Rhine mitigated the multiple drainage issues on our property. The crew diverted water from the downspouts away from the home by trenching and installing drainage pipes, extending the drainage to the lowest areas beyond the yard. This has eliminated severe erosion in one area and stopped our front walkway from being submerged after each rainfall.

Rhine Landscaping gave us the most reasonable price out of five contractors. Our requirements and wishes were fully understood, no unnecessary solutions recommended. The project was prioritized as we experienced issues due to previous patio condition. It was completed quickly and accurately. We are impressed!

Horrible experience trying to get a pool completed from them. Look elsewhere for pools. EDIT: Check the Clarkes whose pool you should have had done a month ago. Youve caused us a lot of stress the past 6 months and Greg has constantly been unresponsive.

I did not want to have to resort to making a review, but it seems that this may be the only way for me to get any response. We contacted Rhine Landscaping for a master plan of our new home around February 2023. Jay came and had a great conversation with us about what we wanted to do with our yard. It was determined that we would definitley benefit from a master plan being drawn up. We paid the fee and were told that a designer, Jackie, would come and do another walthrough to get us started. Jackie came by and discussed our home with us and we were told the plans were forthcoming and that they would be a draft that we could revise before any work would be done. We recieved the first draft on March 17th. We noticed that some items we discussed were missing and/or needed further clarificaton so we sent Jackie our concerns. Since then, we have called, sent emails, called again and months have gone by without a word about our master plan changes nor any discussion of getting started with any work. We finally requested a refund in June because we want to use the money to find another company to actually complete a master plan and have work done. So far we are getting nowhere. I would have appreciated if we were told up front that they were unable or unwilling to work with us. I loved the idea of a family business and thought we were going to get a nice product, but it feels like we have been forgotten. We paid for a master plan of our entire yard and thought we were working towards bringing the plan into fruition. We feel taken advantage of and would just like our money back so that we can start over somewhere else. We can only hope that this will actually result in a response.

Couldnt be more happy with our new pavers installed by Rhine Landscaping. They removed the old concrete - damaged by tree roots - and replaced it with permeable pavers that can be replaced individually if damaged. Especially appreciate the time they took to ensure water drainage away from the house. We had a general idea of what we wanted, but Jay took time to explain options and suggestions. His team with Jose paid amazing attention to detail, appearance, and finish. Honestly, cant imagine better quality work. On time, responsive, professional. Highly recommended.

Jay stopped by to give us an estimate for a drainage issue. Very knowledgeable and helpful. Told us our options and calmed us down a little bit on our water issues. Told us what we need to do to fix it but it wasnt immediately necessary. We will likely be hiring them for this project in the future.

Amazing Company... beautiful work and professional service

Rhine did an excellent job on removal of dead trees and chipping our downed tree branches! The crew worked fast and even took the time to wash the wood dust off our cars after they finished. They took the time to look at other branches on our trees that may fall in the future and took those down. I will definitely use Rhine in the future for other projects.

Reached out for a quote for basement waterproofing and was initally told only that my address was outside of their service area. I live within one of the four counties their website currently lists as servicing (Howard, Carroll, Baltimore, and Montgomery). After questioning their answer, I was told they do not currently service outside 30 minutes of their location due to work load. Even if you reside in the counties that they advertise servicing on their website, if youre outside of 30 minutes of their Sykesville location, they wont even entertain a quote. Its 2021 - a company that cared about transparency and honesty can take a few minutes to update their website to reflect their change in service area.

Jay(?) Rhine showed up, told us to go inside the house to take pictures with his drone and discuss plan and cost. After waiting half an hour, went outside and found him gone. Called the office, and the rep said he already discussed and provided estimate. Still no estimate.

Rhine landscaping did a phenomenal job with our backyard renovation. They came up with a plan to address our water drainage issues, designed a beautiful patio, removed a dead tree, and installed all new sod. Despite some delays with our pavers (not a fault of Rhine, an issue with supply due to covid), they were able to complete the project in a timely and thorough manner. Our yard looks beautiful and every worker we have come into contact with has been incredibly professional and meticulous in their work. We are very impressed. These guys really know what they are doing and their workmanship is outstanding.

