Review for Lawn Starters: I had an extremely disappointing experience with Lawn Starters that I feel compelled to share so others can be aware of their poor business practices. While performing lawn care services at my property, their worker damaged critical electrical infrastructure by knocking down the electrical wires connected to a transformer in my backyard. This reckless mistake not only caused a small electrical fire but also cut off power to the entire block for 45 minutes. Even more concerning, the worker attempted to leave the scene without notifying anyone. He only stayed because the homeowner returned and caught him in the act. When confronted, the worker admitted he didn’t know what to do and was planning to just leave without reporting the damage. Afterward, dealing with Lawn Starters' customer service was **an absolute nightmare**. Despite being fully aware of the damages caused by their employee, they **refused to take full responsibility**. They initially tried to force me to go through the person listed on the account, not the homeowner, wasting valuable time. When they finally agreed to discuss payment, they only offered to cover **half of the repair costs**. It wasn’t until I threatened legal action that they promised to pay the full amount. But it didn’t end there. After I completed the forms they sent to finalize the reimbursement, the company suddenly **stopped responding**. When I followed up, they claimed they **never sent the payment agreement email**, even though I have the email as proof. Their pattern of avoidance, delay tactics, and dishonesty is shameful and unethical. I strongly urge anyone considering Lawn Starters for lawn care to rethink their decision. Accidents can happen, but how a company handles those accidents speaks volumes. Lawn Starters has shown they are not trustworthy, not transparent, and will avoid taking responsibility at all costs. The first treatment never happened. I complained and was basically treated as a liar. I tried to move one application to the following week. They told me I have to give a 48 hr notice but the grass cutters car broke down once and delayed me that day. I canceled lawn treatment a week ahead, they still treated and charged my card after I had already call the day they treated and they promised me they wouldn't charge my card and they did. I have no money for food this week. Their customer service is horrible and and no attempts to keep you as a customer.
If I could give them a zero I would. The apparent Pro that they sent out was not a pro at all because they didn't do what they were supposed to do. I asked for a cut, to weed eat and get rid of the weeds along our fence and by the front of our house and he did none of those! The cut look like a 5-year-old did it. I called this morning told them I want to cancel totally and they said there is a three cut minimum, but I am the customer and I am not happy I want to cancel!!!
I’ve had two providers respond that they would take care of my lawn. I chose the first one and he did not show up as promised. I then chose the second provider and he did not show up as promised. My friendly neighbors ended up cutting my yard for me. What I thought was going to be an easy process through. LawnStarter ended up being a headache.
They are constantly late on appointments. Last spring and summer I was delayed/rescheduled several times but didn't raise much of an issue about it, I just rolled with it. Fast forward to now, I had my first mow of the season scheduled for the 23rd/24th, and once again, it was delayed. Grass was cut on the 25th which is fine but they charged me double for a long grass fee. Seems to me to be adding insult to injury if you're not only delaying my appointment for the umpteenth time since I've had your service but also charging me double for the privilege ($100 for one mow and the crew was here for about half an hour). That was the final straw. I almost never leave bad reviews for anything but I'm done with these guys.
I hired LawnStarter to do my lawn, it was supposed to cost $19 for the first mowing. The person they sent came out at around 5:00 on a Wednesday but was gone by 6:00 after bringing his children with him. They did hardly any thing in my yard. The next day same thing, brought his sons with him and had them mow the easement, he pulled a few weeds in my flower area and proceeded to cut down my rise bush and through some of my decorations away that were in my flowers. He said he would be back but called saying he had a family emergency, I did not hear back from him for a few days. By that time I called LawnStarter to cancel my services. They proceeded to take money from my credit card as if services were rendered. They will not refund my money, I have called and emailed several times and sent photos of my yard showing work was not done. I wiuld no recommend them to anyone. They stole my money and will no return it.
I had two mows that were not completed and no way of getting in touch with them but via app with no results but was charged! They claim to complete services they don’t! Do not use this service. They claimed and charged me for the service. Last week no mowing, but charged for it. This week a text and I’m sitting in the livingroom all day and no show, but they said the gave service. Kryptic, I am experiencing the exact same thing with LawnStarter right now! They have continuously delayed the appointments to cut my grass and have also told me that they will have to charge double the amount because of the long grass. I don t see how this is my problem if they can t keep the appointment dates. I ve been with this company a couple years and it has been a great service until now. I called customer service today and they told me that a member of management could not call me back that I would simply have to send an email. This is terrible customer service and unfortunate since I have been a good customer for the last couple years.
I am a provider for LawnStarter and I must say that their support this year for customers and me has been dreadful (as in non-existent). After attempting all other avenues to get support, I messaged the CEO today looking for help and I will update this rating if I actually received any!
This outfit is in the top 3 worst companies I have ever contracted with. The first 2 cuts went off without a hitch and then...nothing. I received emails that stated they needed to reschedule, no show. Next email was they couldnt find the house. Next email was no access. Next email was I had canceled the service because I asked if they were going to cut or not. Oh, and dont bother calling to get a question answered. My first call was 10 minutes on hold the next was 5.

I wont advise anyone going with their services. They dont provide the services themselves, and I called Monday 15th April to schedule for basic lawn mowing. They scheduled me for Wednesday the 17th. However, no one showed up when I called. They rescheduled me for Thursday. Again, no one showed up. They then rescheduled me for the Saturday again. No one showed up, and they rescheduled me for Sunday. By then, I used the app to cancel my service and got someone else. On Monday 22nd April, I got a message from them saying that they skipped my services because it shows my grass didnt need care. Thats because I already had someone mow it on Sunday and after I already canceled my service with them. When I checked my app, it showed they un-cancled my services unknowing to me and rescheduled me for May 6th.

