Cut King Lawn Care in Royal Oak

In the summer I was trying to plan ahead for snow removal at two of my small apartment buildings. When I called they said I had to fire my current lawn company so they could take over my cutting for the remainder of the season in order to lock them in for snow removal, I did. Sunday night a Tenant reached out asking why the snow has never been done. When I called the office they told me they do not do commercial properties, yet they have been doing the lawn service. I am now trying to find a company to do these properties mid-season......I would not recommend them.

I quickly realized there was no way I could maintain my lawn myself and decided to hire Cut King. It has been three years now and I probably could cut my own lawn now but THAT S how much I like this company. They have always maintained professionalism and their employees are very kind and courteous to my property. After going through two other services who were either lacking in quality or inconsistent we found Cut King Lawn Care about 3 years ago and Im so happy we did. They do an amazing job on our front and back lawn as well as our hedges and bushes. Were a household thats unable to maintain our lawn ourselves (due to my injuries and my moms age) so a consistent service is vital to us and the value of our home. Service started off great. Was suppose to mow 9-29 and couldnt because we had roofers here which I understand but expected them to come back sometime within the week to mow after several phone calls. It was a sunny week. They didnt come until today 14 days, since last mowing. Today, 10-6. I have clumbs of grass, edging not completed, grass is all over my neighbors basement windows that I now will have to clean. There is a gouge in the lawn down to the dirt in front lawn. I feel the service doesnt want to go the extra mile they did in the beginning. Im so dissappointed with the change in attitude. I really thought we finally found a great lawn service. I wish I had photos of when they first started mowing my lawn to share to compare to what I took today. I understand it rains and they may be short staffed? But waiting two weeks to mow leaves huge amounts of grass that I have to clean up after the Service is done. Going to get my blower out now to clean up the mess after I finish edging along the fence.

Very unprofessional customer service and very rude people. Called them to let them know that they are cutting my grass without me having a subscription with them and I was going to ask them how much they would charge for servicing my lawn. The guy I talked to on the phone started telling me that they are not supposed to do that and that I should go tell the workers to stop cutting the grass. Instead of giving me a good service and winning me as a customer he started talking to me in a rude way. I do not recommend them after that call.

My Husband and I have been looking and looking for a good Lawn Care Company to cut Our grass and Im so thankful I came across Cut King Lawn! The Gentleman who cut Our grass did a phenomenal job and Our grass looked like a jungle before he did it, lol. He was very pleasant when I thanked him! The gentleman who cut my lawn today noticed a patch of lawn where new grass was growing and he mowed around it. I have used this service for years and they are VERY dependable

Not reliable. They sent me a quote and said will come cut my grass , but they never showed up. They did not return any of my calls and voice messages and did not respond to any of my text messages over the span of a week. Ended up hiring another company after one week of time wasted and frustration. Very unprofessional. You can at least respond to a text message and say you wont take the job and that would have been perfectly fine with me. But to completely ignore a potential client is something else.

They destroyed my flower beds that are clearly marked then cut into my ground cover like they are drunk or high! Don t trust these guys. I contacted them and they just didn t reply or show up to mow. Unprofessional and unreliable! They show up in evenings and weekends when I have guests!

Kevin the owner genuinely cares about the business, is very responsive and they do a wonderful job. We used them for 3 years while in Michigan. When we moved out I received an invoice and emailed him to pay it (as I was under the impression they cut our lawn) and he notified me there was an error, it was too hot to cut, and that I did not owe them anything. Hard to find honesty like this, especially when the owner knows I was moving out, believed I owed them money, and could have just taken the payment. Would recommend the company to anyone.

