SavATree in Springfield

I wanted to save my trees, so I needed an arborist to check their health and trim or remove them if they were unhealthy.

Hired SavaTree to prune deadwood out of a a 100 year old 42 DBH Pin Oak. Crew did a fantastic job both in the tree and with clean up. Highly skilled climbers were able to direct smaller stuff to a drop zone and roped larger branches and limbs to the ground. Really nice job. They even provided grass seed to restore areas that took a hit. I would hire them again and highly recommend them.

We had a very large, double trunk oak removed over a 4-day period. Half of the tree was hollow near the base with dead branches overhanging a neighboring property. The tree was situated among other large trees, shrubs, and plants in the back of our property. Pencho and his crew carefully removed the tree without any damage to the surrounding obstacles and left our property spotless. Their work, along with the arborist, Brian Hulse, exceeded our expectations.

Keith Lingenfelter has been the arborist working with us for a number of years. He does a great job! Regularly inspects the yard and takes the time to make good recommendations. Our lawn looks great and our trees are doing well.

Neither our arborist or the invoice indicated we were signing up for a yearly service when we had our tree looked at. This resulted in an unexpected, and unannounced, visit by a SavATree arborist 2 years after the original visit to repeat the treatment on our tree, and cost us $229. It would have been nice to be able to opt-in to this service, rather than be forced to opt-out. We wont be using SavATree again anytime soon.

I have use SavATree services for my trees and shrubs for many years now. I am very pleased with the assessments and guidance given to me by the arborist, and with the care taken by the individuals who come and do Arbor kelp and other treatments. On Wednesday, October9th, the SavATree team, led by Will Benavides did an absolutely outstanding job of trimming, thinning, and shaping the Magnolia. It looks amazing and I am very happy with the result. Will and the team also removed a number of dead branches from an oak tree in the backyard and expertly trimmed a camellia bush in tbe yard. He explained what he was doing and why throughout the process. Will and the team also did a wonderful job of cleaning up the yard before they left. I would give them an A+ for their work and for their customer service.

Keith at the Springfield location is so helpful and does a great job educating us on our plants and any health issues. He did not give me the run around Ive received from other companies. While one tree will require action from Dominion, we developed a plan to take care of the other trees and shrubs. The price was reasonable too. I now know my go to business to help me manage the yard.

We moved into a home with very many neglected trees and shrubs and Adrien was able to provide a comprehensive, thorough plan that was reasonably priced. SavATree has taken care of my shrubs for many years. I recently requested their arborist to evaluate the maple tree in my back yard. The tree showed signs of disease. It was determined that the tree was in danger of splitting vertically and falling. They came in and safely removed the tree. The workmen were careful and methodical in cutting and removing the branches and trunks. They were mindful of the surrounding structures near the tree. Although I miss the shade from that tree, I am grateful for the expert advice and safe removal of this diseased tree. We were extremely pleased with our tree trimming experience with SavATree. We are gardeners ourselves, and tree and shrub care is something we take very seriously, though were not experts at it. The guys who came to trim our trees of dead wood and remove a few small ones encroaching on my fence, were wonderful! Friendly, helpful and efficient. Brian, the Arborist, and his 2 man crew were knowledgeable, careful and efficient. Even though they finished in the rain , they cleaned and hauled away all the small debris and ground up all the big branches and even a medium sized tree trunk! Arborist Keith Lingenfelter is a true professional who listens to the customer and provides outstanding advice and recommendations. The team lead by Jr. is amazing. They do expert work and respect the landscape. Had some trees removed and some limb work done in the middle of a large garden. Jr. and the team left no trace of damage to the plants in the garden. Brian and his team were wonderful to work with. We removed three very large, decaying oak trees. Some in difficult locations with close proximity to our home. While this was a very hard decision to make, Brian made us feel confident about the decision and was incredibly knowledgeable about the health of our trees after inspecting the 15+ large trees on our property. The crew was friendly and careful to protect our property. The clean up and communication each of the 5 days of work was above and beyond. We had a small incident with a branch hitting our gutter, but they repaired promptly even though we weren t concerned about the dents. Everyone worked so hard, and always put safety first, and we are thankful for everything Brian and his dedicated crew did for us.

