We have had several trees trimmed and removed as well as having new plants installed. The crews were professional and a pleasure to work with. Our new gardens look great!

They have a bunch of disrespectful drivers who almost ran into my car while my 10 year old wad with me and then flipped me off..horrible people

I guess customer service is not very important to Amy. Very disappointing. I m taking my business to another tree cutting company. I don t recommend using Birchcrest to anyone.

Awesome job by Birchcrest removing and cleaning up a dead ash tree leaning on my property. They were fast, efficient, and respectful of my property. I feel some of the negativity about them is due to homeowners neglect and they make it seem as though its Birchcrests fault imo. Do not hire unless you want to wait months ( like 5) before you hear from them. As with what other reviewers said, they don t finish the job and then don t respond to phone calls. I have now left 7 messages for Beaver with no response. Yet they want their money quickly. Do NOT recommend!

RGE had them come out to remove some limbs that were close to a power line. They left a bunch of large branches in the yard and some cut limbs dangling in the tree which is probably more of a hazard than it was before.

5 stars You wear dishwashy gloves for protection while inhaling clouds of pesticides. Do I need a PhD to work here?

My rating is specifically on pricing. The estimate was professional. The price of the estimate was 3x the amount of 3 others I had received. They said that they picked and cleaned everything up, they said that the treatment oil which was needed was expensive and not what others used. The other estimates I received stated the exact same product for treatment and specified full cleanup for trimming. I believe Birchcrest now deals with large businesses and is not really for private small time homeowners. Just my opinion.

This company was the ONLY company to step up, out of the goodness of their hearts, to help a raccoon that was stuck up on a tree for over 5 days scared and suffering due to pitbulls waiting for him at the bottom. The city, police, animal control etc did nothing and the owner of the pitbulls refused to move his dogs so the raccoon could come down safely and when this company heard about the situation. They came right away to save this little guy and safely got the raccoon down. This shows the morale of the company - simply wanting to do good. It shows their integrity. For this company to care enough about a raccoon speaks volumes when everyone else turned a blind eye to a suffering creature who was at our mercy. Round of applause for this company stepping up and doing the right thing.

Im watching the crew work as I write this review. Its a city job trimming trees on McNaughton St. The big trucks with all the equipment is impressive. The cutting seems to be a processes and well done. Its a five star because of the safety concerns these men work with every day. Birchcrest is to tree trimming as the meat department is to cows. Left us with a big mess, and now the tree will have to be removed. But at least they re the most expensive place anyone could possibly hire.

Had a tree split which hung over my house service after recent wind event, called them that morning, they were there in 2 hrs to assess and cut the tree down the following morning. Great service

I live in Henrietta, NY and when the wind storm came through the area in March, 2023, multiple trees fell on my power-lines, ripping them from my house. It took 8 phone calls and three days to get RGE to respond to my home. They finally sent Birchcrest to cut the trees off of my lines. Birchcrest personnel did cut the trees from my lines and trimmed multiple branches from other trees in my backyard. However, the crew left downed- trees and debris in my backyard and did not come back to remove, they said this was my responsibility. The price quoted by another local company to finish cutting up the trees and remove all of the debris was $4,000. Needless to say, I bought a chainsaw and itll take me much of the summer for me to remove the mess on my own.

Are you looking to visit the circus but are too busy working for a living? Don t worry, the boys at birch crest bring the whole circus right to your front lawn! Freshly seeded and federalized lawn? No problem! They ll walk right though it for no other reason than to make sure you get the whole clown experience! Fresh mulch bed? Looks like a good place to walk and throw brush on. With a bid this low, rg&e ran at them with the check! Would have been 5/5 if they had the circus music playing, but all I heard was employees complaining about needing their vape.

Removed 6 small plants that my neighbors were able to transplant & in its place put in 2 small Japanese maple trees.

Terrible. They came out to remove trees for rge. Broke my internet cable, left debris on the neighbors roof. Messed up the grass for my other neighbor.

They left a mess. Including tree parts that were too big for me to clean up. And large areas in the yard that needed to be filled in after branches falling. I was told by the head guy on site to call the office. I have called 3 times. It has been 16 days since the cut the tree down. Spoken to no one that needs to deal with this. Just getting the run around. Horrible experience. I would advise anyone to not hire this business.

Every step from the estimate to the work done was smooth, and performed in an extremely professional manner. I cant remember the names of the three workers who showed up at my house but they were friendly, new exactly what they were doing, and went above and beyond to tackle a job other tree service companies didnt want to touch. They rescued my kitten from a very high tree, when the fire department couldn t. A+ for bravery and kindness.

