Artistic Landscapes in Tigard

Artistic Landscapes is FANTASTIC! Theyve been taking care of my landscaping for about 2 years and do a wonderful job. Robert (the owner) has earned my trust, which is the reason they were the only company I called when it was time to update my 30-year old sprinkler system. They recently finished the project to install a drip sprinkler system, a new backflow system, several different flowing shrubs to add color and texture to the property, and even repaired several areas of my old flagstone path to spruce things up. The result: The new drip system is great and my front, side, and back yard landscaping looks GOREGEOUS! The staff were total pros, easy to work with, and very responsive to my questions. Robert (owner) is a great communicator and will arrive at the scheduled times. I appreciated the walk-through with Robert and his crew before the work started. The crew arrived at the time/day they agreed to, stayed until the work was done, and left our yard immaculate. They are highly professional and detailed in their work and it is so nice to come home to a clean yard. I didnt realize the impact arriving home to either a clean yard or an unkept yard can make on our mental being. Our neighbors, even the one who doesnt give out many compliments, has stated how great our yard looks. Because we saw first hand how professional and detailed their crew is, we have also schedule a regular maintenance with them so we can have an immaculate yard year round. Artistic Landscapes did an amazing job at bringing my yard back to life, and making it look beautiful. I neglected my yard after moving into a new house not realizing how much work was going to need to be done, and was afraid to hire just anybody to do my yard work. Were extremely happy with our new yard - we started with absolutely nothing with a lot of needs needing to be met in a small space. Robert, owner of Artistic Landscapes, and his lead team member, Sergio, made our landscaping dreams come true. We were more than pleased with the exquisite workmanship and the quality of the materials used and are certain Artistic Landscapes has added value to our home. Robert stayed on budget and all work was completed by him and his team in a timely fashion. Roberts vision for our yard exceeded our expectations by leaps and bounds. We discussed our design preferences with him such as colors, types of plants and trees we favored, and Robert took all that in to consideration when he transformed our yard into the best in the neighborhood. He created a natural dry creek bed and slate walkway (see before and after pictures) that look like they have always been there, surrounded by a variety of trees, shrubs, and flowers that are perfect for our climate. We also had a drip irrigation system installed and accent LED lighting that beautifully illuminates his landscape masterpiece every evening. Our yard is basically no maintenance or fuss. OK, a little weeding once in a while. We were so pleased with the front yard, we asked Robert to spruce up our backyard too. He and his team, headed by Sergio, installed a drip irrigation system, accent lights, new bark dust, and a few well placed plants. Robert suggested a change on the side of our house and designed a walkway that makes it easier -and safer- to access that side of our house. Everyday, Sergio and his crew cleaned up the work area before leaving for the day (even cleaning up anything that may have drifted onto our neighbors property). They were always respectful and professional and arrived on time everyday and went above and beyond what was expected. And during the whole process, my beloved Little Free Library remained in place and open for business. Needless to say, we think our property looks stunning! Recently we hired Artistic Landscapes to expand our backyard patio for not only more entertaining room but to also accommodate my walker world (neuropathy). Robert and his crew installed a sprinkler system at my home. It was a great experience from start to finish. Not only did they go above and beyond and provided more watering capabilities than I originally got in the quote, but they also reduced the price afterwards due to some drilling that was no longer required. Recommend for any home landscaping needs.

We have been working with Artistic on with our house for the last 5 ish years, mostly basic lawn care. We had them fix our sprinklers to get our sprinkler system to reach our back yard (luckily we had enough pressure to make that happen). Recently one of the trees in our backyard died, and while Artistic couldnt do the exact tree removal they had a recommendation for an AMAZING arborist. We needed a new tree planted in that area, one that wasnt as high maintenance as the other. Artistic came out, removed the tree stump from the previous tree, planted a new tree while having to remove and replace part of our fence to access the spot. We have a rock retaining wall that needed fixing too (it has needed to be fixed 3 or 4 times now because people keep hitting it :( ) Each project has been 100000/10 and I would HIGHLY recommend artistic landscapes.

Robert did a good job explaining everything about the project details and also what kind of pavers i should be selecting. The crews also did a great job with working on the backyard as well as cleaning up. Love the end results

We hired Artistic Landscape to do a fall/winter clean up in our yard. The biggest part of the project was removing the super-ugly invasive Japanese Blood Grass which took over the space shared with our neighbors property. Roberts crew did an incredible job removing the grass, regrading the soil and putting down new bark dust. We now have a clean slate to work with this coming spring when we install something more attractive and manageable to hide the utility boxes.

Robert and his team were great to work with! We added artificial turf, a patio, barkdust, and an area for a shed. The workers were fantastic, and it was done on time.