Jan 2024, Sav A Tree s four man team led by Pencho exceeded my expectations from outstanding to an out of this universe WOW ! These professionals skillfully and without any damage to our home or property removed four (4), ninety foot-plus threatening trees from our backyard. Each tree, if not skillfully and safely removed by Sav A Tree, would have likely fallen on our home in the near future. We now know from peering into the stumps of each tree, there was to be found clear evidence of four dying giants . - On each of the four days that Sav A Tree s pros were at our home, I felt a growing sense of being in good hands based on the time I observed the Sav A Tree team as well as the insights/techniques they willingly shared with me. Brian Hulse and the SavATree crew did a great job removing an enormous Oak that was very close to our neighbors home. This effort required multiple days and heavy equipment. Despite challenging weather, the crew did a fantastic job - no damage to our neighbors home or yard - the site was completely cleaned up before they departed. Sav-a-tree removed a diseased tree which was approximately 100 feet tall. They did a remarkable job, cleaned up beautifully leaving no limbs, branches, or logs, and left all plants surrounding the tree in excellent condition. Nothing was damaged.

We had our cherry tree pruned by SavATree. We are happy that the tree looks natural after the pruning. There seem to be a lot of tree service companies that just hack off the tops of all the branches instead of properly trimming the tree. The SavATree crew also cleaned up all the branches and twigs that came down. We will use SavATree in the future and appreciate a job done right.

I utilized SavATree for some tree and shrub trimming/pruning services. I also had a cherry tree that was leaning pretty badly that they were able to straighten and secure with a rope to hopefully save the tree and reestablish its healthy growth. I had a good experience with Arborist, David Wesley, who was timely, responsive, knowledgeable and straightforward with his assessments. He also personally made the extra effort to make sure I was satisfied with the final results. Overall I would certainly recommend SavATree!

The whole process was easy and professional from calling to having someone come out for an estimate to the actual tree trimming. Brian giving the estimate was on time and took his time to evaluate the work needed to be done. Scheduling the work was no problem on a day I would be available. The crew that did the work was professional and did a great job. Tree was hanging over neighbors driveway and lines going into their house. SavATree did excellent work to clear out an overgrown area on our property line. We had liked the screen of trees, but the trees had started to crowd each other and overly shade the planter below it. Our arborist (Keith Lingenfelter) did an excellent job picking out exactly which trees to remove, prune, or leave alone. The work was done carefully, and without distrubing our neighbor The result was exactly what we had hoped for - a still effective screen, but more orderly and allowing sufficient light to the planter below it. We will certainly use SavATrees services in the future.

Brian has been so knowledgeable about our beautiful maple tree. He has come out to the house several times to answer questions and is helping us save the tree. This is one amazing company. As a longtime homeowner, I have dealt with many different contractors in the Northern Virginia area and I have never had a better experience. The project manager, Brian, was quick to respond to my request for an estimate. Surveyed my entire property, discussed work that needed to be done immediately, and work that could be postponed. Incredibly knowledgeable on all species of trees, and how to maintain them. I was so impressed, I cancelled other estimates I had scheduled and went with Sav-A-Tree. The crew showed up on time and prepared to work. They were all polite, professional, and worked tirelessly. When one of the trees turned out to be unsafe for a standard takedown, Brian immediately brought in additional equipment to handle the job quickly, but most importantly, safely. HOA hired this contractor to trim branches in the subdivision. They climbed this tree near my unit to cut a branch and did not cut the invasive, unsightly vines as well. I hired my own tree service company a few weeks prior and they QUICKLY cut similar vines in my back area with no issue. Also my next door neighbor hired Savatree to service a large oak tree in our front yard and they requested I use them to trim the branches on my side of the property line. The Savatree arborist Brian Hulse was adamant about which branches to trim as opposed to listening to my desires as a customer. I ended the conversation by walking away, and he continued to shout at my back until I walked into my home. Again, hired another tree servicer who immediately addressed my needs without negative commentary.

Although i have never hired Sav a Tree personally, i have from the bleacher seats witnessed several of their corporate Pow Wows! A very diverse team that Loves to mingle after work together. You might think that going the (affordable) cheap route seems practical for you and your money;being Licensed,Bonded, and Insured is worth it to avoid the calamity that occurs with the cheaper fly by night folks. 5 STARS!

