I called Frank and his nephew came by picked up the snow blower rebuild the carburetor changed the oil and spark plugs and delivered it back. He did all that with in 3 days.

Bought 2 bad machines that I was being overcharged for that didn t work. Met them through an app agreed on a price (360).. then changed priced to a higher number once there. (400) Both machines were rusted from the flywheel, bad carbs and honestly wasn t expecting to be sold something so poorly. I understand it s my fault for not opening the cover and inspecting before purchase. It s just disappointing to come to a store known for small engine repairs and be sold something so poorly taken care of.

Did not have the part I needed to repair a lawn mower but was not hesitant to suggest a competitor that may have it. Much more helpful than most places tend to be.

After visiting my grandkids, one of my daughters neighbors was wheeling out a 25yo 2 stage Ariens Snowblower to the curb with a sign on it that said FREE. The owner said it was hard to start but still ran. This thing was a tank. So I threw it in my truck and drove straight to Frank. He reminisced about the quality of days gone by, wished these still had this kind of quality and said if he gets this fixed, it will run for another 20 years. Which he did for the tidy sum of $110.00. Great find. Its going on its 3rd winter in 2021/22 and zero issues. This is a great place to do business with.

Found this shop to do good work for a competitive price. I actually got my lawnmower back on the same day. I may have gotten it in on a not-so-busy day, but that may have been a stoke of luck. Still, Ill be a regular customer anyway.

I highly recommend bringing your lawn mower or snow blower to Frank. I brought in both of those and he got them running as new...no joke. He was completely fair, transparent, and offered advice of what not to dos and for when it is in storage. His service was extremely fast, as well. My mower was complete the day I dropped it off and my blower the next day (had to get a special part). To start things off, I normally dont write reviews. But this service deserves one, after leaving gas in my cub cadet snow thrower over the summer the carburetor was all gummed up and the machine wouldnt function. I siphon the old gas out with new gas plus a cleaner for the carburetor and replace the spark plug. After all else fails and on the verge of a major Snowstorm I start calling around to set up an appointment to get this thing fixed, resigning myself to having to shuffle 6-9 inches of wet heavy snow for a week or two. But lo, when all hope seems lost being told by Sears they dont work on cub cadets, I call Frank and thinking I would have to set up an appointment he tells me that I can just bring it in and hell start working on it. After bringing the machine in with some help, I then learn from Frank, Yeah it should be ready in about an hour or two or ten to eleven the next morning. This man literally got the machine fixed within an hour after I dropped it off, saving myself and my family from injuring our backs from the snow. Plus to top it all off, he teaches me right there how to prevent this from happening in the future! To which I say, well done sir...well done indeed.

Snowblower wouldnt start. Called Frank and he had me bring it in, gave it a tune up and had it back to me running like a champ that same day, right before the first big snow of the year.

Brought my parents rust bucket of a snowblower and within a day he had it running. The place is hard to find, but I called, and Frank himself picked up and gave easy directions. Used to be a store on lake st, now he works out of a garage on his property but the works still legit. Not only did he get it running but he cleaned the fuel lines and fixed a cracked one. Also explained the problem with patience and how to avoid it in the future. Carol Stream Lawn and Power have a 3 week turnaround time and Frank quoted a few days and delivered in 1. Cash payments, quick and professional, 5/5.

They fixed the snowblower and pressure washer I brought in. They did it fairly quickly and did a good job from what I ve seen! Only reason for the bad review...laziness. All I needed was a little more detail on the invoice/receipt for franchise accounting purposes, but the main front desk gentleman was unwilling to simply walk over (20 feet) to the fixed equipment and write down the repairs that had been made on the invoice. Super simple and probably one minute of work.

The last storm left us without power for over 40 hours, we were desperate! (those with septic fields and wells can identify with our desperation) Our generator had not worked in 8 yrs so I went online and just by luck, found the perfect person/place to get it working again. Frank was very professional, personable and in the perfect location, right off 390 and was priced right! I loved his phone voice and demeanor and I loved it even more when he said he could probably repair it that day. We took the generator in and 6 hours later our home was back to almost normal. He also had the best young employee, so nice, he helped load the generator back in my van, I just wish I could have brought him home. My husband and I have and will continue to recommend Franks to everybody.

