Used him for 7 years and he does great work.

They do a pretty good job, I ll give them that. I was gone when they finished and my son paid him the total amount. There are a few plants that were in question and they busted a pipe. I have been calling them for over two months they said they d come out, they ll have somebody call me and they never show up. My only suggestion is to make sure you are completely satisfied with your job before you pay them because it seems like they ignore you after that. I would expect that common courtesy is to at least give you a call.

I can t say enough good things about JaPaul. It was a pleasure working with James, Ashley and Dave. Ours was a relatively small job, but we received a lot of attention, and never felt like we were a low priority. They have great ideas, know what they re doing, and they make sure the client is happy. Many thanks to the JaPaul team!

JaPaul Scape recently finished a large project in my backyard and Im overjoyed with the results. From the pergola to the outdoor shower, to the constant communication between James/David and me- I would 100% recommend them to anyone asking.

Shouldn t have so much detail on the side of their truck if they don t want to be noticed. Cut off three cars with no turn signals on Gandy this morning, caused an accident and continued on their way without stopping. All three cars saw you plus additional witnesses- doesn t seem like a reputable company at all.

I am halfway through two large projects with JaPaul and so far, Id rate them a 10! I had my front lawn resodded, & watching his crew remove the old lawn, & install the new sod 2 days later....was incredible. They have quite a system, with everyone doing their job, like a fine piece of machinery. Such back-breaking work, however. I felt like I should run around with Tylenol for everyone!! The yard looks great so far (only one week old) and JaPaul even went above & beyond to assist me in getting a lawn treatment service. My second project half is pavers for the driveway. Am looking forward to the new look. I definitely recommend this company. Estimate is clearly stated, staff is professional, and they respond quickly to assist you.

Great partner in designing and implementing an outdoor vision for our home!! It feels like we doubled the living spoace at our home!

We had Japaul Scape redo our walkway and porch with stone pavers. From the time James came and we described what we needed, he immediately got our vision. Their work was impeccable. We loved it so much that we are having them do another job in our backyard.

The crew did an unbelievable job with my backyard and pool deck. We had a ton to do, and they got it done. I am super happy with the outcome.

We moved here from Minnesota this past May. The previous owner of our new home was elderly and had not been able to take care of yard for many years. The irrigation system was broken, the entire back yard was covered with decorator rock that weeds had grown through, and the entire yard on all sides needed grading. It was in need of a complete re-do. I found JaPaul Scape online and contacted them. David came out to meet with me and assess the yard. He helped me develop a design plan. Once the work began I appreciated that David and James kept me updated on timing. One thing I really appreciated was that JaPaul has their own team of landscape workers and there was a crew supervisor monitoring the work the entire time they were completing my project. The entire team at JaPaul went out of their way to make sure that my project came out perfect. We love the results! Our yard is Beautiful! Thank you James and David.

(Pavers and Landscaping) What impressed my first/foremost was the level of professional and timely communication from both James (the owner) and Lacey (the office manager). James took his time to walk/talk the backyard with us and provided his suggestions not only with a quote, but with personalized renderings/diagrams to help share the vision. His team was fast and efficient in executing both the pavers and the landscaping installation. I have used JaPaul Scape on two separate projects. The first project was a new landscaping project in the front yard, and the second project was a paver install and artificial turf install in the backyard. Working with James and his team at JaPaul was on of the best experiences with a service since moving to Florida many years ago. I wanted a total redo of my landscaping and wanted something very specific and bit unique. James worked with me on 3D plan through several revisions until we had it just perfect including all the specific plants. The crew were friendly, incredibly hard working and professional. We had our entire yard re-sodded, with new flower beds and crushed shell installed. I could not be happier with the results...From quote to completion, they were done in about week...It took only 2 days to remove the current yard and install the new sod and it looks great. Highly recommended...

James and the JaPaul team exceeded my expectations in every way. They gave good advice before we even signed on with them. The quotes were reasonable for cleanout, irrigation re-work and St Augustine sod. We DIY some things but when it comes to lawn, we have had a great experience with this company. They salvaged most of our irrigation system and did what they said they were going to do, when they were going to do it. Id hire them again, and plan to.

They did work close to a year ago down the street and still have not fixed irrigation problems. Every morning the street is flooded in front of the house. At this point I do not think they have plans to fix it.