My old crew that Ive used for the past 2 years are no longer available, so this app gave me a new crew- Ryan Gibson. They claimed they couldnt access my backyard, even though I have no gates or fences. When that notification was sent to me, I was at work, so there werent even any cars that could possibly be blocking anything. I messaged that person and asked if they were at the right address. No response. I took pictures of my property and sent those to this new crew as well, asking where the lack of access was. And still, no response. Now, because they lied about my yard being inaccessible, my next service attempt wont be for 2 weeks!! Utterly ridiculous!!
This is not about the employee This is not about the employee. I have FRONT YARD ONLY service. They have been here 3 times. on visit 1 they mowed down all my unbloomed 11 in tall Bachelor Button Flowers and they cut back yard. Visit 2. they cut the back yard again. Visit 3. They AGAIN mowed the back yard but this time my baby blooms were about 6 in tall and now are completely gone. .This company is at fault because they need to have a system where the details are seen and should have them sign or check a box before they can accept the job,PERIOD. I cant imagine the details are where they are in front of their face and yet they choose to do things not on a list. Its usually the opposite. For that reason I blame the Business.All that time I put into preparing the ground and the care to get these to grow this company cares less about. If you have done any hard work near the grass you need to be cut... do it yourself or research your area for a reputable company that does not pay its customers to leave 5 star reviews .
Company has horrible service. They hire lawn maintenance crews that constantly lie about servicing residence. They will reschedule your service appointment without coming to your residence and lie about they had no access. 2nd crew never cut grass but billed me for service that was never done. Its almost impossible to talk with a customer service rep as they do not provide a telephone number. They are hiring crews that are unprofessional and dishonest.

Buyer beware: LawnStarter does not provide mowing/lawn services. Instead, they contract jobs out to lawn crews and serve as the middle man between customers and the people actually doing the work. So, you have to rely on them to get reliable crews that know what theyre doing. Spoiler alert: They dont do a good job at that. Whats worse, theyll turn around and charge you should you need to hire someone else to fix the shoddy work. One of their crews was a no-show and caused me to miss a scheduled mow. By the time they got another crew out to my house, the grass had grown long and they wanted to hit me with a $100 long-grass fee. Never mind that I wasnt the cause of the missed mow, had been a customer for going on two years and was paying for all the other regularly scheduled services theyd recommended. I wasnt neglectful of my yard, but they fined me as if I was the cause of the extra work. Spare yourself the headache. Hire your own lawn crew and ensure the people youre paying are actually providing quality work. And before their customer service can auto-reply about how much theyd love to help fix this issue, I had to go back-and-forth with them for over a week just to explain the issue and learn that they werent willing to fix the mistake. It took a week because their equally shoddy customer service will only reply to you once a day. Stay away! They are not worth it.

I would not recommend this company to anyone. I had a weekly lawn mowing service. They would cancel mows stating the mow wasn t needed without viewing the lawn or consulting me. Then charge a long grass fee inconsistently. I was charged twice for a mow that had not been completed. Once I filed a claim a refund was issued but this should never happen. On the last occasion, they were supposed to send a pro to actually mow but after 10 days of the pro rescheduling I cancelled the service. Do not hire them.

THis is the third season that Ive used LawnStarter Lawn Care Service and Im very happy with them. They keep in touch and follow through with when they tell me they are coming to take care of my lawn. The service is very professional and they do a great job.

By far the worst experience I have had with a lawn service. The person assigned to my yard had a back and forth with my through the chat option. He partially cut my yard and then stated he could not access my yard due to my car being in the driveway. He claimed he knocked on my door, however I was sitting in my living room the entire time. Not only was I charged the full price for getting my grass cut I was also charged for overgrown grass. I DO NOT RECOMMENDED THIS SERVICE
I had this company last year. Guy texted said he was on his way while i was at work (no big deal) within 10 minutes i got alert saying hes done. Im thinking no way because my yard is big. Guy double charged me and didnt even cut the yard. Lawn starter made it right. But they are never on time. This is my 2nd year with them and they have yet to be there on the 2-3 day window they give you. Now this year i start my service back up and they were 4 days late (no big deal) and the next service is april 26-27, they have yet to show up and it still shows them coming on the 26-27 and it is now may 1st. I paid my neighbor to cut my yard and message the guy on the app to let him know not to come because i took care of it myself. I have yet to hear back from that guy. This company is nothing but a headache and i recommend not using them. Because their lack of communication and reliability i will be canceling and looking for another company that keeps their word. If i could give this 0 stars i would.
I used this company in 2021 while my husband recovered from surgery. After 3 cuts I quit using them (before the 4th of July). Fast forward to last week, and I get an email that they are restarting my service - even though I never ordered it. I immediately replied not to send anyone. Two days later a young man cut my grass without my permission. He actually was quite polite and apologized. I called their office to complain and was assured there would be no charge. Since then, I ve had two emails and several text messages each day reminding me to update my payment information. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL BUSINESS PRACTICES. 5/3/22 update. After multiple emails and texts I was put in touch with a gentleman from this company named Joey. He was able to take the charge off my account, so hopefully this aggravating saga is at an end

Was scheduled for service. No one ever came out to cut lawn, however I received a message that service was completed and they charged my account. Called the toll free number but they were not helpful at all. This company is a fraud and horrible service. I would NOT recommend.
They had a 5 star. Now it s two. They were fine for the first few week. One week they were later in the week than scheduled because of weather. So they showed up regularly scheduled the next week. The grass didn t really NEED to be mowed, so he came to the door and asked me if I really wanted it done. I thanked him for asking (I figured he would just do it) and said if it was really a choice, then no. Then he got on me for then not paying attention to the day and letting him know through the app that I didn t want it or rescheduling. I apologized and told him I would try to pay more attention. He proceeds to continue that I need to let them know when the ground is too wet or if there s been weather. I mean ok? Seems like something the professional should be able to take care of? But, still fine. Until they marked a service complete AND charged my credit card when no service was completed. I called to get it taken off my CC, and the guy gave me a hard time about not reporting it correctly on the app. He told me they would assign me a new crew and reschedule our service. Great. Our new crew shows up. Has only a riding lawn mower and proceeds to mow our lawn. He left giants tufts of grass all over the yard, didn t mow next to the fence or around our play set. He didn t edge at all, so there are strips of grass all along the fence and landscaping. After inspecting his work and taking photos, I found a giant metal something that had apparently fallen off his mower and he left it in our yard. He also left our gate wide open (I have dogs and children). This is too much work to report and keep track of. Puts all the responsibility on the homeowner and none on the crews and company.