Yesterday they trimmed in front of my house, cut 60 of my hedgerow at the trunk of every tree and left a big mess. Worst of all they destroyed my walnut tree at the trunk leaving one small limb over the driveway. When I called I was told that tree was marked by rg&e as a dead ash to be removed and that they had my permission for it to be taken. If was dead why wouldnt you take it all? Whos lying about it? Why would anyone hire these people? Update, I am considering a lawsuit. No way did I give my permission nor was I even asked for permission to remove that English walnut tree, your people are so lazy that my hedgerow was cut at ground level instead of beneath the power lines.

I contacted Birchcrest through their website. I sent photos of the tree I wanted removed and asked for a quote. They indicated that photos were not sufficient to produce a quote and suggested that I call their phone number to arrange to have someone provide a quote. I did not call their number. Instead I replied with my address and asked when they could come out to work up an estimate. I have not heard back. In the meantime, I message another tree service. Within minutes of seeing the photos, they provided a quote. The tree was removed the next day. I have nothing bad to say about their service since I never hired them. Their customer service could use some improvement, though they were never rude, just ultimately not helpful (ghosting shouldnt happen in a professional environment unless a customer is being rude, and I was not).

Birchcrest Tree & Landscape performed a large tree removal job on my next-door neighbors property on 12/05 and 12/06/2023. Birchcrest did not notify me of the job, did not tell me that theyd be blocking my driveway, and did not tell me that my electric and Spectrum cable internet would be disconnected. I came home from work on 12/05 at 2:20 PM to my driveway blocked, no power and no internet. I had to ask two of the gentleman to move their truck, so I could get into my driveway. My pets were sitting in a cold, 60 degree house and my sump pump was filling up due to no power. After making phone calls to Birchcrest and RG&E, my power was finally restored at 4:20 PM. My Spectrum internet was not restored that day. I called Birchcrest on 12/05, 12/06, 12/07, and 12/08 to request they contact Spectrum to have my internet reconnected. Each time, I got the run around, along with let us contact the supervisor and call you back. The only person who actually cared and tried to help was Amy - thank you Amy. Due to the negligence of Birchcrest, I had to contact Spectrum on my own to schedule an appointment with them for 12/08 to have my cable internet reconnected. I should not have had to spend my time doing the job of your staff member(s) who contact the electric and cable companies to coordinate the electric and internet line requests. I will never do business with Birchcrest and will never recommend them to anyone looking for tree and yard work. Im so disappointed with how the process was handled - the customer service is terribly poor. Birchcrest, if you care about your clientele, please make an effort to properly communicate with property owners, utility companies, internet providers, etc. in the future. Showing that you care goes miles. Thank you.

Contracted by RGE for tree removal. Left a mess in my backyard. Numerous tree limbs were left hanging from other trees.

Horrible Company!!!!!!! Employees have no consideration for peoples private property, they jumped over and damaged my locked fence. Left tons of branches throughout my yard and rang my doorbell multiple times while my wife whos a night nurse was sleeping. BEWARE!!!!!!! DO NOT HIRE!!!!!!!

They were dispatched to remove a fallen tree from power lines. They were courteous, professional and went above and beyond to remove the tree without damaging the live power lines, surrounding trees and lawn. They did an exceptional job cleaning up all the debris associated with this job. Would definitely give them ten stars for their efforts. Thank you all for making sure you have a satisfied customer. This company destroyed my garden. A neighbor was having a large tree cut and access to my yard was needed in order to complete this job. Not only did they drive directly over my plants but they threw planted pots all over my yard and onto other plants. They placed heavy rocks and other objects directly onto my flower beds. They did not put anything back where it had been. Totally uncaring service.

Company was called to trim power lines for power company in the area. Did a great job and cleaned up great! Very friendly as well.

Received estimate which seems like a fair price.

Watching a crew from this place completely disregard safety(no harnesses while up in trees) as they blindly hack away at the trees on Wisconsin Street in Rochester. Those of us using RGE dont have a choice with these hacks, but please dont hire them on your own dime. Reckless destruction, trees left top heavy and unbalanced, name on the truck should be a responsibility- not an entitlement. *To the companys response- there were no harness or safety equipment used. You can state your qualifications any way you wish, but it remains that none were wearing belts/harnesses/gear- none present and in and out of trees with only saws, no ropes, no pausing to belay, nothing. While I can appreciate you reciting your business policies, unless you were there, you have no idea what actually happened.*

I am especially happy with technician Gabby, who took extra time to make sure I was happy with the service. This is my first year with Birchcrest and Im glad I made the switch to a less expensive and more responsive company.

I dont understand how this company can just walk on someones property and start cutting down trees without giving any kind of notice. Sure, RG&E hires them but its just common courtesy to homeowners. They cut down all our trees in the backyard and left ugly stumps and debris. I tried calling and left a message for Sharlene asking to confirm why this was done never received a call back. Totally unprofessional and although we didnt pay anything for this service we would not consider them for any landscaping jobs in the future.