Frank gave a good price, and he was fast - 6 days when other guys were saying a month! Bookkeeping looks a little loose, but I got my snowblower back before the next snowfall.

I contacted Mr. Frank about issues with my snowblower. It was about 4:30 in the afternoon on a Friday. The store closes at 6 PM. I told him that I have no means of dropping the unit at his store. He sent one of his people to pick it up at my house . I was told the repairs would take a few days to be completed. Mr. Frank called me the next day and told me the unit is fixed. He dropped the unit off himself on Monday evening and operated the unit to show that all the issues were fixed. He gave me a few pointers on how to better use the snowblower. Great service. Today was my 2nd vist to Franks Small Enging Repair. He did a great job two years ago getting trimmer to work (still running BTW). So he was my first choice when my 14 year-old Craftsman (B&S engine) began to fail. It would start and die and ran like junk if I did get it going, which was bothersome since I maintained it pretty well (annual oil, plugs, and air-ilter). Yet, old-age was setting in,....the carburatore needed to be rebuilt, fuel lines cleaned, seals replaced, and idle reset. When I got it back, it ran like NEW.....and for a fraction of the cost of a new mower. Bottom line, before you dump your older equipment (which is probably built better than todays products), go see Frank! Hes really good at what he does and stands behined his work. Say Hi to Billy, too. Hell likely be behind the laptop checking you in, asking questions, and quoting the work.

Walked in the store looked as it was out of business. Was greeted by a man seemed to not be interested in helping. Quoted a price for a small engine two-stroke snowblower as a price of $120 for parts and labor. I believe and everyone earning a living but I felt this was aggressively overpriced. I would not go back, I will continue with Ace Hardware.

My mower just wouldnt start. My grass needed mowing, and my usual place told me 1-2 weeks, so after reading other reviews I took it to Franks. Got it back 2 days later (they replaced a bad coil) and its great - it hasnt started better or run smoother in a long time. This is where I will go from now on to keep it running perfectly.

They wont sell you any thing you dont need and wont t sell you anything you want but wont work/ help you! ( 17 yr old air cleaner , even the big bad SEARS said there arent any - perfect fit & MFG. 2017- better than stock) Turn the key a millisecond an d it starts 8-) ! Runs & cuts like day one ( see pic) they even suggested several good places I could/ or they would install a : deck wash out hose adaptor ) see pic of before~ no pic but not their fault - mine ! Took several trys but now Im ready to : undercoat it after last cut B 4 WINTER? PIC TO COME?) Second thoughts? I could & should have let them install a better one tat I got from - China internet, knock off? But theres always next year?). Their prices were worth every penny & then some ) helped this old man get it out & in MY truck - I saved $25~$ 35. Est - but NOT NEXT YEAR / YEARS - WOULDVE BEEN WELL WORTH THE PICK UP & DELIVERY- (( and Ill be a year older also and a riding 16.5 HP rider gets heaver & bulkier each year~ I get older!))! Went back - again: I got a Gator~ type mulching blade ( perfect fit!) & If you dont let it grow ( as I did) too high! But a normal inch - it just disappears! Into a confetti mulch now. The tune up, plug, sharpening+ balancing old blade, oil & adjustments, not only made it start like new - they got more : RPMs & HP which also equates into a better cut & smoother speed control! FYI- P.S.- as soon as you get there youll see the have a HUGE commercial lawn Care maintaince BUISSINESS, who appeared to be - very happy & friendly with each other ( as with a little guy like me) and trusting! AND THEY DID MINE ( EST 4-5 DAYS- IN 3! . I WILL BE BACK AND HOPE YOU WILL TOO~ 8-) !

