The Grey Barn is Northwest Arkansas’ premier landscaping service provider. We’ve provided some of the region’s best in residential landscape design and landscape installation, as well as helping companies look their best with our commercial landscape installation and commercial landscape maintenance services.
Do fine bare minimum work. Just very unhappy with the fact that when I look outside and see them talking a break (not the issue) but some of the crew members were leaning/laying on my cars. Thats unprofessional.
Yard work and presentation is very important to our family. Every year, our large trees drop an incredible amount of leaves in our yard. I was looking for someone to pick up leaves in the grass and flower beds and then freshen up all of our mulch. Grey Barn was quick to respond and did a fabulous job. I felt the price for the job was just right and I am happy to recommend them for their services.
We thought if we paid a premium price we would get a premium job, but we were mistaken. In retrospect, we shouldn't have accepted the plan which was very ordinary for the huge price tag. Our fault. (More recently, we got a beautiful, creative plan for the front of our house from a different landscape architect for a quarter of the price John charged.) When the crew came to install, I had to stop them while they were planting and ask that they use the soil amendment we had paid for. They put their muddy boots up on our fence and we had to ask them to stop and clean all the mud off the fence. Many of the trees died which was understandable given the drought but we were told by an arborist that most of the trees had also been planted too deep in the soil. So, consequently we are waiting for more trees to die. Needless to say, you don't always get what you pay for.
John designed a beautiful landscape on all 4 sides of our home. We hired Grey Barn to execute the design, build a fire pit, and install irrigation on about 2 acres. They were very professional and worked really hard even during the heat advisory. They had several trucks and 5-10 people on the job every day for weeks. The result was a quick install and a very professional looking completed project. I would highly recommend them especially for larger jobs where other companies might take a long time to complete.
We have a backyard that needed several retaining walls, staircase, landscaping, fire pit, porch renovation, stone stairs leading to the dock, and garden area. We talked with several companies and decided on Grey Barn mostly because John was able to answer our questions and suggest new ideas. They came up with a good plan and then improvised well on that plan as the project proceeded. John's crews are really, really good. They do good work. John or Josh works daily with the crews to make sure all is on task. They all worked closely with us to choose materials, plants, etc. Mostly, I loved the "no drama" aspect of the Grey Barn. John is calm and seems to understand what needs to be done and what we wanted. We were able to talk things through and then the result was better than expected. I would highly recommend the Grey Barn!!
I cannot say enough good things about The Grey Barn. When I reached out to several companies, John was the first to respond, and he responded with detailed information. When I reached out to other companies, I had to contact, leave messages, and continue to follow up to beg for any communication. We ended up deciding to make it a larger project just so we could work with Grey Barn because of the level of professionalism we saw from them. When the team, led by Junior, came to work on our yard, we knew we would be in good hands. Our project manager, Josh, and John came as well and made sure all knew what would be happening. Everyone worked so well together. Junior's team was so respectful and thorough and still always had a smile or quick wave for us even in the heat! I really could not believe how great it looked at the end of the project. I thought our lawn would be torn up from the heavy machinery, and it wasn't. They didn't have to take our fence out or re-sod the yard as I was worried would be inevitable. I have seen projects of neighbors who used other companies and while I don't know all that they are doing, they seem to work on it for months and the yard is a muddy mess. I was so happy this was not our experience with Grey Barn at all. When the bill came, there were no surprises. John gave accurate estimates of even our add-on items. John and all who we worked with at Grey Barn have spoiled us for outdoor projects. I highly recommend!
We hired The Grey Barn to complete a full backyard renovation that included retaining walls, pool/patio deck, wood deck renovation, irrigation and landscape. The Grey Barn is definitely not going to be the cheapest quote you receive, but their attention to detail, quality workmanship, and ability to stay on budget within their original quote makes them work every penny. They started our project on time, communicated every step of the way and worked with our schedule as needed. Although we came into the project with a plan, John was able to suggest changes that both improved the overall plan and also reduced expenses. John was able to listen to our ideas & give honest feedback regarding the feasibility and create a plan with us from there. As they are wrapping up the final touches, there’s not one change I would make looking back. I appreciated that we had the same crew for the entire project, and they were so friendly and knowledgeable about any questions that came up. John’s subcontractors were also fantastic & truly great at their skills. I feel confident that I couldn’t have found equal subcontractors at a better price on my own. I highly recommend The Grey Barn & will use them again on any upcoming projects.
When we started looking to do an extension to our patio with a small outdoor kitchen we contacted The Grey Barn and one other company to come out and give us an estimate. From the moment that we met John from The Grey Barn our nerves about this extensive project were put at ease. He was extremely knowledgeable and was able to branch off our original ideas. He was able to show us things that we didn’t even know were possible. He was able to take our jumbled ideas and organize them into a beautiful drawing that was exactly what we wanted and even more! The Grey Barn’s estimate came in just a little bit more expensive than the other company but because of how he seemed to know all of the ins and outs of construction, how he interpreted our vision for our space, how comfortable John made us feel, all of the neat ideas that he had, and the beautiful drawing that gave us, we decided to go with The Grey Barn. The project took a little bit longer than expected because we had all of the snow that Arkansas never gets so that set the finish date back slightly. Once the snow cleared they were back in full force! All of the subcontractors were amazing and very polite and clean! Throughout the entire project John stayed in touch with us and answered any and all questions that we had. If you have ever had any work done It is usually extremely frustrating because you can’t get the contractor to contact you or you feel like they’re so busy they don’t have time for your silly questions. Although, I know, without a doubt, that they are super super busy John never made us feel like we were an inconvenience to him! That in itself was worth every penny to me! The project is finished and we couldn’t be any happier with how everything turned out! We are so thankful for The Grey Barn and the entire team for all of the effort that was put into our home! 10 out of 10 stars in our book and we will definitely be using them again!
We owned our house for 14 years before finally attacking a backyard project that I now wish we had confronted long ago. The Grey Barn tastefully integrated landscaping with a pergola, patio, and French patio doors, completely transforming an undistinguished 1970s ranch house into an inviting home with a backyard that is a living space in its own right. Facing a job that combined landscaping, masonry, carpentry, and design skills, our strategy was to hire the best and then stay out of it, so we left the details to The Grey Barn -- and were pleased with every decision that we didnt have to make. It was a professional job, top to bottom, and one that Im sure we will enjoy for years to come. -- Minton family.
Excellent
Missed the first appointment, was distracted during the second appointment, didn t follow through on a design, missed the deadline he set for a design, then when asked about all of it just made excuses and said I was free to go elsewhere, which I will. Sorry John, I rarely leave bad reviews but this was bad service and a bad experience.
