Literally it's one of the worst experiences I've ever had. No direct to contractor. Can't cancel the service without going through many steps and talking with someone. Had new sod in back yard and contractor went in there and mowed it anyway
Lawn Starter is horrible. They assigned a crew to my house and they never showed up. A second crew was assigned and they only cut the front yard and then they canceled the next two visits. I called their customer service and they said they would send a third crew out the next day and they never showed up. This occured in Rohnert Park, Ca
They were always late when they came, sometimes even at 6pm, also we usually schedule it for beginning of the week and they would no show on the day scheduled, and towards the end of the week they just show up out of nowhere. In the last month, They rescheduled/canceled 3 weeks in a row and when they finally came they left and said the reason was because the grass was too long and they couldn’t do it since they would have to charge a long grass fee of $150. The only reason it’s long is BECAUSE THEY KEPT CANCELING ON US! even when we called the center to schedule it ourselves for 04/12, they said it’s all set, and 3 hours later we got a notification that it’s been rescheduled for more than 10 days out! We called again and requested to change provider and this morning they came and apparently knocked on the door, but we didn’t hear it so my husband called me while he’s at work saying someone is at the door for the grass and I went straight to the door, they were already gone, it’s less than 10 minutes… It has always been even when we were not home they would cut our grass through the gate access to the backyard. So we contacted them again and they said it could take hours to reach the contractor and unsure if we can get it done today. We are really frustrated and irritated with how irresponsible and procreating they are. Do not recommend!
I just moved into my new home and I had no clue how to hire someone to mow the lawn (I am a single mom and mowing the lawn is not one of my skills!). I found LawnStarter online and it was very easy to sign up and get a recurring service started. Samantha comes every 2 weeks to take care of the lawn and she is great! It really helps the curb appeal, and she also gave me suggestions on how to maintain my lawn. You can tell she takes great pride in her work. So happy I found this service, I highly recommend it!
I started using this service since the beginning of the summer. My husband and I usually do the yard work ourselves but we’re both out of commission for a while. I came across this business through the Nextdoor neighbor app. The first cut was at a discounted cost. So I gave it a shot. Let me tell you I love it. The gentleman that comes to cut our yard whose name is Tyler is awesome. He does a wonderful job each and every time. I’ve never had to ask for him to do anything differently. He does it right each and every time. Doesn’t leave a mess. I have to say he does a better job than me and my husband. So thank you Lawn starter for providing us with a wonderful and professional guy to service our yard.
I love using this app. I no longer have to manage my lawn care or worry about if they’re going to show up. One of the reasons I decided to write a review is because I was scheduled to get lawn service and my provider saw that I didn’t need it at the time (due to the season) and skipped my service (and notified me) so that I wouldn’t be charged for unnecessary service. I thought that was awesome. Easy to use and get way to get good, quality lawn care service.
First two cuts went great with the basic service then that crew decided to leave the service. The next crew not so good. That crew bad mouthed the service and said "we don't get paid to do it like that" when I asked to fix their bad work. Additionally the cut and service was inconsistent and always delayed. I wouldn’t wish the service on my own enemies. Stay away. Update: The service will say that I expected services outside the scope of the cut. Let's set the record straight: I wanted the people to mow, they came with a weed wacker and called it a mow, which it is not. Additionally, they then saw my review and asked me to take down the review to not "hurt their ratings" - sorry LawnStarter that's how reviews work and I stand by my statements. Final note for anyone who is looking into this service: I recommend just go with your local lawn care service provider and pay them directly. What this service does is they take a percentage cut off the top to connect lawn crews with clients. You're most likely going to get spotty service and different crews because the people who use this service for jobs don't really put the extra care into the work because it doesn't have their name on it and they use this service to "fill in" when they have breaks in their regular client schedules. Additionally, the spotty/quick service is because the crews that shows up are getting paid less than a 'normal' cut because of the percentage off the top. That's their business model folks and specially why I left the service. Facts are facts.
I love lawn starter! Super easy to schedule someone on the app. They always do a great job and pay attention to detail. The first time we scheduled someone they pushed it back twice so I cancelled them and LawnStarter sent someone else. Much easier than trying to find someone myself.

