This company was great from the moment I contacted them for an estimate to the completion of the job. They promptly responded to my emails and calls. Their rates are reasonable and beat out other competitors. I hired them for the removal of a 20 saguaro cactus that was starting to rot. Devin, Antone, and Dominic arrived on time, as promised. They were courteous and extremely knowledgeable. Tarps were placed on the ground to minimize the mess and they quickly & efficiently took down the saguaro without any damage to surrounding fruit trees and plants in the backyard. I was impressed how they worked together and the precision with which they cut down the saguaro. They hosed down the area and left it clean and free from debris. I highly recommend Action Yard & Tree Services. Great customer service and incredible job! Thanks Devin, Antone & Dominic! I contacted Action Yard & Tree once again to cut down and remove another 20 saguaro in addition to the removal of several other dead cacti at my mom s home. This time two workers showed up, Cody and Bilal. The job seemed like an impossible task for just two workers but upon calling the office, I was assured that Cody and Bilal were more than capable of handling the job and both were very knowledgeable. These guys proved themselves without a doubt. They were courteous, professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and extremely hard workers (just like the first crew). They worked a solid 5 hours in brutal heat, cutting down and removing the cacti. Afterwards, they cleaned my mom s backyard, scrubbing the backyard pavers, hosing everything down and even cleaning the front sidewalk where they were loading all the cacti. I wish every company had workers this great! Additionally, the owner and girls answering the phones (Belinda and Shayna- sorry if I messed up the names) are wonderful. Each one was so helpful and accommodating in getting the estimates, providing a senior discount for my 86 year old mom, setting up appointments, and answering all questions. I definitely recommend this company and would hire them again!

Albeit cliché, I must preface the following testimony by stating that I seldom if ever post reviews online, regardless of my level of dis-/satisfaction of the product or service. In this instance, however, I felt compelled to do so because Joe Mills and his team at Action Yard and Tree Service (AYTS) surpassed my expectations. Despite temperatures exceeding 100°F at times, the team onsite, which included Moses, David, Mike, B, and Devon, over two days, labored tirelessly and professionally. In the backyard of our house, we had three fully grown palm trees that, because of their location and the failure of the original builder/owner to include proper drainage, had compromised the integrity of a critical retaining wall, causing one to begin leaning precipitously towards our home. After discovering his business online through a Google search, my wife contacted Joe Mills for a consultation. Joe arrived, listen to our concerns, and eventually confirmed what we had suspected, that the trees would need to be removed lest another microburst realize our worst fears. Before leaving, Joe provided us with an estimate, which we accepted as more than reasonable, and scheduled the dates and times for the project s commencement and completion. The team arrived onsite on the predetermined dates and times, and throughout the process, kept us abreast of their progress. Aside from the sounds emanating from the chainsaws, my wife and I, who both work from home, were never disturbed nor felt inconvenienced. On the one night that partitioned the project, they made a point of, to the best of their ability considering the nature of their work, tidying up our yard so that our two dogs could resume their backyard activities. As a matter of course, I do not post reviews online because I believe that (1) my personal experience is largely subjective and (2) is likely predicated on certain variables unique to me as a consumer of a specific product and/or service or as a customer of a particular business. Evidence of corrupt or fraudulent practices notwithstanding, continued patronage and, if directly asked by someone with whom I am familiar, an endorsement of services rendered, are the lengths to which I would normally go in the affairs of any business from which I have purchased a good or service. I say all that not to diminish nor invalidate the suboptimal experiences of other AYTS patrons, it is merely to underscore my affirmation of the work performed by Joe and his onsite team (Moses, David, Mike, B, and Devon) from Action Yard and Tree Service. We had Action Yard and Tree Service remove a very large saguaro in our back yard, they did a wonderful job! The workers Devin, Antonio, Balil and John were great and very polite. They did a fantastic job cleaning everything up. Great price, we sure would use their services again!