I have a Cub Cadet 3X three-stage snow thrower with a 357cc OHV 4-Cycle engine. Its a very large thrower which several other places didnt want to touch. One other place tuned it up but it was not running the well when I got it back. I took it to Franks and got it tuned up and a few other things fixed. It was done in a very reasonable amount of time for a very reasonable price. Better yet it runs awesome now! Very smooth and cuts through snow with no problem. We just had 10.8 inches of very heavy snow...cut through like butter. Even at the end of the driveway after a plow dumped a ton of snow and ice. Definitely recommend Franks and Im definitely going back for all my equipment needs.

Had my cub cadet tuned up and ready for summer. The service was fast and our mower came back like it was brand new. The prices were completely reasonable and when he found a very minor problem with the mower he called and asked if it was ok to fix or if we wanted to leave it as is. He explained it most likely wouldnt cause issue but wanted to bring it to our attention. It was a $10 fix so we opted to have it done. Honest repair shops are hard to find. We will take all our equipment here.

After dealing with some BS from Sears (a $50 dollar deposit and 2-3 weeks to send the lawnmower out for repairs- a detail that was not made clear when I called ahead of time) I called Franks and decided to bring it to him instead. He had my lawnmower repaired in just a few hours and was super nice!

Called Franks with two lawn tractors that needed tune ups and 1 needed a belt. They turned them both around within the week and we had them for the weekend. Service was great and they are easy to work with. We will bring all our work to Franks.

Had the mis fortune to run over a yellow pages book buried under the snow. Not pretty. It was a Thursday and more sow was predicted for the next 3 days. I found Franks website and gave him a call. After leaving a VM I waited for less then an hour for a call back. I expected to be told that it would take weeks to repair and I was afraid to even ask for an estimate. To my surprise he cold look at it quickly and even arranged for him to pick it up for a nominal fee. Not only did he arrive as promised but I received a call the following morning and the unit was repaired and ready to go! Works like new and Frank was able to repair the housing and the belt for a very fair price. Had a bad experience with Aams Small Engine Repairs in Elgin, they kept my Pressure washer for 10 days and still could not repair it! I brought it to Franks and got it back the next day running better than it did when it was new. Moved into town home 8 years ago and gave one son my snow blower...he used it one year and purchased a larger machine...baby sitting for them and noticed both snow blowers so took my old one to give to an older couple in need..saw Frank on the internet and good reviews so I decided to take a chance and go there....absolutely the best service I have ever had...I took it and had it serviced and back the SAME day.. when I went to pick it up it started perfectly with one pull,and ran well, but wouldnt shut off when you turned the key...Frank apologized and said it had worked perfectly when he had tested it out...he immediately removed switch and put another one on [took about 5 minutes for him ] and everything was first class...no additional charge and no waiting while he had to order a new switch...just an old take care of the customer approach you certainly dont often find today...would go back in a heartbeat .

My 17 year old MTD 2 stage snowblower appeared to be on its last legs. It was difficult to start and I had to blow the snow in 1st gear and even then it would stall. The last straw was the recoil rope pulled out. I checked prices on a new snowblower and decided to call Frank. He picked up the machine on Wednesday night and called me Thursday after work to say it was done. I used it this morning to blow the 6 inches we got overnight and it worked like a dream. Started on the first pull and within a few minutes I was ready to go. It was nice to be able to blow the driveway in 3rd gear. 17 year old snowblower runs like new.

My self propelled Toro decided to stop working as soon as my lawn was completely out of control. After a little research, we saw all the great reviews for Franks Small Engine Repair. I called Frank on a Sunday morning and he had my lawn mower repaired in a few hours. I was shocked. I had taken my mower to a well known hardware store a couple of years ago and it took two weeks to repair. I had to pay for the repair and for a lawn service to maintain my yard until I could get my mower back. I never thought Frank would get it back to me the same day. Thanks to Frank, I was able to get the lawn mowed by 4PM Sunday!