Frustrating experience for a potential new customer like me. They have yet to contact me after I sent a detailed email about a quote 5 days ago. When I tried calling, the VM message says that they dont check thier messages and refer people to thier website. I just want to get my project going!

Robert, Jorge and Luis are the team that worked on my back yard and I recommend them because the quality of work is the best you can get in the Portland area. I live in Beaverton and Jorge and Luis were on time every day I asked important questions made sure that everything was going exactly how I wanted it to. When I had concerns they were addressed before I could even talk to them about it or they had a plan in place to fix the issue. I am more than pleased by the results the yard came out better than I anticipated.

I could not be happier with the work that Robert and his team did in my yard. I have a small yard and wanted a paver patio and path in my back and side yard, and easy maintenance with minimal water needs in my front yard. I got exactly what I wanted. I have gone from having my yard be a source of constant stress (weeds, overgrown bushes, etc.), to a beautiful escape. Robert stayed in touch with me throughout the process to make sure the work was meeting my expectations, and even added a surprise planter to my design. They do excellent work and care about their customers. You wont be disappointed! Update: Robert provided a one year warranty for his work. When I contacted him about some bushes that were dying, he came out and replaced no questions asked. He stands behind his work and cares about his customers. Over a year later, I am still so happy with my decision. Great work and great customer service! 2022 Update: 5 years after the original work there was a little settling in my paver patio and retaining wall. I took a picture of it and sent it to Robert asking if could give me an estimate for repair. He fit me in to their busy schedule and gave me a more than fair price for the repair work. Robert stands behind his work and wants customers to be happy, even 5 years later. I highly recommend!

We had a great experience. Robert and his team installed beautiful juniper wood planter boxes last year. The whole project took just a couple of days. Robert was very responsive and professional- and now my garden is my favorite place to be at home!

The job of Robert and his crew was exemplary. Punctual and accurate to the estimate they quoted at the beginning. It was not an easy job, basically requiring all hand work due to access. But the guys did a great job. Very happy and would hire again.

Our backyard walkways were a mess before working with Robert and Bonifacio- some parts were concrete, some were ugly mislaid pavers, one area by the fence was rotting wood, and other spots were cracking and falling apart. Lots of trip hazards for the kids, and not pleasant to look at. Roberts team came in and tore all of that up and put in lovely pavers to make everything match. The difference is huge- I went from actively avoiding that part of our backyard to loving it. Were very happy with everything they did for our home!

Update 2/20/20: This was our third big landscape project with Artistic (as well as a couple smaller jobs), and like before, Robert was great at listening to our goals and coming up with an appropriate plan, and his crew (this time led by Luis) made it all happen, getting more done per day than I thought possible, and always looking for additional touches to make the end result even better. Communication was great throughout the project, and the cost was very fair. I highly recommend them. ------------------------------ We had a great experience with Artistic Landscape. Robert was very easy to work with. We came to him with a lot of potential ideas, and he did a great job of listening to what we were trying to accomplish and turning it into specific projects, combining the things that made sense to work on at the same time and scoping to match our budget while making sure we had the infrastructure to do more later. Once we had landed on a plan, the implementation went without a hitch. Work was done as scheduled and as described. Sergio and the whole crew were amazing in how much they got done every day, and the care they took to get things exactly right. We will be using Artistic Landscape again for the next phases of our needs. Update October 2016: We used Artistic Landscape again for phase 2 of our yard project this year ( Fall 2016). Again, we had a great experience. Robert took the time to understand what we were after, and designed a project that met our needs at a very reasonable budget. Bonifacio and the rest of the crew were great, exceeding our expectations as they implemented the plan. One week after the project was finished, we had an unrelated flooding problem, and Robert sent out Bonifacio and Sergio the next weekend to implement some drainage enhancements to prevent future problems. On both of our projects with Artistic, we have felt like we were working with a trusted partner. We will be using Artistic Landscape for maintenance and any future projects.

Our back deck was falling apart and needed to be demolished and replaced with pavers. It was going to be a fairly big job, so we did our due diligence and sought out quotes from several places. The quote from Artistic Landscapes was similar in price to the others, but Robert was much more detailed and thorough with the information he provided in his quote. We ended up signing with Robert, and in the course of the work we found lots of additional things to get done as well. In the end their team also completed the following: New automatic sprinkler system for the front yard, removal/replacement of old plants in the front yard, installation of a water feature, construction of a pergola, and more. It was a big upgrade! We love how both the front and back yard turned out. Were very happy with the results and with the experience with Artistic Landscapes. We will definitely work with them again when we need more work done