JaPaul has done a phenomenal job of replacing our condo buildings landscape. The entire process was seamless, from the first time we met James Payne who was one of 3 bidders for this project. The Condo Association supplied the specifications for hardscape, irrigation, thousands of shrubs and sod. We then got a 3-D video version of what the final plan to help us make any unforeseen corrections before the implementation. James also made a few suggestions which saved us money and maintenance. Even with 45 residents coming in and out of the building, JaPaul completed the entire project in half the time anticipated with no complaints from the owners! I am blown away with the complete makeover of my entire property by James at JaPaul Scape. James is a 3rd or 4th generation Floridian all from the St. Pete/Clearwater area. We recently moved from San Diego to the Historical Northeast area of St. Pete. For three months I would walk my dog through numerous blocks and miles all around the Historical NE area. I noticed every 3rd or 4th house had amazing landscaped yards all that had a certain Pizzazz indicating they were all done by the same individual. One of these houses being my neighbor directly across the street. I asked my neighbor who landscaped his yard and did the weekly maintenance and thats when I was referred to JaPaul. After calling James he arrived at my house the very next day. He explained to me his process for designing a custom landscaping plan for me that also would include a 3D video of what my house and yard would look like after he was finished. After two full days at my house with over a dozen workers at a time including irrigation, stone and landscaping specialists I am 100 times more pleased than what I was expecting. His attention to detail is uncanny! I also signed up for JaPauls monthly yard service because once again as I walk through my neighborhood you can tell who uses a cheap yard maintenance company to service one of JaPauls custom designed yard and one serviced by JaPaul. In summary, JaPaul is the best there is in town and his work speaks for itself. I HIGHLY recommend JaPaul for all of your landscaping and maintenance needs. Thank you, James! State of the art landscape design!

James and his staff did a terrific job on our large replace shell yard project. On time and highly professional. Will use again Second project completed 11/10/19 with same 5 star results. Redesigned our front yard and looks great !

Fence and gates installed. Well done and good materials. Removal of old material. They do a custom lattice addition that works great for jasmine. Communication and clean-up could improve a little.

False promises and poor customer service is what you will get if you try to work with this company. James came to our house and listened to the landscaping work we wanted done and took pictures. He said he would do a design and quote and email to us in 3-4 days. Received nothing and called every week for 3 weeks. Each week was given promises to have that week and assurances that he wanted to do the job...which of course never materialized. A complete waste of 3 weeks. This company does NOT deserve your business!

Japaul Scape did a complete landscape renovation for us that exceeded our expectations. We are very happy with the end result as well as the entire process. After meeting with five other landscape companies, I was impressed with the knowledge James has of which plants work well with oaks, shade, other plants, soil, kids and pets. He produced a 3D landscape plan allowing us to see what the plan would actually look like installed. JaPaul excavated our yard, fixed existing drainage and sprinklers, added new drainage and watering systems, planted sod, plants, palm trees and shrubs. Mulch and rock were also placed around all the plants. An unexpected bonus was the beautiful flagstone walkway in the front yard. James was here everyday to ensure the plan was installed by design. His employees were very courteous, hard working, helpful, tidy and very nice. We are very pleased with our beautiful yard and will have Japaul complete some more projects soon.

I can t begin to say enough good things about JaPaul Landscaping. James expertise and around the clock dedication is bar none the best I have come across in the landscaping world. The team onsite and in the office were extremely professional, courteous and downright pleasurable to work with. They even went above and beyond what was quoted when I asked them to leave me an extra yard of rocks for a project I was planning to do in the future. To my surprise I came home and found they had completed that project for me! I would recommend them for any project small or large you have in the future, can t wait for phase two!

We bought a home that needed significant landscape work. We had a cement backyard, gravel, weeds, and a dead tree in the front yard. We met with James in late 2015 and after several discussions he drew up some detailed plans. He had great suggestions about types of plants and trees, layout of the patio, and best grass type. We wanted a fairly simple design and James provided a perfect plan that met our requests. He was very flexible when we decided to modify a few of our wants due to costs. The work started in February 2016 (because of our timeframe) and the installation crew did a fantastic job. They were neat, hard workers, and fast. It is now a year after the landscape installation and it looks beautiful. Many of the neighbors comment that its the best looking yard in the neighborhood. We couldnt be happier with the result. Also, James keeps in contact with us to make sure all of the plants and grass are doing ok. We would highly recommend JaPaulScape Landscape.

We cannot say enough about James and his crews... We had work done last year, trees trimming, lawn and sprinklers... Everything was so professional and great guys who pay attention to details. We are doing another project with more trees, lawn, sprinkler and fence and the first one we are going to is James...

Received a paid design in just a few weeks but never heard back from them again for any follow up to move forward after many attempts to reach them.

I needed a driveway, so I called Japaul and talked to James he came out to look at the job personally after the estimate which was very good he sent his crew out they were very professional and the job turned out excellent one of the best concrete jobs I have seen. If you want a superior job and a fair price call JaPaul they will treat you right.

I would just like to say that JaPaul Scape is amazing, they do their very best to meet and even exceed your expectations. All of their staff is helpful and will do what it takes to get you and the job done to everyones satisfaction. I have had landscaping, tree removal large and small, sprinkler work and much more. I could not be more pleased. Even during the hurricane, they came out within 24 hours and had an enormous tree I lost fully cut down and the stump ground. We had grass installed by JaPaul in the spring. The old grass roots weren t removed and the ground was never tilled. It rained before the install so the ground was like solid rock, filled With old grassroots. I requested different grass in at least some spots that would thrive in our shade areas, but it didn t happen. I was told the holes they left would fill up and even out . They didn t. A good 1/4 of it is dead or dying, especially In the shade areas where a shade grass was requested. Some of it never took/grew. We had 2 lawn services quit on us because the ground was never evened out before the grass went down so it couldn t be cut it with a riding mower without chopping it too short in some areas and being a bumpy ride. When it was all brown/yellow & was dying, we were told it was because it wasn t being sprayed for pests. However, When our pest guy came out, we were told that the grass is dying because the ground was not tilled before laying the sod so the sand is like concrete. Every time I ve emailed or spoken with them it s something else that s our fault. However, 2 pest services and 3 lawn services have ALL told us that the issues are from a bad sod installation.