I signed up 10 days ago. I was scheduled for Wednesday May 25th. The first guy said he couldn t do it because of rain (it didn t rain at my house all day). Then LS found a new crew and it was to be cut on Friday-Saturday ..no one showed up. Then they scheduled another crew that would come either Sunday or Monday, you guessed it, No Show! Then I m told a new crew would come Tuesday-Wednesday, only to find out that crew backed out do to scheduling . The gal said she is working on a new crew that would come NEXT Tuesday-Wednesday So now my yard is going to have to go 3Weeks without a cut! WHATEVER YOU DO, AVOID LAWNSTARTER LIKE THE PLAGUE!

Called for yard service. I live in Florida. Tried to get this for my parents house. For two weeks they kept delaying and changing service people. The grass was long when I called. I informed them of this. After two weeks it looks like a jungle and they want $975 to clean it up. Bad service, got texts at midnight or later.

UPDATE! Literally the same day that I posted my previous review a Claims Specialist reached out to me. I m happy to say that a reimbursement check for repairs is being processed, however I still have no plans reopen my account with LawnStarter. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT USE OR TRUST THIS COMPANY!! Many of their 5 star reviewers received or are receiving incentives. A new crew member began cutting my yard without picking up or removing debris first as a result he claims he either bumped my car window with his trimmer or a rock flew up and hit the window and my window busted. After the incident, he did not apologize or help clean up the mess and also left debris all over the back of my home. I filed a property damage claim with LawnStarter and was told that I would not have to pay for service and that their claims department or a manager would reach out to me. It has been well beyond 24 hours and all I have received are automated emails that the claim is being investigated yet no one has contacted me or assessed the damage. Now, I m not receiving the automated messages at all. Although I received an email stating that they were attempting to collect payment for services of which I have no intention on paying for. Now I m stuck with paying $480.00 for repairs and the possibility of seeking legal representation. This is not the first negative experience I ve had with LawnStarter but I attempted to give the company another chance, but this is certainly the last straw. I will also continue sharing my negative experiences with others in hopes that they may avoid the same headaches and horrible customer service.
The first crew never showed up. The second crew did half the job 3 days early and left my gate open do my dogs escaped. When i requested someone come finish they said they would send someone or issue a refund. No one came and I was charged full price. These people are a joke. Dont waste your time or money.

They outsource to local mowers with inadequate equipment and no references. 1st, every person that has came out damaged my grass and my property more and more. 2nd, they charge you no matter if a mower shows up or not. I had a $15 coupon for being referred by a neighbor. I also got a $20 credit for sharing that I used their services on the Nextdoor app. I never got the discounts and they added an additional $5.99 charge for who knows what. They ripped me off. Plus, the Mowers missed a large patch of grass. What makes it worse is I have to use them two more times!!! Worst company ever. Beware!!!
Contracted this company middle of last week under the assumption they would be out today or tomorrow. The crew that was assigned canceled today and forecast shows rain the next few days. Had I known it would not be completed today I could have found numerous other companies. I was impressed by the ability to correspond via app unfortunately it did not work out as I hoped.
I called and spoke with an agent. They got all my credit card information and we made a date to show up. Some guy showed up 6 day too early in a minivan with two young boys to mow. When I told him that he was not suppose to be here until Thursday he said no problem he would be back. We waited all day yesterday and no one showed up. About 4pm we received an email saying they were not coming but someone would be here between Friday and Monday. We have repeatedly called and been put on hold. They offer a call back but again no one has called. We will never attempt to use this company again.
Dont use this service. First, I started signing up in April, but didnt confirm as I needed to think about it. A day later, I guess it auto-finished the sign up, assigned me a day, and a crew was messaging me to fill out the rest of my profile (that I clearly hadnt done because I didnt complete sign up). I had to cancel that, stating Id still use the service when I was ready. I went back in a couple weeks later and scheduled my first service, completing my profile. The day comes, and the schedule changed to sometime in the following two days. No big deal. Those days come, no shows. No notification. Message the crew. Nothing. Schedule doesnt update. Wait another day, send a support request. No answer. Wait two more days. Try to message crew again. Nothing. Tried following up with support two other ways online. Tried calling the office on and off all day today. Endless hold music. Left my number for a call back. Nothing. To top it off, they lock you into three mows. But I cant even get one...so...how does that work? Now I have to figure out another situation, guaranteed to get charged extra for long grass fees, no doubt.
Great concept and I could have been a long term customer. Ive had nothing but issues since signing up. My first mow the crew mowed the wrong lawn and marked my lawn as complete. Had to have them come out and do the correct lawn. The 2nd mow, exactly 2 weeks later, interestingly got marked as being super high grass so I was charged a double fee, even though the grass was the same length as 2 weeks prior. I didnt approve this. I was not notified. Only charged. Seems my crew was just trying to get themselves some extra money. What an extremely flawed system. If youre going to charge me double I should have to approve this. A day before my third mow I get a message that my crew has decided to no longer service my area. So now Im several days past the 2 week mark, my grass is high because of something out of my control and I know they will charge me double again when they finally get someone out here to do it. I emailed customer service and received an extremely unhelpful email that just said youre scheduled today. I should not be charged double when it was out of my control. I would have loved to have been a long term customer but all these experiences left a horrible taste in my mouth.
Not sure if lawn starter has changed owners since 2020 but their method towards doing business in 2021 is disappointing. I have tried and tried to speak a customer service representative for the past four days and my efforts have been unsuccessful neither has anyone called me back. I was billed in advance before the 2nd mow which was scheduled one week out. I suggest that you please shop around before doing business with this company.

