This guy is not honest. Took a down payment on a drainage job and did not come back to actually do the job until after many follow up phone calls and months later. It was not apparent that the quality of the job was lacking until after the first big rain. If you’re looking for honest work and someone that will back their work, keep searching and don’t stop with this guy. He’ll probly leave a reply to this review as a rebuttal for his services. But if you choose him for a job, do so with caution and do not give him money up front.

Wish I had never heard of this guy. He did some so called landscaping. Gave him 3000.00 dollars on Friday said he'd see me on monday..well 3 months later he finally turns up with equipment.. had a heavy rain everything washed and he wants me to pay him to come fix. Told me I should have planted grass. Who plants grass in October. So he's screwed me out of $6000.00. And thinks he's gonna screw me out if more.

I called on Wednesday to get a quote and was told to text name and address but it would be Friday at 1-2 pm. Well I waited but no one every shown up. I called back but no answer. Did not come by when he said he would and didn’t call or return any phones calls as to why or reschedule.

First, I want to make clear that this review is not for any services performed by Southern Landscapes, as they never did come out to my home and perform any work. I am leaving this review because their customer service left much to be desired. I contacted them to request a quote on some landscaping projects that I wanted to have done. The individual I spoke with on my first call seemed friendly and stated he could come out to my property the next day or the following Monday (I contacted him on a Thursday) to take a look and give me an estimate. He stated he was familiar with my subdivision as they had done some pine straw for a customer that also lived in our neighborhood. Hopeful that I could get a quote I waited for him to contact me and let me know he was coming. I never heard back from him. I tried calling again several times with no answer. Finally, on what was probably my third or fourth time calling I finally got someone to answer. He took down my phone number and address and said he could be at our house at 7am the following morning to see what we wanted done and work up an estimate. I set my alarm for 6:30am and proceeded to get up the next morning and wait for him to arrive. He never did, nor did he call to explain why. I understand that sometimes things happen, even at the last minute, and appointments have to be shifted or rescheduled. However, no one ever contacted us to schedule another time or give us a reason why they didn't show up. If you're too busy or can't perform the work just tell me that. Don't leave me in the dark. I'm sure this company probably does good work - if you can get them to answer your calls or actually come out to your home.

This guy is a absolute crook. Didn’t finish my job. Will consider if he’s worth the time to take to court. Edit: In response to the owners reply I know I have the right company. My wife and I hired you in March of this year and you didn’t complete the side flowerbed the way you promised to. We called and texted you for months trying to get you to come back out and you never did. While I appreciate your effort to defend your business, one way you could do that is to finish what you started and stand by your promises.

I wish I’d never met this guy. James (southern landscapes) did some work for us around the first of March 2019. I used my neighbors yard as an example of what I wanted, I asked for the exact same plants because I liked his corner bed. I wanted evergreen plants, nothing flowering (just like the neighbors yard) because I can’t take care of them. He (James) put in the wrong plants (tons of roses). When I brought it to his attention he initially said we’d “never discussed” what was going in that bed. When I pointed to the neighbors yard he realized his mistake and he was very apologetic and promised to come back and fix it. Once our check cleared we never saw him again. I spoke to him at least 6 times over the next few months with him always promising to “come on Friday and finish up”. Never happened. On one of the last times I spoke to him he tried to put the blame on me claiming it was a “miscommunication” on my part. No way, I couldn’t have been clearer. He had a visual representation of what I wanted. It was a misunderstanding on his part and he has refused to make it right. I called one more time (June 2019) to see if maybe he’d do the right thing come out to fix his mistake but instead he put me on hold for 27 minutes until I hung up. Every time I look at that corner bed I’m saddened and disappointed I ever trusted this “company”. Any response from the owner will just be attempt to shift the blame and minimize my feelings. If he’d like to make it right he has my number and address. It’s on the check he so quickly cashed.

Backyard irrigation installation and centipede sod installation. Two and a half or 3 day job turned into a 6 day job. Sod stayed stacked for basically 5 days! When laid out it was a checkerboard of green and brown/black sod! Work ethics is poor: Not showing up for work, staying on phone too much, saying what was to transpire next but not happening and caught lying. Trashed the back patio with grass, bottles and trash. Destroyed the 3 corner flower beds. Basically a rush on the last evening to get sod out by 11:00 p.m. Failure to followup after that evening and when asked to come check the sod. Seems to be knowledgeable of landscaping and was impressed of the procedures he planned; but getting him here to completely follow through with plans was a disaster. Services for front and back lawn terminated!