Rhine landscaping designed and built a patio arrangement for us and we had a pergola installed on it. The work Rhine did was excellent. The design was excellent and the workmanship during all phases of the installation were excellent. They cleaned up each day before leaving so the area looked pleasing even though you could see construction was ongoing. The people work on the job were very friendly and were willing to answer any questions we had during the different phases of the construction. I contacted Rhine about obtaining a landscaping quote. When trying to schedule the consult, I simply asked if they had weekend hours available. They wrote back saying they did not and We thank you for your consideration and wish you the best of everything. Basically conversation over. They were polite but it seemed extremely odd to dismiss a possible client after one question about scheduling. Moving on to another company.

I found Jay Rhine to be very professional and thorough in his assessment of the situation and very fair in his estimate. The work was done quickly and efficiently. The scope of work and pricing was a little vague and resulted in some discussion and modification of scope during the course of work. The work crews were pleasant and worked hard. The finished project required some review and additional work. The Rhine folks were responsive.

We had a swale constructed to control water runoff. Underground PVC was also installed to control water from downspouts. Had large back bed replanted with new shrubs and mulch.Job was done correctly and per the contract. They started the job as promised and remained on site until finished. Very helpful and responsive staff. Job was done last Spring and no more problems with runoff.

Rhine Landscaping put in a patio for us last year. We worked on the design and coordinated everything thru Jackie! She was great! Easy to work with, very professional, very polite and very responsive! She was out several times to monitor the job and view the finished project. There were a few minor problems with some column caps being put on crooked but Rhine responded immediately and corrected the problem! They have also gone above and beyond with repairing the lawn that was torn up due to the bobcat used to assist in the construction of the patio. All in all we are VERY pleased with our new patio and hope to enjoy it for years to come! Thanks to Rhine Landscaping, especially thanks to Jackie!

Horrible. Incompetence. Did irreparable damage. Crew was unsupervised and inexperienced. Jay who spoke to us to arrange the fall clean up has yet to answer our complaint. Richard was crew supervisor. Didn t even cut back decorative grasses correctly. Never mind completely ignoring plan and killing 20 year old hydrangeas.

Rhine Landscaping solved a significant flooding problem that we have had at our home in Columbia for many years by putting in 7 inlets connected to a 6 inch main that empties into the back of the storm drain at the street. The major job was completed in just two long days by an industrious crew of 6 or 7 digging by hand. Tree roots were protected and all plants were replanted. Weve had several heavy rainfalls recently and no flooding. The system works perfectly! Thanks Rhine!

Rhine replaced a previous contractors stonework. The old stone needed to be jack hammered off, the wall was then parged, and the new stone was applied. The workers arrived on time, performed maticulous work and cleaned the area every day. I am extremely happy with the final result.

Rhine Landscaping is an excellent company that stands by their work. We live in a neighborhood that uses a dry grass swale storm management system (well, septic, no storm drains). Over the years we had a lot of sediment build up so we contacted Rhine to have this area of our property regraded and we also had Rhine spread top soil and seed in other areas. The weather was not ideal this year, a lot of heavy rain prevented the work earlier in the spring and finally in May they were able to come in and do the work. Grass sprouted and everything looked good but we had a very hot and dry June and July. No matter how much watering, newly seeded fescue does not hold up well in a very hot and dry summer. Near the end of the repaired area there was also little more settlement than expected and that area wasnt draining well in heavy rain. I contacted Rhine and told them about this issue, Jay told me to send him an email September 1st and they would come out and rectify the issue. On Sept. 1st I sent Rhine an email and they followed through on the their promise to come out and repair the area in question. More importantly, they went above and beyond just repairing the one area that had settled at the end of the swale. They actually regraded the entire area again and extended it by about 20 to assure a proper continuous grade and they reseeded the entire. We just expected Rhine to focus on the problem area that had settle. A special thanks to Alvaro and the team did the work, they were very professional and friendly. I gave the guys a tip, I hope it was enough to buy a good lunch and a beer. You can trust Rhine, they do excellent work and more importantly, they stand by their work. Regards, Mark and Amy