Second crew in a row to just not show up or contact me then the company doesn t respond in a timely manor or even keep track if they re completing their assigned jobs on time! It I m supposed to be bound to three cuts before I can cancel. Well they haven t ever showed up since the first one! But I won t lie the first cut was done very well. That s all I can says that s positive. My neighborhood kids were cheaper and more reliable than this company. When they finally showed up on 5/11 they did half of the job and caused damage to my drain lid!

my wife set up this service. i was excited because with my job and hers its not easy to find time to mow the lawn especially since i travel a lot for work. so the day came today for them to mow my lawn. my wife got a notification saying it was finished but, when she arrived at the house not one blade of grass was cut! there was a not in her email that said yard obstruction and that the gate was locked. our gote doesnt lock, its one of those horse shoe shaped latches you easily lift up. and even if that was the case they didnt do my front yard which is not behind a fence. so i tried to call customer service. i could not get anyone. so now im angry because we were charged and didnt receive service. so i looked on here to see reviews, and found responses to bad reviews by an employee named joey. Joey got it fixed and they came back to mow the lawn and credited us 2 mows. 2 weeks later they mowed again but this time they charged us for two yards. It is impossible to get ahold of customer service, you call and your on hold for hours with no answer and you leave a call back number and they never call back. I have a theory its because they have so many complaints they cant handle them all. Dont use this service youll get ripped off and ignored. No one answers when you call customer support. If you leave a message or send an email asking for a call back the average turn around time per their response to my email is 72 hours. Ive never experienced such poor customer service.

I always check reviews on companies prior to requesting their service, I m so sorry I didn t check LawnStarters! I ve had the initial service and no other service! I messaged my crew, no response. How am I supposed to communicate with them if they don t respond. The website and services look pleasing, looks and that s all. Every response it automatic, with an email, but when I signed up, someone called me immediately; since then, I m just another weed in the grass! I wouldn t recommend nor use this company ever again, but I will share my experience with everyone I know.
Super unreliable! Hopefully nobody makes the same mistake I did falling for this scam of a company. Now I know why they require 3 cuts because people always want to leave before then!
Worst business ! worst business ! worst business ! Dont get tricked by the phone line and operators they got behind the phone and talk to you as of they are a reliable and big company. They do not have even crew , they are subcontracting other companies and run their business at they mercy of subcontractors. I wanted to try them and take care of my house without even making an effort, they changed my appointment 4 times because their subcontractors bailed on them and they had no option but to reschedule and find new crew. Communication is very bizarre and unproductive, and responsiveness is below zero. So hard to reach them out and they make you download their BS app and communicate with crews that you dont know if they really even exist, And after so much hustle, they were trying to offer me a check or free lawn services but avoid posting a review, but I definitely wanted to spread the word out and do not fall for this company and dont ever deal with them and save yourself a headache. I wish there was rating below 1 so I could give this company. You will tank me later.

I get compliments every time that Tim takes care of my yard from my neighbors. In all the years that I had another person doing my yard, I never got a compliment.
I had a horrible horrible experience with them. Will not suggest them to anyone at all!! I has crew did not show up and doesn t respond to messages. Called their customer service and they don t provide any answers either. Absolute waste of time. They kept asking me to wait and that they are trying to reach to crew and asked to send them emails and they don t respond back to it. Zero response or accountability from this company. My mowing was delated by almost a week and all they could say is its just five days and said like whats the big deal in that. They said I can t speak to their supervisor and that they will only respond when they start looking at the issue and provided no additional information. They couldn t even give any timeline on when they issue will be resolved, when they can get a new provider and the customer service is horrible. All they will say is we don t know . When questioned about the eta they asked me to go ahead and cancel my service, and they said they can terminate the service if I cant wait. Great way to respond !!!!! So disappointed, please DONOT rely on them !!
John has been so personable and conscientious both times hes taken care of my lawn. He seems to really care about the satisfaction of his customers. And its nice to know I dont have to plan for lawn care...he just appears, and the job is done!
I agree with everything thats been shared. They respond to your initial request, website looks professional. I signed up for weekly grass cutting on April 30th, to date they have only cut my grass 2x! They automatically will go in and cancel a service without communicating with the customer, they do not respond to your messages that are sent. Poor customer service. I should have read the reviews prior to signing up for this mess.
Movers didn t show up, and they didn t even respond to messages AGAIN !!!! When asked the company about the situation, they has no clue as well on why the crew didn t show up. Tried calling to customer service and same response, you can always discontinue if u not happy and nothing was done to resolve the issue. They have reassigned the same crew to finish the job, but no response from the crew again. Totally unreliable. I don t understand why they signup people and duck out saying they dont have crew for mowing. I was trying to reach out to Joey (from comments below) for the past two days and there is no response from him either. Total waste of time and they don t have any internet in resolving the issue. I would have given a 0 rating of that was an option.

Absolutely terrible service. First time mowing they did a half job without trimming or mowing completely. Was refunded some. Next mowing no one showed up and charged. Now a week later I was promised twice someone would be out and guess what. Nobody. Also charged again. Now charged twice without mowing. Also terrible that a business doesn t give you an option to call but use a app.
I have subscribed to this service. I have only had my lawn mowed 2 times. Most of the times they do not have a crew available. I have been charged for 4 lawn mowing services although only receiving service 2 times.

I m not sure how you can get someone out here to mow my lawn through this service. It s easy to set up on the app however actually getting someone out here to mow is like pulling teeth. They say on the app there is an extra charge if your grass grows over 6 inches. I m starting to think they delay on purpose to charge extra. That won t fly with me. Talking to someone on the phone always sounds apologetic however never solves the fact that mowers still don t show up. May have to report to the BBB.
The man that mowed the yard did a good job but he would hardly ever keep the appointment. I could tell that my yard was no priority.
This service is a joke! Had services set up for the following day. I even had an inspection scheduled for an estimate on gutter cleaning, just to get an email at 8:30 that morning saying no one was available in the area. This company is a scam!

This company is unprofessional. When called about why the didn t show up the first time they said i was rescheduled to another week. That week came and they didn t show up and everyday told me i was rescheduled. Extremely unprofessional.
They dont show up when they are supposed to. They dont reply to messages. They trim (cut down)the wrong bushes. Will not return phone calls. So very unhappy with LawnStarters. They tried to make a wrong right and failed badly.
They showed up once and then never again. Impossible to contact. Very disappointed. Not sure why you would spend so much money on an app, and not actually be able to handle the workload that comes with it.

