Wow, is all I can say... I just had the Leaf removal service and I am super impressed with the service, they cleaned and blew the leaves in my 1/3 acre yard in about 20 minutes. I recommend this company/service for anyone needing a very clean yard and saving their back.

8:30 am on Saturday morning and these clowns are using five gas powered leaf blowers to wake up the neighborhood. Absolutely despicable company. Complete disrespect to the community and totally inefficient - three trucks, five gas powered deafening leaf blowers, a truck vac to clear one yard of leafs. Have some respect for yourself and others and NEVER hire these guys.

I have been using Cut Above for a few years now, and have never been disappointed with their excellent customer. They call you back, write you back any way, but you hear. Nowadays thats a reason for anyone to use this company. Just recently they did a huge job on my side yard, an all day job, removing bushes, all kinds of plants, plus then transplanted back some of the perennials I still wanted. They did an excellent job!! I was so pleased, but not surprised they always do their best! Before Cut a Above I had 3 other landscaping contractors, which cut corners, no schedules sent out or call backs. This week a lot of debris (large leaves, grass clippings) were left on lawn. The grass is also not being cut short enough so it looks overgrown in a few days. The edging could also be a bit crisper. Just not up to their usual standards this time.

Like others have stated in unsatisfied reviews, this company does not take care of its customers. To be honest, the quality of the work was good - no complaints. However, even before hiring them, I asked them to please meet me at the property so I could show them the property lines. They did not, and stated a photo of the boundaries would be fine. They proceeded to cut my lawn - and also 3/4th of my neighbors front lawn. This happened twice in a row. I called the office, again asking for someone to please come out so I could show them the property lines. When they finally sent someone out, I showed him clearly where NOT to mow. It was pretty easy to understand, he took photos w/ lines drawn and showed me. Yet again, they came out and mowed 3/4ths of my neighbors front lawn. I had a photo of this to show them. I drew a line and said look where he is, he is to be to the left of the line. I stated that if we couldnt work this out, Id have to go with another company. I showed a picture of their crew mowing the neighbors lawn. Their response? They immediately terminated my contract. THIS IS CUSTOMER SERVICE? Avoid this company, go to someone else who actually cares about their customers. And please do not reply to my post with our crews work unpredictable hours. We all have cell phones. You could have easily met me w/ your crew to see very clearly where NOT to mow. This should have been done before the first appointment. I am choosing a more customer-oriented company. Also - they did this about 5 times, making me look very problematic to my new neighbors. Not appreciated!!!! And again, Ive worked in customer service before - this was pretty easy to remedy. Im sorry Marcio couldnt communicate with your team clearly enough about where not to mow. I had zero complaints about the quality of work, but they refused to stop trespassing upon and mowing a large part of someone elses property.

A Cut Above has been caring for our lawn for several years and we been consistently pleased with their services. They keep our grass cut, do the mulching and trimming, provide leaf raking and removal - do everything necessary to keep our yard looking fresh and inviting. They are always quick to provide additional services if necessary like opening gutter downspouts, blowing wind borne debris from the deck and stairs, or re-stacking a fallen stone for a retaining wall. The office staff are easy to contact and quick to respond to questions and we always know when services will be provided. I was aware of this company based on the work they do for a neighbor. I decided to use them this year for grass cuts and landscape/garden maintenance. They came in this week (3/2023) and did a bang up job of garden bed clean up that simply got out of control over the past few years. Once I went over the garden beds and my concerns, there was little interaction needed. Saul and his team were professional and thorough in work completion and details to the job. We have used A Cut Above for a couple of years. Recently, I have had to interact with the crews about some issues with my lawn. They have been very responsive and pleasant, and seemingly delight in pleasing the customer. Special shoutout to Gabriel and his partner - they went over and above to make my lawn look nice, even giving me some tips for what I could be doing outside of their regular maintenance work.

Great company with outstanding employees, from the office staff to the teams in the field, with an obvious focus on customer satisfaction. Any concerns are always listened to, discussed and addressed. The team today performed my spring landscaping cleanup and mulching service, along with a separately scheduled landscaping project. The landscaping project involved the removal and replanting of 17 bushes, along with leveling and reseeding a section of my lawn where a tree was removed this past fall. Under the expert leadership of the team lead, Saul, the crew did an amazing job. The work was completed to my total satisfaction and delight. I highly recommend A Cut Above for all your landscaping needs.