Twice scheduled me for work on trees. 1st time, failed to show up, but at least had the manners to call and let me know. 2nd time, failed to show up and not even the courtesy of a call. I contacted the office to complain. and got the usual lame excuses. I requested, and was denied, a 10% discount for my inconvenience, so I requested my deposit back. Meanwhile my neighbor, who has been a steady customer of theirs for many years, has been waiting SINCE LAST OCTOBER for them to show up and do what he contracted them to do. Book them at your own risk. I wont ever use them again.

RG@E contacted me and asked if they could remove a tree on my property. They informed me that birchcrest would take it down and remove if I would like. I agreed. The tree was taken down early May and still sits in my front yard. I have taken care of most of it because it was killing my grass. But they left a 6 to 7 foot section about 3 wide. My chainsaw cant cut that and way to heavy to move. Between my wife and I, we have called three times. My neighbors have also called multiple times. Every time we get Ill send a reminder. Sometimes rudely. I wonder if they will repair the damage they cause.my yard. I doubt, I guess I should just hope they remove there mess.

They serviced our neighbor. After seeing them unannounced in our back yard, I thanked God that the dog was not out! I notice half a tree in our backyard! I tell one of the workers, WHEN (naturally, they will pick up their mess!) you go back again, let me know because the dog is out; he replies, Sure. Minutes later, they are gone. I call and have a message sent to their supervisor. Hour and a half later, I get supervisor on line; she does not acknowledge the lack of announcing their presence and asks, Who told you they would be back?. I explain; she tells me, Fine, but I cant guarantee WHEN they will be back. After hours, I leave answering service message that either they come back ASAP or husband will do it and send invoice. No reply. I call answering service and get supervisor, who remembers. I tell her husband did it, they need to come and pick up mess at curb, and to expect invoice for labor. She says, I am telling you right now that will NOT happen. I say, Expect a court date then.

Just want to thank Birchwood for taking care of this huge tree in my yard, it was a HUGE job and these guys were flawless, here on time, worked diligently until the job was completely done in a very timely manner! They put everything back just the way they found it, I.e neighbors fence. They were respectful of my yard and if those around me! I would highly recommend these guys for getting rid of big trees! Thanks guys for a job well done!

Birchcrest came along the power lines and trimmed the trees in our neighborhood. The basics removed one side of a large tree that was 10 feet from the power line and left trees that we closed to the power line. It was basically a hacker job of the tree.

We had a burm installed. Brenda was here to mark it out and worked with us to define what we wanted. The installation occurred earlier than expected, which was great, and is just what we want. Thanks Birchcrest.

Schedule an appointment with this company. On the appointment day, I was told that they made a mistake on the scheduling and had to reschedule. So rescheduled, but on the appointment date, I came home from work to wait for over 30 mins, and no body showed up!!! I was again told that they made another mistake with the scheduling!!! How can you trust a company who keeps making mistakes on very simple thing--scheduling an appointment!! They seem not to care about others time!!!

We ve used Brenda with Birchcrest for the past 3 years from planting trees, to weed control, to spring clean up, pavers, and mulching. I can t say enough positive things about my experience with this company, if you are looking for any lawn maintenance, stop looking and call Birchcrest.

RGE has a contract with Birchcrest Tree Service to conduct tree trimming of RGE power lines. Having said that Birchcrest conducted a tree and limb service in the Maplewood, 10th ward, area of Rochester about 2nd week of May 2021. The crew consisted of about 12 personnel or more. Im retired, so Im home the majority of time and spent some time watching them work. I even supplied bottled water to the crew. It wasnt until after they left the area that the next day I noticed the very obvious classic V notch gouges of the climbers spikes in my beautiful Red Oak tree. There were about 15 or 20 of these tear outs in the tree bark. It did not make sense why they climbed my tree and did this irreversible damage. I could see where they cut ONE small limb off that was 2 or less in diameter at the tree that was not within 15 feet of the power lines and absolutely no threat to the power lines now or 15 yrs from now. I later learned from another tree arborist that the reason they do this is to further bill RGE more money. I have no way to verify this. The damage from these V spike cuts create wintering hibernation pockets for insects, thus also inviting woodpeckers, Hairy, Downy, Redheaded and Pileated, which all are visitors to my yard. The woodpeckers then go after the insects further damaging and enlarging the cavities . The Pileated Woodpeckers remove chunks of the tree that would make Pail Bunyon proud. So I called Birchcrest and I asked lady in office who was very nice to speak to a supervisor or boss. She transferred to another female who claimed to be a supervisor. I explained the entire issue to the supervisor that was less than accommodating and sense of borderline rude, like I was bothering her. I asked why they did not come to my door and ask or inquire and her response was because of Covid we do not do that which was total bullsh*t, because as I sat on my front porch I witnessed two of the guys in their tree climbing belts knock on the front door two houses away and engage in conversation with the homeowner from about two feet away. I then told this self proclaimed supervisor that I wanted a Boss, Foreman to come to my house so I could point out the tree marks and have him attempt to try explain to me how or why this happened, and try and justify it. She said I would hear back soon...So I asked define soon. She said she would have crew boss or she herself would call back in a day or two. We then hung up. I gave them the opportunity and their 2 day time period to respond has come and gone, and now its over 10 days and they have not made any attempt at calling me back, or contacting me at my address, which they had., So now I contact RGE who hires them and my lawyer to send a letter notice of tree damage suit.....Then they will have to respond. Ver poor way of running a business,