They sent one guy out. He did good for a while and when he could not cut my grass anymore they sent one other person that cut half my yard. When I complained they said he would come out and finish the job. Was a no show. Complained again and the next person said I did not need a cut. Now it had been over 2 weeks since it was last mowed so this was not true. Never could get anyone to cut my grass. After the third week I started looking for someone else.since I wrote this review lawn starter contacted me. Although it had been a month since they last cut it, they are going to come and mow. They said they will not charge me for the mow. At least they are trying to resolve the issue.
The person who mows my lawn is efficient, on time, and does an excellent job! I wish I had found this service earlier! Would definitely recommend to friends & family, as I was referred by mine.
My crew, Tanner, is awesome. He showed up on time and date. He cuts, trims, and blowed clippings off driveway. I have a very large yard and He gets it done in half the time that I could do it. I read some of the negative comments about this company, but , if you get the right crew its all good.
DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS. Absolutely unprofessional, unorganized, and impossible to get a response from. LawnStarter has no way to contact their contractors apart from the app. I was told I would have someone out to my house on a Thursday and needed to be present for the initial visit. Nobody showed up. I called when it was later in the afternoon to check status and they said they would get back to me ASAP... no word hours later, so I called when it was pushing 7, and I had the same response. They told me someone would DEFINITELY be there the next day (Friday.) Same thing. I called multiple times and they were unable to give me an answer as to when or IF someone would even be here. Sometimes we have no call/no show is what one of the representatives told me. Incredible. High school kids are more reliable (and certainly cheaper.) It is now Friday at almost 8 pm and again, nobody has shown up and no calls or updates. I will be reporting this business for fraudulent advertising. I have left a message for a supervisor- I will be shocked if I hear back. To save you all from relying on a business that is quite costly, please look elsewhere. For the money you are paying, you need a reliable professional. This is absolutely not the company. Please learn from mine (and clearly many others ) experience and look elsewhere. So disappointing.

I contacted LS to cut my yard. The first contractor they assigned to my property cancelled my service without any notice. I called to complain and was told that I then had to wait two to three extra days to have my yard cut. I requested that I be notified 24 hours before my service as I will not leave my gate to the backyard unlocked for more that 8 hours while I m away at work. The contacted team decided to cut my front yard today without notifying me so they left my backyard unserviced. I do not deal with children in handling business therefore I expect directions to be followed. I don t mind paying for a service but I feel I m getting the short end of the stick because this service is to be free because of promotions. Your company is failing their interview for my business and any possible referrals I d make encouraging anyone to use Lawn Starters. Horrible first and second impression. Make it right! UPDATE: LS completely disregarded my requirement to contact me the day before service so that I could leave my gate unlocked. You notified me you were coming while you were cutting my front yard this leaving my service incomplete. Your company is unprofessional and I was told I would not receive a long grass fee because the long grass was in my back yard not the front. You never saw long grass and robbed me by charging for long grass that you NEVER CUT. IN THE FUTURE Follow instructions and stop trying to rob people for payment of services you didnt complete. Issue a full refund for the long grass fee you charged after I cancelled the service based on your unprofessional incompetence.

I was told Id have my first mow on the following Monday, but when they scheduled someone he said he was coming Thursday. By the end of the day Thursday he hadnt shown, so I sent him a message and all I got in return was a canned response that said he was having to cancel due to inclement weather. I looked outside. Sunny, dry, temps in the low 80s. Absolutely gorgeous weather. The message also said he wouldnt be coming out for another week. Beyond frustrating.
They started off really good, but then the service got worse and worse.
I had a nice lawn in the spring but now it s dead. I had 5 crews they kept assigning without telling me and they never showed when supposed to. They charged me for services not done. The app would say they cut the lawn, it wasn t, and money was taken out of my account. Many phone calls were made to see what was going on - then a new crew was assigned. Then they wanted to charge a tall grass fee because it was too tall since it was over 3 weeks since the last cutting. I watched them kill my plants in the flower garden with the weed eater. Took out all of the cucumber plants and had grass clippings in my flower garden that completely covered the flowers. The edging is just dirt that that outlines the house and pavers. Ran over a small tree that had a fence around it. Ran over and took out all of it - tree and fence. A blanket of grass clippings that smothered the lawn that took me hours to rake up because I couldn t trust them to fix it. As for reimbursement, the deadline I was given was not attainable due to a starting a new job, having to go out of town, and needing help picking the items from the stores, so I didn t get any monetary reimbursement for plants I planted last year. But I expected no help from them as how this all destruction happened from April to July!! Funny the guy last year didn t kill anything. The neighbors noticed how bad the lawn was looking to the point they asked if I had fired them yet! I have a new company. They come on time, and amazingly there are no clippings covering the flowers. I have so much less work to do now. I would never recommend LawnStarter.

They came to cut my grass on November 1st. I had them scheduled every two weeks. I told the guy, I need grass cutting but will probably use them for leaf removal later. I checked my account, and did not see a debit until over 5 days later. When I called, the guy said he would give my a $20 credit. I said, No. I want a full refund. This was there fault, as it was a week, not two weeks. Rude, customer service.

Let me first say that I have no idea who Jennifer is, it was a Hispanic gentleman who came to the door to check on animals, and he did an excellent job.
Unfortunately this was a service that I wanted to like. First couple lawn mowing services were great they did a great job and were in and out. The issue comes if you hire them for anything else. I scheduled another service with them got the quote agreed to the price and thought nothing of it. The problem is that the crew they sent did a third of the job, left, became unreachable for a week, then once I contacted the company directly they only offer to make minor amends and thats only if I renew my services with them. They also stated that I had not made a complaint about the service they failed to complete while simultaneously not having an option to dispute anything but the low priced mow. In summary it cost me a hundred bucks to find out that I dont like how they do business. Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere.
ALL three agents listened to my requests yet those requests STILL went unaddressed and was NOT relayed verbatim to the either of the contractors who showed up unprepared to complete the work that I requested to have done. Therefore, they ended up leaving which was a waste of their time AND mine.
Do not hire this company! The grass was set to be cut on Friday. They never showed up. The following Monday I asked three times for a supervisor, no one ever called. It wasn t until 5 pm I got an email saying the grass would not be cut for 4-5 days later. Pitiful. Choose another lawn service NOT THIS ONE!

