Chris and team did an outstanding job of turning our backyard into a grassy oasis. They took our guidance on what was important to us and provided their own expertise to ensure the project had a holistic and well-designed approach. Most importantly, they took pride in their work and in making sure that everything was done with high quality and while ensuring the long term success of the landscaping. This team seriously know their stuff - they've turned this backyard into an absolute showstopper that's both beautiful and livable. If you're thinking about a landscaping project, Clearview is definitely your crew!
An overall great experience. They produced a beautiful, functional design that incorporated the elements we had discussed while making excellent use of the space that was available. The overall scope of the project involved design, plant selection, demolition, hauling, irrigation, planting, decomposed granite (DG) placement, poured-in-place concrete, and probably some stuff that escapes my mind just now. We were happy with each component of the design and execution, and were relieved that Clearview managed all of the teams and were providing regular oversight to ensure the work was being performed correctly and that the design was translating well to the real world. If you already have a strong vision for the design of your project, are comfortable closely supervising multiple disparate teams, and are trying to pinch pennies, there *might* be other options available to you, but I'm not aware of another company that can deliver such a comprehensive array of services at this price point. Consider Clearview for your next project.
Clearview Landscaping put in a decorative border of pavers around our patio yard 3 years ago. We recently had new fencing installed and the installers left damaged pavers in several places in the process. We called Chris and he sent a team out to make repairs. They came in a timely manner and quickly completed the job. You cannot even tell where the repairs were made. Clearview's work is excellent quality and we enjoy working with them.
The photos will speak for themselves Before reaching out to Clearview our backyard was basically just dirt and weeds with a gopher problem and terrible drainage. On our first call with Chris we described our backyard vision and what our project goals were. Chris and his team then worked closely with us to make a plan that not only met our goals and budget but created a beautiful backyard we want to spend time in. Our priorities were drainage as well as eliminating weeds and gophers. Upon breaking ground they cleared the top layer of dirt and weeds and then graded the area to divert water to a specific place to be received by the French drain. Then they dug a French drain which collects the diverted water from the planned grading and sends it to the dry creek which they also created. After laying a simple irrigation system for a few trees and shrubs they put down weed mat and gopher wire. Then came the DG (decomposed granite) and pea gravel as the top layer. Planting trees and shrubs were the last step for completion. Keep in mind our backyard was completed in under two weeks. Our first storm of the season we got about 2 inches of rain within an hour which is substantial in Southern California. The French drain and dry creek worked amazing. The water was diverted through the French drain, to the dry creek where it absorbed into the ground just as planned. Goal achieved. Additionally, since Clearview finished, our weed and gopher problems are now non-existent. Goals achieved. One year after completion, we're so happy with the results. Chris and the Clearview team did an excellent job. They were punctual, worked according to the plans and budget and got the job done within the time frame they proposed. Not only that but Chris has made himself available for any questions or help needed since project completion. Clearview Landscaping does high quality, finished work and I would absolutely hire them again for future projects!
We used Clearview for a complicated project to underground a streetlight wire and prepare for an underground conduit, meter, and base for a new streetlight. Chris Hulme and Kevin Downs with Clearview were up to the task. This involved strict SB planning and SCE requirements. Clearview's competent employees dug a three food ditch through rocks and boulders from the back of our yard to the street. They completed it and it was approved immediately with no corrections. Huge task and very impressive work. Chris also spoke with and informed our neighbors. This took that stress off of us. These pictures don't express how beautiful their stonework for this project was as well. It's outstanding, and we are enjoying all the compliments. They also created a beautiful wooden staircase on the other side of our yard that is now the highlight as you enter our property. Five stars for these guys. This project was more expensive than we thought, but isn't that the case for all of us. I say it's well worth the price. The fact that we had zero problems with the city and SCE speaks to the outstanding work of Clearview.
Chris and the entire Clearview Landscaping crew designed and implemented our new tropical paradise as if it were going to be their own home. They cleared the overgrown old plantings and carefully prepared the ground to address gopher, weed, and drainage issues. After regrading the back hill, the crew installed new sandstone rock walls that look great and created flat planting areas that are easier to maintain. The new drip system was professionally installed and ensures proper irrigation of over 30 new tropical plantings. All work was completed cleanly, with care, and on schedule. We are excited to see the new plant growth in our yard and will enjoy it for many years.
Chris and his team at Clearview Landscaping did several projects at our house on the Upper Riviera; irrigation, planting, driveway bricks and design and spreading gorilla mulch. All projects were performed timely, with great communication and follow through. We love our brick driveway (it was previously concrete) and the four square pattern outside our garage doors. We highly recommend them and will most definitely use them again!