They leave a mess for the customer to clean up. If they break something while working with the bucket, they never mentioned it and ignored it. When they are contracting out for RGE, they dont use good judgement on how the trees will look once they have butchered them. Very unhappy.

AVOID IF YOU CAN! RGE contracted this company to Prune around our power lines. I was alerted to their presence trampling my gardens in the backyard when I attempted to let my dogs out. The crewman had said hed just jumped the 6 foot fence and didnt know anyone was home. He of course made no attempt to come and knock on the front door, or the back he was busy trespassing into find out. I unlocked the gate for him and his team so they could more easily come and go getting all the branches out and the foremen assured me theyd just be pruning back the branches that came within 15 of the lines. I went back inside to continue working and then noticed out the windows that they had no idea what 15 was. The trunk of my tree is 15 from the fence and grows away from the fence line. The power pole is another 6 on the other side of the fence so these branches were trimmed 20+ regardless of their height, growing direction, or proximity to the lines themselves. Some of them needed to be cut back sure, maybe even outright removed, but cutting every single branch on one side of a tree all the way back to the trunk? Thats just lazy and poor workmanship. I came back outside as they were finishing up my first tree. They had decided distance from the lines didn t matter, and basically took off every branch at the trunk even remotely growing towards the fence. Branches that were well past 15 and growing perpendicular were gone. Shade over my shed and gardens gone. Mature branches that grew 10 below the lines and were drooping presenting no danger of ever interfering with lines under the heaviest of winds were gone. My tree now looks like someone took an arbitrary line and removed everything on one side of it. Before pic is last one. The gardens, plants, and shrubs that were not stepped on or had branches dropped 20+ feet onto them will likely still die as any shade on that side of the yard is now completely gone. My wife and I spoke to the workers and foreman and received rude rebuffs from the crew while the foreman was a bit more understanding. He apologized and said that yes it s a poorly done job, and that they clearly took too much, but chalked it up to some guys being better on the saw than others. Thanks for giving me your B squad after Id already come out and spoke with you for jumping my fence and breaking into my yard. I was thankfully able to convince him to leave the second tree for another day when he can bring his best team and do the job properly. Their contract, with RGE, was to trim and prune branches that could endanger the lines. Thats fine, expected, and appreciated. Instead they simply hacked everything back to the trunk of the tree because it was easier, quicker, and it wasnt their property to worry about. Youd expect a little bit more from a team headed by an arborist with two degrees to know a little better about pruning. The tree looks awful, the workers were unprofessional and rude. Anyone reading this should strongly consider someone else if you need tree services in the future. We will be lodging a complaint with RGE as well, and we fully expect someone to compensate us for all the plants and gardens they ruined. God I cannot imagine how much worse itd be had I not been in my home office.

In 2010 I had major landscaping done it was over $50,000. The designer way oversold me as the plants are not spaced out far enough and are too many for the areas planted. But that is not the problem, I was never schooled on how to care for the water feature I had to research the maintenance myself,but again that is not the problem. A dogwood tree they planted had to be replaced in 2011 it was under guarantee but I had to argue to get it replaced,but they did. The problem is the one they replaced it with has never grown and is so feeble I had the cornell cooperative come out. They diagnosed it to have girdled roots. So After looking and hoping fertilization and watering would make it flourish I decided to dig it up and see if I could trim the root ball and save the tree.As I dug carefully around the roots I noticed the tree was very loose. When I lifted it pulled right out I noticed the wire mesh was never removed nor was the burlap cut back. There were only sucker roots and no main shoots after being in the ground for almost 10 years I dont know if it will survive but I could never recommend Dave Dailey or birchcrest to anyone in good conscience! Very sorry to have to write this but I called Dave today and he hasnt returned my call.

If I could give them 10 stars I would. I had a walkway and a patio along with some plants installed and I could not be more happier. Justin and Scott are absolutely amazing and I would have no problem hiring them again for any future projects. They went above and beyond. Not sure why the negative reviews from others but I am thoroughly impressed. This company is awful! Came home to a tree that broke my roof on my shed! No note! no call! If I could give zero stars I would! I called a real company to come take down a branch and they came before they showed up and ruin a brand new shed! This company has no values and I hope that this review helps someone stay away from ever using them! They also left the branch so I can t get into the shed! Called to tell them and they laughed and hung up!