The crew rarely showed up and when they did they never blew the clippings off our hard services or did any edging. They were always in a hurry and completely missed sections of our yard. Customer service tells you what you want to hear but never followed through.
I have had the worst experience have had for my 1st scheduled appointment. Scheduled June 9th however on June 7th, I received a text message saying my services was complete my edges were trimmed and everything was done. No one from the company told me that they were gonna come today to my house while I was away. My front and my back yard has not been mowed, however I have a card on file and I refuse to pay for services that wasnt received. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau because this is fraudulent services that will be charged to my card. They need to make this right this is the worst 1st impression that I have ever had!

First three cuts were great. Crew didnt show up for 4th and when I complained, I was promised someone would be there in 48 hours. After 48 hours, still no show. Never talked to the same person twice in customer service and kept getting promises of someone coming in the next few days. Meanwhile the grass is taller and no clue when someone is coming. Fired!

This service is a RIPOFF. I have utilized them a few times and have not been pleased with any of their services. They claim that the services were completed but only cut the front of the lawn...not sure who would hire a lawn service to only cut the front of their lawn & call it complete. The first time they did not charge full price for the entire property because they did not get to the back of the property but they did charge for the entire property going forward. I suggest you vett your pros before allowing them to sign up with you...integrity & ethical business practices are so important. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND this service to anyone!!!

Very shaky start with this company. Front end customer sales group is decent, but now dealing with their contractors appears to be different. Contractor said he would be here today 9/3 and essentially never showed up. I give him credit he did respond to the text messaging I sent to him, but even then he said he was on his way, but never showed up. Never called or notified me until I reached out to him. I dont like to deal with people who do not keep their word, and so far this contractor has not. I am now told I am the first on his schedule (book) for tomorrow morning. How do I know if thats true? I guess well see. I have complained to the corporate office but it seems they have little recourse or control of their contractors. I guess I will find out tomorrow for chapter 2 of this saga. Pretty terrible way to treat a new customer on the first service call.
The service started well in the spring last year with timely and good quality lawn mowing. By the end of the season last year, the quality was bad and sometimes charging without service. I had to report a couple of times to get things fixed or get the lawn mowing which I was charged for. I tried again this year to get a quote for additional services. The person never contacted me and gave a random quote without even understanding the scope of work.
They do a great job of trimming your head without skimming it to the root this way your lawn always looks full and it covers up any bare spots, trimming is well done around my front plants and the backyard is neat enough for activities now on the new patio set, great company
I joined with the service back on September 4, 2020. It is now almost been three weeks in that one lawn service has showed up to mow my grass. I have called them to verify after the first cancellation that the lawn company would show up which they did not even after verifying with Lawn starter. Then again the same thing happened the third go around. I even called Lawn starter to verify that they will be out for sure after the third cancellation and they assured me that ace company would be out. I come home from work to see yet again my grass still has not been mowed. And all this company can t say is that they are sorry that they are a third-party company. So my thoughts are why even waste your money spending a little extra to have a third-party company hire services for you that can t even make sure that the companies show up to do the work as agreed. Now it makes me even more nervous is that this third-party company and God knows who else has my credit card numbers. This company is a joke. Beware

LawnStarter did a phenomenal job on a yard that was very much in disrepair. They were very fair and forward about pricing. They were very professional very courteous, and went way above and beyond taking care of our yard. I highly recommend them.
Had used them for most of the summer to mow my lawn. They did an OK job, though they never trimmed the grass next to the fence. However, when I went and signed up for leaf removal it was a disaster. First their website spit out a quote of about $100, which I knew had to be way too low, but the site didnt give a lot of options to push it higher and more accurate. A week later when they were scheduled to come I get a message Needs reqoute in the evening. No offer to give me a new quote but the system automatically rescheduled them to come back, so I figured they would give me a quote then. Nope. Same message that evening a week later, so I finally asked the guy to give me one and if he could come back sooner than when the system had rescheduled as it had been two weeks by that point. He said it would be no problem, but never did. In fact, they evidently came again almost a week later as I got another message of Reqoute on the automatic reschedule day. Three weeks of a yard full of leaves, I canceled all services and moved on.
They were fine. Pretty consistent with making sure the crew can come address the lawn. They have an app and you can talk to your crew or support through the app. I had a few issues and support could only help a little bit.. For the most part youre stuck with how good your crew is. If they have to reschedule or just dont answer you, then support tries to reach out to them and its no different. Sometimes you get a great crew for a while. I had some great ones and then randomly I got reassigned, not sure why. Different crews have different quotes for extra services like seeding or leaf cleanup, because they use different equipment. You might get someone with a lot, or just a random guy with a rake and a push mower. Overall its nice to use the app and not have to worry if your crew has issues. Having a middle man can be good, but adds other complications. 3/5 for me.. Not terrible, not great.
Second season with lawnstarter, no problems
Went online to see about mowing prices, received a quote online. Then was text by a number that did not identify as lawn starter until i asked asking about my interest in lawn mowing. I received another message saying someone from the corporate offices would call me give me a quote. I received that call and when I found out there was a $1.99 service charge, I immediately let them know I had a quote that was a bit cheaper and would probably go with them, but that I appreciated their time and would let them know if we decided otherwise. I was then HUNG UP ON. We will for sure not be using them now. I was uncomfortable with the unidentified text and the poor customer service sealed the deal.