James and Pat and their crew were simply amazing! They came out in the middle of a tropical storm and took down a huge tree that was in danger of falling. They handled it when other crews would not do the job. I cannot recommend them enough as they are the consummate professionals who show up on time and bring big time equipment to handle it all. I will be using them from now on for all my landscaping and related work!

When you ask James Paul a question you get a thoughtful answer. I had many questions about how to bring my front garden back to health and beauty. I wanted something that I could manage, and plant with seasonal color (annuals, perennials), and I wanted to keep the year-round tropicals which frame the house in good shape. The resulting landscape design is beautiful, and I will be able to have my seasonal gardening fun, without the headache of marathon weed pulling. JaPauls team of workers is amazing. They work hard. But they maintain a good sense of design and plant health, that creates an exceptional look. I will continue to have the service of JaPaul Scape as I enjoy my new front garden. Let me start off my saying that James is one of those rare guys that is still around who is in every sense of the word a True Professional!. Last year 2014 around March, I had sod put in my yard by James and his crew. Unfortunately the company that I hired to spray the yard and keep it green failed to do so resulting in the yard turning brown. I had kept in communication with James during this time and shared my frustration. Not only did James respond every time I would call or email him right away, but after the yard did not seem like it was getting any better, he agreed to replace my yard. I have never in my life found a company or man who is as kind and honest as James. If he says he will be there that day, he means it. He is a true professional and his crew do a great work. I recommend JaPaul Landscapes to all of my family in friends and will continue to for years to come. Rarely do you get the feeling of being able to completely trust somebody when it comes to the world of service and contract professions. James at JaPaul is one of the few that make you feel like you are getting the best advice and service possible while being conscious of the value you want when designing and working with your landscaping. My wife and I are do-it-yourselfers yet some things you just need the experience and professional labor to get those bigger jobs designed smartly and executed. JaPaul is our guy and always will be. I would recommend him to anybody without hesitation.

14 February 2015 After maintaining our own yard for 25 years, we decided that it was time to start over and turn it over to a landscape professional. We asked our lawn equipment provider, whom we had used since moving here, for his recommendations. He gave us a list of four names and told us that we would really like JaPaul. We called JaPaul Scape and arranged for a meeting at our house. James Payne arrived on time, cleanly dressed and properly attired for the occasion. He presented himself by telling us about his education and experience as it related to landscaping. We shared our objectives and thoughts about the existing conditions as well as possible solutions before walking around the house. During the walking tour, James took photographs, made notes and discussed his observations and thoughts with us. He answered all of our questions and did not try to rush us. He told us that it would take about three weeks to respond to us because of his prior obligations. We felt comfortable with the first meeting. At our second meeting, he presented us with a large scale drawing of our lot, house, driveway, walk, and the proposed landscaping. He also gave us a detailed, itemized list of the recommended plants, including they quantity and unit price of each. The list also detailed irrigation and structural modifications. His presentation included a laptop computer presentation of pictures of the selected plants and possible alternatives so that we would know what they would look like. We again walked around the house and he reviewed each item in detail and why he thought that each would be a good choice for us. Based upon our past 25 years of experience with Florida landscapers, we were somewhat skeptical even though we were very impressed by his presentation. Also, the project as presented would be relatively expensive due to the extensive scope. We decided to go ahead with the project as presented. The work was started when agreed upon. The employees were properly dressed for the tasks required, knowledgeable, skilled, professional, polite and considerate. The job was completed within a reasonable time. No additional cleanup was required when they were finished. The final results are outstanding. Neighbors who normally walk by without speaking, stopped to comment favorably on the new landscaping. We are thrilled with the results and have contracted JaPaul Scape to provide periodic maintenance.

James and his team are really incredible. You can have 100% confidence that they will exceed your expectations and perform services at a very reasonable price. What took them a few hours to do would have taken me days to complete on my own (and it wouldnt have looked nearly as good). If you are considering anything related to landscaping, look no further.

Recently had new sod installed in front yard and working with James and his crew was great. From the beginning he communicated proactively with status updates so no wondering when something was going to happen etc. Everything underground was marked ahead of the installation to avoid broken utilities etc. Installation went great and sod looks excellent. You wont be disappointed with this operation.

Japaul has been providing me with excellent lawn and landscaping care for over two years. James is a great guy and they do an awesome job. They are more expensive than an average service. However, Ive never considered changing back. They know what to do, and take care of it. If you value your time and want an excellent job on every service, these are the guys.

This company does NOT SERVE anywhere in Pinellas except, west of 275 and mainly on the beaches. They do not state any such limitation on their website. Such carelessness is unprofessional.