So, I went out yesterday morning to check my backyard and noticed the ground was wet around several potted plants. Checking further, I saw that the drip irrigation was still on...several hours after it SHOULD have turned off. I tried turning off at the control box, but still it continued running. I couldnt see a way to stop the flow from the main valves. After getting a couple voice mails at different companies, I finally was able to speak to a very nice lady at Action Yard and Tree. I explained my problem and after putting me on a short hold, she came back and said they could have someone out in an hour or two. WOW! Sure enough, about an hour and a half later, Devin arrived and I showed him the problem. He knew exactly what the issue was. He had to dig up the old valve system and replace it with all new piping and valves. A LOT of work! He was great to work with, explaining what he was doing and recommending tips to take care of the new system he installed. I couldnt be happier with the service I received, from the initial phone call to Devin helping me out. Thanks, Devin and Action Yard and Tree. I know who to call next time I need anything yard related.

Seemed to be some misunderstanding about what we thought the quote included. Ended up getting some rip rap laid on the ground for what was supposed to be make river bed. Was anticipating some trenching with rip rap to divert water flow away from a retaining wall that was failing due to water. Felt like Joe weaseled out on me. Wouldnt use them again.

We had a fairly big residential job and Joe sent a crew of 4. The guys immediately started working on different areas of the yard and finished in about 4 hours. They pulled the weeds, trimmed the bushes and trees and cacti and raked and blew away the debris that had been there for some time. Finally they applied a weed spray and put me on quarterly maintenance. The back office with Angelita is very responsive and easy to work with as well. The crew was very knowledgeable and the job turned out better than we hoped. Thank you

We are really happy with this company. They demolished a large, ugly pond that took up a third of our backyard. And they did it all in one day! The owner was really knowledgeable and his people worked really hard. His pricing was straight forward and we ll definitely use them for future projects.

Action Yard and Tree did an incredible job in our backyard. In a day they demolished a pond and fountain that was poorly built by the previous owner, and set up a playground area for our kids with wood chips and all. The price was fair, and the guys arrived on time and finished their work in a timely manner. We are so lucky we found them online. We will definitely use them again.

Devin, Belinda and Moses did a great job of removing a very large, active tree stump from my yard. They had the stump ground below the surface, rocks raked back better than before, and the area cleaned up and looking better than before in about an hour. Professional, courteous, quick and clean. I used their services a few times in the past. It was excellent, prompt, and had reasonable pricing. But not anymore! It seems like there is a lack of organization and communication among them! Or who knows? Maybe a lack of willingness to serve some clients! They can t find a schedule for me because they are too busy! Or perhaps short-staffed! Update: The first appointment this time was scheduled on 06/05; the owner/operator called to cancel and reschedule it today, 06/12, and was about to give me another schedule on 06/26 again. I have proof of it from their calls. They are claiming below that they are not short staffed and had no issue serving me. Never calling back and dont wish to be contacted by this business again. I got a quote to lay 900 sqft of sod with irrigation. His quote was more than $10,000 over my highest bid yet! Ridiculous! Apparently hese guys dont want business!

My yard has never looked so good! Only negative was that the team leader left with some of the needed supplies in his truck. The other guys were done and waiting on him. Looking forward to having them back.

They did a great job on de-weeding/spraying the front and sides of my house along with pruning a tree and the removal of another tree. Their availability was convenient, too, they came out just a few days after they gave me an estimate that was $300 less than another business. Ill be using them again.

Contacted for a quote based on positive reviews, but our experience has been terrible. After one employee came out and gave us a quote, he said the office would contact us to schedule the service. We waited 2-3 days, and when no one called or contacted us, we should have moved on. Instead, I called them again and scheduled the service. The workers didnt show up. When I called, I was told their stump grinder had broken down and they were waiting on parts and would reschedule. The next day, two workers showed up (unexpectedly) and said they could do half the job - cutting and hauling off the oleanders, but they would come back to finish when the stump grinder was repaired. We (foolishly) paid them the full amount. Over a week later, we still had heard nothing about finishing the job. So we called again, and were told they needed to rent a stump grinder and were backed up, but would get to us in three days. The scheduled service day came and went and SURPRISE, another no-call, no-show. We called again the next day and went straight to voicemail. I *hate* leaving bad reviews, but when a business has your money and isnt returning your calls, youre kind of out of options. At this point, itd be faster to rent a stump grinder ourselves.

Fixed a leak in my irrigation system. Fast response and appointment turn around. Professional and excellent service. Well use again in the future!