As a member of the same community as Michelle N., it is important to clarify errors in her review of SavATree of Springfield, posted on 12-20-2023 First, to my knowledge Michelle N., who is not a member of the governing board of our community association, had no knowledge of the scope of work in their agreement with SavATree. Our association management company assured me the scope of work in the contractual agreement between SavATree and our HOA was followed to the letter. SavATree pruned back tree limbs overlapping roofs and chimneys in a row of homes that backs up to woods with mature hardwoods. The work was done according to the agreed scope, based on recommendations of professional, certified arborists. Where needed, invasive vines were cut at the base of the trees. The SavATree team was prompt, courteous and professional. Second, I am the neighbor referenced in the same review. For several years SavATree tree, through Brian Hulse, has pruned and thinned the large oak at the edge of my front yard, mostly growing on community property, between my house and my neighbor s. Because most of the tree rests on community property I submitted a request to the Homeowners board to be permitted to have the tree pruned this Fall at my expense, according to the arborist recommendations. The proximity of the tree to my home and its substantial overlap of my yard and roof make its health and beauty a worthwhile investment for the value of my home. The arborist recommendations for the trimming included some branches that overlapped Michelle s yard. I invited Michelle to take advantage of the value by her paying for the small percentage of work that included trimming back limbs overreaching her dogwood tree and yard. After letting Michelle know of the proposed trimming, I notified her when Brian was available to discuss the terms with her. I was in my yard within hearing distance when Brian knocked on Michell s door to discuss the proposal. After a few minutes I heard her door slam, but I never heard Brian raise his voice. He calmly informed me she declined to have them do the proposed work. I proceeded with the recommended thinning and trimming, except for the branches over Michelle s property. The SavATree crew was careful to confirm the scope of work with me, they protected the area and plants under the tree, and cleaned up all debris. A few weeks after this trimming was finished, Michelle brought in another tree trimming company. They proceeded to severely cut back to the trunk several large branches, leaving the tree unbalanced, distorting the shape of its canopy, possibly damaging its long-term viability. See attached photo. That crew climbed the tree without permission of the Homeowner s association, without submitting a proposal by a certified arborist, without regard for the health and shape of a recently trimmed and thinned tree. I surmise that if Michelle, N. wanted Brian Hulse and SavATree to drastically cut back limbs that would jeopardize the health of the tree, he would have declined courteously. Brian Hulse and SavATree of Springfield have served my family s arborist needs for several years, keeping the limbs of this great oak back from our roof, and thinning the tree to improve the light reaching our yard and home, all while honoring its integrity, beauty, and health. I listened to his recommendations and learned about best practices in tree care. He always had a laser pointer so it was easy to be sure we were discussing the same branches. In my experience Brian has always been professional, courteous, and cordial. His knowledge of tree care as an arborist and his knowledge of the laws regarding trimming trees that span multiple owners are exceptional. I heartily recommend him and his company. Last year SavATree was able to come to my property and provide trimming services on 4 large trees as well treat a couple of these trees. During the entire process they were courteous and professional. The following year, 2022, I get an email that I owe for a service that had just been performed. I didnt understand why I was getting service or a bill because everything that I had signed up for had been completed. So I called and spoke to a supervisor who explained that the services are considered continuous unless you call/email to cancel. After going over everything they were able to cancel the invoice and schedule a future service call. Im looking forward to working with them again soon.