I was doing my job spraying a lawn and the guy was polling a tree branch to the front and he yelled at me and said do not spray the lawn I said I have to do my job the guy that owns the house wanted his lawn sprayed so the guy that works for you is very mean to me today I would not recommend this company

This company is terrible! They pretty much ruined two of our trees trying to trim them. The workers parked their truck, which Im sure is heavy, in the driveway without asking and then left our yard a mess. They have no respect for homeowners or their property.

I wish that I could leave a good review for Birchcrest because I know people who ve had good luck with them. However, I ve had a very bad experience. I live on a narrow city street, with a small driveway and a giant silver maple in my back yard. I wanted to have some preventative work done on the tree, which is healthy. I had L&R Trees come out for an estimate in August, and they said that I needed a company with a scissor lift because my driveway was too narrow for a bucket truck. They recommended Flower City Trees and Birchcrest. I tried Flower City Trees first, and they blew me off for a month after I asked for an adjustment to the initial quote which was for twice the work that I had asked for. Bob from Birchcrest then came out and gave me a reasonable quote for what I wanted done. I sent a deposit in November. Because of the location of the tree, I had to coordinate work with my back neighbors. Since then, there have been scheduling challenges due to weather, which is understandable, though on multiple occasions I had to call them to confirm that the work was cancelled rather than them letting me know. We finally got a truck to come out in January, when I was told that my driveway was too narrow for the bucket truck, that I had to get my neighbors to move their cars on my street, and that I needed to involve a second neighbor for driveway access. A complication with the back neighbor happened on that day too, and their vehicles were not moved as promised, so they left without doing work. We rescheduled for a different day, I notified all of my neighbors, a new crew showed up, and it was like the previous crew had never been there. I was told again that my driveway was too narrow, they couldn t do the work, but that they had a smaller truck back at the office and they d check to see if it was available. I got a text later that morning saying that it wasn t available but they d schedule me for the following week. The following week I again contacted my neighbors, made sure my car was on the street, and nothing. No team. I called, and I wasn t on the schedule. It s now February, and my check was deposited 11/14. At this point, I gave up. The tree is healthy, it s obviously a pain to deal with, and I ll just hope that a piece of it doesn t fall on my house. When I called to see why the truck wasn t here the last time, I cancelled the service and asked for my large deposit to be returned. I was told that this would happen. Three weeks later, it still hasn t arrived, so I had to call AGAIN and was told that they must have missed the cancellation message and will send it out today. So, long story, my tree is obviously difficult, but they saw the situation when they came out to prepare the quote, so why waste my time with all of this?!

I scheduled an appointment and had to wait several weeks for the actual date. When no one arrived on the date and time scheduled, I called later to see if the person was running behind. I was told that they should have been there and when I shared that they hadnt been, was offered to reschedule for next month. When I asked if they were able to check with the employee to see if they were still coming today, I was more or less told no and could tell the Birchcrest employee couldnt get me off of the phone fast enough. I couldnt believe the complete lack of customer service but wont be contacting Birchcrest again and will be sure to share my experience with others.

They told me 3 weeks its been 6. They came and did a little and have not returned to finish. They have not called and have terrible communication.

I called to get a quote for re-doing my whole backyard. I was told they would be out to give me a quote. Well its a month later and no phone call or quote was received. I called back twice to check on the status and was told he was on vacation and would be out the next day. Still no quote or call back. I had cash in hand ready to give to this company. Guess they were too busy to keep.up with a potential customer. Your loss. At least call your potential customers back. Poor customer service.

I get that trimming around the power lines is necessary. But one would think if you have to remove 90% of the vegetation they would just take the whole damn tree down. What a lovely vertical log they left us. Id give one star but at least one of them was thoughtful enough to close our gate on the way out.

If I could leave a zero, I would. These guys came into my backyard trimming trees for the town and leave my gate to my backyard open with branches blocking the opening. Left a big branch in the backyard. My wife told me that one of them put their cigarette out in the snow and was going to leave it there until she said something to him. Last year there were a bunch of cigarette butts in my yard after they did the same thing. It is obvious that we have children with all the kids toys and playground in the backyard and these thugs disregarded it like it didnt even matter. They should be ashamed of themselves. Im going to call the town and complain as well .

My neighbors tree had over grown and was resting on my roof. Birchcrest was able to come out within a week and the tree limbs. No branches or limbs were left behind. They were professional to my neighbors and to myself.

