A Schendel truck was pulling a trailer that didn t have a cover or anything tied down, so litter (including empty plastic compost bags) were flying all over I-470. Hate to review a business for that, but as I was following all lots of junk was hitting my car and flying all over the highway. Keep our city clean, be ethical! Update: They have the rudest freaking drivers, I got over in my turn lane, drove past them to make my turn, and they honked at me for no good reason. Not my first poor experience with their driving. Based just on that I would never suggest using their services. If their employees are rude driving the company truck that doesn t speak well for that business.

We have been using Schendel for their Weed Zero Program for a few years now and couldnt be happier with the results. They are great at communicating when they are coming and it has drastically changed the condition of our lawn. Now we can walk barefoot with our kids when we are playing in the yard! Would highly recommend them for your lawn care needs.

The crew of 3 were here approximately 3 hours. They did regular bed maintenance services in addition to weed trimming and spraying poison ivy. Always courteous and pleasant.

Besides doing an excellent job on the entire lawn Austin very kindly picked up a half dozen or so large branches that had blown down in the front yard. I hadnt got to them yet and he hauled them off for me. I really appreciated that.

After sewer line replacement, I needed a section of my yard leveled and re-seeded. Schendel refused to do the work unless I also agreed to lawn care services from them. I can take care of my lawn, but I dont have the tools or skill to level my yard. Im very disappointed they refused my business for this project, and I will not be considering them in the future. Your mileage with them may vary, of course, but my experience was poor.

They are very professional & thorough in outlining the plan for lawn care & treatment.

My friend asked for her yard to be cleaned up for the fall I stopped by to see what they were doing.. company sent out three people and only two were working. The young guy was on his cellphone the entire time. No leaves were picked up only the flower beds were cleaned out. My friend has disabilities so sometimes she can do small jobs other times she can barely get out of bed. Shameful how these companies take advantage!!

I have been a customer of Schendel for a few years now. Never had any issues until last spring. In spring 2023, I had them come out and give me a bid to seed my backyard and remove some shrubs. I communicated with the Director of Landscape Services , told her I wanted to get on the schedule and was given a timeframe of a few days when they would come out. She gave me a snotty comment about how I needed to settle my balance from my sprinkler irrigation from getting it ready for spring or they wouldn t come out. Of course, I paid the bill and that was that. So the time frame came and went and Schendel never showed. I contacted Schendel and was told that I wasn t on the schedule, and would have Erin call me. Erin called me and acted like I was in the wrong bc her notes didn t have any date listed so surely I was wrong. She then went on and told me she was going to pull the (phone) tape . And I told her please do . She then told me it was too late in the season to seed my yard because it wouldn t grow, but if I wanted to spend the $500+ for the services and have them come out anyways that they would seed the yard. Why in the heck would I spend that much money for nothing. So I told her to forget it for this year, just put us on the schedule for Fall 2023 and we d just do it the next opportunity. Fast forward to July 2023- we had a fence installed and the fencing company busted one of our pipes for the sprinkler system. We called Schendel to get a quote for repair. We were told it would be about 10-15 days before they could come out for repair. I got a voicemail (which is still on my phone) stating that they were sending the manager to come look at the sprinkler system to give us a quote on 7/25/2023 with a see you then remark at end of message. That date came and went without Schendel coming. My husband called and was told that we weren t on the schedule but that they were backed up and would call us when able to put us on the schedule. Today is August 10, and we still haven t been contacted. It s been a month and we still haven t had our sprinklers looked at- it s been a month at this point- and this was for the quote, who knows how long getting on the schedule for repair would take. Very disappointed in this company and their lackluster customer service. Still haven t heard back about that pulled tape either, didn t expect to. EDIT 8/11/2023: The owner called me to discuss situation and apologized, he said they are going to come out next week to fix our irrigation system and rectify the situation. Will update once that happens and share my experience. UPDATE 08/16/2023: Schendel came out this morning to fix the sprinkler, took the guy 10 minutes. The owner told me last week they would take 50% off my service fee. I appreciate the owner personally contacting me about this to get everything sorted out. We can now turn our sprinklers back on and hopefully salvage our grass before the 100+ degree temps hit this weekend. I am changing my 1 star review to reflect their response and plan to stay a Schendel customer.