Awful. I inquire about services and get zero reply then they asked for a review...well you asked for it.

They are only getting one star because I cant leave zero. They were supposed to remove several oleanders for us. They came out and cut them down and left about 4 stumps sticking up. They said their stump grinder was down so they would have to come back. They took payment for the whole job. I then had to chase them down for four weeks to get them back out here to take care of the stumps. Now on two separate occasions since then I have been out in my yard with a pickaxe because I have oleanders coming up. They ground them just enough to cover them with dirt and left the rest in to continue growing. I highly recommend that you choose a different company to do business with.

I had a blue Paloverde tree removed. It took about 4 hours, including grinding the stump. The price was very reasonable. Id call them again if I ever need more work done.

I had a mess that I thought would take several trailers to haul away . Action showed up with a chipper n trailer and in less than an hour it was all ground up and gone

I contacted several landscapers/arborists and Action was the only company that bothered to respond--and they replied promptly. They removed 3 trees and planted one new tree and 2 saguaros. UPDATE: We just realized that the Action employee who worked on the paver walkway cut the irrigation line (in the course of his work) and did not cap the line as he told my wife he would. We now have a MAJOR leak under the newly installed pavers which is flooding the entire area. This is was now realized as the irrigation system was turned off by Action Yard and NEVER turned back on. As stated below, we were out of town and did not realize until today that it had been off this entire time. Further evidence that the owner (Joe Mills) didnt bother coming to inspect the work of his team. Quite possibly the worst quality of workmanship I have ever experienced coupled with terrible communication between the owner (Joe Mills) and his team. They did not complete the work as contractually agreed and what work they did complete was armature at best. Their paver work is absolutely terrible. The pavers are not level (a full two inch slope on a walkway... one has to balance their weight to one side just to walk down the path.) And to make it worse, they pavers are not in line which is immediately obvious upon looking at them. Why they would leave them this way is beyond me. The other pavers they installed are between concrete steps and are so uneven with the concrete steps, one has to pay attention not to trip as they are walking along the sidewalk. The turf they installed is not even, was not filled with sand and looks as though whomever installed it was doing so unsupervised and for the first time. Per our written agreement, they were to install some pea gravel in a dog run area and between our house and detached garage. They did not do so and I highly doubt I will ever see it. To make matters even worse, not only did Joe Mills not come to inspect the final work performed (I have to think that if he did, he would be thoroughly embarrassed) he sent me an invoice in the amount of 50% MORE than we agreed upon. I complained as I never agreed to this and he became very upset, threw a fit (over the phone) and proceeded to charge my credit card for a lesser amount WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. I was out of town and had not even seen the shoddy, amateur work prior to being forced to pay for it. I will file complaints with both the BBB and the Register of Contractors and strongly urge anyone considering Action Yard and Tree to heed my warning... STAY AWAY. There is no shortage of landscaping company options in the Southern AZ area. My contention is that ANY ONE of them will be a better choice for you.

I called everywhere to get a quote to remove a cactus and they were very competitive with their pricing so I went with them the guy showed up and took the cactus down very quick and efficiently I am very happy with their services

The crew arrived on time. They were all professional, friendly and did a great job trimming my really overgrown trees. The trees look wonderful and the crew left my yard cleaner than they found it, all for a fair price. I will definitely use this company again when Im in need of tree trimming or tree removal..

The workers are great but the management of this place is HORRIBLE. First they never tell you when they are going to show up, if you do not call them they will skip months of service. This does not stop them from increasing their prices by $100 a month with no notice and charge your card anyway. They also charge you even once you cancel service. Please be careful.

I can only speak to the service person I got and this one experience. Armando at Action Yard and Tree. He came out just to give an estimate. He was low-level hostile to begin with...in my opinion. When he yelled at me I had to ask him to stop, take a step back and please be careful of his tone. No apology.. he just pretended I didnt say anything. I am a senior single woman and have seen my share of misogyny. I have taken classes on how to deal with difficult people so I was respectful and affirming the rest of the visit. His tone came down some. In my opinion, he maintained a posture of being unpleasant and unprofessional for a variety of reasons. I have used arborist before. It was also very difficult to get pertinent info. I serviced peoples homes for 30 years . Im not unfamiliar with house call estimate visits. He did --not- send me an estimate and I confirmed this with his boss. His boss never sent an estimate either. (Its been 8 days. My email was confirmed twice. As was my # . If the owner replies to these reviews Im not expecting to be portrayed well. I suspect the person that came out for the estimate, never had a boundary set. There are so many tree cutters and arborists in town I would not recommend them and I am going to write a personal letter to the owner.

