We hired Ideal Landscape to repair/replace the pavers on our HOA pool deck after a pool/spa replastering project. We had damage from the removal of a motorized pool cover, from leak repairs, and guardrail replacements, etc. First, David was extremely responsive and called me back quickly from my initial call and then came out to the site to provide an estimate within another few days. Once we were ready for the paver work to begin, David came back out and introduced me to our project lead, Hector. Hector is not only very skilled at his job, he is an excellent communicator, and at every step of a 3.5 day project he went above and beyond to ensure an excellent final result. When our project was complete, Hector asked me to confirm I was happy with everything- which I am, and then I got a call from David the next morning to make sure the project had gone to my satisfaction. The water was not draining properly and leaving large puddles in and around the driveway area, which was not only a nuisance but a safety issue. Dave had 8 workers, working on this project to figure out how the slope needed to slope and drain properly. They pulled out all the pavers, repaved, made a larger drain, corrected the slope, and the problem was corrected. What a relief for us. We were so happy with his work we had Ideal Landscape, cement our side yard. It looks amazing, what an improvement. The workmanship is superior to the cement work we have done in the past. David from Ideal Landscaping was wonderful. We had areas of pavers in the front walkway and a corner of the driveway that had sunk, in addition to pavers around a backyard shed that had shifted. I called several places and David gave me the most reasonable price. I knew his company would be good as he had done work for my neighbor. His team completed the work in a timely fashion and did a very good job. I am very pleased with the results. No one will now trip over uneven pavers. His guys were polite and careful to clean up. David himself is a real gentleman. I love my new backyard patio, which was installed by Ideal. They handled everything from the demolition of the old backyard grass and flagstone, to rebuilding steps, to purchasing and installing the pavers. Throughout the project, David and his crews were so responsive, professional, easy to work with - and they brought forth their own ideas and suggestions. This is the 3rd project they have done at my home, and they will continue to be my go-to business for future renovations.

David came out on a hot summer day to my house just to save me money and I feel very bad but extremely grateful for his kindness and honesty. We just had renovations and the backyard is in shambles. Grass, trees need to be cut, irrigation needs to be fixed and mulch added here and there. Some plants are clearly dying and other problems here and there. David listened to these issues and gave me a quote, but also recommended that I go with a gardener who would be more economical for us. I dont think he needed to do that - could have easily made money from us. We wont be using David this time but we highly recommend him to others and look forward to a time in the future when we can hire him. Particularly if your job is not a landscape maintenance job but rather a from scratch job. He is a great human being and a pleasure to speak to.

Ideal Landscape & Concrete came highly recommended by locals on the NextDoor App. We are so pleased with the work that David and his crew did for us in an astounding three days! We replaced a 35 ft front walkway, added a secondary 25 foot walkway to the driveway, and poured a new walkway and patio area in the backyard. There was a team of nine men working industriously throughout the project! Navigating giant roots from vintage trees and removing old water pipes seemed like a herculean effort, but the crews knowledge of how to address these obstacles made it an easy task for them. Our project was completed on time, and the crew was meticulous in cleaning up, even adding new rocks and soil. David was wonderful to work with: personable, professional, detailed, and attentive. We had Ideal Landscaping & Concrete work on all our yards (front, back and both side yards). Very knowledgeable, experienced, great problem solvers and professional. The price is comparable to other quotes we got, but the workmanship and quality is beyond what other companies do therefore you get top-notch services for the same price but a much better product . We know our yards were done correctly the first time, and all issues taken care of. I cant recommend them highly enough! We had them come out to remove a deck and a tiny yard to replace with a concrete patio and turf lawn. David responded right away, came out quickly and gave us a ballpark estimate on the spot. A few hours later we had a quote. Their prices were very reasonable and the communication was very clear. The team was meticulous and incredibly professional. They covered the driveway with tarp every day, and cleaned up every night and finished the work on time...would have been ahead of schedule if the weather held up.

We received a few quotes when searching for a front patio and backyard refresh. We wanted to get rid of the mulch, broken concrete, and railroad ties that were all over. This review is long overdue. We hired David and Ideal Landscape a year ago to install concrete, artificial turf, and natural grass in both our front and back yards. We were thrilled with the work at the completion of the project, and we are still thrilled with it now! But perhaps even better than the craftmanship (which was top notch) was the experience of working with David and his crew. They were trustworthy, communicative, prompt, clean, and very professional. David gave us great advice and kept us within our budget. I would not hesitate to call him again for future projects.

The Ideal team removed the existing material, included a large section of the garage floor, repaired and prepped the areas, and then did a great job replacing the cement in the garage, reinstalling the driveway pavers, and replacing our side yard cement with pavers and a new drainage system. We used David and Ideal Engineering to repair an almost 100 year old brick wall that a portion had fallen over because of the storms. It was a complicated project that required a great deal of finesse. David and his crew did an excellent job and worked in between rain storms to get the wall repaired. We were kept informed every step of the way. The job was expertly finished and the communication was excellent.