This was the first time we have had Schendel out to mow our lawn. Our lawn had gotten pretty overgrown on the sides due to not having a working weed eater. They came out and did so much more than we were expecting and now our yard looks amazing! Well definitely be continuing to use their services.

Wonderful people doing everything they can for us and our community. Absolutely recommend. Aaron and his team did an amazing job showing us what our backyard could be. They came up with an amazing design and built a pool, created retaining walls, installed low voltage lighting and planted beautiful plants that provide shade and privacy. The Schendel team was fast, courteous and incredibly detail oriented to make sure the design came out the way we wanted. 100% would recommend.

Everyone mentions how thick and green the lawn is at out HOA pool. Its been Schendel for years. They get all the credit. The grass is so thick, I couldnt fund dirt with a shovel.

Unfortunately our HOA is paying this company for lawn care, way to much money for the quality of work done by them. Their work is sloppy at best. They just showed up and sprayed weed killer that also kills new grass and flowers. No notice at all and a few of us had just put grass seed out in troubled areas only to have it go to waste. I would never never recommend this company to anyone!!

We had a contract for front lawn restoration. We didnt get the work we were expecting, but after making repeated calls we cannot get returned calls to discuss the issues. Update two weeks later this has been corrected satisfactorily. Matt is going above, and beyond to make sure we get the final result satisfactory. Thank you Matt.

Matt, Aaron and Scott helped me transfer my landscape needs from a previous company who sold my account to Schendel this year. They have been attentive to excellence in every request and competitive in pricing. My direct yard care helpers , David and Abel, come on a schedule; are efficient and competent often completing tasks of maintenance to improve my landscape even without my request. I value Schendel with 5 stars and would even rate them higher if possible. The office staff are also superb.

The guys at Schendel took over my yard about a year ago, the irrigation program is inexpensive and effective and the weed zero program rocks!! My yard has never looked better!!! !

Schendel has done the best job in caring for our lawn. Our grass is in the beat shape because of their care

No one is supervising there field staff. Schendel doesnt care if they lose existing customers. They are relying on getting new customers faster than they lose existing. Look elsewhere if you want continuous quality work. They do not police the lawn before they cut. As a result they shred trash and offal and trash your lawn. They blow cuttings into the street which is illegal, causing a slippery traffic hazard and clogging storm sewers flooding roads and properties b adding to water pollution. Schendel supervision reached out to me after my review and we had a productive discussion of my concerns. I also noted the day after my review the field staff policing trash from the area as they were cutting. The supervisor and i both agreed that dealing with trash in the city core is a daily job because of the high use of the area. We also agreed to both reach out to the owners and managers of the area of my concern. Bottom line is Schendel is responsive and worked with me on taking proactive action. Thank you Aaron.

I am disappointed in Schendel. I first used them in 2018 for mowing my large yard, landscaping the back yard, spring, midsummer and fall cleanup as well as weed control. I was pleased with everything so I hired their services again this year. Different story as far as the mowing, weed control and account executive go. The mowing crew has torn up my lawn in at least two places, I have lots of weeds and my new account executive has not lived up to her commitments. I am still very pleased with the cleanup crew but I will be looking elsewhere for 2020. Update - Schendel has been very responsive to my concerns and has rectified the problems. I may continue to use them in 2020.

Can I leave zero stars here? Absolutely the worst and most unprofessional service I have been a part of. This company services my grandmas lawn, she s 89 years old. They have sprayed her lawn more than 3 times and it s still full of weeds, two weeks she cancelled the mowing service when she didn t need it, they came anyway and was charged for it. Never mind the fact when she called to question the charges on her statement, when we called to get those cleared and cancel her service the lady on the other end HUNG UP on her. What kind of service is that?

Taylor is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to lawn care he knows what its going to take to get your lawn in tip top shape would recommend them to anyone. Excellent customer service and amazing results.

I recently had some landscape work done at my home by Schendel. to address a rain water runoff issue. I worked with Erick Auxier, one of their design specialists. Erick did a great job of listening to understand the situation and then come up with some options for a solution. Once the work on the project began he stayed in touch to make sure the job was progressing as it should. At one point one of the drains were about 5 feet from where it was supposed to go. I let Erick know and he had it taken care of the next day. Now when it rains the water doesnt pool in our back yard and the retaining wall they installed to reroute the water looks beautiful! I highly recommend Schendel for you lawn and landscape needs. Mark Penn.
