I hired Black Diamond Paver Stones & Landscaping for a major driveway and landscaping overhaul, and they absolutely exceeded my expectations. They removed my old, cracked cement driveway, replaced it with stunning pavers, widened it, and adjusted the slope to prevent my car from scraping and make walking easier--especially helpful for my elderly parents. The new zero-scape design, complete with California native plants and two beautiful crepe myrtles, has drawn so many compliments from my neighbors. They even created a functional space for garbage cans, updated the French drains to handle water efficiently, and tied everything together beautifully with pavers leading to my doorstep. Vanessa, the project coordinator, was fantastic. She was extremely communicative, responsive, and consistently checked in throughout the project. Ivan, the foreman, delivered impeccable craftsmanship and took pride in his work. Anytime I asked for adjustments to get things just right, he was happy to accommodate. Both Vanessa and Ivan showed incredible dedication, even navigating challenges like rain delays and water main issues with diligence and professionalism. The final results speak for themselves, and I couldnt be happier with the widened driveway, improved slopes, and gorgeous landscaping. Hardscaping is clearly their specialty, but the landscaping they executed was equally impressive, enhancing curb appeal while fostering the local ecosystem. I recently completed a backyard landscape project which included the demolition of an existing tile and concrete patio and installation of a beautiful new paver patio with Black Diamond Landscape. Peter Smith managed the project from start to finish, and was professional, personable, helpful, and provided excellent communication throughout the entire project. Peter helped me throughout the project, giving me input on design and paver selection, and keeping me up to date on the installation. He was easy to get a hold of and worked seamlessly with other contractors involved in my project. The construction crew was professional, respectful of my property, and hardworking. When a small issue arose, both Peter and the construction crew made sure that this was taken care of right away. The finished patio is really beautiful and I am thrilled with the result. Paul and the Black Diamond team were extremely professional, responsive, reliable, and fast once we got up and running on our paving project for a new driveway and patio, as well as a French drain install at our home in Oakland. Our project was ambitious, especially given our tight budget, and Paul did a great job working with us to tweak the designs, throw in additional items where he could, while working with the Black Diamond team to get us the best rate possible. Once we were up and running the crew the project went really smoothly, Paul was responsive to our questions, helped troubleshoot small issues that arose (Roots, existing drain pipes, etc.), and even checked in while he was out a few days on vacation. Having recently replaced our front steps using Black Diamond Paver Stones & Landscape we were excited to reach out again to replace our old asphalt driveway with pavers. We were not disappointed. When Tyler Plato showed us his landscape design, my husband and I were delighted. His design reflected our needs and preferences. His computer rendering of what our front and back yards could look like gave us the confidence to forge ahead with this major renovation. And that was just the start. Tyler spent a good deal of time with us selecting plants and ground cover materials, providing guidance along the way. When the workmen arrived, he kept a close eye on the progress, course correcting where necessary. Even after the project was completed, Tyler visited us to demonstrate pruning techniques to ensure we could properly maintain the health and appearance of our plants. This was a large project, at least for us! The scope included design, drought tolerant plantings, irrigation, lighting and ground covers. The lighting looks fabulous after dark. Whether night or day, it is a pleasure to drive home and see a beautiful yard which makes us proud. Four months later, plants are blooming and we love the sight. Neighbors have commented very favorably on the transformation. We chose Tyler (and his company Black Diamond) because of his design skills, enthusiasm, horticulture expertise, and his interpersonal skills with clients. His project management kept the effort on schedule and executed according to plan. Doubt we could have made a better decision.

Decided to have my old wood deck replaced after 30+ years with pavers. Contacted Black Diamond Paver Stones & Landscape. Met with Michael Gurtler (Project Manager) and came up with a project plan to demo and install pavers. Prior to project starting, met with Michael and Oscar (Crew Foreman) to ensure project work. Work crew was always on time every day and area were cleared of debris at the end of the workday. Michael Gurtler periodically showed up to ensure the work progress and asked if we had any questions. Project timeframe was completed ahead of the original estimated timeframe. Cost of the project was higher than expected but after completion of the project, I believe that it was worth the cost. We worked with Roy Lau and Black Diamond Pavers in Dec 2022 and they started work immediately after we received approval from our HOA in Jan 2023. Roy listened to our need of increasing parking space to our existing driveway. He gave us good recommendations to remove an existing tree so we can enlarge the new paver area so we can park an additional 3 cars. He helped us draw up the plan for submission to our HOA, and was quick to respond for additional info from our HOA via text and email. My wife had a lot of questions throughout the process and Roy was very patient and customer focused in addressing her concerns. The actual demo and paver installation work was completed in 3 days which exceeded our expectations. The day after the completed installation, my wife noticed oil stains on a couple of the pavers. We texted the picture to Roy and he arranged the crew to come out the next day to take a look. To make sure my wife was happy with the results, Roy had the crew replaced the two pavers with oil stain and a few other pavers with scratch marks. We thought it will be an easy task, but the crew had to chip each paver individually out and reapply the polymeric sand. To make sure we were completely happy with the results, Roy went an extra step and scheduled Bates Clean and Seal to come out and give us a complementary chemical wash for the entire paver area for a sparkling finish. That is why we highly recommend Roy and Diamond Pavers who stand behind their product and work to the customers satisfaction! Some of our neighbors walked by and asked about the project and I gladly referred them to Roy.

