Veterans Landscaping & Construction in Spartanburg

Veterans Landscaping built a wall between our land and lake. Jason came quickly after our initial phone call. He made me feel at ease with what would be a large project. He coordinated when to start the work with the lake committee. He made everything so easy. The project moved along very quickly and seamlessly. Jason updated me often with the progress. And the wall is absolutely gorgeous. They also made sure that our yard was in excellent condition and everything was put back in place after the project was completed. VL is a knowledgeable, respectful, top quality company.

12/20 - Spoke with the owner on December 4th and he stated that the piece is supposed to be removable which is true, but after 2 attempts to have his crew fix it, it still pops up. He said he will send a crew out. I did not hear back from anyone, so on December 10th I reached out and he said they will have guys out once it is done raining. I never received another update because it stopped raining for a few days and followed up on December 18th and I was told to call the store the next day for an update. I called again on 12/20 and left a message. Still waiting for this piece to be fixed... 12/3/24 - Not a week later, the pool decking popped up again. On the 7th, was the 2nd request to fix it. I called the office on 11/18 to let them know that the repair did not work. I was informed Chris, the owner, was OOO that week, which I understood. I called again on 11/25 to just check in and I was told they where waiting on Chris to make a decision on what to do. A week went by, and understandable because it was Thanksgiving, I did not hear anything. I called gain on 12/2 and left a VM, no one called me back. I called again 12/3, no one answered and I left a VM. I texted the number that I sent the pictures in hopes they will respond that way. We will see if I get a call back. The front office is great, I know its not on them as they are waiting on some sort of update from the owner Chris, but they really need a PM to handle these requests. We where wanting to get a quote on a screened in porch and some landscaping, but the back end customer service is giving us pause. 11/7/24 - Called in the morning to follow up, confirmed crew did not show. Office has been amazing and super helpful. I know this was not on them. Crew did show up today and fixed the issue. 11/6/24- No showed a repair 11/2023-We are currently using Veterans for a pool project and are about half way through. Even though we have a lot of questions throughout the process (sorry team :D ), Monica has been great. We also have been very happy with the pool install team. Dillon and his team have been professional and knowledgeable. The install so far has been quality work (pool team).

UPDATE: We have been waiting almost a full year for the final load of dirt and grading from our pool fill. They promised mutiple times they were coming out and have said we are on the schedule, then go radio silent for weeks. very frustrating as we have not been able to do anything with this lot and really need it finished. Really impressed with their service. Our deck and pool removal was completed in December and we are just not really getting out to enjoy the spaces. We came across a few small issues that they quickly resolved, including bringing in more dirt to regrade the area where the pool was filled in after all has settled. Great company that stands behind their product. Would recommend

Helene tore it down and Veterans Landscaping put it back, and more. We had a hard working crew that was dedicated to making our space look great again. They were very precise with tape measures, moving plants around until they were exactly as we wanted and cleaning up after the job was done. This was the second time we used Veterans and will not hesitate to call on them again.

Cannot say enough good things about the crew at Veterans Landscaping. Jason our PM came out and we discussed what I was looking for and they got started about a week later. He showed up every day to check in and was always available for questions. The guys that did the work were awesome! They worked quickly and always cleaned up after themselves- we couldn t be happier with how our yard turned out. Will definitely use them again for other projects in the future!

BEWARE! This company will not finish our job!! Multiple problems and they won t take responsibility. Major cracks in concrete, plumbing/gas line won t pass inspection. When we called the owner at time of completion he wouldn t take our calls because he was in a deer stand . We re dropping over 80k, and you can t find time to take our call and come out to talk about options to fix this stuff you sure came trotting out to quote it when you first wanted our business. Now they ve applied for a lien on our property. Creating such drama, rather than just coming out to address the issues. SMH. Beware who you choose!!!