Service was extremely poor. Reported to Sam.. She sent me an improvement plan. If service improves per the plan I will continue service, if not I will terminate and request a refund for prepaid service.

Overall very pleased. I would have given 5 stars if these two things were better: the leaf mulch soil additive was supposed to be min 1 but was not, and the shredded mulch was too heavy in some places and just thrown down which covered a lot of small, young plants. But I would definitely use them again.

I was very pleased with my one time flowerbed cleanup and mulching. My flowerbeds were in terrible condition due to a disability which kept us out of the yard due to limited mobility. The crews arrived on time and quickly took care of the yard. It looks like a magazine cover. Truly grateful for their attention to detail. Amazing work and amazing crew!

We have been customers of A Cut Above for many years at our home in Herndon. They do a great job of cutting our grass and applying fertilizer, weed control, and grass seed. Recently we added in their lawn clean up service with mulch and bush trimming. Their services are performed quickly, with perfect clean up afterwards. We like the fact that they email us a few days before each visit so we know when to expect them.

A cut above always does beautiful work. They mulch our property twice a year and cut crack trees and bushes throughout the spring, summer and fall. They have made my life a lot easier.

Editing to a one star. A Cut Above just canceled my service (3/23) with zero notice after making me pay for it all through the winter. That is such a terrible business practice, but I guess I shouldve come to expect it. Editing to a two star. The mowing service damaged my property and didnt even apologize. They just sent me an email stating anything that is touching grass during service is at risk for damage and not covered under our disclaimer which is unfortunate since it would take literally 30 seconds to see that there was something in the grass and alert me to their presence so I could remove it. Original Rating: Ive been a customer of A Cut Above since 2019 when my husband and I figured out we didnt have the time (or the energy) to give our yard the attention it deserved. We started with the mowing service, which is fantastic! Our lawn always looks great, and we never have to worry about it. A Cut Above will email you updates when services are moved due to weather, and always ask if you are satisfied with the service after completion. We also started using their leaf removal service, which was so great we decided to do their spring clean-up service as well. This year they really outdid themselves which drove me to write this review. They have always been very quick to respond to any questions I have and have continued to be a very friendly and professional team. Its such a relief that I dont have to spend my weekends tending to the yard and I can just enjoy it. Thanks guys!

Loudest lawnservice in the area terrorizing the streets at the earliest time of the day. Many other landscaping companies does not make half the sound they do. I do not recommend this company unless you hate your neighbors.

Ive been with A Cut Above for about 5 years now and would recommend them to anyone. The service is top notch and always professional.

Wanted a regularly scheduled lawn maintenance service and went with this company based on their reviews. My only request was to be notified of the teams arrival time so I could clear my dogs from my yard. The company never provided a schedule and repeatedly accessed my yard--despite a sign and locks--to work despite my requests for a timeline. When I brought this up with the company, they cancelled my contract b/c of my wild expectations. Im fine with rescheduling due to weather and didnt really care what day they arrived, I just wanted to have a heads up when so I could make the yard available...that was too much and I was dropped as a client (I cancelled the landscape cleanup service as it was too bloody expensive for the quality of work, they subsequently cancelled my lawn maintenance service b/c I requested schedule updates when they didnt arrive without notice). Chris Korfonta was unable or didnt care to understand the issue and probably shouldnt be handling the customer service for this company, so if you dont have to deal with him maybe your experience will be better. The actual service was so-so, probably not worth the price. I was expecting to have some sort of discussion/walkthrough of the work to be done but that never happened--the crews just showed up and started doing stuff without anyone talking to us about expectations or wants. We have a 1/3 acre property with garden beds and bushes/plants, which were cut back without discussion. Pretty cavalier approach given the $400 we were supposed to pay each month. They left our patio strewn with debris. They were apparently running behind due to rain, which was the regularly used excuse. Im sure that can create issues for a company that works outside but not sure why my level of service must suffer...reschedule to a time when you can do the work properly and keep your customers updated, its not that hard especially if you value customer service like you say on your website. So we started using a significantly cheaper competitor who does good work and sends a text and email when theyre going to be here or if theres a change...simple, and what we wanted, but too much for A Cut Above. Update: I guess Ill be expecting a $550 refund then...? I paid $800 dollars to A Cut Above: $393 for the first month service (which I only received a pruning and mulch application, no lawn mowing) and $407 to make up for the one time cleanup that the service was claimed to be once we terminated our relationship. To call it mutual is an overstatement: I didnt like their lack of communication and they said it wouldnt work because they cant do things like schedule and text or email. I would have loved to have lots of phone calls, emails, etc as that may have cleared up some things. In addition, theyve decided to make a lot of hyperbolic statements in their response: overgrown yard, detailed reports, golf course look (?!)...none of that is true. We never had any contact regarding expectations other than the basics of scheduling...just wanted to know when they would be there. Everything else they said is fabrications. They didnt communicate at all, they didnt provide any kind of information on what they were going to do, they didnt care what we wanted. Maybe they do good work if you dont care when they arrive and never wish to talk to them. For $400 a month, I was expecting more. For the $800 they now have, I would at least expect more than petty lies and insecurity. For the record, we do now pay $250 a month for basic lawn service who provide text messages indicating their arrival time, so were happy. A Cut Above has my $800 but is only concerned about gaslighting former customers...you think theyd be happy but they just seem kinda pathetic now. Id be happy to provide before and after pictures, invoices, and the record of communications with A Cut Above/Chris Korfonta for anyone who is curious about working with them.