We are very satisfied with the quality and value of Rhine Landscaping s work. We had many garden beds edged, weeded and mulched as well as having old stumps and yard waste removed. Additionally they installed rocks under our decking eliminating the mud pit that was there for years. The price was competitive and the crew was neat and professional. We had an incredible experience with Jay and Rhine Landscaping. Our lovely and private property was the reason we purchased 30 years ago and we have been improving each year. We were experiencing water issues and asked Rhine for guidance. This evolved into a demolition of our wood deck, water abatement and the building of a magnificent slate patio. The artisans who did the stone and slate work were amazing. The workmanship was beautiful and the water issue was contained.

I have contracted with Rhine for two fairly significant landscaping projects over the last few years. In each case the work was completed as planned. My wife and I called Rhine to get an estimate for building a large retaining wall at our house. Jay (the owner) promptly came to our house and discussed our options and worked very closely with us to come up with a design. We loved the plan so we decided to hire Rhine to do the wall. The entire process from start to finish was exceptional. Every single person we worked with in the company was very courteous, respectful and extremely hard working. At every step of the way they made sure we got exactly what we wanted and were more than willing to make adjustments to meet our needs and desires. The wall they built was exactly what we asked for and was built so well that I am convinced it will be around well beyond my lifetime. The crew that was there each day was amazing and took great pride in their work and always kept things in order. My wife and I were chatting the other day and were saying Man Rhine did such a great job I wonder what else they could do to make our house look nicer, I bet they could really transform other parts of our yard into something just as nice as the wall. I am writing this review almost one year after Rhine Landscaping finished their work on my yard and I am as pleased today as I was then. I am grateful to Greg and the Rhine team for solving the multiple landscaping issues I had this time last year drainage, need for privacy screening, dying trees and shrubs, and an ugly spot of my lawn where grass refused to grow. Greg created a landscape design that included beautiful and hardy trees and shrubs appropriate for my partially shaded yard and screening, buried pipes and drains to divert storm water from my lawn, and a stunning small patio surrounded by river rocks. I was highly impressed not only with Greg, but with the crew that transformed my yard. The crew manager was very experienced and skilled and did a great job of managing his team and finishing the job on time. Everyone I encountered at Rhine was courteous and went out of their way to make me happy. I cannot say enough positive things about Rhine.

After dealing with drainage problems around the back and side of our house, we decided after much research to contact Rhine landscaping. Jay provided insight and a plan for moving water away from the house via a drainage system. We decided to proceed with the contract. I was not home during the work but Jay took pictures and kept in touch with me via text. The crew did an excellent job with the installation. We were expecting the work that was stated in the contract. Rhine Landscaping went above and beyond the contract for example trimming Daylilies, seeding the grounds, adding more soil around a pine tree where the ground was eroding, creating a border and mulching around current landscape and staking a couple of young trees. We were floored when we observed the results. We thought we were paying for a drainage system that was going to solve a basement water issue and a bit depressed about having to pay for something that wasnt visually pleasant. We were extremely happy with the results since we solved the water issue and have beautiful landscaping to boot. We will be calling Rhine in the future for other projects as well as recommending them to others..

In spite of all the rainy weather, Jays team completed a paver pad project under our deck on schedule - it looks great! They did an excellent job trimming bushes and plants in our gardens as well. We were so pleased with the Rhine Landscaping work that I asked Jay to provide a proposal for tree trimming/removal. He provided incredibly helpful advice on the plan forward. Well have him back in the Spring! Jay is very knowledgeable, quite candid and offers a fair price - exactly what you want from a businessperson!! I enthusiastically recommend Rhine Landscaping! We hired Jay/Rhine to do drainage work in our yard. The work was extensive and required a trench to be run down the side of the house to the street. This connected into our sump pump and three downspouts. The trench continued around the back and ended in a small well/catch with a grate on top. The crew than installed a new level retaining system around the back of our playground to channel water around and to the well/catch. Lastly, the fixed a retaining wall that had fallen down. This work occurred over a two day period. The crew, led by Javier, was extremely professional and took time to answer our questions as they came up. They cleaned up as they went and relaid the grass they dug up or put down sod. We are extremely happy with the work and highly recommend them to anyone who is having water issues. I will definitely use them again in the future if I need any additional work done. Thank you Jay, Javier and crew!