I was infuriated by the lack of desire to help customers. Service cancelled twice in a row and was asking for help and did not provide. LAWNSTARTER DOES NOT CARE FOR THEIR CLIENTS. Plus the quality of their mowing is garbage. Can i choose negative stars?

On Wednesday 04/13/2022, The contractor showed up at almost 5:00pm and told me he didn t have time to complete any work. He literally gave me a quote and never came back. It is now Saturday Easter weekend 04/16/2022 and I had to call him to find out he isn t coming. My yard is way more over grown and I m probably going to have to pay even more to get it cut. Also, my family and friends have to walk through a jungle! Happy Holidays:(

Tim is my Gardner. I recently met him on my latest mine and he was very professional. I asked me to mow a particular section and he did it without reservation.
Id give them a -5 if it were possible. After receiving un-asked for texts I thought I had signed up with their Rep last Tuesday for a mowing tomorrow, Friday. I called today to confirm tomorrow and they have NO record of my address, name, telephone #, or email address! The person I spoke to today has a shoe size number larger than her IQ, and apparently so does the person who supposedly signed me up on Tuesday. Oh yes, and a manager was too busy to speak with me today ... probably overwhelmed with complaints! You have been fore-warned!
This service is a Godsend! My previous service charged too much & did too little. My LawnStarter crew has never failed to communicate promptly, show up when scheduled & do an excellent job on my lawn and hedges. I am so glad I found LawnStarter!!

The convenience of using the app makes the service worthwhile. Any issues are dealt with promptly and satisfactory. While the service is a little pricey, the client service is worth it.
I have used this service twice now and I am so happy with it. We are currently doing bi-weekly but my husband wants to change it to weekly because they do such a great job and it s been raining so much lately. I highly recommend this if you are looking for easy communication and set up process. I don t have to worry if they are showing up it s been such a stress relief for my husband knowing he has one less thing to worry about.

After a rocky start, my lawn is looking the best it has looked in two months. I am hopeful for great service from now on. Failed to show up for the last appointment. They are now going to be a week late. If you want your lawn done on a weekly basis, get someone else. Follow through is a failure.

LawnStar contacted me before they arrived as I asked them to put my dogs up and open my gate. They arrived and the 2 gentlemen got started and mowing my yard. They finished the mowing, maintenance very quickly and cleaned the grass up and finished. I received the txt they were done. It was a wonderful job my second mow from them and very satisfied with the work I received.
They have been very responsive to my requests and my lawn always looks great. Price is reasonable.

HORRIBLE service and overall just not worth the hassle
LawnStarter has been great for helping me fill in the slower days that I have on my schedule with some new customers who mainly just want a quick mow & blow type of service!
They said my small yard would be mowed Tuesday or Wednesday and nothing happened. I contacted the landscaper directly and he said he had no idea about it. He said Lawnstarter is trash and I agree. I asked for a refund and they tried to tell me dont worry we will get it done next week. Yeah right. Garbage.

I was so stoked when I got the news that Lawnstarter was expanding to San Diego. I had used them when I lived in Austin for the summer, and had been nagging them to bring their lawn service to San Diego ever since. They are simply the best option when it comes to lawn mowing services. If you have gotten lawn care in San Diego, you know how the industry is - plagued with illegitimate businesses calling themselves lawn care companies, but not actually having insurance or paying taxes. God forbid you want to pay with a credit card. Lawnstarter changes all of that. Sure, it costs a little more than paying your lawn guy cash, but the convenience is well worth the small premium. Here s why. First, the ordering is seamless. You can get a lawn mowing quote online using their checkout tool, which pulls data from Zillow s api to get pricing. Secondly, they actually come on the same day every week. There s nothing that ticks me off more than the lawn guy coming sporadically. Third, all the lawn care companies they work with have been vetted and insurance checked. Finally I just love supporting a tech startup that s revolutionizing the lawn industry. I give Lawnstarter 5 stars and would recommend to anyone.
LawnStarter is a great option if you need lawn care in San Diego (unfortunately they dont go too far into the burbs just yet). I have tried other online scheduling solutions and LawnStarter is definitely a cut above the rest.