A Cut Above is fantastic. We live in a single family home and were with the company for about 8 years. The yard is beautiful, the lawn spectacular. Neighbors moving to the neighborhood often asked who we used. My husband and I are very pleased.

Avoid working with this company unless you like working with people that treat you like garbage. UPDATE AFTER COMMENT: - They called my yard extremely overgrown/run-down property. Its a 2005 custom built single family home on 1/2 acre - that was previously professionally maintained by another yard service company. This was the first cut of the season that I hired them for, but that is an extremely untrue comment. - They said I only contacted 3+ months later, but that was only after they never responded to my emails and just sent me an auto-response cancelling service when I reached out trying to resolve this 3 months ago. Nor did I beg. I politely asked for a refund. - They say I have a history of leaving bad reviews, but this is only the 2nd time Ive ever left a bad review - Im not normally one to complain. Needless to say, their response is the exact reason why you should not work with them.

Providing a store front where I could pay for my service with no questions about what it will cost(clearly advertised prices with extensive descriptions of work performed) or need to go through an estimate was painless and exactly what I was looking for. It also only took me about 60 seconds to complete my purchase. I was promptly contacted about my requested service and informed about my scheduled clean up date. I was given an estimate of when my work would be completed and had several contact points made by A Cut Aboves friendly and attentive staff leading up to my service. When it came time for the yard clean up to be done, a professional crew showed up and performed a clean up and mulching beyond my expectations. The level of detail and effort couldnt be missed. No corners were cut and my yard looked as good as it ever has. Ill definitely turn to A Cut Above for any future jobs I might have.

Hired A Cut Above for landscaping maintenance (e.g. mulching, weeding, trimming). Yard looked amazing afterwards! That was a few weeks ago and it still looks great! I have used this business for a few years and keep going back to them when I need something. The whole team (back office to field) is quick to, answer questions, get the work done, and they do an amazing job! They were the only company that provided a reasonable price for the work when I first found them a few years ago and still to this day! It s in my nature to always get multiple quotes for work because I have been burned by businesses, but not this one. I definitely prefer to not have to call places, so I found it very convenient that I can put in my address and see and order different services priced for the size of my yard through their website! I always get email notices about when I will receive service, if there are weather delays, and when the service has been completed. They have made it very simple which I appreciate. When I had a question about a service I was receiving, I emailed the general address and Chris quickly responded with an answer. I like that when I do need a person, I can easily get an answer. My lawn is one of the finest looking lawns in the neighborhood. A Cut Above provides multiple services to us and each service has left us extremely satisfied. They also stand by their work. Weve had trees planted that struggled through the winter and A Cut Above replaced them right away. We had another tree look sickly and A Cut Above came to assess the health of the tree and brought it back to health in no time. Their lawn maintenance program is also top notch. I contacted A Cut Above in the fall of 2020 to discuss landscaping work. Dave Castleman, the CEO, came out and walked through the yard with us and asked relevant questions in order to design a plan that met our needs. While waiting for spring, I used the handy calculators on their website to shop for other services and signed up for yard cleanup, fertilization, and lawn services. Now that spring has arrived, the crew completed the landscape install and it looks great. I am looking forward to a summer where I can focus on flowers instead of a never ending battle with weeds. The yard will continue to look better as plants grow and the crews make their routine visits. I love that the company uses technology to send out notices of upcoming visits, and the client portal lets me manage my account.