Our sump pump needed drainage to the sewer. The team at Ideal Landscape & Concrete was able to install curb drainage for us as well as a portion of the sidewalk that was previously cracked. David and his team were fantastic from beginning till end of our project. Ideal Engineering met all of Foster City requirements for the required work. Ideal also can assist its clients to putting together the required paperwork to obtain a permit. I m glad we used this service. It s a headache I didn t want. Our project wasnt the biggest, but Ideal Landscape & Concrete made me feel like I was the most important client they had. Great job David, Pablo, and team!

We had a great experience with David and his crew, and would hire them again in a heartbeat! David made it clear from the initial site visit that he genuinely wanted to do what was right for our situation. We live in a very hilly part of the peninsula and needed to replace and repair some wooden garden walls, which the previous owner had not properly maintained. Most other contractors complained about how difficult the job site was and used that to jack up their quotes, but not David. He was able to work with our budget and gave us a competitive bid, but right before we could start work the epic January rain storms hit! One of the garden walls completely failed and I had to tarp the entire hillside to stop the erosion. David was able to get his crew working that week as soon as there was a break in the weather. The foreman, Jose, was great and between David and Jose they were able to adapt to the situation. David give us accurate estimates so we werent ever hit with unexpected costs. Jose made sure the new walls had proper drainage and replaced some fractured concrete at the top of the hill to minimize erosion in the future. The crew was tidy and fast, they finished just in time for the next series of January/February storms.

Ideal did a splendid job for us in our back yard. We needed a new drainage system that would send rainwater to the front and we needed to fill in with pavers the portion of the yard that had been lawn, creating hardscape adjacent to the existing stone patio. The teams did excellent work; the price was fair; and David made sure that everything was perfect. Highly recommend.

In 2020 Ideal Landscaping added a sprinkler and installed a new front lawn for me. David was very responsive when I had questions. We worked with Ideal to redo our backyard - removing a previously installed pergola and raised wooden deck, and replacing them with pavers. The entire job was executed quickly and with high quality. The space that we have was not particularly easy to access, and has a number of challenges (shared fence, lemon tree that we want to maintain, challenging point of ingress). Ideal was able to handle these challenges with ease and the outcome is stunning. Were now extremely happy with our backyard.

David and his team did such a fantastic job with our front and backyard! We requested a full greenery clean out in the front and back, along with concrete placement in the front to expand our driveway and more importantly, fix the degradation of the concrete to prevent water pooling near our foundation. The workmanship of this team (headed by Pablo) is amazing and the pictures speak for themselves. To say we are pleased would be an understatement. David was so easy to get a hold of and talk to. We had a positive experience with Ideal and the owner, David who was honest and easy to work with. Our patio project involving: demolition of composite slabs, re-grading flood prone areas, construction of new drains, a paver patio with steps to the house and railroad tie stairs. We chose David because we found him the most frank and grounded in his appraisal of what could be accomplished. No blanket promises or overselling what needed to be done. His quote was also competitive and reasonable. He guided us in making decisions we were waffling on and was respectful of our wishes once we made them. He advised us to remove a row of sick/overgrown trees which was not part of our original plan, but was the right decision. This happened smoothly with a tree contractor he recommended. The project began promptly despite the delay for arranging tree removal. He and his crew were professional and respectful of each other. Jose, Hector and their crew were skilled, orderly and hard working in spite of the hot weather. The only minor issue we had was asymmetric drain placement, likely because they kept the position of our old drains, which we saw too late to adjust. The overall project however turned out great including the railroad tie stairs which were also David s recommendation. We should have had his crew autograph that work of art. The before and after pictures speak for themselves. The crew left our street and driveway cleaner than when they arrived. We are thrilled with the outcome of this long overdue project and wish David and Ideal continued success. On to the next project of replacing our fence and painting our retaining walls!

I recently had my driveway and walk-path replaced by Ideal and from start to finish, the entire experience and outcome has been ideal! David and his team are fantastic. This is our second great experience with David and his team at Ideal. He previously completely redid our front yard and driveway for our house in Redwood City and did a wonderful job, but over the years a tree root had grown and lifted up some of the driveway pavers. Davids team came out and in a timely fashion, dealt with the tree root and put the driveway back the way it was previously. Looks perfect! We will definitely hire him anytime.