I first experienced Black Diamond in 2019 when they started and completed my front yard pavers. I was absolutely pleased with the results and the close communication with my project manager. So I decided to rehire them to complete my backyard project. The completion of the project went without a hitch and was ahead of schedule. The project was ultimately completed on 11/6/2022. Since then we have experienced heavy rains and, at the end of January, I noticed some gaps in the pavers as if the soil underneath was separating (see photos). I reached out immediately to my project manager who, in turn, requested an immediate inspection of the problem (January 27, 2023). An inspector was scheduled (about 10 days later on Feb 7) who confirmed that additional sand grout was needed to address the problem. Since then, there has been complete silence. I reached out to the companys client support manager via email once again on March 3rd and, besides apologizing for the delay, nothing has still happened. I am extremely disappointed by the lack of professionalism. This company approaches you with an amazing sales pitch with prices that are above average but it will also include a 27 years warranty on pavers installation. Unfortunately, based on my experience, you are only paying a higher price than competitors upfront; the warranty portion seems to be just empty words. I am definitely going to shop around for future needs and I will make sure to share my experience. Bad business model!

After meeting with a few other landscaping business my husband and I decided to go with Black Diamond. From the start both Michael and Tyler were easy to work with and professional. I felt they listened to what we needed and there was no hard sell. Michael walked us through the process of designing the hardscape (pavers) for our front yard, driveway and backyard. He also helped us choose the the pavers and tie them in seamlessly with the existing hardscape. Tyler managed and created our softscape. He did a phenomenal job helping us create a yard that is drought tolerant, water wise and beautiful to look at. He took the time to explain each plant to me, what to expect from it, how to care for it. As a team Michael and Tyler are 5 stars. They were responsive throughout the process, addressing any concerns we had in a timely manner. I would also like to mention the team they had working on our yard. They too were easy to work with. Coming from a construction background I was impressed with their work. They kept the project site clean and were always kind and unobtrusive.

We recently had our entrance stairs and hallway redone with Black Diamond. We chose them among four other companies based on customer reviews and price fairness. Black Diamond did a great job, the entrance to our house now looks amazing, Im so happy we chose them for the job. The people that worked with us were very responsive, knowledgeable and professional. A big thank you to our Project Designer, Jimmy Crane, our Coordinator, Alejandra C. and Ivan, our foreman.

We had our front path installed by Black Diamond Pavers. Michael Gurtler was very patient, efficient, and responsive. His foreman, Hanniel, had great attention to detail and was very tidy. The work started in the window specified and completed as expected. We asked for a change order while work was ongoing and they were able to accommodate our request. They were able to quickly tear out an existing deck, level the ground, and install our new pavers. The quote I received was reasonable and the level of service was excellent.

Mike Gurtler and Oscar did a great job putting paving stones in my driveway. They were very easy to get along with and got the job done with minimal stress. They communicated very well and went above and beyond to help us out.

The crew laying the pavers were great and did a very nice job. Our designer/liaison, Jimmy, was also great to work with. However the job coordinator and folks in the office are terrible. Either very tardy replies or no response at all to my texts, voicemails and emails. No info given when workers did not show up on promised days. Very shoddy communication, coordination and follow-up. Nine days after job completion I still cannot park in my driveway because there are pallets and a TOILET sitting in it! We love the new patio, but dealing with the office has left us extremely frustrated.

I could not have had a better experience than I did with Jimmy and Irving from Black Diamond. He and the company did everything possible to create exactly what we were looking for, while being extremely responsive, open and professional. The design portion of the project was extremely smooth and Jimmy worked with me every step (and change) of the way, ensuring we loved what we got while staying within our budget. Irving (foreman) was equally professional and positive. After leaving a couple design decisions somewhat open-ended for Irving to do what he thought best, I never Thad a second thought about the look again, as he took a lot of care and thought to do what looks best. Could not possibly recommend Jimmy, Irving and the whole Black Diamond team anymore. Love the new yard!!