I had used them for several years for a very small yard but they have terminated the contract this month. Their website and portal is easy to use and I like the price transparency. Issues- 2 years in a row they have weeded out all my zinnia seedlings, this spring they majorly trimmed back my Ivy (pics) to mulch a bed. They mow WAY to short, I mean they came this week and most of my yard is cut with a weed wacker so they pretty much guarantees the lawn will die in the heat of summer. They have cut blooming hydrangeas back and the crews really don t know what is appropriate to prune and when. In fairness to the company they are communicative when I bring up issues- I am just getting tired of having issues routinely.

We had A Cut Above redo our entire landscape this Spring. Everything was overgrown and a complete mess, so we removed all the trees and shrubs and had Dave and team come in and replant all new shrubs, trees and ground cover. They also installed some stacked stone walls to define the beds. They did a fantastic job and now that the grass has had time to fill in, the yard is looking great. We also use A Cut Above for our mowing and maintenance services and they do an awesome job of keeping the entire yard looking great. Definitely recommend them. They are great to work with and always strive to accommodate my various requests.

Super easy to schedule, the team works fast as does great work. We had them out to remove mountains of leaves and they worked into the night to finish. Most well run landscaping company I have ever come across. From the leadership to the newest landscaping hands, they are all very knowledgable, and friendly. I left a review three years ago, but today I am editing it because of the follow through we have seen when it comes to quality. We had a hardscape patio, walkways all around the house, and an outdoor kitchen with a pizza oven installed in Winter of 2015/16. The A team installed undergrounds electric and gas pipelines, AV, low voltage cabling, etc. They handled the permits, expediting, and communications with the manufacturers to make sure everything was seamless and smooth. Over the past three+ years there was one small area that settled and when asked about it the owner sent his best guys out to see it and set up a remediation plan. Scheduled the warranty work quickly and the quality exceeded our expectations again. So in the end, if you want the best quality work, a trusted company to work with, and the right people standing behind what they provide, choose A Cut Above!

So when I say they are excellent its because they are...in every possible way! Not only do they do a quality job, they offer a wide range of customizable services, they communicate effectively, perform services on time, and if weather prevents a service they always put you back on the schedule ASAP! I love that I never have to chase them down or babysit them. They just do what they say they are going to do...and honestly its refreshing.

These guys are excellent! They really know what they are doing and understand lawns. I love the ease of signing up for a new service and there is a lot of education online. Their prices are upfront and right on their website. You can sign-up for services online and never have to deal with a home sales pitch. On the other hand, they also will come out for no extra charge to give you an assessment if you need one. Our lawn didnt grow grass....PERIOD. In less than a year, we need our lawn cut on a weekly basis. I think their lawn treatment, although pricey, is WELL WORTH it. My only suggestion, I wish they could provide winter services - maybe snow removal or holiday lighting! They are so reliable and their costs are reasonable that I would trust to add these services, if available, to my plan.

Whan I reached out to A Cut Above I had a thin, drab, and dying lawn. I had tried other services but none of them made my lawn look like a lawn should. A Cut Above changed all that. They came out and made recommendations using organic solutions, including using compost to build up my topsoil to support a thick lawn. I cant thank them enough for making my home and lawn the best in the neighborhood!

In addition, we can easily interact with the company and receive rapid responses. In one case, we had guests coming and requested a previously unscheduled service. The actual yard service is good. No problems there, but it is their communication with their customers that is really excellent. The automated email notices for when service is going to occur is great, but then after every service there is another email requesting feedback about the service. Sam, Dave, and Jon are friendly, professional, and recommend additional services but do not bully you into taking them - they take no for an answer. They send emails alerts when theyll be out, if theres a change (usually due to weather), and once the service is completed. I had A Cut Above handle mulching, cleanup, and sod installation for an end unit town house. The amount of landscaping for this house is pretty substantial and much of it is located on a steep hill. They did an incredible job on everything and are very competitively priced.