To make a long story short, they seem to have trouble with fully completing jobs and, worst of all, they showed up in the morning to finish the job when I had specifically said no mornings. They said they would follow up to make another appointment but then ended up just showing up un-announced. These people have terrible communication skills and dont really appear to be able to follow directions. I am not paying good money for them to trim the tree how they feel like it.

The owner, Joe, charged me $350 to have two guys come out and plug two irrigation lines, which took twenty minutes. I had just moved out from Connecticut and needed to have them fixed ASAP. He took advantage and, well, to put it bluntly, ripped me off. If you want to be charged twice as much as you should pay and have your pocket picked, definitely use this business. Otherwise DON T!

$250 minimum?! For a yard thats barely a 1/10 of an acre. Their round up must have gold flakes in it or something...

Ive scheduled yard cleanup every quarter, and without fail they call me for payment before performing the service. On top of that they have now missed 2 confirmed appointments in a week. Time to look for a new company.

NO ACTION from ACTION YARD AND TREE On 8/11 Joe arrived at my home and gave estimate of $135 to air sweep my yard. Appointment made between 8 and 9 a.m. on the 19th. I called at 9:30 a.m. on the 19th to inquire ETA and I was informed that it was decided not to do my yard and and sorry I didnt get the memo/phone call. Enuff said

Called them because there were some problems with the irritation system they install. They were always to booked to come fix the problems. Chris said you and and I dont know how many other people. When I said said never mind youre too busy- Ill pay someone else to fix the problems Chiss answer was ok .

Got a call on Friday said we will be at my house on Monday to to the maintenance and replace a 15 gallon agave americana witch they planted approximately one month ago. I say planted but they butchered it. Came out on the 12 September no plant and no maintenance....Today they call to ask what kind of tree are they replacing...Really. there no good and not worth the aggravation!

Paid almost $300 an hour for cleanup, and they never finished. When I called them to tell them there was still stuff that needed to be done. They argued with me, and then said they would come back out and never did.

Action Yard and Tree Service removed an enormous multi trunk stump from my yard. They crew was friendly, professional, and on time. They did a great job removing the stump and cleaning up. I highly recommend this company.

Called to get a quote for my side and front yards. Their guy came out and they not only had the best price but they had a crew in the neighborhood and took care of everything the same day! Very pleased, the yard hasnt looked this good in years!

Called and made appointment for estimate on weed removal. I got a message at 5pm saying they needed to move my appointment from 8am to 3-4pm. I called then back and left a message saying I wouldnt be able to do that due to having to pick up my son from school. Never hear back from them so I figured they were keeping my appointment time the same as we originally planned for. Still never hear from them in the morning. 8:00 comes and goes. Its now 9:30 and I decided to call and ask if I was still having an appointment or what was going on. He said oh he didnt even get to his first appointment till 8 (which was supposed to be at 7) but he is finished with the appointment so he is coming to you. I said ok. So he shows up and stands at my door like this was the biggest inconvenience for him. Goes to my backyard gives me my price and says I will show myself out. I should have said dont let the door hit you on the way out. He was very unprofessional and mind you this is the owner that came to my house. They dont communicate what so ever.

They were effective in scheduling and squeezing in our appointment in a very timely fashion. This was very appreciated and was the best portion of their service. For what was charged for the work and time, the equivalent of $200/hr, their product was extremely lacking and underwhelming.