Artistic Landscapes did an amazing job for us, we had a complete overhaul done to both our front and back yards. They not only re-shaped and re-graded our yard but installed drainage, new sod, lighting, a complete sprinkler system, a gorgeous paver patio, and beautiful fencing. The crews showed up on time did amazing artistic work always leaving things as clean as possible at the end of the day. Robert and his team are extremely friendly and professional. We recently had our back yard done and we are so happy with the results!! Robert and his crew renovated our yard at our old home and we were really impressed with the quality of their work so we decided to get another bid with him for our new home. Our current home is a new construction so it was basically a blank slate. We had some ideas of what we wanted... but Robert again really impressed us with his knowledge with experience. He thought of some things that we overlooked. He is very detail oriented and his bid blew the other bids out of the water. It was very precise, we knew exactly what we were getting. We had a general idea of what we wanted, and after meeting with Robert for the first time it was obvious he would perform the work right, and give us a wonderful outdoor living space. Those stihl leaf blowers are extremely loud and I hear them all over the neighborhood almost every day this time of year (November). It seems like a lot of contractors like to use these same leaf blowers as well as Artistic Landscapes. I am wondering if anything can be done to muffle the sound of these extremely loud leaf blowers or if there are quieter ones that are just as effective. It sure would make life at home a lot more pleasant considering that a lot of us are working from home now due to Covid-19.

We had seen the work done by Artistic landscape while going for a walk in the Tigard area during the summer. We wanted a new fence and Pergola put in in our own yard and felt that the work we had seen was exactly what we wanted. After meeting with Robert, we decided to move ahead and could not be more thrilled that we did. The fence around our entire acre, as well as the Pergola, we done within our timeframe. The craftsmanship that went into each project was exceptional! I can not say enough about Andrews crew for the pergola and Bonafasios crew on the fence. Each came on time, worked diligently to get the work done in a timely manner. and left the workspace spotless when all was said and done. The end product for each, far exceeded our expectations. Robert and his crew definitely exceeded our expectations. We recently moved into a home with a 7000 sq ft lot. The theme was in place, but needed a practical, experienced cleanup, bordering, and some imagination. We did not want to get into a big restructuring project, but wanted our new yard to look and feel nice, and add value to our home. One delima was a side extension of gravel by the driveway. It really detracted from the curb appeal. Robert saw right past that and envisioned a low retaining wall to keep the gravel from spilling into our neighbors yard. That low wall of stonework is a real showpiece. The gravel bed was cleared of grass and weeds, releveled with fresh gravel, atnd improved the looks of the house %100. The entire yard was cleared of weeds, stray grass, leaves, etc. The many small trees, bushes, plants and shrubs we have, were neatly sculpted to compliment each other. The back yard waus given a defined border, completely surround with fresh bark. The sides of the house are both neat and clean. A utility area, (that yes, looked like a utility area), is now the proud new spot for the waste management containers. Before, it was a large, unkempt area, now I am just as happy to show that area off as the rest of the yard. Robert s crew even realigned one of my side gates that was terribly off. I did not even mention this to Robert. When the job was done and I walked around to see how well everything looked, I immediately noticed the gate was straight! Would definitely recommend Artistic Landscapes to everyone. The whole crew is very professional, hard working, and they take pride in their work. Thanks Robert, my wife and I could not be more pleased with the work you did at a reasonable price.

Super pleased! Robert and his team just finished a ten-day project to replace a side yard of mulch with pavers and synthetic grass. Sergio did most of the work (along with Bonoficios synthetic grass expertise). Sergio was timely, hardworking, respectful of our property and did amazing work (especially with the pavers). At least six different neighbors have already commented on how well it was done. Robert communicated almost daily and made numerous visits to oversee the progress. I truly enjoyed Roberts treatment of his team and his customer relations. I highly recommend Artistic Landscapes.

As usual they did an amazing job. Robert is a joy to work with and his crew members are all excellent workers. My beautiful front yard was originally designed and created by Artistic Landscapes. It is Asian inspired with a dry river rock creek bed and appropriate plantings. This job was to refresh and tweak the design a bit. The back yard jobs were somewhat unusual requests, but Robert and his crew came through with flying colors. They are my go to company and I will definitely use them again to carry out my next creative vision!

We are very pleased with the work Artistic Landscapes did for us on a large flower bed in our front yard. We liked that they: - are competent professionals and true artists, courteous and easy to work with; - created a re-landscaping plan that incorporated design features we desired, such as, retaining an existing Japanese Maple tree in the design; - suggested features we had not thought to include in our specifications, such as, boulders and river rock to simulate a dry stream bed; - worked quickly and efficiently to complete the work in just a few days after the project start date; and - included extra plants at no additional charge to give us a more beautiful product.

100% recommend Artistic Landscapes! The beginning canvas was a quite narrow unfinished strip of yard and a concrete slab on the side of our new construction home. Initially we were assuming the area would be an unusable mess of gravel and bark dust that did nothing more than provide a gated area for our dogs to access. Artistic Landscapes were not only able to create an aesthetically pleasing design but one that is practical and functional. The end result was a beautiful and simple design that encompassed a paved entertainment area, artificial turf for our furry family members, and a sleek river rock design to account for drainage. Robert was a joy to work with. Polite, on time, professional. Everything you could hope for in a contractor.