I thought the majority of the bad reviews for Birchcrest were from people who RGE had taken down trees in their powerline easement and weren t happy about involuntary tree removal, but besides that the company seems normal enough. Wrong. I had a fairly simple job, take down two trees and remove what was taken down. I was not home when they sent someone to scope out the job for the quote, so they weren t aware of some underground power lines (only 6 deep) running through the work site. Also, I wanted to be present the day of the removal in case there were any problems. So, Val at Birchcrest advised me to write on the contact my requirements, so I listed requiring a quick <~5 minute site meeting before work begins and to be notified 3 days in advance before work begins. I figure simple enough. I m not someone from Pittsford asking the world, I m just some guy in [not-pittsford] trying to point out UG electrical wires so no one gets electrocuted. I sent in the deposit check and the contract, but any good communication we were having stops here. I m going to start counting the mistakes. About a month later I emailed them to let them know I saw they cashed the deposit check, so I assume they agree to my minor stipulations on the contract. Also, I wanted to ask approximately what month the work will happen and reminded them I d need to know the day 3 days in advance. They referred me to Beaver who said it would be 6 to 8 weeks. I replied thanking him and since I ve not spoken to him prior, remined him as we get closer I need 3 days notice as per the contact . (1.) No response from Beaver. (2.) Instead of 6-8 weeks out, they tried to show up 3 weeks later. I wasn t home, nor notified. They show up and surprise my MIL who s watching my infant daughter saying they have a work order (which they didn t read) and she needs to move her car. She said no simply because she wasn t able to do it while baby sitting and because she knew I would have told her if I knew Birchcrest was coming. So I get a VM from David at Birchcrest while I was at work. I called him back in 30 min, no response, so I left a VM for him to call me. (3.) He never did. I emailed Beaver and Val letting them know this happened, politely reminding them of the 3 days notice requirement, how I appreciate the earlier job slot, but I still need notice so there s no Italian MILs in the way. (4.) I received no response from anyone at Birchcrest. (5.) A month later with no notice a crew shows up to remove the trees. Luckily the underground wires were not affected. They chopped the trees down, removed the canopy, but left 6 sections of tree trunks in two piles. 3-4 business days later, (6.) again with no notice, a truck showed up and removed one pile of wood, but left a second pile farther from the road. (7.) I receive the final invoice but they haven t completed the removal! So, of course I call them up again, and explain this. The person I spoke with said they d figure this out and get back to me. (8.) Three business days go by with no response. So I call again and get directed to Val. (9.) She clearly didn t get passed the message correctly and thought I was trying to get them to do extra work or something. Finally she understood and said they d get someone out there the next day to pick up the remaining wood. So next day, a guy from Birchcrest shows up at my house and calls me. I m at work and miss the call. I get a VM from the guy confused about the wood. Did I want to keep it? Did I want to keep it, but changed my mind? Do I really want it removed? (10.) This is now the 2nd time they weren t able to pass on my clear message of you cut down 2 trees, but only removed one like you were supposed to . So I call this guy back, leave a VM explaining that I ve never changed my standing and please remove the wood like the contract says. I m out of characters. I didn t even get to the part about them not really cleaning up and leaving my lawn littered with pop cans.. *sigh*

They did a great job of removing a 40 foot maple tree for us, removing the wood, grinding the stump, and filling and seeding the area. The price was less than other services. We would highly recommend them.

They have hacked and mangled trees throughout monroe county and this problem has even been on the news. Even after having a no refusal form done for trimming with RGE near power lines they still tried to cut up my tree. They will access anyones front or back yard without you knowing and hack your trees to shreds. As uncaring and unprofessional of a company in Rochester. Hence all the bad reviews. I proudly come from the country and own two Stihl Chainsaws and a 54 Homelite and know how to properly trim trees and these guys are a joke. This morning, I hear chainsaws going and I look outside to see there was a man in my backyard. No one came to my door to notify me that they were going to be entering my property to start cutting down limbs. They hopped over my neighbors fence to gain access to my yard. After they finished, there are numerous huge tree limbs laying in my yard. Now my husband has to cut them, get them to the front and hopefully they will get picked up with the garbage next Thursday. Quite disappointing at how they felt they could just walk onto my property without my permission. Also quite lucky I saw them back there before letting my two German shepherds out for their morning run. I guess they are contracted by RG&E to cut around power lines. So why do we have to clean up for something I never asked for?

The company has the RGE contract for tree trimming around power lines. They completely ruined my maple tree. totally gutted it, The tree will never be the same to the point I will need to have it removed. Based on the rest of the reviews I am surprised to see the current rating. They would get zero stars if I could go that low on the rating.. I would never hire this scab outfit., Save your self a headache and please go else where for tree and Landscaping services.

If you want fast service at half the price of the next closest estimate and dont mind randomly coming home without warning to see your tree gone without a trace, then you wont be disappointed by them. I will now have to hire someone else to come take these down completely. Shame on you for thinking this is acceptable. I understand you are fulfilling a contract with RG&E, however, this is unacceptable work and have now lost a customer.