My experience with Black Diamond was extremely positive: from estimating and planning the project until its completion everything was on time, professional and smooth. I am very grateful to Jimmy, our project manager, to let me change my mind almost at the end of the work and allow for an unplanned stop to change the front door, and then subsequently make the front walkway wider. We chose Black Diamond for a complete renovation of our backyard. They completed a massive demo of our old pool deck, retaining wall, and old pergola. We replaced the hardscape/pool deck and retaining wall with Belgrade pavers in Riviera and Melville, per JDs recommendation, and could not be happier with how it all turned out. JD was really easy to communicate with and made my landscaping vision a reality. Oscar and his team were great, from demolition to completion- he understood everything we wanted to do and made it happen, in a timely and professional manner. Black Diamond did a wonderful front yard renovation for us! That included pavers, artificial turf and landscape. Michael Martinez and his team (3 cheers for Juan) were very professional and on-time. We fully recommend them!

We had a major over haul of our garden: levelling the entire area, installing a retaining wall, laying new turf, a patio, and an area of mulch for a play area. The team did an excellent job. The work was done to a very high standard throughout, the team were friendly and responsive to our requests and needs, and Peter was a fantastic point of contact. He offered several good suggestions and helped us flesh out our ideas and guide us to the best outcome, without ever trying to up sell us. In fact he often worked to find a more economical solution for us. Two very enthusiastic thumbs up from a very happy customer!

Black Diamonds crew (which is run by Andreina and Wilmer) just left. They changed our front yard from being old cracked cement and sad bushes into something that is attractive and easy to maintain. Paver stones look great with our house, and careful sloping helps with drainage. Columba Gutierrez and Steve Turner (He is the best!!) coordinated and managed the project. Steve listened to what we wanted from start to finish and also designed the project and developed beautiful drawings. He was responsible with the budget and paid close attention to every design detail from bronzing the drainage grate and arranging beautiful polished pebbles to recommending the plants. Devil Mountain Nursery took longer than expected and kept delaying the delivery. The plants are smaller than we were expecting, but it is still Winter. The nursery was our only disappointment. But, the crew went and got the plants to make sure we would not need to wait any longer to get our dream front yard. Steve and crew made it all work. Thanks Black Diamond.

Oscar s team did a terrific job to transform our old back deck into a beautiful paver stone terrace. The crew leader John was on top of all of the design details and completed the job in a matter of days, exceeding our expectations.

Worked with Peter Smith as the designer and project manager. Process was easy with good feedback and fair prices. As we worked through the install there was plenty of communication on some of the small changes we made. Hector and his install crew were great and kept the yard clean every day. My dog was disappointed she wanted their lunch leftovers. Between Peter and Hector they added some extra little touches to edging and stairs that I was not expecting. At the of the job they did a nice job fixing the irrigation and gates that were slightly damaged in the whole process Definitely recommend working with them .

That said, I was sold on BD because of the low pressure and attentive service from Peter Smith, their Rep. Unlike the other two, he listened to my suggestions and when appropriate improved them with his own. Nothing was an upsell, and in fact he suggested ways to save money. The work was done professionally and on budget, with no change orders. The actual work was incredibly detailed and professional, with the edging and risers done perfectly. Awesome project team! We were lucky to work with Michael, Irving and Travis to complete a major upgrade to our backyard. New retaining wall, re-graded and leveled 1500+ square feet, New paver patio of almost 1100 sq.ft with new water drain lines and a gas fireplace. Michael Martinez, project manager, executed the project exactly as discussed, helping to design a layout that improved the overall usability of our backyard with very functional spaces. We are very happy with the job Black Diamond did to transform our side yard and back yard with pavers and stairs. I got quotes from three top-rated paver companies (4.5 stars or better), and Black Diamonds quote was the least expensive by about $1000. They also threw in adding landscape fabric and small, decorative stones to a few small areas at the edges where pavers would not fit, while the other two companies insisted we do that part ourselves as a DIY project. I appreciated that Black Diamond was providing a more full-service experience and was charging less for it. We worked with Peter Smith as our designer and overall project manager. Oscar managed the team that did the installation, and the on-site work crew leader was Javier. All three of them did an amazing job. Peter was very friendly, professional, and created a beautiful and functional design. Oscar worked on-site for one day at the beginning when the most complicated work was done, and I assume he was working in the background to keep everything organized and ensure the project moved smoothly, from material delivery to work crew assignments to debris removal. Javier was very skilled and personally built the stairs, the most difficult part of the job. Ive attached some photos of the final product. We are very happy and recommend Black Diamond, Peter, Oscar, and Javier.