After the very heavy rain storms last January and February, a significant problem emerged in our rear yard. It was a large sinkhole that had started around a power pole on the other side of our fence. On our side of the fence it was several feet long and several feet deep. This needed to be fixed. We had been using Clearview Landscaping for several years for periodic maintenance of our drip irrigation system, so we gave them a call. They responded immediately. Chris sent a team out to assess the situation. In the course of this, they identified an additional drainage issue that could present problems in the future and gave us a detailed plan for fixing this. We gave them the go ahead and the job was completed in a very timely manner. Clearview is a company that can handle a wide range of landscaping work, from the routine to the unexpected. We would recommend them for any landscaping and other yard-related projects.
We made the right choice hiring Clearview Landscaping to plan and implement our extensive drainage system for our property. Neighbors behind my property removed their trees and built a ADU at slighter higher elevation which caused a lot of drainage problems this past year for me. Clearview Landscaping handled the whole project from beginning to end very well and I would highly recommend them...from initial discussion with Chris Hulme, to designer Kim, hands-on crew...all did actual excellent job, including follow-up afterwards. And a nice touch was the thank you gift basket. You wont be disappointed!
The Clearview team has done a variety of infrastructure jobs around our property (fence reinforcement, irrigation, drainage, etc.) The communication is great -- scheduling is easy, they show up when they say they are going to and the provide status updates (with pictures) all along the way. The team does quality work and leaves every job neat and clean.

I enjoyed working with Chris and the crew at Clearview. They worked with me on the details of the concrete driveway and sidewalk job. Everyone worked very well as a team to get the job done. I am a resident at an apartment complex that utilizes this lawn care services and my experience with workers have been horrible. Spanish/Bilingual speaking workers, I hear, call me names, vilify and degrade me often.
Clearview did a great job cleaning, sanding and sealing my paver patio. Before I found Clearview I contacted two other local businesses that do this kind of work, but didn t hear back from either one. Chris was quick to return my call. Wow, what a transformation! I contacted Chris after deciding to move forward with a backyard renovation and he was so friendly and likeable on the phone. He made me feel so comfortable about our project and assured me that he had a professional team that would be able to accomplish all of our needs. The team was very friendly, professional, and helpful. As with many renovation projects, this one was not void of challenge, but Chris and Clearview handled it better than any other company would have been able to. They are littering our neighborhood with flyers even though we have no soliciting signs up. Stuff left on the gate if were not in town a few days attracts thieves; I would never use them because if they are respectful to obey no soliciting signs they wont be respectful in other matters. Plug its illegal to solicit if there is a no soliciting sign up.
They are throwing a piece of fake turf attached to their advertisement in everybody s front yard. This is littering in my book. It is uncalled for.
Clearview did a wonderful job of replacing our pool deck, patio and built a new pergola. They were always on time and professional. The workers were very efficient and diligent about cleaning up the work site at the end of each day. I wouldnt hesitate to call them again for any landscaping needs, small or large!

I love the finished product, I enjoyed wine and cheese on the lawn for sunset. I was barefoot and the turf was warm and I was able to enjoy the stars at night.

Chris and his talented crew helped turn our overgrown weed forest (no exaturation) into the tropical paradise we were dying to have. We had the work completed before the shutdown and could not be more happy with our new oasis! It has seriously helped us get through being at home surrounded by such beautiful landscaping. Without the great work of Clearview, we would be sitting in lawn chairs lost in the weeds and dirt. Chris took my 2 dimensional drawing and brought it to life more than I had envisioned. It all started with the idea to finally put Christmas lights on the house this year. I got started over the weekend and halfway through discovered that my ladder wasn t tall enough to reach a few high spots on the house (and my roof crawling skills just aren t ready for prime time). So, I thought I d call and see if someone could help me finish the job. Clearview has been working at our neighbors house and doing a really good job there so when they came up in my google search for Christmas light installations I thought, That s perfect - they know what they re doing plus they have a tall ladder on their van that would do the trick. I called and talked to Kevin and even though he said they no longer do Christmas light installations, they would happily let me borrow the tall ladder. Long story short, the ladder is really heavy so two of the crew at our neighbors house, Alberto and Gallito, volunteered to help for a little bit after work so I could get my lights hung. And instead of me climbing up the ladder (keep in mind I m a 5 4 lady) they jumped in and finished what I had started. Plus they did a great job - way better than what I would have done. And now my heart is sooo happy to have my house shining bright this year! The kindness, integrity, and willingness to help by all the guys at Clearview was so wonderful. I believe in hiring people you can trust and count on and the attitudes of the team at Clearview is what I look for in people I work with. And even though I didn t exactly hire them for the job this time, I ll be sure to give them a call for any future projects I may have.