I researched a few companies in my area and narrowed it down to a few companies with good reviews and clean records on the Better Business Bureau. Robert was great, scheduled an estimate right away. He took my idea of what I wanted to accomplish and made it better. His suggestions were great and I never felt like he was trying to sell me on anything. The estimate was very thorough, so I knew exactly what I was getting. This also made it easy to compare bids. I chose them because of their attention to detail and ease of communication. Throughout the project, they were easy to get a hold of and they met and exceed expectations with their high level of service. From beginning to end, and even after the follow up, it was a great experience. I will use their services again and would recommend them to everyone.

Contacted Artistic Landscapes to have our front yard completely relandscaped, with artistic design. We came across Robert and Artistic landscapes on Angies list several years ago. We wanted to have our front yard landscaped, as well as a small patio put in. The moment we met Robert, It was clear that this is someone who loves his job, and his enthusiasm is contagious! He came up with a wonderful design within our budget, and even added some extra touches. Fast forward to this spring, when we decided to get a new deck and fence. Robert worked with us on several options, until we found something that was in our budget. We went with a composite material for the deck, so it would last longer, and aluminum railing, as opposed to wood. The fence included 3 gates, as well as stain. Both The new deck and fence are amazing! The deck included gravel underneath and lattice work around, to make everything look nice. Robert even gave us a couple extra feet (original deck was going to be 10 x10 -but the finished product ended up being 12 x12 ) and only charged for the labor. I think what was most impressive was the craftsmanship! The deck is solidly built, and the fence follows the contour of the yard. Even more amazing is that Roberts project manager, Bonifacio, did all of the work himself! Were looking at landscaping our backyard, hopefully next spring, and I cant wait to see what Robert comes up with!

We had Robert and his crew redo our yard after a major home renovation. The yard project included pathways, dry stream beds, new lawns and shrubs and irrigation. We are completely satisfied with the results. The crew was great-efficient, polite, and professional and left the job site clean and neat each day. Robert and his team at Artistic Landscapes were a joy to work with. From the initial meeting through the completion of the project, Roberts enthusiasm was consistent and his willingness to adjust and bend to meet our needs was exceptional. Robert was very proactive in his communication and provided near daily emails indicating what was going to happen on the job. You can never go wrong by giving your crew a caffeine jolt. Rolando and Sergio started early on a Saturday morning. We left the home to get out of their way. We came back to a backyard Oasis. They did our entire back yard cleanup, weeded, did light to mid pruning, removed one smaller tree, laid down a nice (thick) layer of bark. Lots of people go thin on the bark covering which is nice that they put enough down. I would highly recommend Robert and his team at Artistic Landscapes. The team from Artistic Landscapes was punctual and arrived when they said they would to complete removal and building a new dry stack rock retaining wall in our front yard. Robert seemed to know his workers very well and spoke highly and respectfully of them. The workers were diligent and cleaned up the project area very well at the end of each work day. The wall looks amazing and we are continually getting compliments on it!

Robert and his team were awesome. Robert was a pleasure to work it and Im so glad I chose him to do my landscaping project. His team, especially Sergio, are incredible. We are very happy that we chose Artistic Landscapes. Our home of 35 years had never had any professional landscaping, so we decided to make over the entire property. We had some ideas, but Robert enthusiastically offered several others. He truly has a gift for envisioning the possibilities of a property. We first called in the busiest time of year (the spring) so the project couldnt start until the end of August. But Robert kept us informed throughout the project, and when our turn came, the team arrived in force and the project was completed within a month. We had 3 trees removed, a short retaining wall built, irrigation system installed, two planter boxes built, a paver path installed around 1/2 of the house, lighting installed, and much more. We also decided to replace our deck and roof first, since the delayed start date provided a perfect window for that work. Roberts team worked around the contractors as needed and all worked out great. Our team leader, Bonifacio, was extremely friendly, flexible, and always cheerful. But he did take a day off when his wife had their second baby. :) Overall we are very pleased with the final result and would highly recommend Artistic Landscapes to anyone.

