Over the past two years, we ve hired Hartigan Outdoors for three projects 2 hardscaping projects and 1 landscaping project. In each case, we ve found their price estimates to be competitive, and the end results have been great. We appreciate the fact that Jack is very responsive and highly focused on customer satisfaction -- quickly resolving any issues/concerns. We plan to have them back for 2 more projects this year and would recommend them as a solid, dependable partner for outdoor services.

This company is the worst I ever dealt with they charged me $ 830.00 to fix my grass for 0 result, I called the office to complain, after few days they sent somebody to take a look and he asked me about the invoice and if he can keep it untill Next visit. And that they would fix that in few days he never answered my phone call. i also didnt get back my invoice. So I promised them I will contact the better business bureau they took MY COPY of the invoice so there wouldnt be any proof

I had Hartigan blow out my irrigation system last fall. They were very prompt and completed the process in a timely manner. I will definitely use their service again!

Unprofessional. Still finding the crews cigarette butts in the work and surrounding areas. The retaining wall we ordered was not done as planned. They walled off our backyard when it was supposed to open it up. Bricks were busted up and the wall was crooked. When we asked for it to be fixed, the crew very reluctantly offered to fix the small part that was crooked. It still hasnt been fixed 2 years later. No supervisor was ever present. We paid $15K for this wall and need to spend a ton more to have it fixed now. I would not use Hartigan again, nor recommend them to anyone. Oh, and after reading the other reviews, I will post my invoice here if Hartigan replies with there is no record of you in our system. Thats a clever line guys.

We have transitioned irrigation service to Hartigan Irrigation. From scheduling, to service and quality of work both Karen and Ron were awesome to work with. Our irrigation system is ready to roll with all maintenence done at start up. Thank you for your excellent work!

Would highly recommend Hartigan Outdoors for your landscaping projects. I have worked with several other landscape companies in the past at prior houses and communication has been poor with other companies. The communication from everyone we worked with at Hartigan Outdoors was fantastic. They did great work, kept the job site tidy at the end of each day. The workers on site were always willing to stop to chat, answer questions, and were very courteous when we needed them to move vehicles to get in and out of our driveway.

I do not plan on using Hartigan again. I hired them to remove the edging and wood chips from where a play set use to be. They were to then fill the space with black dirt and seed it. There was also one bush that was to be dug up and a new one replanted. Two college freshman home on summer break came to do the job. There was not enough black dirt ordered to fill in the space so the yard is still not even in that area and a tripping hazard. I had to reseed the space the following summer as there was not enough seed used originally. They made a huge mess removing the bush and needed guidance on how to plant a new one. They then watched me move the rocks and mulch back around the new bush. I would have been better off doing this entire project myself.

No one does it better than Hartigan Outdoors. If you live around the MN Metro Area Hartigan has you covered for all outdoor service needs. We ve used Jack and his team on multiple different projects. From paver patios and concrete to Landscaping and pool side projects. Even fall clean ups for our own personal homes and mowing! Terrible company to hire.just over 2 years I have been dealing with this company to get my landscaping correct to the specs that they sold me at the beginning of the job. Over $80k spent and my landscape job is not complete and now my patio looks like this(picture below). I advise nobody to hire this company unless you like incomplete or improper work where if there s a shortcut these guys will take it. Don t forget the 4 managers I have been passed through and they are on a new one again. BBB complaint and court is in the works. He tells me to call him but he now has me blocked. Not sure when this happened

I don t typically write positive reviews, as professionalism and good service should be the standard, and it is much easier to complain. That being said, Hartigan Outdoors has been an outstanding company to work with. The work performed has been nothing but outstanding, and the professional approach by both Danielle and Robyn in the front office has been refreshing to say the least. I reached out to Hartigan outdoors with many questions last summer, and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM. My overall budget was $150K and they didn t let the project go over $130K. I admire their integrity, honesty and professionalism. Truthfully, I reached out with very little details as my original landscape company back out due to personal issues, but the person who answered the phone at Hartigan, Robyn. Oh my gosh! She was SO PROFESSIONAL!asked me all the right questions and then put me in touch with Jack Hartigan himself. Jack met with me 2 days later, within 3 business days I received an estimate that had all of my wants. Unfortunately, life happened and some unexpected expenses came up, but Jack and his team provided different options, and made me feel very comfortable with order changes. Danielle in the billing department was very thorough with the work order changes and balances throughout the project. Manuel, the operations manager was wonderful to work with and he was here frequently making sure his team was taken care of with cold drinks during the heat of summer. I was referred to Hartigan Outdoors in 2022 by my neighbor, but I didn t sign with them until early 2023. My sister and couple of neighbors had a great experience with them as well. I was impressed to hear that they still had my records and Jack remembered the details of my project. Maybe because I was so picky. :-) Most of our family are snow birds, and love the South American heat, so we only get to enjoy our home for 5 months out of the year and our neighbors and family love it when we host. I will be a customer again, because they can walk the talk! My boulder wall, and paver patio, and fire pit turned out better than I imagined. Thank you so much! Liz!