David Wesley and Chris Rawley gave a wonderful presentation on Arbor Day to our Kindergarten and 1st grade students. They were both so knowledgeable and spoke in terms that were fun and relatable to young children. The students learned so much about trees and how to care for them. We enjoyed seeing some of the equipment they use along with the safety precautions they take when climbing trees. David and Chris were very patient answering all the questions. The highlight was receiving a reusable tote filled with lots of goodies a few favorites were the activity book, and a red maple seedling with instructions on how to plant it. Savatree recently removed a large diseased oak tree from our property. It was a difficult removal, as this tree was in a cramped location near the property line, with several sensitive plants around the trunk and a fish pond nearby. We hired SavATree several years ago to assess our dying maple trees. They recommended a treatment plan and literally saved our trees from being cut down. We had storm damage that severely impacted multiple trees in our yard. SavATree was able to schedule an estimate the next morning for us and remedy our issues within a week. This was our first experience with SavATree of Springfield, and we were very pleased. Our arborist/estimator, Kevin Garone, was a pleasure to work with. Knowledgeable and friendly, he listened to what we wanted and to our concerns/questions, and then devised an appropriate and affordable plan of action. The crew arrived as scheduled and completed all the work professionally, skillfully and courteously. Everything looked great, overall, and the cleanup was perfect. We had a question or two afterward, and Kevin visited promptly and reviewed our questions honestly and clearly. He set up a brief go-back to handle one of the items (which hasnt taken place yet, but we have complete confidence that it will be handled promptly). Overall, it was an excellent first experience with SavATree of Springfield. We signed up for some care/maintenance of a few other trees on our property, which has yet to take place or to be definitively scheduled. I am very pleased with SavATeee. I really liked my old tree service and their arborist. He was very knowledgeable and would avoid taking down a tree unless it was absolutely necessary. But they were not very responsive and communication was poor relying on phone calls. I gave SavATree a try. They have been excellent. The arborist Brian Hulse is every bit as dedicated to avoiding tree removal when possible. And when I discovered a tree came down in my yard this week, Brian was out the same morning to inspect the problem and give me a quote. Within 48 hours the tree was gone. The tree came down on my fence, on top of my wifes vegetable garden, and next to my kids playground. The crew at SavATree took care to remove the tree without any additional damage to my property. SavATree was awesome last week when a tree fell on our house during the wind storm. They were the only tree service that would send someone out that evening to look at the tree/damage. Brian was so helpful and had a crew with a crane ready to remove the tree the next morning. It was a tricky removal and they did it expertly with no more damage to the house, no damage to the patio underneath where the tree was on the house, or the trees/bushes around the house. The crew really worked together to take the tree down in a professional way without creating more damage. Everyone watching in our neighborhood (it was entertainment for the neighborhood) was also very impressed with SavATree. They did a great job cleaning up and even blew the little remnants off our patio, deck, and around the front of the house. And the price was very reasonable considering all that was involved removing the tree. We will be using them in the future for all our tree work.

Keith Lingenfelter came to give a complimentary evaluation of a tree badly damaged by cicadas. He was very professional and very informative. Keith pointed out that the tree was vulnerable to cicada damage because it is stressed and has insect scale and needs root treatment. He gave several recommendations of what we can do to prolong the life of the tree and, hopefully, save it. Although we did not purchase any service at this time I was very impressed with Keiths knowledge and his gracious customer service. He is an excellent representative for SavATree. It would be a company and service I would consider for future issues.

He showed up on time and took his time to evaluate the condition of our trees and shrubs and to plan a treatment program to address the issues we had. This included disease treatment and scale treatment for a number of our shrubs. He is always prompt in response to my calls and emails, and, has provided me consistently with sound professional plant heath and care advice and service. One time, he responded to one of my emails while he was on vacation! Now that is customer service! Assessments - Keith and I walk the property twice a year to go over the overall health of our landscaping and discuss what he recommends for the annual landscape well-being plan. Tree work - When SavATree comes for tree work their performance and clean up has always been performed safely and with excellence. They show up on time, respect the property, and do an amazing job! Tree and Shrub Care plan - We use SavATrees plant health care program proactively to ensure that the landscaping surrounding our property stays healthy with supplemental nutrients and plant pest control. I always get an advance email notifying me of when the treatment has been scheduled. When the treatment(s) are completed, the technician always leaves details in writing on the services performed that day. Sometimes a plant issue/question arises between the biannual assessment visits. I take a picture and send it to Keith via email and he always always always responds immediately! In addition, he will make time for an onsite visit if he needs to come and visually inspect the concerning issue and recommend a treatment plan. Lawn Care - This year beginning in April we added SavATrees custom-tailored lawn care program. Each month our lawn gets a treatment specific to it s weed and fertilization needs. We live in a community with lots of tall trees and have used two other tree services before finding them. Weve been very happy with SavATree. Our arborist comes by a few times a year to walk through the property and identify anything that may need attention, and we pay up front annually for them to take care of our trees. They dont spike or do anything else thats harmful, and they are very responsive. We had a small tree fall against the house during a recent storm, and they managed to squeeze us in between jobs. The crew came and removed the tree in about 15 minutes like they were just plucking a weed. I have no complaints. They are a great service.