We used Veterans for a massive backyard project that included tree removal, grading, multiple retaining walls, concrete work, plunge pool installation, covered outdoor kitchen space, and sod installation. This was a massive backyard overhaul and the professionalism from every person at Veterans was well above expectations. They not only provided options and suggestions during the process, but they were more than happy to accommodate changes mid project and adapt to what we wanted. Communication was key with Veterans and we never felt out of the loop. Lastly, price was extremely competitive and the work was certainly worth the amount we paid. I cannot recommend Veterans enough!

I know its that time of the year where everyone is gearing up for the planting and gardening season, but I didnt expect them to be out of top soil of all things. Customer service was still on point even though they didnt have what I needed at the time!

The prices are reasonable. The delivery fees can be a bit steep if you order different materials like sand and gravel in multiple trips.

Wonderful place very helpful and extremely knowledgeable. Love all the new stuff they have. Great people working there.

This is the second year Ive ordered mulch from Veterans Landscaping. I get the double-ground mulch, and it is awesome! I have several large water oaks on the property I am invested in keeping healthy, and Master Arborist Randy Cyr of Greentree in Greenville evaluated the trees and recommended creating beds of mulch around them to provide beneficial nutrients as it breaks down. I ended up ordering almost 20 scoops of mulch last year in three separate deliveries...all were delivered promptly and were a great value (read: I got a lot of mulch for the price). This year I ordered 10 scoops delivered and it was so much mulch I wondered if I accidentally ordered 20 again...Great value! With 10 scoops, I was able to refresh the two large beds I made last year in the front of the house around the oaks- one is 20 feet in diameter and the other 26 feet in diameter- along with three large beds in the back yard and all the beds along the house. Overall, I am really happy with the high quality, clean mulch and great service. Highly recommend.

We just finished putting in our pool and it is amazing! 9 days from start to finish with even landscaping installed. Couldn t be happier!

I feel like this is an accurate description of my experience with Veterans Landscaping. I called last week on 9/11 and set an appointment for somebody to come to my house at 10:30am on 9/18. Before we hung up the phone I explained that I understand things happen sometimes, so please just have somebody call me if the person coming is going to be late. I received a text message on 9/15 confirming my appointment for Monday 9/18 at 10:30. Today, 9/18, 10:30am came and went. No call, no show. At 10:56am I received a call from a lady telling me that somebody was coming and they were about 30 minutes away. I told the lady on the phone that she needed to have that person turn around. She then said that my appointment window was from 10:30 to 11:30. That was the first time anybody said anything about an appointment window. The appointment time was for 10:30, and I specifically asked that somebody please call if they were running late. I felt like the lady on the phone became combative and said they were not late, they have a one hour window. She said that her notes said that they were supposed to call 30 minutes before they arrived. I have no reason to think she was lying about what here notes said, but that does not change the fact that I had an appointment for 10:30 and nobody called before that time to tell me they would be late. We were obviously not going to agree on whether or not they were late. I told her that there was no use in us arguing and that I was not interested in doing business with this company. My suggestion is this; If somebody should expect you between 10:30 and 11:30, you should say that. I do not feel like it is implied that somebody gets one hour of leeway when an appointment is set for a certain time.

I was very pleased with the work. Tim and his group did a great job for my mother-in-laws walkway. She was very pleased with the finished product. The walk looks great. Tims crew did a great job of installation and clean up when finished. Highly recommend.

I was on a short timeline to put in our inground pool and Veterans Landscaping did an amazing job above and beyond. Everyone was wonderful to work with from start to finish. I absolutely love our pool and fence!

Veterans just finished replacing a large, old, failing retaining wall at the end of our sloping driveway. Estimate was fair and quite similar to others solicited locally. Tim, the estimator, took significant time making thorough measurements of the needs and was friendly and professional every time. The hard-working crew was completely devoted to giving us the best possible outcome, which they did. The job took much of a 6-day workweek and the crew cleaned up each day before departing. The finished wall is just what we were hoping for, with no caveats. It was truly a pleasure, from start to finish.