As person with disability its very hard or almost not posible to cut my grass.For past 3 years honestly i was trying very hard to find somone who is reliable and not to expensive I had people come and go.Even though Im not picky like lots of other people they would almost always reschedule or leave parts of my yard uncut.so i did not have any luck.This year i decided to try out LawnStarter finally i get perfect cut every two weeks for reasonable price.Kaleen does amazing job and im very happy.I honestly wished i knew about this company sooner.Besides of their good job i also love the idea that i dont have to be home waiting on anybody..So whenever i get doctors appt i can go worry free because i know when i get home beautifull yard will be waiting on me

My LawnStarter Professional is Great his name is Mike I Highly recommend him my lawn had a Rough start this year , It was not looking like the grass I was proud of having each year. My wife sign us up for this service they scheduled for Monday did not show, was then told Tuesday did not show and when we call to find out what time they were coming on Tuesday. we were told they were coming Thursday maybe Friday. This is poor service we looking for another lawn care that will show up when they say.
I was using LawnStarter because my lawn mower broke. The first couple of times it was perfectly fine, then we had to get it bumped up from every 2 weeks to every week. This is when things went downhill. The price stayed the same and the lawn care provider stopped caring about my belongings. He kept throwing my yard stuff around. Once, he piled the hose at our porch steps so we had to jump over them to go out the back. To top it off, they have never answered the phone. I had to do everything on their app.
Experience has been great. Service as expected. Exceptional job on lawn. Professional and polite.

Unfortunately, we had a very negative experience with this company. It started with our first mow- they were advertising a price of $20 for your first mow, but we had let our grass get long, so they said it would cost $100. We decided to go ahead and do it, but it turned out that they were charging us $100 on top of the $20 promotion on top of other hidden fees. The total price came out to $155 for ONE SINGLE MOW. Additionally, the person who mowed our lawn left random patches of grass untouched. We still decided to give them another chance. Everything was going fine until we had been using the service for about two and a half months. The person who was supposed to cut our grass emailed us letting us know that he needed to reschedule for a later date. This would have been no problem, except for the fact that we were then charged DOUBLE our normal price for having grass taller than 6 inches. This was incredibly difficult for me to believe considering that we had been on a consistent mow schedule for over two months. And even if our grass had been long, it was their fault for pushing our service back. We tried many different times to get in touch with customer service, and when they finally contacted us back, they used language that came off as very condescending. They attached pictures that the mower that morning had sent in. It turns out that he had found a couple of random patches of weeds growing in the yard and decided to use that to double his paycheck. And the company allowed it. Additionally, this same mower left a huge scrape going all the way around our wrap-around driveway. Finally, customer service agreed to refund us only half of the additional fee they charged us. We cancelled immediately after. After my experience, I believe that this company is looking to milk as much money out of people that they can. I would highly recommend looking elsewhere for your lawn care needs.

The first time they sent someone out he did a great job. Then i get an email saying he is now doing a different route and they are sending another crew next time. The second crew that came out did a horrible job. He left patches everywhere and did not weed eat. I called to complain they said they could either have him come back or out give me a $15.00 credit. Why would I want some stranger I just made a complaint about to come back to my house so I took the credit. The third crew that came out did a good job but lawnstarter charged me $18.00 for my grass being too long. I guess they had to get the $15.00 credit back somehow. I will not use them again nor will I recommend them to anyone.
They only will provide service through a credit card. They will take no other type of payment, not cash, not check, not PayPal, not venmo, not electronic transfer, nothing. And they are incredibly rude about it.

All was fine for a while. Then sent a new crew that missed a part of the lawn, when they came back they mowed it down to the dirt. Then LawnStarter sent another crew the next time, they didn t mow incline in back yard that hadn t previously been a problem. This pro (they call the ever changing crew) gave me 7-11 excuses and explanations why he would not mow the incline. I cancelled my account with LawnStarter and disputed their charge to my credit card. Then LawnStarter trespassed on my property to take several pics to send to my credit company claiming I required a clean up service I had not requested or paid for. LawnStarter charge went through. My advice is don t start it, that way LawnStarter can t rip you off. Keep reading, mine is not isolated event where LawnStarter required more money than the quote. Don t do it, higher prices are in your future.
Do not use this service. For the first several weeks of use, everything was great. But the last month has been a nightmare with this company. After I received notice that my service had been completed, I was surprised to see that my lawn had not been cut. I hit the no one showed button and it was rescheduled to the next two days. This happened 3 more times, and no one ever came to cut my lawn. I contacted customer service. I was having a party in my yard that weekend and needed it cut by Sunday morning. I was advised that they fired my previous crew, and a new crew was coming-- but couldnt be there until Monday. Okay, fine. I hired a local guy to cut my lawn. I have a big yard, so to give him a break, I left a portion we werent using unmowed. I thought it might come in handy in case LawnStarter later tried to claim they did in fact mow my lawn. I was right. On the day of my next scheduled mow, I again received notice that the lawn was done. Id been home all day-- no one cut my lawn. I contacted customer service again, and they replied with pictures of my lawn as proof that someone came and cut it. Even in their own pictures, part of my lawn was unmowed (because I left it that way) and theres still toys and chairs in my yard from the party. Somebody came out, took pics, and left. I felt utterly insulted and disgusted. Then I checked my bank account. During this month-long ordeal, I was charged twice-- for two services I did not receive. When I emailed stating I expected a refund, I got no response about it. I canceled service and disputed the charges with my bank. The claim is still ongoing. This incident is abhorrent and this company should he ashamed. Their crews are not trustworthy or held accountable, and their customer service isnt much better. I gave them every chance and got burned. Be safe, buy elsewhere.
I am scheduled for weekly service. Its been nearly 5 weeks since the last cut. Theyve changed crews twice. I still cant get the grass cut.
BEWARE this service would be awesome if it worked the way its supposed to, but you never know if youre gonna get serviced. Out of the 3 scheduled mows, the first one never showed up but kept telling me he was going to, so my lawn got outta control because I trusted them. The second attempt with a new crew showed up and did what they were supposed to do. The third crew marked my lawn complete so they could get paid but didnt do the job and never communicated with me. Terribly unreliable service, maybe even a bit sketchy given the one crew marked the job as being finished without doing the work.
They came on appointed day and did a good job!