Great Company, Very Responsive!

I would not recommend this company for anything more complicated than basic lawn care. Workers showed up without instructions. A supervisor only came to the site after I called and requested it because there were problems. My siding was damaged and broken glass was left in my yard. Large flagstones were just left on the soil and not dug in/set properly. The finished job was sloppy and met the bare minimum of what had been promised.

We found Miguel and Anthony at Hartigan Outdoors to be very helpful, friendly, and courteous. They went out of their way to help us find what we needed for our landscaping project. They have an easily accessible location on Highway 3. Buzz and Linda Anderson Positive

Super happy with the outcome of our hardscape project with Hartigan Outdoors!

I reached out initially in 2020 for a quote for the work we needed and since it was more than we budgeted, we decided to do some of it ourselves. Eventually, we had the work done in summer of 2022 and the total cost was close to $20,000. I had specifically asked Jack that I don t want this work to be sub-contracted and that trust, aesthetics and integrity were the most important aspects for me. Needless to say, we were very disappointed. My experience is this: - Paid premium price for manual labor and sub-standard work - This company seems to have a small core (experienced) crew, which is sent for select projects and everyone else gets sub-contracted services/crew who don t have the concept of landscaping but can possibly do well the work they are told to do by the manager. The crew at our place - Overpromised and underdelivered - Lots of measurements and pictures taken but they didn t mean anything since the crew was unprepared and the project manager/foreman had no clue and didn t have the details - Sub-standard sod was used multiple times and eventually I had to remove about 100 sq ft of rotted sod. The grading was not done correctly and without prepping the base layer - The person installing the pavers was good at what he did but he had to cut corners because he was advised with the wrong measurements and incomplete details. - The foreman was mostly missing; there was no advance notification and the crew would show up and say that I must have received it 15 minutes before they were coming - poor management and communication - When I brought my concerns with the company and Jack, I would receive canned responses. - The third time the sod-fixing was being done, it was funny to see how it was being done almost as if they were finishing off a quilt with spare pieces of fabric. - Sprinkler head broken and left on the lawn and I didn t receive any notification from them - They used heavy equipment on a rainy day without making sure the existing lawn was protected, leaving the soil compressed and I am still fixing that. - Cracks are showing up on the pavers and I will have to remove a good chunk of those this season and redo - I had asked them to help with a couple of minor tasks since they were already in the area and I was willing to pay, if deemed necessary. They actually made it worse for me and even when I asked them to forget about them, they insisted they could do it. I had to rush out to prevent them from taking out the raised bed structure that I put together after a different crew the previous day messed it up. I don t regret going with Hartigan for my yard needs because that was my decision, I am disappointed that my trust - which I gave freely, was broken. Our hard earned and saved money for this project was spent and the results were not satisfactory or of acceptable standard or to the expectations that we agreed on. I have been familiar with this company since the time they were doing miscellaneous yard work. I was impressed as they grew to Hartigan Lawn and Landscaping and then to Hartigan Outdoors. I wanted to support a local business and decided whenever I will have any yard/landscaping needs, I will go with them. The consolation I have is that I helped the company pay their bills and enabled their growth. If you have a choice, don t go with this company, especially if it is not the core crew and don t trust what they say, specifically about landscaping since they are very inexperienced and definitely dont fulfill their commitments.

Judging by the other reviews and my own experience, it looks very hit or miss with Hartigan Landscaping. The ladies who work in the office seem exceptionally nice. Unfortunately the majority of whom you deal with are not so great. I had a classic over-promise/under-deliver experience with them. The workers were seemingly nice to me, but when they thought I wasnt looking (I have security cameras), I noticed them taking all kinds of shortcuts and doing shoddy work. When I complained about it, they started laying into me and told their boss Jack that I was harassing them. Jack defended them without question and was very arrogant and difficult about it. Then they up-charged me for about $5000 extra after the work was about 75% completed. So try your luck with them, maybe youll have a better experience. As for me - No Way!

We are EXTREMELY pleased with the patio and retaining wall that Hartigan Outdoors installed for us. From the initial walk thru with Jack, the planning walk thru with Miguel, and the constant communication with the installers, the whole team was receptive to our requests and were very flexible to ensure we got the result we wanted. Not having a super detailed plan for what exactly we wanted, we relied on the expertise of the foreman and the workers to give us some ideas and feedback. It was very clear that they knew what they were doing because their recommendations were spot on and the patio looks great. I was very impressed with how quickly they worked and completed the project in a timely manner as well. We would definitely work with these guys again and will refer them to friends. If you need any work done, but arent sure exactly what you want, Id encourage you to reach out to them and get an estimate at least. Ask for some feedback and see if they can give you some creative ideas for your project. It worked out for us.