I have nothing but amazing things to say about David, Robert, and their crew. We did a pretty big project overhauling our entire backyard and half our front yard. From our first contact, David was super responsive, respectful of our time and availabilities, and quick to give us an accurate estimate. Even when we wanted to change things on the fly, he made sure we were clear of any extra costs (or none) and what those entail. We removed our back deck, side decking staircase, pulled up the lawn and decorative bushes, and installed brand new drip irrigation, huge paver patio, pea gravelled planter box areas, and did concrete front steps, walkway, and side alley. When work started, we saw the same crew the entire time. They were absolutely fantastic. Everyone was very fast, precise, clean, and respectful of our space and vision. Project Management: 5-star David is super organized and works very efficiently with the team. He had given us an overview of the process, from us getting ready the landscaping plan (which he doesn t do) to having the city to come in to figure out some complication and to coordinating his team to proceed with the project. He worked very closely with our landscape designer to finalize the plan for quotation and arrange on-site supervision for hardscape pattern, plant layout and any complications coming up during the project. He also responded very efficiently to the rain delay and change of order we requested to include the sidewalk job. He used his creativity to arrange work that could be done in parallel or could be done whenever the weather allowed. Timeline: 5-Star We were happy with the timeline from the start to finish of the project. First of all, David provided very accurate estimate on the duration. And he and his team worked extremely hard and he maintained very active communication with us, to pull in the date so that the impact of weather, change of order and dependency on permit insurance and city inspection could be minimized. The project started at the beginning of November and was completed by the beginning of January. The team was able to hold on to the original proposed timeline, excluding the raining days when no work could be done. They completely redid my front yard and driveway (hardscape and landscape covering 1000+ sqft, plus the concrete work for the sidewalk and ramp). Cost and Quality: 5-star Ideal Landscape&Concrete s charge was very reasonable. It is on par with a few other quotes I obtained. The quality is exceptional (I am attaching a few pictures at the end of the review), from the overall look down to details that showed the team s craftsmanship. Jose on the team oversaw the work on site, took our requisition and made sure the job got properly done. And at the end, they conducted a walkthrough to ensure the work was completed to our satisfaction.

With the side lighting, they even went a step above and made sure you couldn t see the wiring as it ran along the fence. We really appreciated all the extra touches to quality and detail. Ideal Landscape kept on schedule with no surprises to the original quote and even went above and beyond to add additional improvements and details to ensure we had a yard we d love without going over our budget. I used Ideal Landscape for a large front yard and back yard project. My goals were to create a more usable space, reduce watering waste through better irrigation, and improve the scenery from my windows so my garden could feel like a haven from the outside world. This was critical because my backyard required a lot of grading and needed people who had the right knowledge and expertise. The work also required a lot of custom cutting of pavers and blocks to fit the space. The process started with a discussion about what work needed to be done so they could give me a quote. They were efficient and honest in what could and couldnt be done based on my budget. Once the project got started, we met every day to review the plans for that day and make sure we were in agreement on the details. This daily communication helped avoid surprises and allowed us to make decisions quickly about changes to the original design plans. When we hit snags in the process, like a design plan that didnt quite fit the space or drainage locations that were challenging to implement, Ideal Landscape was great at problem solving and providing options and estimates. The project took about 6weeks to complete. It involved ordering boulders, rocks, pebbles, artificial turf, pavers, wood, bark, plants, lighting, irrigation, and electrical materials. We had to make a lot of decisions everyday about what went where to be sure there were no mistakes. The work unfolded in a very organized and systematic approach. This made it easy to get a feel for what decisions needed to be made when, to keep the project moving forward smoothly. At the end of every day, they also did a thorough job of cleaning up all work areas. On top of the excellent quality of work, I also really enjoyed the company of Ideal Landscapes owner. Robert was pleasant, trustworthy, fair, took pride in his work, and was overall very engaging. I could see that he had experienced every design challenge we faced and felt comfortable with his recommendations. My project ended up being bigger than planned and I didnt know what to expect. But seeing the finished product blew me away. It all came together so well and I love, love, love spending time in the backyard and looking at our front yard from inside the house. For a project this size and scale, it couldnt have gone any better. I am recommending Ideal Landscape to all my friends and family and will definitely go back to them if I ever need more work done.

Ive used Ideal for 2 projects now - they completely transformed the outside of our house. They put in pavers (fabulous job), paved around the driveway, put in gravel for the front yard, and re-paved both side walkways and the back patio. All of it was done perfectly. Ideal did a series of projects for us in late 2019 and early 2020. Retaining wall rebuilding, drainage work and a new driveway. Communication was great, the crew worked hard and also did great work. I felt compelled to write a review in this case, not just because of the work they did, which was solid, as other have noted, but because when there was a problem David stepped up and fixed it, no questions asked, over a year later. High integrity is even harder to find than high quality work.