Brian Hulse from SavATree was very quick to come out and inspect our dying tree. Then he went a step further and looked at all of our trees for possible other diseases. He found another one that needed to be cut down - Brian showed us the damaging pests and explained how they harm the trees. The tree cutters did a fantastic job and even though these were very tall trees, they did not damaged any of our many shrubs surrounding them. We will use them in the future for other tree trimming as well as proactive treatment to keep them healthy.

Excellent work. Had some trees with very tricky placement over the house and the team expertly cut the branches and never hit a thing. Couldn t even hear the limbs drop. Would highly recommend for all free services. Can t say enough about the quality of work.

We recently had four dead/dying trees removed from our yard, and two other trees pruned. The SavATree crew arrived on the scheduled date and went right to work. I had a few dead limbs removed from two very tall trees, and a stump ground out. They responded quickly to my request for an estimate and were able to preform the work within a few days. The crew was professional and safe. They finished the work quickly and did a fantastic job cleaning up the little mess they made. I will definitely be calling on them in the future.

I was very pleased with the team(s) that came to trim and reduce dead limbs on approximately 10 trees on our property. The initial experience with our arborist - Brian - went great. Brian was timely and very knowledgeable about trees and what could or should be done to improve the health of our trees. He answered all of my many questions, helped prioritize trees that needed to be trimmed, and sent follow up information as requested after our consultation and prior to our tree work. When it came to the actual tree work, we had two trucks come to our house. All of the employees were very friendly, courteous, and fastidious about cleaning up the property (including our driveway, yard, and street in front of our house). In addition, they left a very organized pile of firewood for me (much more organized than i expected, and even cut to appropriate lengths!). In short, I felt like the whole SavATree team far exceeded my expectations throughout the process, and will be using them again in the future!

Early 2018 we had a pine-tree fall onto our patio/back of the house in a strong March storm. I called the insurance early morning, by 9am I had Brian Hulse from SavATree at the house and the tree was gone and everything cleaned up by early afternoon. So when we had a white oak showing distress a few weeks ago there was no hesitation. I emailed Brian, he came by, assessed what could be done and we decided the tree had to come down. The crew came a few days later and they were as efficient and professional as last time. Brian was there to brief them, and by the evening we had another check in to see if everything was going ok, and the tree was gone minus some very nicely cut to size pieces for the neighbors fire place. They also cleaned up another tree and took out a big dead limb threatening the sidewalk on a poplar. Loosing a tree is not a nice experience but at least we were sure that we had a professional crew deal with it and that we didnt have to worry about our or the neighbors house while it was taken down. Highly recommend.

We just used SavATree with our sycamore tree that we thought was dying but their Arborist was excellent and informed us that we could treat it, prune the dead limbs and ultimately save the tree! We also had them clear out our neighbors mulberry tree that is fully extended into our yard. Work was performed in 3 hours and the clean up was great! We would highly recommend this company!

We have used SavATree,s pruning services several times. David Wesley is friendly and low-key and knows a lot about trees. We have followed his guidance in caring for an elm, an oak, a gum tree, a dogwood and our red buds. David has a well-balanced approach and does not recommend work that is not for the benefit of the tree. He answers questions thoughtfully and clearly. The SavATree crew are easy-going, very competent, and clean up thoroughly.

David Wesley brought his crew and instructed them on how the two huge Leyland Cypresses were to be taken down. Along with the cypresses were three mature crape myrtles to be pruned and shaped. The following day, I realized the crape myrtles needed more pruning so I called David. He came without delay, I was surprised to learn that he carried the necessary tools in his van so he could do the work himself, if necessary. He did more pruning meticulously. My husband and I had our very tall silver maple tree trimmed and it looks beautiful. Brian and his men were easy to work with. They listened to our questions and ideas and we couldnt be happier. We thought about cutting the tree down, but are very glad we decided to keep it. and get it under better control. Even the tree looks happier! It has room to breath. We also had a problem with three cherry trees whose roots were growing well into the mulch. The removed the mulch and cut back on the roots. We feel we are in good hands with SavA Tree.

I use SavATree every three years to clean up some very old oak trees. From Arborist to work crew they are as professional as you get. They start with an Arborist who makes an assessment of what needs to be done to the trees. The Arborist then instructs the work crew on the details of the trimming. Very customer oriented, they make sure you are satisfied with their work. Their work sells itself, several neighbors have used them after seeing the quality of their work. Very thorough cleanup when complete. I will continue using them.