We recently contracted Artistic Landscapes to execute a complete landscape renovation at our home and we are thrilled with the final result! We sort of had a plan in place when we reached out to Robert who was referred to us by a good friend. He started with our plan but also took the time to understand what our goals/concerns/vision behind the plan was and pretty quickly made some very compelling recommendations that made a lot of sense given what we ultimately wanted. While we had struggled working with other landscape contractors in the past, we immediately felt very comfortable with the contrast that Robert provided right from the start. The passion he has for his business and your project as a reflection of that business comes shining through the minute you meet him! There were multiple times throughout our project that we decided to go against our typical detail-oriented instincts and rely on Roberts expertise and we were really rewarded in a couple of ways: 1) it is not false advertising that artist is in the name of his business, our finished product is beautiful and far better than anything we would have come up with ourselves but still within the confines of our high-level agreed upon expectations, 2) Robert and his company really earned our trust including multiple times scaling back on certain aspects of our project to fit our budget as well as the fact that our final bill looked pretty much identical to the initial detailed quote we received in the first place (despite the fact we know they spent extra time and materials on certain areas). When it came to the actual work itself, Roberts crew was really impressive. They were extremely hard working (I couldnt believe they worked through 100 degree weather!), very respectful of our privacy and property, and were very friendly to top it off. In fact, our young children were actually quite upset after 3-4 weeks when the men werent around to watch work in the yards anymore! Bottom line, Robert and his crew consistently went the extra mile and it felt like they treated our landscape renovation like it was happening at their own homes. I would (and already have) highly recommend Artistic Landscapes to anyone considering a small or large landscape project. My wife and I talked about doing something like this for a long time, and now we are thrilled we finally made this investment for our kids to grow up with and have an amazing set of yards to show for it.

The weather was very wet for weeks and interfered with painting the house and trying to coordinate the landscaping effort at the house.. Artistic Landscapes was exceptional with frequent communication facilitating the coordination, ensuring I was aware of progress and any potential problems. They remained extremely flexible to meet the time frames in completing the project. This company has just completed a third project in your yard--retaining walls, raise garden area; paths; fences; and general yard clean-up and maintenance--dating to the spring of 2012. They go above and beyond, always. The work crew is hard working, pleasant, courteous, impressive. They come when they said the would, or let you know well in advance why they cannot (think major snow, ice, torrential downpour). They do more than they said they would do. They do things I didnt realize needed doing and do not charge extra for going that extra mile. Robert, the owner, is friendly and fair. He comes up with creative solutions that save you money and look wonderful. He is great at communicating. He treats his work crew very well. I have never been disappointed by this company--always surprised and delighted.

My wife and I relocated from NJ to Portland a few months and purchased a beautiful 8 yr old home. Unfortunately, the lawn and landscaping had been completely neglected. To the point that it was an eye sore. We went to a lawn and garden show at the convention center in February and spoke to several landscape companies. Additionally, I researched on Angies List for highly rated companies that werent at the show. In all, we invited 4 companies to give us bids. Robert, of Artistic Landscapes, was very knowledgable and friendly. We picked Artistic Landscapes basically because he really seemed interested in making us happy and offered several creative ideas in his proposal. His price was very reasonable. Robert and his crew (Sergio and Bonafacio) were extremely professional and spent almost 4 days turning our ugly outside into the beautiful property we had envisioned. They removed all the dead old grass and roots from both the front and back yards. After that new dirt was added and plowed in to a depth of 8 inches. Next the yard was leveled and rolled. Finally, the sod was laid and cut. I was skeptical if the front yard would ever be attractive; it had such a sharp drop off with ruts. No worries..it looks like a putting green now! The back looks equally wonderful. The next step was planting about 25 plants and small trees into our now beautifully mulched areas near the street and around the house and fence in the back yard. Robert picked plants that are native to Oregon. All are perfect and compliment the house! One of the great things is Robert was constantly suggesting changes and additions on the fly as the project began to come to fruition. It was a fluid, not static job. As an example, his suggestion to radically change a stone wall made a terrific design even better! Everyone walking down our street has commented on how beautiful everything looks. We couldnt be happier and absolutely recommend Artistic Landscapes for your project.

All work was performed on time and as promised. Our new entry walkway and steps look fantastic. Robert is the owner and gave us the estimate. Luis is his foreman and Marvin was on the job also. Robert had good ideas and vision for how the project would look. He is very involved and accessible. He was at the site almost every morning to make sure everything was on track and answer any questions. He is also very available via email which I appreciate. We knew we had a tree root underneath the old brick walkway, lifting it up, but we did not know exactly where. I was concerned about the root being damaged by the demolition and causing problems with laying the new pavers. Luis removed the old walkway with a jackhammer, but with such care that he did not damage the root at all -- there was not a scratch on it. He worked with an arborist I called in to decide what to do about the root. The arborist said we should not remove it, so Luis successfully worked around it. Our neighbors have commented how nice the new walkway and steps look and also how polite Luis and Marvin were. We are very satisfied and would use Artistic Landscapes again on another project and recommend them to others.