Birchcrest arrived and did everything as asked as well as cleaning up afterward. I was asked if the work met with my satisfaction, Birchcrest employees were courteous and helpful.

I asked to get a quote for trimming bushes, it took two weeks to get it. I had a question about the quote again it took two more weeks. The last I heard they were going to contact the person who gave me the quote, it has been 3 weeks. Does this company expect you to beg them to do a job? I have hired a different company that has no problem doing the job.

They wanted 100 dollars just come out and do the estimate...could be great company but Ill never know. ***Update, in response to your response*** the work we needed done at the time was going to be done through our insurance company so this might have been the reason for the charge (although we werent informed of thos when we called so I assumed it was standard procedure) I have upped my review from 3 to 4 stars since the person who had recommended you sung your praises and I trust his opinion I just regret it never worked out for us.

That fine piece of man meat who drives truck number 61 is like a Greek god with the heart of Paul Bunyan. I have some work I need done, so, Mr. Birchcrest, of truck 61.... cheers to you. You wield a saw like nothing I ve ever seen. Birchcrest needs a calendar full of their men out there wearing sawdust like stripper glitter. I ll buy them all!

Had 4 trees taken down this morning. 3 super nice guys who were amazing to watch. Trees down and not a stick left over on the lawn in 3 ish hours. Awesome job!

Had a very large tree removed from my back yard, and stump ground and graded and seeded. Their quote was a lot more than the figures I could find online for typical tree removal but was still 2nd lowest of four quotes I got. They probably deserve four stars not three but my expectations were so high based on the reviews online, then my job didnt go as smoothly. The work was performed over five different days --- three to take down the tree alone. The job was quoted as a completely manual climb & cut, but we ended up taking down an extra section of fence and bringing in a bucket truck. Quite a bit of lawn damage, mostly was repaired with topsoil though they will have to come back in the Spring to reseed. In the end the tree was removed, the crew was nice, and I still plan to have them plant a new tree in the Spring.

I have always found them to be helpful and knowledgeable. They have done tree trimming and cabling for me. They removed a tree stump and gave me advice on which trees to use to replace one that had to be taken down. I like my new little tree and they did a nice job of installing it. Everyone has been pleasant to deal with and they have scheduled services in a timely manner.

Birchcrest Tree is a joke. They made a mess of my yard on two separate occasions in the last 60 days doing work for RG&E. They left tree trimmings on my property far beyond their 15 right away. They are the lowest of the low as far as who they hire. Their foreman is a mangy piece of dirt. I will do all in my power to dissuade anyone from doing business with this company. They are useless!

So far no good have sent in a Deposit for work to get done had no prob cashing the deposit two weeks a go but can not tell me when the work will get done I do not see how that is far to me. Seem to be getting the run around when I call told maybe in the next two weeks but two more after that to do all the work. I guess taking down the two trees I paid for is not on the list for them anytime soon.

Out of 5 tree companies Birchcrest was the best deal by far. They saved me money and even did some extras without being asked. They did a great job on the tree removals.

Wed give 0 stars if possible. Wish we could post photos. Birchcrest left us with irreparably mangled trees, and left dropped limbs and debris everywhere. They crushed our garden and broke our fence. It doesnt matter that they were working for the power company. That doesnt give them the right to do a total hack job and drive away, free of responsibility for the extensive damage done. We had no notice they were coming. They destroyed our front landscape and ruined our mature trees, leaving several with entire tops cut off and bare upright trunks still standing. Do not contract with Birchcrest.

I have made numerous calls (since April!!) to this Company to remove a tree branch that I am required to remove due to safety issues to my house. No show- no call on any of my detailed messages. When I finally spoke to someone-I was told they had a faulty answering service and they would be out by week s end. That was a month ago. Forget it. They don t need your business.

The removal of the tree and all its contents were all done in such a timely fashion . The workmen let me have my 2 year old witness the whole event . I am furious . I came home from work to a completely destroyed backyard . No prior notice from your company or the utility company . Trimming trees is one thing cutting them down to stumps is a completely different story . I no longer have any privacy in my backyard . This is unacceptable. It is unacceptable that your employees were on my property doing damage to it without my knowledge it is unacceptable that I no longer have trees . I have contacted RGE as well they assured me that they will be in contact with your company as well . You will hear from me in the morning as well . The damage has been done but the situation needs to be rectified . I want my privacy back . I have very recent before pictures of my back yard as a recently purchased the home as well as many after pictures that show the the extent of the damage .

I had Birchcrest take care of my trees a couple of months ago and was very happy with the people and the work. Ill be calling them again next year as they have personally assured me that the RG&E crews do not do residential service. I really appreciated that they cared enough about a customer to visit and tell me that.