We used these guys for a few years, they were reliable. They helped us with a couple other cleanup projects (a debris pile and fall cleanup a couple times). They are really cryptic about fall cleanup pricing and scheduling, to the point where I was frantically calling other places in December to find other options (despite booking it in September...) only for them to show up a couple days before 6 of snow would have made it a nightmare, and although they refused to estimate cleanup prices, we found them to be fair about what they ultimately did charge. We did not renew Mowing Services this year after a third rate hike in as many years. Purchased our own mower, and the way our yard looks this year managing it on our own is just worlds ahead of when they were taking care of it. The quality of their cuts was always... rushed? Never any edging, lots of ruts from where they went too fast in wet areas, always cut real low leading to dieoff during dry periods, and in general they were always flying around the yard. I was going through photos recently and found the one I attached - they frequently destroyed out back yard with zero point turn mowers on soft spots. I called and complained about it a few times, theyd be careful for a week or two, then bam, just rut the whole thing out again. I now have a mower similar to the ones they use and somehow manage to avoid doing this in the same conditions. The other big gripe I had about these guys was their we only mow when it needs it! schtick. They say that a bunch during the offseason and when you go to setup service - that theyre professionals and they know not to cut during the dry season or if the grass doesnt need it (they justify higher prices by saying hey, keep in mind you wont pay this every week!). However, all 3 years we had them, they were out here cutting the grass on April 1 and never missed a cut in the height of summer when the grass was dead. This year, I mowed two times prior to Memorial day. They would have already charged me for six cuts by then (both my neighbors gagged on me about this). Likewise, the last year we did have them, I tried to call in a couple do not cut next week, we want a week off requests (which they say are NO PROBLEM AT ALL!) I made the request on a Tuesday after they cut on a Monday to skip next week. The next Monday they came and cut like normal; when I called, the same manager was like well, yes, I recall your request via voice AND I see your email here, but if we cut it, you have to pay... I told him this was unacceptable, and then got a call back from the owner saying Well, it was me who came and cut your grass, and I thought you needed it, so I went ahead and cut it... I guess Ill go ahead and eat the cost for that one. Somehow that was my fault? I dunno... figure out what youre doing before you tell me you do it so well. That photo I stumbled on is really what reminded me how insane some of their cuts were...

Cut Kings has never let me down and I recommend them to everyone I know. I have never once had a bad experience and have been beyond satisfied every time. With my last lawn company, I experienced multiple no shows and always got the runaround - on multiple occasions they would claim it was for weather on the sunniest of days with no clouds in the sky. Even got a ticket from the city once because of these no shows. Cut Kings always shows up and always does a great job. Couldnt be happier that I switched. Travis does an incredible job every time. Im not a customer but saw them cutting grass and decided to look them up. Im giving 5 stars for their awesome responses to negative reviews!! The responses are great! But seriously their crew did a good job on the yard I saw them at.

Unorganized, Unprofessional, Poor customer service, and sloppy work. I started services with cutking in August. On the 2nd week they were schedule to cut my lawn, one of the workers rang my ring doorbell while I wasn t home and asked if I wanted my lawn cut because it had not grown out long. I told them that we could wait until the following week. When I was billed, they still charged me for the week that I didn t receive a cut. Not to mention, I had been waiting for a bill from them and when I finally received it they said it was past due, and it was ONLY because they had been sending my invoice to some random unknown email address that I never gave them. Once that was corrected and I received the invoice, I told them that there was a week that I was billed for that shouldn t be on my bill. I emailed and called. When they responded by email, they said they must believe there worker who said all the weeks were accurate and that if I didn t want to pay for that week that they wouldn t be able to continue services. I REFUSE to pay for a service that I did not receive. It s less about the money and more about the principal and the lack of integrity of this company and their workers. They were not apologetic or caring. It s just a take it or leave it type of attitude. The lack of accountability or true concern is what will cause this company to lose customers. I never write reviews but I was so shocked at how I was handled and how they never even went as far as to ask me any questions, but just jump on the side of their employee. ALSO, the cuts we received were always always sloppy and the service ended just in time because they were a complaint away from me ending services due to the quality of service. They always blew the leftover grass right into the bed of our landscaping and always did a quick job instead of a quality job. I ll be paying what I owe and moving to a more organized company that values their customers.

Generally reliable for lawn mowing, however, last year we were scheduled for a fall clean up, they never showed, nor did they let us know they werent coming. This year I was invoiced for cuttings that never took place, as I watched the crew cut the yard across the street, then leave before cutting our yard. Resolving this matter was unpleasant.