Rhine Landscaping worked efficiently to accomplish my smallish job of walkway repair and backyard water management. The front walk is beautiful and will last for dozens of years! The owner, Jay Rhine, checked the work-site when it was raining to ensure the water was headed in the correct direction to alleviate future water back up. Great customer service by all the employees I encountered: owner, office staff, foreman, and laborers.

After seeing Rhines tree guys all over my neighborhood after the last big storm I made a mental note to call them the next time I had tree work to be done. A couple of months later, I called and Audra Wardle responded with an estimate the next day. Their price was very competitive with my other estimates but it was Audras professionalism and service orientated attitude that won them the job. Their crews removed two very large pine trees that were in dangerously close proximity to our home, I hated to think what could have happened if the next storm were to bring even one of them down. Not only did they safely take them both down but they also removed the stumps and made it look like the trees had never even been there. Ive had several trees and stumps removed in the last 21 years weve lived here but NEVER by a company that takes this much pride in their work. In the spring of 2016, we had a sunroom and a new deck added to the back of our home. The builder had the deck stairs ending in one of the areas that water flowed through our back yard. It was not ideal. One year ago, we had a record rainfall in Ellicott City. While our home is not in the path of the river, it is at the bottom of a hill. For whatever reason, our builder put a basement window in the uphill side of our home. After big rains and blizzards melts, we would have to try to redirect the water from our basement window well. The night of the Ellicott City storm, there were three of us working very hard trying to keep water out of our basement. Two of us were outside in the torrential rain and one was inside with a ShopVac. That night, we decided enough is enough! We called Rhine and asked for a quote to redirect the water from our home s foundation, to build a patio to wrap around our new deck and to landscape the area around the sunroom and patio. Jay Rhine came out and immediately offered solutions. In no time, we had a plan that would beautifully complete the deck, and provide the water abatement that we needed. We gave Jay and his crew the go ahead to make our backyard a paradise versus a problem. His team worked straight through Labor Day weekend and the finished product exceeded our expectations. The patio is now well used, the plantings are perfect, and the drains have done their job. We ll never have to worry about water in our basement again. My wife and I hired Rhine Landscaping to make better use of our small backyard. We found the entire process to be very professional and focused on the customer. The team was very accommodating as we realized some changes were needed to the plans to match our vision for the project. We went from a difficult to mow, muddy slope of a back yard to a beautiful, maintenance-free entertaining space. Everyone who visits compliments their work; its absolutely stunning.

Rhine did an awesome job installing a simple patio at my home in Monrovia, MD. I ended up having someone else install the stairs, but the patio work was installed quickly (one weekend!) and very high quality work. Greg met me at the house and quickly came up with several phased designs that could be implemented over time. Everyone was very professional and friendly. They did excellent work, and worked with us to fit into the budget we had. They even performed work above and beyond to ensure that we were satisfied customers. Cant imagine using anyone else in the future.