Tricky job completed in under 6 hours of reporting it. Tree came down on RGE cable above my fence. Called RGE and within 2 hours Birchcrest was out to assess the job. There is no access for their vehicles so they could only do the removal with ropes an a small extended saw. I was sure that my fence was doomed. They roped up the tree too another tree and the fallen tree came down perfectly. Yes they left debris in my yard as per RGE rules but they told me that in advance...job well done!

I received a letter from RGE that they hired Birchcrest to trim trees on my street around the power lines. This morning, I hear chainsaws going and I look outside to see there are several men in my backyard. No one came to my door to notify me that they were going to be entering my property to start cutting down limbs from my large trees. They hopped over the fence to gain access to my yard. After they finished, there are several branches left at the base of the trees in my yard. We had just finished our fall clean up and now we need to go back and clean their mess up. Quite disappointing at how they felt they could just walk onto my property without my permission.

We had Birchcrest remove a large tree that had been planted too close to our new house. From their estimator through each crew that cut the tree down, ground the stump and filled in the hole, they were completely professional and easy to deal with. When they finished, there was no sign that 45 foot tree, or any worker, was ever there. Well call them again, and recommend them to others.

Birchcrest, under contract with RG&E, just came to our house HACKED OUR TREES TO SHREDS. Sixty years of growth and care completely ruined. We had contacted RG&E and confirmed we would handle our own trimming professionally (which we just paid $1,500 for), but the message was never relayed to Birchcrest and it LOOKS AWFUL. We understand the workmen were not responsible for the miscommunication, but they are responsible for the terrible work that we are left with and the lack of customer service provided. The gentleman yelled at me, debated with me, and did not offer any help. They still left debris and logs in my yard. Meanwhile, two tall dead trees remain in my neighbors yard that are right next to the power lines. If you are looking for arborists, tastefully done work, GO ELSEWHERE. We feel completely violated by the way our property has been treated and exposed and heartbroken that our beautiful, mature trees given so much of our care and attention were treated SO carelessly.

Exemplary service great work

Birchcrest has taking care of my giant oak tree for over 12 years. They are thorough and efficient when they are completed everything is cleaned up not a branch to be found. My daughter has named the tree Aura. During the high wind storms this year she held up beautifully. I appreciated thier timeliness Edwin I wanted more cut off the tree they came right back and completed the job.. they stuck to their estimate and I would gladly suggest Birchcrest for any tree cutting needs. I didnt like there work. They came to my house to take down branches by power line. And I didnt even cut down one by power line and they just leaf the branches behind.

I first found Birchcrest Tree & Landscape Inc by doing a simple internet search. I ended up choosing the company to work with and was very happy with their services.

The crew from Birchcrest Tree & Landscape were very careful when it came to the process of taking our tree down. They also provided great clean-up which my family and I really appreciated.

Left a big mess of logs in my yard because it wasnt in the contract. Even dropped some of the logs from my tree in my neighbors yard. I never signed or saw any copy of the contract, now Im left to figure out what to do.

Birchcrest Tree & Landscape is by far the best in the business. We are able to go to them whenever we have questions regarding our tress, etc.

I called 2 time for an estimate. I was told the on the 1st call that someone would be out within the week. No one came so I called again and was told someone would come out the 1st part of this week and here is Friday and still no one has come out. I have now cancelled. Birchcrest cant even show up for an estimate so I WILL NOT consider Birchcrest to complete the job we need done. It is extremely disappointing. Also unfortunate for Birchcrest as this was a big job.

I had contacted two other companies before I found Birchcrest Tree, neither returned my calls, and when one finally did an estimate and set a date to complete the work but then never showed up. Birchcrest is reliable and professional and I was able to trust them, I will never call anyone else.

A tree fell down on our power lines with half of the tree still in the air! I called Birchcrest and they came within a few hours to give us an estimate. The gentleman who came out even looked at the rest of the trees on our property (by my request) and seemed very knowledgeable on what needed to go and what wasnt a problem after all. He told us they usually come out within 24hrs of signing the paperwork and he was right! He came out mid-late afternoon and the crew arrived by 10am the next day! Everyone was friendly and worked very efficiently. They used our neighbors driveway to gain access to the tree (after gaining permission), and cleaned up all the tree bits and leaves so nothing was left behind. The type of service we received took a lot of the bite out of paying $700 (wouldve been $800 if we had the stump removed) for something unexpected.

I was very satisfied with the work Birchcrest Tree and Landscape did for us. The staff were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. The job they did for us was completed on time and it looked great. We were very happy with everything.

Worst Tree trimming ever! Avoid at all cost.

My husband is very picky about our landscaping and lawn, but he loves the work these guys do! Anytime weve needed Brad to come over and take a look at things, he has. We have received excellent, straightforward information and work each and every time. I really appreciate the great job they have been doing for us!

We have a big lot so it was good to know that someone was able to bring it all together and handle it. Birchcrest Tree & Landscape had a great turnaround, and we have all good things to say about them.