Ive used Cut King for my Lawn Care needs since becoming a first time home owner in 2018. Ive never cut a lawn in my life, so its super convenient for me to have them come once a week to cut. Very reasonable owner and the guys that come to work on the lawn are polite and super efficient. If I ever need extra work done, I just call up Kevin and let him know and we work out something always reasonable and always taken care of next trip. Also payment is convenient (digital or auto pay) and they ve been polite when Ive accidentally forgotten to process my payment. I think it happened 2-3 times last year where it just slipped my mind to pay and honestly it would ve been reasonable for them to be irritated w me, but the owner called and just helped me set up auto pay. Nice guy. You got my business for life! 10/10 would recommend.

Cut King Lawn Service has been taking care of one of my houses for a few years, their prices are fair and the responsiveness and speed of services is just right. I have a small lawn that does not grow a lot of grass due to shade and tree cover, when it is evident that the back yard does not need to be cut then they will not cut it and therefore not charge for that service, this is not only completely fair but also very honest! I utilize lawn maintenance, leaf maintenance, gutter maintenance, and snow removal and will continue to do so as time goes on. I absolutely recommend trying them to see if they fit your lawn needs.

DO NOT HIRE! I agreed to their services for the season after having used them for a few years. However, their crew recently cut down our flower beds two weeks in a row. I let the first instance go, but the second was unacceptable. I contacted them to let them know about both instances and that this was unacceptable. I asked that they return a call to discuss how to meet our needs and instead they sent a final invoice. Never hire these professionals.

Edited for corrections: Cut king took 10 days, not 2 weeks to come and cut my lawn. I called 5 days after the initial call and like you pointed out, we got a lot of rain - my concern that I voiced was that yall would be walking into an overgrown lawn if you continued to delay the cut. Despite that yall delayed another 5 days to come cut. Its not my responsibility as the consumer to set your schedule or quality of work, which were both awful. How does leaving my grass clippings on my patio for me to clean up make my lawn look spectacular as you stated? Its really unprofessional to get into a pissing match and then lie on a customer review. When I voiced my concerns Cut King could have made the issue right, but instead decided it was too much work for them and theyd rather not have the business. I encourage some additional PR training for your staff as this response has been laughable, would give 0 stars if I could following your response. If you cared for your customers half as much as you did about trying to play the good guy in your google reviews, youd probably have more recurring business. /End of edits. They took close to 2 weeks to come to my house for the first cut, and I had to call to verify they were still coming at all. The lawn had streaks of tall grass where they missed their lines, the edging was jagged and uneven, and they left all of the cuttings on my back patio/seating area requiring me to go out with a broom to sweep after them. Manager didn t care about the subpar service and took another 5 days to respond to my inquiry. There s better lawn care services for cheaper in the area, definitely avoid cut king.

Great first impression. Kevin answered the phone and was able to give me a price quote for my moms lawn cutting just a few days later. Most companies you call either dont answer the phone or return your call. He was able to fit my mom into his schedule and she was very pleased with her first cutting today, she said they were very efficient. Thanks again Kevin for your professional service! These guys are great! Fair price for the area and they do a nice job with my small lawn. They offer a lot of services to accommodate all. The guys that care for my lawn are really friendly and courteous - they have even brought in my trash cans when they cut on trash day. They are honest about their work too -- If they show up to cut and the grass did not grow much in the past week, they will skip a week without charge. Looking forward to continuing to use them!

Last year was my first year with Cut King. I travel for work and need someone do dependably for the job without me being there. They do a wonderful job for a reasonable price. There have been times I have been out of town, and the lawn didn t need cut, but I didn t know that. They had the integrity not to mow and didn t charge, even though I wouldn t have known! That is service!

Ive had Cut King Lawn Service for a few years, starting with vacation only calls. I then had them cut every two weeks ending with a couple years of permanent weekly service. I highly recommend them as they are very dependable and very punctual. I was always able to count on them no matter the weather. They never took advantage and my lawn always looked great!