LawnStarter is not a professional service at all! They did a POOR job on my yard. They did not survey the yard before jumping on the riding lawnmower to mow. They just mowed. They did not weedeat or show any kind of care or professionalism to what they were doing. On top of that, they were supposed to trim my bushes. They DID NOT touch any of my bushes. I knew that because they were still out of shape and still had cobwebs and old leaves in them from the previous tenants. I would never use them again. I cancelled my services. I also spoke to numerous reps and sent pictures of the job and stressed to them that I was not going to pay for the trimming service but the mowing service only. They kept telling me a supervisor is investigating and will contact me back. I told them do not charge my account until I speak to a Supervisor. They tried charging my account every day. I received an email every day stating I should update my payment information. I called again and reiterated that I do not want my account charged for the trim service because it was not done and asked why a Supervisor has not called me back. And got the same response that they were investigating. It doesnt take long to investigate a job with the technology they have in place and from pictures that are evident they did not do their job. No one ever called and they charged my account for both services at 3 am and caused my account to go into a negative balance.
This app gives Lawn Service Provider a great opportunity to make some real money and build relationships with New clients. Their not perfect as If anyone is! But its definitely worth a try for anyone wanting to Offer yard work or have someone do it for them.

Great app. It has provide me with a steady source of income. As long as you reply quickly to alerts you can get jobs close to another and really make some money. It s a good way to start your own business. And they pay when they are supposed to without any issues or delays. I highly recommend this app.
Extremely disappointed with this service. I am in the process of selling my home and elected to use this service while I was on a deployment with the military. Upon returning from my deployment I kept using the service since all my belongings were locked away in storage(Lawn Mower,Edger). Fast forward to a few weeks ago my home is under contract and the inspector goes out back and highlights all of the siding damage to the home. I submit a claim with LawnStarter and they tell me since it has been more than 5 days since my last service by them they can t be held liable. Are you freaking kidding me ?! They did over 400$ in siding damage and they said unless I have proof they did it they aren t going to reimburse me. I am beyond mad and disappointed with how people are treated in this country. Whatever happened to doing your job correctly?
Crew workers are great but support or management are bad. I got charged twice for a job and they wont refund the $43. A credit of $15 is best they can do. Heres their reason: Because you did not give a poor rating or report it to us within the 5-day dispute window. I am sorry for the inconvenience but that is why I had placed a credit on your account. They are fast, efficent and do a great job. They show up when scheduled and always communicate if they have to reschedule.
We have used lawnstarter most of the year, but took a month off from the service, originally we received great service. However, after returning to lawnstarter service, we have had horrible service. We called to resume cutting service (grass not long), we were sent someone to cut, they drove off and never attempted the job, we called back and were sent another crew who didnt start the job either, meanwhile the grass has grown out quite a bit during this run around, now they want to charge extra for long grass... If the grass would have been cut when we originally called, there wouldnt have been long grass fees. What a way to stick it to the consumer for additional costs.
They do exactly what I ask for. Not pushy at all. This is only my second mow and it looks better than the first one. Good job Lance!!

Started using this service last year and tried them out for their three mow guarantee. The local service providers did a great job with mowing and keeping my lawn looking good. Theyre a bit more expensive than other providers, but theyre professional and take pride in doing a good job and its well worth the money.

Contractor beware you will receive pay for the first few weeks then nothing called lawn starter about issue was told I had to call another number about payroll number was to a survey line this is a scam dont waste your time need customers your better off door knocking plus the customer doesnt have to pay a mark up for the middle man

Upon my initial set up the crew never showed; however as soon as I called customer service they sent a new crew over within days and also gave me a credit. Theyve been wonderful since!
The service is bad. The cut kept getting rescheduled and now my grass is almost a foot tall.
After mowing my lawn 4 times, doing the minimal, and allowing grass next to my house to grow to about 3 feet due to lack of edging, they suddenly don t have a crew for me because they re too busy in my area. If you want a reliable lawn service, don t use LawnStarter. I m going to get a local service that ll actually show up.

Just received my first cut and Albert did awesome! It was a quick and easy to get started. I love the convince of paying online and not having to be home when they complete the service!!! Its nice to have the peace of mind!
I would not recommend this service at all. No one is a pro. they use random people and they can use whatever equipment they have. First guy didn t cut random parts of the yard and was extremely rude when I nicely asked him to finish before he left. So I requested they send someone else the next week. Second guy had a broken foot!!! Nothing against him but a company should not be sending someone with a broken foot to do physical labor! He worked really hard and did a good job BUT... he was scheduled for every Monday and the following week: Monday he told me he d would be here Tuesday. Tuesday he said Wednesday. Wednesday he said Thursday. And Thursday he requested I call him. He said he was going to mark the job complete (so he would get paid and not get fined for rescheduling) and come first thing Saturday morning.... he swore up and down, I won t screw you, I m not that type of person ... no call no show Saturday. I wasn t surprised at all considering he told me he dropped other people because he didn t want to deal with them . I didn t this as a Father s Day gift for my husband and was extremely disappointed that it did not elevate stress, it added some.

Proceed with caution. It appears Lawn Starter sub-contracts the jobs to actual lawn care companies so you never know who you ll get. They also don t tell you there s a 3 cut minimum until you re so deep in the process and committed. Our first 2 cuts were fine. The third one...no so much. We were told the service would be here by 6:00pm. I was home all day and watching for the service because I have a dog and the doggy door needs to be closed while they are here. I didn t leave the house until after 6:00 at which time I left the doggy door open. That evening we received an email stating that they couldn t do the back yard because of a pet, yet they still charged us 3/4 of the price instead of half even though they only did half the job and showed up AFTER the cutoff time. A complaint and dispute have been initiated so hopefully it will be resolved in our favor, but either way were done with this service.

This is my second week with LawnStarter Lawn Care Service. They came recommended on my Nextdoor app. I know that I have made the right decision with them. James has done such a great job. My lawn looks great. He is quick and efficient. He cleans all of the clippings from the sidewalk and driveway. I would definitely recommend James and LawnStarter.
