ensuring it was cleaned up every evening. They partnered with Shan Bodie for the plant selection to install beautiful, low-maintenance, native plants. Every concern or question I had was taken seriously and addressed quickly. In particular, Nick Sharmas knowledge of drainage requirements and his respectful approach and collaboration with our builder saved us from what would likely have been huge issues in the future. Our backyard has been completely transformed into a functional, peaceful and absolutely STUNNING space for our family to enjoy.

We could not have been happier with our choice to engage with Hyland on the project to create a year-round outdoor living space in Kitsilano. We moved to Van last summer and wanted to create an outdoor space that would be comfortable to use for 4 seasons. Before engaging with Hyland we had a comprehensive discussion with Mike about the vision and expectations for the project in an effort to determine if we all were a good fit. The main structural component was a covered pergola where we could have a weather-protected living space. Our initial idea was to have a retractable roof, however Mike pointed out how dark it would be when closed and suggested instead a glass- covered pergola. It was a brilliant suggestion and only the start of our collaboration. The design process included working with a certified landscape designer for further input and conceptualization. The project scope was extensive and included basalt natural stone pavers, landscape lighting, decorative privacy screening, a built-in bbq and gardens. Once the design was finalized we began working with Jason on developing the project timeline and executables. The project was to start in December and finish in March, which it did. As you can imagine, the weather was a challenge at times, however only one day was missed due to torrential rain. Otherwise the crew worked tirelessly through all conditions. They were always on time and always put in a full day. A project can look perfect during the conceptualization and design stage, then fall apart during execution without the right implementation team. Hyland nailed it with the team they have built. Jake was the lead on our project and we could not have been more fortunate to have someone who truly cared about the outcome in all regards. Jake and his counterpart Miguel were fabulous in discussing and recommending design changes as the project progressed. Their experience and personal touch were welcome additions to the project. Hyland s attention to detail and consistent communication left nothing to chance. Our project was completed on time and on budget and to the quality standard promised. We ve also hired Hyland to do our annual maintenance. Hyland deserves your consideration as they do outstanding work and care.

Hyland was amazing! They built a side patio to match the main patio and refurbished a large area of fencing and replaced multiple posts. They recycled as much material as possible to keep costs down and help the environment. The onsite lead Miguel ensured everything was exactly as I wanted it and was a pleasure to work with. Blake was a standout on the job as well. Everyone worked together very well from the estimator, planner, foreman and on-site workers. I would highly recommend them.

We were very happy with Nick, Chris and the guys that worked hard on our yard. We had old drain tiles replaced a few months earlier and we had a big mess. They added new soil, river rocks, plants, adjusted and added new pavers, including a new drain. They also came back to add an aluminum boarder, soil and grass seed that really completed the job. Start to finish this was an excellent experience-from landscape design to project completion. Very pleased with transformation of my undone front yard to something where I can grow veg and have some beautiful plants as well.

We just completed renovations to our entire backyard with Hyland and we are very happy with the process and outcome. Our project included: - Excavation of our entire backyard - A large wooden pergola with glass cover - New custom fence - Paving - Rubber eco-paving (sports court) area - New grass - Rock garden area - New staircase with landing We really liked the design phase as we were able to create our vision directly with the designer (sitting in our backyard) as opposed to someone just preparing a few options to choose from. Hyland was very professional in their approach, reliable, and did an excellent quality job. Communication with them was great as well as we saw them every morning for a quick check in and were able to message the foreman for any questions that came up along the way. We decided to make some additions along the way which ended up costing more than we expected due to labor costs that we forgot to consider. However, Hyland was very accommodating to resolve these issues to both our satisfaction. Overall, we would definitely recommend Hyland and use them again for any future projects.

Our front door access needed a fair bit of work. Hyland Landscape s company of professionals did a wonderful job of improving the appearance and functionality of our front yard by enhancing drainage, installing patio pavers and rebuilding the stairs to our front door. Although the weather plays a role in the pace of construction, the work was done in an acceptable time frame and within the budgeted agreement. The team were respectful and mindful of our needs and I wouldn t hesitate to use this company again. Friends and neighbours agree, that Hyland s workers greatly improved the curb appeal of our home. Hyland Landscaping redid our backyard stone paving after the ground had settled and became quite uneven to walk on. The team was super professional from day one. Always showed up on time for the job each day the project was being worked on, the team was clear in the communication on the work and very respective of our home cleaning up the property beautifully at the end of each day. They did an amazing job and we love our backyard again. Highly recommend this wonderful team!

My front yard was fully excavated during a home reno and was literally a patch of dirt. My back yard has not been updated in decades (no word of a lie). I knew I had to stage the project for financial reasons and wanted a cohesive plan so that the final outcome did not reflect the time between installation. I also wanted a cost effective and low maintenance solution with outdoor living spaces for both my tenants and myself. I spent one summer trying to get companies to draw up a design and provide a quote on the work and was either told my budget was too small or the company didnt have the manpower to carry out my ask. Then I found Hyland. My first meeting was with Mary, a designer at Hyland. She was knowledgeable and clearly wanted to understand my financial and aesthetic goals for the whole project. Even when my questions could have been construed as ridiculous, she took them back to the Hyland team and got an answer. Throughout the review process she continued to demonstrate dedication to achieving the look and cost I was after. The final review of the design was conducted with Mike, an Estimator and the designer. The meeting was collaborative with both Mike, Mary and myself discussing options for achieving the project goals. In that process, I felt that my admittedly lacking understanding of landscaping was fully considered, not simply dismissed. Even in follow ups, Mike offered to provide additional estimates in order to help me make my decision to proceed while not leaving me feeling pressured. At the installation phase, Joe and the whole installation crew were dedicated to delivering the design within budget and in a very timely manner. In cases where things came up that were not in the design or execution plan (for example a big granite boulder found during excavation) I was provided with alternatives, costs and my own input was was considered in the decision making process. The installation was done in half the estimated time and with less than a 1% Up from the estimate. My neighbours have commented on how great the yard looks, how friendly the install crew was and how quickly the work was completed. Thanks Mary, Mike, Joe, Jason and everyone else that worked on my project! I have and will continue to recommend Hyland Landscapes and look forward to Phase 2 of my project.

From Mike and Mary, who helped craft the vision and design, to Jason and the friendly, hardworking crew who finished the job on time and on budget, to Joe who responded to any concerns in a timely and respectful manner (and even gave me an impromptu and extremely valuable lesson on how to prune my new plants!), everyone involved was a pleasure to work with. I was seeking a competent landscaper for extensive changes required at my home. Joe Hyland was highly referred by the owner of a local property management company. Joe inspected, professionally assessed the situation, and laid out an accurate and precise scope of work schedule. Having familiarity with suitable plant material options, he provided expert advice. Hyland s crew arrived early each morning, were very pleasant to work with, and left a clean job site each afternoon. Joe texted beautiful plant selection images from various local nurseries to help customize the experience. In summary, our front and back yard were totally and beautifully transformed within a week, as promised. It was a very positive experience working with Hyland Landscapes, and we will continue working together as they oversee our general maintenance.