Second year using Cut King and they do a great job for a very reasonable price. They will use their judgement whether or not to cut each week dependent on growth which is nice. We also used them for mulching and weeding at the beginning of the season and they did a great job. Kevin is prompt at responding to email and payment is made so easy with Venmo. I use them for lawn mowing only. A few companies wouldnt mow parts of my lawn because of a narrow gate, but CKLC would. They do a good job, skip weeks when the grass just doesnt need cutting, and clean up after themselves well. The trimming always looks nice and neat, even on a lawn thats less than perfect. A couple of times their mowers have scalped part of the lawn, but a quick note to them and it was corrected right away. No complaints on how they handle complaints either. Their prices are good and their additional services offered really help around the yard.

LOVE these guys! They even will skip a week if they think the grass is too short to cut that week, which not only saves money but is good for the lawn. One week I had forgotten to remove a small fence around our trailer and their guy not only removed it in order to get to the grass behind it, he put it back! Highly recommend Kevin and his team.

I sent Kevin 200 dollars for bi weekly cuts, and he ensured me that he would make it out during the week for my first cut, and he never did or had any intentions to. Very poor communication and terrible customer service skills. You would think in a service related job that communication would be a priority for him but apparently not. The only positive experience I had was that he refunded my money instantly. I do not reccommend Cut King. Terrible ! ALSO I noticed that the owner is RUDE and ARGUES with people that leave him a bad review. I bet hell do that on this review. Laughable, totally unprofessional !

I found Cut-King and read a bunch of positive reviews and called for a quote/availability. Much to my surprise the phone was actually answered, given an instant quote and we hired the same day. We have had two weekly cuts now and we are very happy with quality of the work. Thank you Cut-King! We are so happy to have found you!

Contacted Kevin 5/28 about cutting my lots. First he couldn t find my address in Ferndale...then I was told he would go out and cut the lots. It s 6/11 and the lots still have not been cut. I contacted him multiple times and still no response. I would steer clear from this business until they have the man power to meet the local demand.

Used Cut King for over 2 months and was not satisfied with their service, so terminated their service. To their credit, they did mow the lawn every week and lawn looked good. However, they were cutting it shorter than promised. Agreement was for Cut King to cut lawn at 3.75 inches in the summer which is an ideal length for grass health. It also substantially reduces the watering bill by about 35% as compared to watering grass that is 3 tall which is the length they cut it at (see TURFCHECK II picture taken the same day they cut the grass). When I spoke with the owner and noted that his crew was cutting the lawn too short (3 inches - based on an accurate grass height measuring tool - they do exist) and requested the lawn be cut at 3.75 inches, his crew ignored the request. After speaking with the owner a second time on same subject a few weeks later and securing agreement again, this request was once again ignored by his crew. Additionally, after posting a large sign on my lawn requesting the same, crew again ignored request. Bottom line is that Cut King appears unable to listen to and execute very basic requests.

Quoted and cut the same day I contacted the company. I highly recommend them to anyone in need of lawn care.

We have used Cut King for regular lawn and snow removal service, gutter cleaning, and seasonal cleanup. The work has always been completed in a timely manner and weve been very happy with the quality of service. Our lawn is never cut when it doesnt need it (and we arent charged). We were incredibly impressed with the snow removal service as our drive was often completed before we needed to leave for work. Extra care was also taken to come into our backyard and clear a path between our house and our detached garage.

I used this company because of the great ratings. However, I am incredibly disappointed. I expressed my concerns and gave the team an opportunity to clean up the mess they left behind. They did come back promptly, but did very little to improve what I requested to have corrected. A gentleman even called to confirm what I wanted and again, only did half the job. After spending a good 45 mins raking the sticks leaf blown into my fence and the lawn on both sides of my fence, I walked around my house to notice the edging leftovers shoved up along my house. This is incredibly lazy and disappointing. Definitely overcharged for the service I received.

This company and the staff are fantastic. Hired them after my fathers existing lawn service kind of flaked out. I live out of state and have to help my father with arranging services, and Cut King made my life easier (and when they first saw the lawn that hadnt been cut for a few weeks, they jumped right in and cut it, even though Im sure the last thing they wanted to do was tackle an overgrown lawn late in the day).