WARNING!!!!! NEVER AGAIN Hired Hartigan to do two different projects. We got a start date of Aug 14th, however they changed it to Aug 21st ( no big deal) I gave Jack specific information about the project and they failed that request. They came back the next day to redo it. At that time we were happy. They said they would come back later that week to do the second project. Days, weeks, and even months went by with zero communication. I called, texted, and emailed Jack with the response of I will pass the information on We hired someone else to complete the project. December 4th, I received a text message from the project manager. I was really not impressed by Jack and his business practices. Save your money Rosemount neighbors and DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!!!

My husband cut down a dead tree in our backyard. We hired Hartigan Outdoors to remove the wood piles. After the wood piles were removed they cleaned up the mess on the lawn. I was impressed. Totally thought I had my day planned as I was thinking the clean up would be my job!! Thanks Hartigan for going above and beyond!

we hired this company to sod the (backyard) of our property we had an 8:00am appointment both days,first day only 1 guy showed up around 9:30am no phone call i didn`t know he was here until i heard the backup beeper on the bobcat but it was too late he had already started ripping up the front yard but they did fix it the rest of the crew didn`t show up till around 11:00am. they were very nice but hard to understand, didn`t speak english very well Ervin showed up a little while later and things got rolling the second day 8:00am appointment they over an hr. late i didn`t see Ervin at all that day. but the sod looks nice and the crew worked there butts off, the cleanup wasn`t very good, sorry but the worst was the huge lack of communication all around.

I hired this company out to do lawn care at a property and they rescheduled me 4 times. They never answer their phone and finally I got a cell number from one of them and started calling/harrassing her to get things done for me. Owner never called me after leaving messages for himself to call me. I will never use them again.

This company came out to do sod on our yard. They no showed the first time. Then the next two times rescheduled at last minute. They finally showed up for the fifth appointment time. They broke sprinkler heads when removing old weeds and grass, buried heads and left them that way, cut my neighbors internet wire which was marked, went into my neighbors yard and cut there grass and didn t even install side in a straight line down property. The people working where slower than molasses and took way more breaks than I have ever seen a landscape team do. I would not recommend using them or use them myself again.

Team works extremely hard! We had a few changes to the location of retaining wall and the curve futures, and they were willing to accommodate. They communicate very well.

Hartigan Outdoors landscaped our entire front yard. This includes replacing flowers, shrubs, trees and all the sod. It was an extremely easy process and I appreciated all the workers paying attention to detail and making everything just the way I wanted it.

Great experience from design through installation. We decided to completely re-do all of our landscaping which included installation of landscape lighting, a water feature, reconstruction of stone retaining wall, the replacement of rubber edging with stone edging and the replacement of all shrubs, flowers, trees and sod. This was a very large project and Hartigan Outdoors came through and completed it. The workers were courteous, professional, and sought my input with questions. The project was completed as it was designed so I highly encourage use of Hartigans Outdoors designer (GreenPete) if you are thinking of a complete landscape redo. Overall, I am thoroughly impressed with the work done and all neighbors that routinely walk by comment on how nice the project turned out! Thank you, Jack and the team that worked on our project!

We are very happy with the work they did: cleaning the yard, taking down some overgrown bushes and trees, planting new plants. The crew was professional, kept us informed at all times, the work was done timely.

I contracted Hartigans to haul away thousands of pounds of river rock from the garden beds around the perimeter of our home, and bring in several cubic yards of mulch to fill the void for a more natural look that allows for easier planting and mowing. They completed the project in a very reasonable two days and even went above and beyond when I asked, at the last minute, if the workers could take some of the mulch and bring it to different spots in my yard.

Hartigan Outdoors is the best company I have ever dealt with-- used them for landscaping, tree removal, snowplowing, and lawn maintenace. They do what they say they will and it is done on time by polite effecient employees. Jack is the most ethical person you will meet and pricing is very reasonable!