After speaking with some other landscapers and getting quotes, I thought my first sons inheritance would have to go to tree trimmers. But, I called Action Tree Service and Joe came over at the appointed time, we had some discussion about what needed to be done and a bit back and forth then came to an agreement. The team showed up a bit early but went right to the job, They did an OUTSTANDING job on Mesquites and palm tree! The were polite, fast and cleaned the mess up beautifully. We are very happy with the amazing and beautiful way they transformed our yard from a veritable jungle to a well-manicured showpiece. Our sons say parts of it look like someone elses yard! The owner, Joe, came out very quickly after our initial phone call, and was very knowledgeable about our plants and trees and what to do for them. We had many, many jujubes which are all connected by the same root system. They thinned them perfectly for us. They made sure to save a tree with an active birds nest in it, which the foreman noticed; we hadnt seen it, as well as almost all of our milkweed vines which are scattered all over the back and side yards. Then they sprayed pre-emergent at the end. The foreman and workers were polite and courteous. Everything was cleaned up when they were done, and, very happily, all plant and tree parts; all the green stuff, is always taken to a composting site! We will definitely use them the next time we need work done on our yard!

$900 quote for weed removal on a small yard. Not worth it

An estimate was given and a day and time set up. The day came. Half hour after scheduled time I get a call saying they will come after they finish a job from the day before. I ask when they expect to be done. Im told they dont know but will call. Eight hours later I call and am told that they came to my house at 11am and finished the job at 2pm. Now Ive been home all day. Nobody came or called. Turns out they let themselves into my neighbors backyard and did the work there! Unbelievable!

Great service and very professional workers

Two weeks ago, I had a HUGE Agave Cactus growing roots into my water tank partially buried in the ground. The tank feeds the house with a jet pump and pressure tank. I needed to remove the cactus to prevent more damage to the tank. I called Action. They said they would dig it up for $500. I wanted the hole to go down to the bung to remove the roots so I could repair the damage. Devin came out by himself. Another crew was hampered by truck troubles. Upon seeing the Huge cactus ( 4ft Hx 5ft W), Devin said he was not going to do it for $500. Hed do it for $1200 instead. I said No. If Im going to spend $1200, Ill put in a new water line to the well instead. Devin said hed give me an estimate for that. He paced it off at 408 ft. No measuring devices. He gave me an estimate of $3600! I asked him what size pipe did he plan to use? He said 3/4 pvc. I said No! For a 400 ft span? Are you nuts? Thats too small. I need at least 1 maybe even 1.5. He said one inch pipe would add $400 to the cost. I said that 400ft of 1 pvc pipe is less than $200! How do you get $400? He didnt have an answer. I had him pace it off a different way in a straighter line. The price didnt change for 90ft less. I said I needed a large pressure tank installed. He told me hed add another $800 to the cost to install it. For what? A little bit of pipe and a union? I already have the pressure tank right here, pointing to it laying on its side on the ground. Devin said hed have to stabilize it. How? Strap it down so it doesnt fall over. Pour a cement slab. Itll be full of water! The current tank has never fallen over! Its been there 20 years! We discussed the job more and I really felt he was trying to jack me around, being a woman. I had doubts about him. He went off to look at the hook up area while I called some knowledgeable friends. They both said the same thing....Hes a bum. Tell him to get lost. When I went outside, Devin was gone. He left without telling me. I called his boss. Told him, Dont send him back. Ill find someone else. The boss threatened to charge me $500 for the service call. I told him I wouldnt pay it. (The original contract for the cactus removal had been renegotiated.) Nothing was signed. Good luck in court. Later he called and changed his mind. I got another guy that had worked for a well driller. My line is done and the cactus is removed for a lot less than what Devin proposed. My pressure tank is installed too. I paid for the materials and trencher rental plus labor. Im happy.

Action removed 4 eucalyptus trees from our yard and they did a fantastic job. Their price was fair, they completed the job in a timely manner and they cleaned up everything. The president kept us informed each step of the way and everyone was very nice and professional. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

They showed up and started to take down our trees without even knocking on our door. All we wanted was an estimate. Luckily I stopped them in time before they began cutting the trees down. Horrible service. Seems more like a bait scheme where they do the work instead of the estimate and then bill you and say thats your cost NOT estimate.

Theyve done multiple jobs for us, and every time theyve been amazing. They come out, see what needs to be done, give us a quote (which is always a good price) and then do not only the job they quoted (on time and on price) but each time have done extra work without even mentioning it or charging for it. Highly recommend them!