I ve used Frank s services twice now and both experiences were better than I could have hoped for. The first time was last around 11/2013. I wanted to have my snow blower checked out because it did not start the year before. I was unhappy with another local place because of the price and time they took to repair my lawnmower in the spring of 13 so when my wife said she found another guy locally that had great reviews we figured we would go ahead and try it. It was great! I was able to bring it in to him that night and he had it all ready in less than a day. Not only did he tune it up he replaced some bolts that were missing and the thing performed like a champ during one of the coldest winters we have had that I can remember. So now when spring came around and my lawnmower stopped working in the middle of a mow (*just to note: I had paid $175 last year at a local shop to have them tune it and sharpen the blades and get it in working condition after sitting for 3 years) I didn t think twice but to bring it to Frank. When I got there and showed him what was happening he knew right away it was the carburetor. He asked if there was anything else I needed done to it and after I said no he said he could have it done that night (this was at 5:30pm). Sure enough he gave me a call at 7:30 and said it was all ready to go. His prices are great as well compared to what I paid at other places for much less service. Thanks Frank. I rate Franks Small Engine Repair 5 stars as the work is always under less time and under budget than any other place. He can tell you what is broken with in 30 Sec. from seeing the machine vs. others places where you have to wait a week or so just to get an idea. Best small engine place in town.

I thought these reviews were too good to be true, but it was either put my 25 year old Murray lawn mower on the curb or throw a few bucks at it, so I gave Frank a try. He replaced the head gasket, repaired the throttle cable, adjusted the carb linkage, and did all of this for about half the cost of buying the cheapest crappy lawn mower from Walmart. Now it runs better than it has for several years and, get this, I dropped it off, went home to have lunch, barely finished when he called and said it was done. Yup, done in less than 2 hours. Plus, when I dropped it off, he took a minute to examine it, asked a few questions about it and gave me a free, no obligation estimate. He knew within 15 seconds that it was either the head gasket or a valve problem. This guy is awesome, and Ill be bringing him my 40 year old snow blower. And Ill be referring him whenever I can. I purposely waited a few weeks to write this review to see how well the lawn mower held up. Frank did an amazing job. It runs faster than before and it has held up and has worked great the last 2 months. Starts up with ease now too. I will go to him for all my small engine repairs now. He also had the work completed in about 2 hours and back to me same day. Cant beat Franks, thats why all the reviews are great. He is a nice guy and does great work. Highly recommend him.

Id read that he did a good job, and that he was a nice guy and they were right! Hes a very nice guy, got my lawnmower fixed fast, and treated me nicely even though Id really hadnt taken proper care of my lawnmower. He returned the mower to me sounding like new. Even more, he found a tire for it that replaced a wobbly one that Ive never been able to replace. The bushing was part of the center rim and didnt have a part number but he managed anyway. Id never ever expected to fax that wheel.

Last Sunday my husband went to mow the lawn and our refurbished Craftsman mower wouldnt start. I searched for a local repair service and found Franks. Franks Small engine repair is Great Great Price and Great Repair Got snow blower fixed Older Toro with 3.5 HP engine needed a new gas tank and a Carb Rebuild on it. Sat all summer and seeing some light snow coming it fired right up after the last usage in March of 2013. I cant believe the service I recieved from Franks Small Engine Repair. I had a snow blower that needed service because it wouldnt start and I tried to fix it myself and failed miserably. I called Frank and after dropping it off by him for a little over an hour, he called back to say it was ready to be picked up. He explained to me all that was wrong with it, and how to prevent it from happening again. Hes very knowledgeable and thorough. He fixed it a very reasonable price. Stong storms in the area knocked out power to many homes in Wheaton, Winfield, W. Chgo. My little gas generator would not start. Called Franks on a Sunday night in a panic, brought it over, and waa laa! My son bent the shaft, badly, on our Toro mower 190cc BS engine. Blade and holder shot too. I called Frank and he gave me a price range over the phone, sight unseen. I took it over at 4pm, he took a look and said there was a good chance it could be repaired. At 6:30pm same day he calls with good news, new parts installed and a very fair price given the amount of damage that was there. Friendly, honest hands-on guy who seems to really know his stuff.