I waited a long time to consider putting in pavers, not only because of the cost, but because I knew it would dramatically change the look of my home. Michael was very professional, wearing a mask, texting and calling ahead of time always, and as the product was underway, would come by and take photos of the progress during the day and dropped by a couple of times after the project was completed. His crew was exceptionally clean and tidy on the property, considering all the messy material including stone and sand and paid a great attention to detail. They matched some existing cobblestone on my side driveway seamlessly. It has rained since installation and there are no issues with puddling of water or slick areas... Everything was graded very well.I am very pleased with the results and it is a joy to come home now to a beautiful driveway instead of a cracked, stained and old one! The only trouble is that now my garage and house look bland against the driveway...I will have to paint and upgrade the exterior to match the beauty of the driveway.

Black Diamond completely rejuvenated our 23 year-old backyard. Our Black Diamond project designer, consultant and project manager was Michael Martinez. We decided to go with Black Diamond at the end of our first meeting with Michael Martinez. He listened to everything I wanted to do to transform our swampy, sloping yard and wrote up a plan/design on the spot. His knowledge of functionality and proper drainage was very impressive. Michael is very familiar with hardscape products which were very valuable considering the scale of the proposed work. The on-site crew was always on time and had an excellent work ethic. They started at 8am and concluded at 5pm daily. They minimized impact from heavy machinery and constant loads of materials coming and going from the site by covering where possible front yard landscaping with plywood. At the end of each day, Michael s team would clean up which my neighbors appreciated. He checked in on site daily to ensure the project was progressing smoothly and to address any project concerns or challenges immediately. If we weren t home he d provide updates via phone or text. We never felt out of the loop and didn t have any surprises due to Michael s excellent communication skills. When weather didn t allow for construction to continue, Michael s crew would arrive and cover the site to minimize downtime. Michael always had our family s best interests in mind. We really like that Michael handles every aspect of the project. We didn t have to deal with a separate salesperson, designer, project manager, contractor or subcontractor; he manages it all giving us peace of mind. Having completed the first part of our project I felt compelled to write this review for the excellent five star customer service and end product we received from Michael Martinez at Black Diamond Paver Stones and Landscape, we highly recommend him.

I had 4 different paving companies bid on my new driveway and front yard hardscaping project and Black Diamond was very competitive indeed on price. After a lot of research and a couple of meetings with their consultant Michael Martinez I decided to go with Black Diamond because they clearly had the experience and expertise for the job that I was looking for. MIchael had a lot of really good ideas that made the project look much better and ended up saving us money. The finished product is first class and the neighbors are complimenting us on how good it makes our house look. My advice to anyone looking for a paving company is you dont have to choose Black Diamond, but you shouldnt bid your job without talking to them. Im not an easy guy to please, and I never like to over pay, Im happy on both counts. I got a top quality job at a great price. The crew was professional, clean, and fast. When you desire to have pavers installed around your home, don t waste your time checking out all the different companies. There is only one company to do the job, Black Diamond Paver Stones & Landscaping in San Ramon. We contracted with them to install pavers beside the swimming pool in our back yard. The plan was to make a significant addition to pavers that were already in place for several years. The result was a perfect match to the existing pavers, with an identical pattern and excellent blend between the old and the new. During the week-long installation procedure, Howard Kaplan, the project design specialist arrived each morning to inform us what was planned for the day. He also checked at the end of each day to determine the progress. Enrique Trejo, the foreman of the job, is a master of pavers and Saul, his assistant, worked non-stop with incredible effort. They did extra work to make sure everything was perfect. On a scale of one to ten the company is off the charts. We now have the most beautiful yard in the neighborhood. We had our driveway redone in pavers with Black Diamond, and we are thrilled with the results. Michael Martinez was our Project Manager, and he promised excellent service as in managing the project, and he did not disappoint. He provided us with homes in the area that we could visit to help us decide on the best stone and color choices for our home. He communicated throughout the projected, and worked with me to make the best in-project decisions that needed to be made as issues arose. He never tried to up-sell us on more expensive materials just for the sake of up-selling. He always had our best interests in mind when helping us to make decisions. The overall cost was reasonable for the work that was done, and the upgrades that we added during the project were also reasonably -priced and added to the finished product. The team was efficient and easy to work with. As Michael is not on-site all the time, there were others who were able to explain the process and the progress that was being made. They were able to pull in workers from other jobs a couple of days, which resulted in our project being completed a full week ahead of schedule. We have a beautiful driveway that was done for a reasonable cost and was completed a week ahead of schedule - we are very happy customers!