I was looking to have my lawn aerated and overseeded and Hartigan is close and local. The receptionists at Hartigan were responsive and answered most of my questions. I was curious what kind of seed they used, and they eventually got back to me to let me know. I was curious whether I d be able to have a different kind of seed than the standard Gerten s sun and shade (bluegrass blend). I was told that one of the foreman would be able to answer, but a couple weeks had gone by and my follow-up calls were getting answered with they re busy and will get back to you shortly . In the meantime, I was getting emails almost daily asking me to confirm my quote. I figured that I d not worry about the variety of seed, and confirmed the quote. I followed up with Hartigan and I was told that they would be out later in the fall (specifically, late September or October) to do the aeration and overseed. I was expecting that they d be out when I was told, but suddenly, on 8/24/22, I got a text and email saying that my service had been completed. I was expecting them to come later, and I was definitely not ready for them. My wife spoke with the person that did the service and she was told that we should ve received an email telling us that they would be coming to do our yard. I didn t receive any message, and I checked my spam/junk email and there was nothing. Had I been given any notice to expect Hartigan, I was going to remove my downspouts and mark some spots for them to avoid, like my well head and some freshly seeded spots, but my wife had to scramble to show them stuff and get things moved. Two of the large freshly seeded spots and the well head, as well as one of our plastic splash blocks were run over. On the whole, the person that came out did a pretty good job and there are lots of plugs and seeds on the ground. I m just disappointed at the lack of communication from Hartigan. I d likely use them again, but I d really appreciate better communication and follow up.

What an amazing company to work with. First the first time I inquired about services to the end, everything was easy. The follow through and great work is equally impressive. The guys that did the work were so great! I could not have had a better experience. Thank you for putting out quantity work and quality workers.

Save yourself the time and headache and go with a different landscaping crew. I hired them to fertilize, aerate, and seed my lawn for a season so I could focus on other things, wish Id just done it myself. Unsure if this company is run by children or what but the communication is abysmal. As other bad reviews will tell you... you never know when theyre going to show up or what service theyll be doing. Not even asking for an exact day and time, maybe just let you know what week theyll be out. The only thing they dont have any issues with is sending an invoice immediately after service, and if youre lucky someone might pick up when you call to take your credit card info so you can pay.

Lawn looks great!

Used Hartigan earlier this summer for a landscaping project and liked the company so much that we also used them for a fall clean-up service. There isnt a leaf left on the lawn or flower beds. Looks great!

They didn t show up to do my fall cleanup, and promised a date over 4 weeks ago. This has happened 3-4 years in a row. Go with someone else.

I employed Hartigan Outdoors for lawn service for the first time in 2022. The experience was less than satisfactory. Lack of communication was the major issue. There were numerous unanswered phone messages, email messages and service requests. Requests regarding spring and fall cleanup were also ignored. I have a fence on my property. The grass and weeds grew to 10 at times. I attempted to find out the person in charge of the crew, however again, my inquiry was not answered. I finally had to talk directly to the crew myself. At the end of the season I sent a letter to Hartigan s owner to express my concerns and asked for a response but never received one. I suggest you go elsewhere for your lawn service. I will not contract with Hartigan again.

Unprofessional, do not waste your time or money with this company! Lacks training, professionalism and communication! Owner lacks experience and management skills. Lawn crew leader was yelling at employee on job, what he was yelling about was not accurate. Obvious no management experience and a thrill of being in power. It was disgusting! Not something I wanted to explain to my children. They treat their customers just as poorly.

The Hartigan Team did an excellent job laying down 12+ yards of mulch. They were very careful not to damage plants and covered all of required areas very precisely. Thank you for a job well done.

We have used Hartigan Outdoors on two occasions, first to remove unsightly landscaping timbers and a built up area and return it to sod. We also used them to repair damage done by vehicles driving over our lawn. On both occasions we found the work was done timely and professionally. The employees were courteous, responsive and a pleasure to work with.

Hartigan lawn always does such a beautiful job on our lawn. They are very responsive to emails and willing to answer lawn questions.

I have used Hartigan Lawn and Landscaping a few times now, and I have been very pleased with the quality of work done as well as the fair pricing!

Im sure this company does a fantastic job with commercial lawn maintenance and landscaping but they really need to rethink their residential strategy. Not only does it take them a long time to finish an average lot, they use commercial grade machinery that resounds throughout the entire neighborhood. Within seconds all the dogs are barking, kids are no longer napping, and those of us sitting indoors almost have to put in ear plugs to drown out the noise! Just when you think its over, the leaf blowers come out! I dont even think you can call them that, they are more like amplified turf destroyers and they have at least 4 people running these machines at such a leisurely pace its excruciating. There are other lawn maintenance companies in the area that do just as good of job but use residential appropriate machinery in an respectful decibel range. So while you may have a nice looking yard, you wont have any neighbors to enjoy it with you because their ears are still bleeding from the last time this company came around.

I was referred to Hartigan Lawn through a neighbor that had good things to say. I have a large project that required special attention and a plan for ongoing maintenance. I made an appointment to meet at my home in Inver Grove and Jack Hartigan was respectful, timely, and professional. He took almost an hour of his time to walk the property lines with me to get an accurate assessment of what my goals were with the space and provided insight into a plan for future maintenance. He later followed up with a timely quote that was reasonable and competitive. I look forward to doing business with Hartigan Lawn again and highly recommend them.