We took a number of bids to work on our yard project, and Roberts wasnt the lowest (or the highest), but he was attentive, was willing to work with our ideas and give good feedback, and was rated highest on Angies List, so we went with him. He planned the project well and was able to give us good responses so that we could go through our HOA approval process quickly and easily, and was there to start the project on time when that came. His crew was courteous and clean, so using the house during the project wasnt an issue. Robert came by a number of times to take us through the plan, and to check in with us on the progress. As the crew was marking up the back yard for a patio, I noticed that something seemed different, and sent Robert an email about it. He was not only able to respond in the same day, but came over at the end of the day to explain what was going on, and ask us if wed like to have it done differently. His attention to detail was great. There were a number of small things that wed never even thought of that he was able to bring to our attention, and were very glad with all of those touches three months on. Weve enjoyed our new yard, and couldnt be happier with the work. Were planning on doing more work next summer, and well be calling Robert again for it.

These guys are total pros! After describing for Robert what my wife and I hoped to accomplish with the yard he spent nearly an hour walking the property making notes. He then sat down and gave us a written estimate describing in detail a creative plan that included all costs, materials, etc. His crew started every day on time and worked until the job was complete, even in 100 degree heat. They were reliable and personable. When the project was complete we were completely blown away at what a beautiful job they had done!! Our expectations were completely exceeded in every phase and we love looking at our yard! We had estimates from other companies and Artistic Landscapes was priced very reasonably but the other guys came nowhere close to matching the detail and professionalism they displayed. I give them an excellent recommendation.

We cannot say enough good things about Robert and his crew at Artistic Landscapes! Our front yard needed serious help after being in rough shape since we bought our home 3 years ago. Robert and his team were able to transform it into not only an amazing looking landscape, but one we are able to be proud of when people go by. Within two days, our yard was completely transformed and people driving by were giving us compliments! One of the things I really appreciate about Robert is his enthusiasm about his work. He is so knowledgeable and answered all of our questions with ease. When he came over to do the estimate, he went out of his way to work within our budget to get the job done. Several years ago we removed decaying stacked railroad ties that were used as a low retaining wall in front of our front lawn and wanted to replace them with a rock wall. I found Artistic Landscapes on Angies List, checked out the reviews (overwhelmingly positive) and their website where I found photos of exactly the kind of wall we were looking for. I called Robert and made an appointment to meet several days later. He arrived on time and outlined his proposal for installing a dry stack rock wall (no mortar). We received a very competitive bid several days later, nearly 50% less than a prior bid from a landscaper who was unable to provide any photo examples of what our wall might look like. Robert, on the other hand, had multiple examples on his website and described in detail the process and his suggestions for building the wall including his hand selecting the rocks, site preparation, and his personal involvement in the project (rock walls are his favorite). We accepted the bid and scheduled the installation for a couple of weeks later. Robert estimated it would take about 2-1/2 days and it did. He and his crew arrived on time each day and called when they were on their way from the quarry. They tidied up the site each day after work and when the wall was done they swept and powerwashed the adjacent hardscapes. Robert checked with us at various stages throughout the building of the wall to make sure we were ok with how it was proceeding. They relocated plants when necessary and finished off with a top-dressing of barkdust. The finished product is beautiful, exactly what we wanted, delivered on time, and at a great price. I would not hesitate to hire Artistic Landscapes again.

I will begin by saying that I have never been so happy and impressed with a contractor of any type, ever! The overwhelming success of this project began well before this beautiful retaining wall to extend our patio was completed. The project began with a complete landscape design by Sarah. We are so happy with the plan in and of itself. It is very professional and detailed and includes a top to bottom approach including hardscapes, walkways, storage areas and every plant and tree including maintenance instructions. Sarah determined that beginning with extending the patio would be the best place to begin as we would receive the biggest bang for the buck, and she was right on! Prior to the work we received a detailed estimate of costs breaking it down between materials and labor. Both Robert and Sarah worked hard to make this wall come in at our budget and they were successful. At this point we were so impressed with their professionalism and customer service that we were excited to have them come do the work. As the project began early in the morning on a Saturday it became evident within 30 minutes that we had a PRO team on the job! Robert and his crew, Louis and Sergio worked for two full days and knocked it out in record time. Honestly, I dont know how they did it, but they did it with class, professionalism and an uplifting and positive attitude. I kept pinching myself throughout the project, feeling so lucky to have this team at our home. I have had rotten experiences in the recent past with contractor who are not honest, take twice the time stated to complete the project, or not complete it at all. So I cant begin to truly express my gratitude to Robert, Sarah and the guys at Artistic Landscapes for their commitment to quality and customer service. I am a Realtor in Portland and my wife and I own a few rental houses so Ive seen many jobs performed by various landscaping companies over the years. For us, the highest priority was putting in a sprinkler system and replacing a large old lawn, but we also had several other landscaping issues that we weren t happy with but didn t know what to do about it. Lucky for us, Robert and his wife Sarah (who has a degree in landscape design) had many ideas about how to solve the problems we had. Although their price was a little bit higher than some other bids, we got the benefit of them working together to design and plant our new landscape. It was important to us to have landscaping that would fit in with the natural surroundings of our property. Although he did not do any paper drawings, and we weren t sure about some of the ideas he had, we are very happy with the end results. There were several happy surprises and features that turned out better than we had envisioned ourselves and had not expected. The sprinkler heads are amazing; 3 different types that are a joy to watch as well as being very efficient. The lighting is also excellent with spot, driveway, and pathway lights that are in all the right places. They remind us of Butchart Gardens in Victoria, BC! The original estimate was 3 to 4 weeks for our project, so we had to get on their calendar 2 months before the work started. Robert met with us a few times to talk about the project beforehand and to clarify details and answer many questions. The actual project took about 6 weeks. We were lucky they could stay longer to take care of many extras that were not part of the original proposal. We were so pleased with the results that we chose to become a regular maintenance customer, and we will definitely call Artistic Landscapes when we re ready to do any more improvements to our property. In addition to being an expert landscaper, Robert has many connections to other professionals that can complete work that he and his crew are not able to do. He knew a welder and was able to get rid of an old well pump that was in the way. He also gave us a great recommendation for a guy that does tree cutting and stump grinding that was cheaper and done better than somebody else we had hired in the past. Robert is an expert in irrigation systems, lawns, lighting, edging, retaining walls, planting, and the list goes on. He knows where to get top of the line materials and has all the tools needed for every aspect of your landscaping. We really can t recommend him highly enough!