We are very pleased with the new backyard patio that Ideal Landscape & Concrete put in. David was extremely helpful in coming up with design and materials recommendations and was a pleasure to work with throughout the project. The work was done on time with daily progress reports from David. His employees were very polite and minimized the disruption of the project as much as possible. That was a great experience! I was super lucky to find David via yelp.com to install a French drain in my property. After reading all his reviews, I called David for a quote. He came to my property in the next day and gave me a quote which was reasonable for the work to be done. His quote was similar to the other quote that I had but my gut feeling worked very well this time. Once I signed the agreement, he brought his heavy machinery along with his crew who did an amazing job. They were friendly, knowledgeable, fast and everything looks better than what I was expecting. My geotechnical engineer said that David did more than what he was expecting too and the way the French drain has been installed, will protect my foundation for decades to come. David even used river rocks on top of the gravel to make it look nicer. That, I was not expecting at all and he didn t charge any extra for the river rocks and for using the best and most expensive materials available in the market to protect my foundation. I ll be forever grateful to David and his crew.

We had a great experience with Ideal engineering for our backyard landscape. David was professional and patient with us, and gave some great suggestions. They were respectful when there were differences in design choices, and deferred to our preferences when it was appropriate. Robert and Jose and all the crew did a great job with the soft scape, and was very willing to work with us on even the small details like curvature and how to lay out the specific stones. In the middle of our project, we decided to redo our fence, and they made it work and accommodated our schedule and timeline of the fence company. The crew was kind, and worked fast (I think the job took ~ 4 weeks, where as we got some other companies saying itd take 2-3 months!) Most importantly, we now have a beautiful backyard where the kids can play in and we can enjoy!

We have hired Ideal Landscape twice now. Both times to install pavers in our backyard. The first time we hired him, his crew was perfect. We were under a time crunch and they delivered on time. The work was immaculate and at the last minute, they even extended pavers to our concrete patio creating a nice little pathway that we hadn t thought of. This most recent implementation exceeded even the first instance. We were under timing restrictions and requested several days of No Work due to my wife s taking the California Bar from home requiring the need for silence. David s team was not only accommodating but still delivered on time. And again, the work was incredible. Jose, the crew chief made several suggestions to the initial design that made sense and added to the look. They were fast, professional, and will hire them again and again for any landscaping work.

Ideal Engineering just finished rebuilding our driveway in concrete with brick trim. They did a great job. David and team were very responsive and easy to work with. Can t say enough good things about Ideal, David, and his team. From getting the quote to commencement, the process was easy and straightforward. David is very personable and he makes sure the job is done exactly as we wanted it. We inquired about repacking the backyard with concrete due to cracking which caused leaking into the crawl space. Each project has been done with care, detailed, thorough, honesty, flexibility and pride. But this review is for the most recent project: plants. David A, main contact /owner, gave us a good competitive price when we were looking for other people to do the planting. He also gave advice of what people of our generation like the modern in-style that is popular. The design of the garden was done by another company but Ideal provided the manpower to make it all become a reality. I will definitely work with them again for future projects and will recommend anybody who wants to do landscape or hardscape.

We hired Ideal Landscape to install a french drain, allowing extension of our backyard. They redid our lawn including all new edging and sprinklers. Ideal Landscape was not the cheapest quote I received. However, I am confident that I got what I paid for. Having hired over 10 different subcontractors on my home remodel, Ive learned that communication and quality are what matters most. David and his team excel at both of these. They have come back out a couple of times at no charge to ensure the french drain is clean. They will be the first contractor I call for future projects.

His estimate was between the high in the low, but a really good deal considering he replaced an entire section of walkway, rather than just part of it like other contractors had offered. We had a great experience working with Ideal Landscape. Having worked with many contractors before, we braced ourselves for a stressful situation, but that never ended up being the case. David gave us a solid quote, and even though we changed our minds multiple times through the process, they were patient and worked with us until we were satisfied with our decisions. The end result was 1200 sq ft of beautifully poured cement. Given the sheer size of each panel, we expected there to be cracking, but everything came out beautifully. David and his team are true professionals. We needed a concrete pad for a hot tub and he came to our house for an estimate within days of calling. We received a detailed estimate a couple of days later that was very competitive. David and his crew checked and doublechecked the measurements to make sure they were exactly to the specifications for the hot tub, and made sure we were satisfied before the concrete was poured. The crew was courteous and also meticulous in cleaning up the area when they were finished. David takes pride in his work. We will be sure to call him to landscape the rest of our yard after our renovation is complete.

They did the concrete in my backyard and it was done well. It was a smooth, no hassle experience from start to finish. The work is clean. I needed to make a few detailed decisions during the project. They provided nice guidance on those. David, the owner, and his team are very professional.

David and his team did a great job with our driveway and front porch area. We went with a dark gray concrete and it looks beautiful. Due to the weather in Pacifica, it had a layer of white on top a year after it was poured that did not look good. David came out and said it needed to be sand blasted to get that white layer off. He arranged for the sandblasting and paid to have that done. It now looks much more even in color and is beautiful!