I thought at first that a company with this many positive reviews must be hiding something, or perhaps it must be propping its own ratings up with fake reviews (something you can see on Amazon item reviews, from time to time)...well, it turns out that the hype is real when it comes to Veterans Landscaping and Construction.Chris Harrell is a real person, and though I cant confirm or deny whether or not he is super-powered (Ive never seen one person make so many people *this* happy across the board), I will say that he was responsive, professional, courteous, and timely. Not only that, but he kept in touch with me throughout the entire process, even after it was completed, in case I had any questions. His crew was hard-working, professional, and courteous...and they W-O-R-K. They completed the work in timely manner, and it looks amazing. If I ever need anything else they will be the first and only company I call...I will recommend Veterans to everyone I know from now on. Thanks again Chris!!!!!!

I give Veteran s Landscaping and construction my highest recommendation! The entire process could not have gone better!!! I researched a lot of companies before hiring them, and they greatly exceeded our expectations!!! We had an existing gravel fire pit area, but getting to it from our house was a very steep descent/climb. We worked with Chris to design a beautiful paver and stone pathway, as well as a redo of the existing fire pit area. The estimate he gave us was very reasonable. We had to delay the project due to our neighbors requiring us to survey our property line, so we could get approval by our HOA design board. This delayed the project by about 2 months, but Chris assured me it was no problem. Once approved by our HOA, he got us back on their construction schedule within a few weeks! The actual build had a few rain days, but the crew always cleaned up impeccably! They were so respectful and are truly artists in their work! We could not be happier with the results!!! I hired Veterans to sod my lawn. My job was small and they got to me in between better jobs. I get a call and theyre coming. No kill off of the old grass or weeds. Scraped it off and threw it down. Showed up with no top soil as was agreed. Disappointed.

Chris and his crew did an outstanding job on my moms patio, walkway and catch basin. She was having major drainage issues and they came in put a catch basin and ran the line out from the walkway. Due to the Covid 19 they had trouble getting certain pavers but they kept working until they found ones mom liked. My dad passed in 2019 he was a Vietnam Veteran. He always wanted him a sit down place by his building and mom and I wanted to do one in memory of Pop and Chris made it happen. Chris & Tim are great guys and they do wonderful work. 5 * from us. Veterans Landscaping built us a beautiful, rock solid 15X15 foot paver patio with a custom fire pit, and then covered our 16 X 20 deck with a roof that complimented our homes roof. It was done quickly, cleanly and the workmanship was beautiful. The deck was so reinforced that well probably go underneath it the next time the tornado siren goes off. Tim, the foreman is very professional, he kept us informed as the project was taking place. It is very obvious that they take great pride in the work they do. My husband and I would highly recommend them to anyone. In fact, by word of mouth alone, they will have done five different jobs in our neighborhood of 42 homes. It is beautiful and they were super nice, fast and thorough. Top notch customer service and great communication! Chris and his team just completed a beautiful makeover of our landscape, including the edition of a patio and fire pit! Everything turned out better than I expected and they were wonderful to work with! Anything I asked of them, they delivered. They do a great job with our regular lawn maintenance, however, they exceeded themselves with this makeover!

They did the work but not what I asked for, at the end we had a final payment dispute. I didnt had the time to go for the labor court, so I had to take the loss for the amount.

They did a front patio and rebuild a side walkway area for us. Theyve done a great job on both. The best thing is that they communicate, which is the biggest problem people have with most contractors. I plan to use them again in the spring to work on the rest of the yard.

Chris and his team recently installed 15 pallets of sod in our backyard and they did a superb job. Everyone we interacted with was professional and friendly. Chriss pricing, despite using only the highest grade of Bermuda sod, was very reasonable compared to some other bids we received. He was always quick to respond to questions and proactive about following up after the work was complete to make sure the grass was coming in well and receiving proper irrigation coverage. I would highly recommend him and we plan to hire him again when we execute on some future plans.

Chris and his workers removed our old shrubbery, redesigned and laid sod in our front yard. We have a lot of flower beds and lots of leaves in the fall. They remove the leaves without disturbing the pine straw. Great customer service and attention to our needs!