This is our second time using Artistic Landscapes for our backyard remodel. Again, they exceeded our expectations. Robert and his crew installed blended soil throughout our entire backyard. Then, they added two new sod lawns. They spread barkdust on our entire property and applied pre emergent to our shrub beds. Lastly, they added 9 large boulders as a decorative feature throughout the backyard. The crew worked quickly and efficiently to get the project done in a timely manner. Robert has a eye for landscape and is great about working with a budget. We really appreciated the fact that he was always on hand to oversee the work being done. He also was in constant contact with us during the week and finished on time. All of the members of his crew were polite and hard working. We were so pleased with the outcome that we will be using them for our weekly maintenance. We highly recommend this company for all your landscape needs!

The Job: Install stone pathway and retaining wall on side of our house; the pathway was approximately 381 sq. /ft. Also fix / install new sprinkler system and heads. The total time to complete the job was 4 days with a three man crew. I got four quotes for the work and Robert was the only one that sent me an invoice with details of the costs of the job so that I could understand where the expense was in regards to labor and materials. Robert was willing to work with me since I did some of the work myself and purchased most of the materials and he adjusted the quote accordingly. The only minor issue is the date he stated he could start got pushed out twice due to large volume of work he had, this was not a concern for me but felt worth noting. Robert was in constant contact with me either by phone or email if he had any questions or concerns while on the job site. The thing I appreciated the most is that he was onsite for the entire time the work was being done. Once the job was completed Robert had me review all the work to confirm it was what I expected and it turned out exactly as I hoped. The crew cleaned up all work material and power washed the entire area where they were working.

We had tried to come up with a plan for our back yard but just werent happy with the results. We had Robert come over to give us a quote and within seconds he was coming up with ideas. He finished our retaining wall, graded the hill, put in rich soil, added a dry creek bed (very nice touch), put in 66 new plants and put in bark dust. The results are an amazing transformation of our back yard where we will enjoy spending every minute we are out there.The crew was always on time and all tools were put away and the area cleaned up after every visit. The price for the work provided was a very good value. We give Robert and his crew our very highest recommendation!

Robert and his crew were everything we were hoping to find! They completed the first of several projects we have planned for our yard. Artistic Landscapes installed garden boxes, a beautiful paver patio and surrounding garden beds in a small area of our yard. Robert met with us and listened to our vision and used his expertise and creativity to design and build a beautiful addition to our existing garden and patios. He was able to convert an unused, ugly, weed-filled part of our yard and turn the area into one of our favorite parts of the garden and yard. Shortly after the landscape project was done, Robert checked on the project multiple times while we were out of town and made additional adjustments and changed defective parts of the existing irrigation system (without additional charge) to ensure that the new plantings would receive sufficient water during a period of high heat. Robert and his crew were courteous and experienced professionals. We were pleased to find things cleaned up at the end of each day and tools put away. It was a pleasure to work with Artistic Landscapes. Robert made the whole process easy and effortless for us.