My project consisted of applying pavers to the front porch and adding a patio in the rear. The first contractor was a recommendation from a neighbor. That contractor abandoned the job after miscalculating the step risers and laying concrete that never cured properly. The second contractor (MHIC licensed and recommended by the paver supply house) abandoned the project after I noticed concrete sidewalk beginning to crumble after a few months and asked for an examination of the work. He had also laid a paver driveway that appears to have buckled in less than a year. The final straw was that the second contractor no-showed for the rear patio work and for completing the front porch work. With this embarrassing mess I approached the Rhine organization. Jay provided personalized attention to recommending drainage corrections needed to support the intended project work. He worked with us to configure a viable project within our budget, which had been depleted by the two preceding contractors. Next year, we will use Rhine to complete the original goals. Rhine staff work very well together and were helpful with suggestions when I needed to make choices. Rhines remedial work (from the preceding contractors) was well executed and has greatly improved the curb appearance of our house. Where Rhine was not confined by solving earlier contractor problems, their work was excellent in its own right. Depending on a neighbor recommendation failed me; depending on a commercial recommendation with MHIC licensing failed me: I would urge anyone needing landscaping or paver work to consider working with Rhine as a desirable first choice to achieve the desired quality and durability.

**UPDATE** - I originally posted a large complaint list of the work done by RHINE. I spoke with Michelle at their office, and while the original problems should not have occurred, she is working with me to get all the items addressed. The professionalism of Michelle makes up for the mistakes originally posted about. As they, RHINE and Specifically Michelle, continue to work with me Ill post any changes or updates.

Audra was fantastic with Spring clean up and other services at grandmothers Maryland property. We are not there often and she goes above and beyond with every visit . Always doing extra because she takes great pride in her work. You are in good hands if she is on the job !

Rhine landscaping just completed a full renovation of my backyard. Jay is very professional, and he was mindful of my budget. My renovation included landscaping design, planting of trees, spring clean-up, removal of fallen Bradford pear, building a new 15x20 deck, and construction of a 15x23 patio. One year after Rhine Landscaping put in a patio and fireplace in our backyard, we are still thrilled with the work. I dont recall how we connected with Rhine, probably a drive by on one of his signs in someones front yard, but connecting to Rhine Landscaping is a definite win. We had 4-5 steps leading down to a paver patio area that had serious settlement issues, and the steps were slowly but surely sinking. Rhine came up with an excellent design and then worked us into their busy schedule to turn around the solution in less than 30 days. The amount of excavation, movement of concrete and block, and rebuilding, not to mention weeding and mulching all of the gardens, over the period of a little more than two long weekends, in ridiculous heat, was impressive to watch and the results are spectacular. I am thrilled to write a recommendation on behalf of Rhine Landscaping. My husband and I moved into a new home and had our front and side yard landscaping done by another company (McLaughlin Landscaping). The results were not what we had asked for and in less than a year, plants died. We tried several times to reach the owner of the company and, after telling us lie after lie, he stopped returning our calls. We decided to cut our losses and contacted Rhine Landscaping for help. We had heard great things about Rhine Landscaping and they did not disappoint! We first met with Jay and walked through our landscaping repair needs with him. We also needed help with our irrigation and lighting, that had also been work done by the previous company. Jay put us in contact with some amazing people within his company. We worked with Greg on our landscaping designs and Kevin from Aqua Brite for our lighting and Irrigation needs. Greg worked with us to put together a landscaping design that utilized some of our existing plants/shrubs/trees and added the additional type of plants/shrubs/Trees that we had originally hoped for. He was extremely knowledgeable and made great recommendations. Originally, we thought that we would have to scrap all of the work that had been done previously, but Greg was able to work with our current situation and partnered with us on where change may be necessary to get the effect we were looking for. He was right on target!! Additionally, Greg and Kevin worked together to ensure our irrigation was set up correctly for the new landscaping plan and that the lighting was placed in the best position to highlight our home. We could not be more pleased with the outcomes. We had been in a really bad position with our landscaping and any company could have come in and told us we needed to start again, costing us a significant amount of money. I have the utmost of respect for Jay and his team ..Rhine is truly a reputable company! I had Rhine quote to repair a water feature in our yard. I found out they were a licensed arborist and had them handle this for us. They were great. The work team was prompt and courteous. They trimmed 3 medium size Japanese Maples in addition to some flowering cherry trees. They did an excellent job and cleaned up the yard when finished. The manager stopped the next day and walked the yard with me to make sure I was satisfied. I would definitely recommend them for quality and price.