A Cut Above Lawn Care in Herndon, Va is a truly remarkable one stop shop for all your lawn care and landscaping needs. Dave and his crew were able to turn our mud pit of a backyard (no exaggeration) into an oasis of lush green lawn with a dry creek. A Cut Above handled the irrigation issues on our sloped back yard, hauled in tons, yes tons of sod and stone, altered the flow of water that was ruining our yard and turned a mess into a dream come true. My wife and I highly recommend A Cut Above and will use them again for future yard work, big or small, they are great!

I am sharing my original review here on Google, only after being harassed by the owner, Dave for 5 months. I posted the following review on Yelp after having a terrible experience with him while trying to request a quote. This apparently ticked him off to no end, because he has emailed me repeatedly in a threatening manner and updated his response to my yelp review five times, each time trying to discredit my review as a fake review because he doesnt pay yelp. Read his other one star reviews, they all say the same thing. He is rude, unprofessional, unapologetic and hostile. He then harasses the people who have negatively reviewed him. I dont know why they have any positive reviews at all. Either the positive reviewers either didnt deal directly with Dave or Dave is bipolor with multiple personalities. Or perhaps he threatens people to remove their bad review. I will not be scared off by this psychopath. Again, here is my Yelp review from 5 months ago that set this guy off to all kinds of crazy... Tried to call and get a quote. They didnt answer, but sent me a text message asking for my information. I asked if they could send someone out to see our new house to give us an estimate on landscaping. I was rejected via text. When I asked why the person was rude and said that is not how they do things. What? You dont want my business because I would like to deal with an actual person? I AM SO CONFUSED. I guess I will take my business elsewhere. SMH. Update: I never refused to give my address. I was snuffed when I asked for availability. No one was even willing to talk to me on the phone. Why would I send someone my address via text message without even knowing if anyone is willing to help us in the time frame we need? Update: Dude, this guy is crazy. He has emailed me multiple times trying to argue with me about this. He has responded to this review at least four times. Every time he is trying to discredit my review and yelp in general. Compared to other estimates this one was the most competitive and we had heard great things from other customers so selecting them was a no-brainer. We have been pleased with the quality of work and professionalism of their staff. They have a nice email notification system in place for upcoming visits and follow-ups after these visits. I called A Cut Above after taking care of our own lawn for 5+ years. Finally the hill in our front yard got the best of us and we decided to see how someone else might do it. we were always concerned with the length of grass that most companies left our neighbors yards, so never wanted to deal with that stress and did it our selves. Could not be happier with the service and quality of work provided by A Cut Above - true professionals from beginning to end. I requested quotes from several companies and while most of them I either A) never heard back from or B) heard from several days (even weeks) after requesting the information, A Cut Above reached out within hours to schedule my consultation. Dave, the owner, came out in person to evaluate the project and discuss solutions. Rather than trying to increase the costs, Dave was actually helping to look for ways to make the project more economical - very refreshing. Dave was able to guide us through what the best steps would be - without his professional input I dont think we would have been nearly as satisfied with the end result. The quote for the work was very reasonable - we accepted and the work was scheduled for within the week - totally seamless. On the day the work was scheduled for, Dave himself came back in the AM with one of his managers to do a final walk-through and confirm what needed to happen with the crew. Work was completed quickly and accurately. After the crew had already left I noticed one small area that had not come out as I had envisioned (note: this was due to me not communicating some specifics - not a result of the work being overlooked) - called Dave to discuss and he had the crew back out to my house IN LESS THAN 1 HOUR - they made the changes and the project was 100% in-line with what we were hoping for. Ultimately, this was a great experience. We couldnt have asked for more from any step of the process - total pros from initial outreach to the quote/consultation process to the final outcome. Companies that are truly customer service oriented are hard to come by these days - when you do find a company that really does have their customers best interests at heart it is a breath of fresh air. We moved to Florida a year ago, but still have our home in Herndon. One of our daughters lives there, but does not have the time or inclination to do lawn work. We hired A Cut Above to provide our landscaping services. Upon every trip home, we find our lawn, bushes and flower beds to be in great condition. The team communicates regularly with updates, always timely and polite. They show up to do the work when they say thy will or communicate any changes in their schedule.