We sought out three bids from companies with good reputations on Angies list to install a sprinkler system in the front and back yards, install sod and put in two trees in the front yard. Artistic came in with the highest bid, but he also presented us with many of his own ideas which is one of the reasons we selected him. I could also tell from the write up with his bid that he was really listening to what I wanted and that impressed us. I told all three companies about our drainage problems and two of the three gave us a separate bid for drainage systems. Robert, however was certain that removing the current grass with its clay, bringing in good soil and sanding loam, tilling and grading the property appropriately (which are all things he would do anyway when installing new sod) would naturally solve this problem. After a raining season, if the problem persisted, we could talk about other solutions. After seeing how much material his team brought into the backyard (the entire yard is 4-6 inches taller) I dont think well be seeing a drainage problem. We decided to go with his suggestion to replace the utility area and a useless side area with compacted gravel and a pathway that connected the two areas. He separated this section from the sod with a dark paver stone giving the backyard great lines and continuity throughout the property. Our entire property is now beautiful, accessible and useable. Despite my hesitation with the number of boulders he suggested for the landscaping, I gave him the freedom to landscape how he saw fit. He chose plants that were right in line with what I told him of the day of the bid, he put beautiful flagstone pads in the hose areas and a beautiful flagstone path through a landscaped area, making it an access point to the side of the house. Those are now my favorite parts. Im very happy with his ideas for the landscaping. Robert Kinsey, the owner, was working on site for nearly the entire project and he had an excellent crew, all of whom paid great attention to detail. His team was polite, courteous, professional and I enjoyed having them around the house. Every square inch of my property looked sharp and manicured by the the time they were done. At the end of everyday, they spent a considerable time cleaning up and power washing the area, driveway and sidewalks. That meant my house never had a speck of dirt tracked inside and many neighbors approached me impressed with how clean they were. Robert takes great pride in his work and even includes two follow up maintenance visits to insure the sod is cared for properly as it takes root and the rest of his work is cared for correctly. We now have a sprinkler system that would make an Oregon rainy season envious, covering our entire yard, vegetable beds as well as drip lines to our hanging pots. The entire job took him and his team 12 days to complete with only one day off. Im very happy with our selection and would highly recommend Artistic Landscaping to anyone.

The Job: Remove rotting railroad ties that were our builders cheap solution to leveling our back yard. Install Keystone Wall instead and level the back yard. Install paver patio. Edge patio with barkdust/plants. The Crew: Robert and his crew (ranging from 2-3 workers depending on the day) showed up on time every day. They worked steadily through the day. They cleaned up the tools and supplies and whole area nightly. They were friendly and very hard working. Price: Robert was very flexible in giving me a variety of bids depending on exactly what I wanted done. He stuck with his price and was very professional. End Results: LOVE IT! Just what I was hoping for. Nicely finished and done in a quality way! I would recommend them to anyone and would use them again for sure. Thanks Robert!

My project - I was looking to have a natural rock retaining wall and some arbs put in my yard. I had one landscaper come out (someone I found on CL) and they gave me a bid. This company was very nice but didnt seem overly excited about the project. I decided to become a member of Angies list to try and find a landscaper that way. I called many companies and told them I already had a bid and for what price. All of them said they couldnt get close to that bid. All but Artistic Landscapes. I was very interested in Artistic Landscapes due to all of the WONDERFUL reviews on Angies list. I also liked them right off the bat because the owner, Robert, does his consults after business hours. Our first appointment was at 6pm. This was so helpful for me since I work from 8-5pm and all other landscapers only wanted to do consults during business hours. I ended up being late to our first appointment. I called Robert from the road about 5 minutes to the start of our appointment. He was very forgiving and instead we ended up just talking about the project. I talked to him about the other bid I got and he told me he could beat it. He sounded so excited about the job. He said retaining walls were his favorite. He was so kind. We did schedule another meeting so he could get a closer look at our yard. In the meantime Robert left me a folder with sample pictures of his work and a list of references. When Robert came to my house for a second time (our first face to face meeting) he was so pleasant. He gave me a bid right there on the spot. Beat the other bid by $300. He also brought examples of the rock he would be using. At this meeting we talked about him planting some arbs I had bought. He said he would only charge me for regular man hours for his regular maintenance crew. He estimated it would take 2-4 hours to plant all of the arbs (we ended up with about 22 arbs). After about a week or two of pondering about this project we finally decided to move forward with it. When I emailed Robert he said his schedule had filled up and he would be available to start November 1. This was about a month out from the time I said go. This was no problem for us though. Robert started the project just a few days late. Again, no problem for us. The project took about a week to complete. I loved watching the progress every day. I was so impressed with Roberts crew. At the end of each day, they neatly cleaned up after themselves, including using a blower to clean up around them. Robert went above and beyond what I expected. He laid fresh bark dust (the good stuff!) in the areas he worked in. We just couldnt be happier. It was worth the wait to select Artistic Landscapes. Im sure well be calling Robert and his crew back to help with other projects over the years. Ive also already referred him to a friend after showing them pictures of our new rock wall.
