The biggest difference between Lawn Doctor and other lawn care providers is that we care more; the kind of caring that can only come from being local, and part of the greater community. If you are looking for a beautiful, healthy lawn that is free of mosquitoes and ticks, we have got you covered.
I had my yard looking very good before Lawn Doctor but due to my age and medical issues I needed some help with the fertilizer applications. Everything was fine as long as it was raining. My problem is this. A few weeks ago in the middle of a drought and heat wave they came and fertilized the yard. They had to know I didn’t have an irrigation system due to the fact the yard was definitely in distress. At the very least they should have asked me if I still wanted the treatment and if I did they should have told me that I had to water it. Looking at my neighbor’s yards which haven’t been watered either my yard looks a lot worse and it doesn’t look like it will come back. This last treatment did it in. I’ll have to hire someone in the fall to fix it which will probably be very costly. If you use them you will have to watch out because they put their bottom line ahead of results.
Father and Son team. Hard workers. On time and quality service. Provide professional advice and their prices are reasonable. They will take care of your lawn, but we have to make sure to water our lawn regularly.
Total of 3 services or applications have been provided by Lawn Doctor since inception. As a detailed observer, the overall service and ultimate outcome has been extremely gratifying. The timing of the applications appears to be justifiable and the representatives are genuinely professional and provides attention to details. Most certainly, I will continue utilizing the service.
I received an estimate for my property, but when I called to confirm and make payment the phone answered and played an awful rap song that repeatedly said “f%#k everybody” don’t know what going on, dialed again just incase and the caller answered and hung up. Super unprofessional
I have used Lawn Doctor for many years. They have been very professional in their dealings. I can depend on their service. I never have to worry about my lawn from early spring through the fall for making sure it is free of weeds and I get the added benefits of fertilizer for my lawn to make it look great throughout the summer.
I have been a Lawn Doctor customer for at least 30 years. They have always given excellent advice and service and my yard looks like it is being maintained by a professional. If take their advice and water regularly, you can't go wrong with them.
I've been with Lawn Doctor of Roanoke Valley a couple of years now and have been very satisfied, actually impressed, with their level of conscientious, hometown professionalism. For me, this amounts to a genuine balance of competence, responsiveness, fairness, and just plain kindness - not the artificial "customer service" type, but a flavor that's warm and real. There's a sense of true honor here. They've provided regular lawn fertilization and weed control, with occasional liming and overseeding, not to mention helpful consultations or referrals re problem areas. Because of poor soil, my lawn still has a ways to go, but I'm seeing progress. They've truly been a refreshing, trustworthy replacement for my previous, well-known provider, with whom I endured a season of disappointment. In my experience, the folks at Lawn Doctor of Roanoke Valley actually do what they say, when they say. I simply couldn't, wouldn't, recommend anyone else.
They seem to be very professional. However, do not get to talk with the techs since never know when they will be coming. Would be nice to know and be able to discuss things about our lawn with them. For the money, the treatments do seem to keep dandelions and most weeds under control, compared to our neighbors yards how they look.
Good service with friendly people. Always professional in their dealings with us.
Great company and communication!!
I have used them for many years. The lawn is looking better and better.
Great lawn service. Lawn looks great. No problems. Also on time and professional. Hassle free.
I love seeing the Lawn Doctor trucks pull up! My lawn has never looked better! It is thick and green with their programs they have!
On schedule. Provide excellent service.
Outstanding service. And the best mosquito abatement method and secret sauce.
I have used Lawn Doctor for several years. I have found the company and staff friendly and professional. Their services are reasonably priced, performed on time and very effective.
Excellent company. Great work ethic. On time and they do great work. Greatly recommended!
Rude and short with me
I used a national company for a number of years and my lawn kept getting worse and worse. Switched to Lawn Doctor three years ago. Saw immediate improvement. Now my lawn is the best one in the neighborhood or at least that is what the neighbors say.
Absolutely the best lawn company in the roanoke area.their process is the best as my yardstays weedfree and green the entire season without irrigation and through the hot spells. I highly recommend lawn doctor
Lawn Doctor does a great job. They always come on time. My yard looks great !
Wonderful service.
Absolutely the best lawn service Ive received. Extremely professional. I had used Trugreen for aeration. 1 person did my 1.5 acre (aeration and overseeding) in less than 15 minutes. Lawn Doctor came highly recommended. I had probably 6 men on multiple aeration units for probably 2 hours. They did an incredible job and put down almost 300 pounds of seed. (Trugreen used 1). My yard was well punched. I would recommend Shawn and the guys at Lawn Doctor to anyone looking for someone to treat their yard.
Quick and efficient staff. Took time to introduce themselves before starting and reassured that they will ensure to do a great job! Already see a difference within the first few days. Recommend Lawn Doctor
Very professional and was so willing to help when my husband was diagnosed with Prostate cancer last summer
Been using Lawn Doctor for years. They have provided excellent service on time and with quality. Always responsive to questions and concerns.
I have used Lawn Doctor for many years > they continue to provide excellent service.
Shawn and his team do a great job! They are friendly, prompt, reasonable and knowledgeable.
Not very successful with weed control and appearance of lawns.
the biggest problem I have with Lawn Doctor service is people wanting to buy my house. I certainly dont want to move now that the yard is so beautiful. So is it a good idea to hire these guys? Yes, they increase the beauty of your property and increase its appeal and value.
My yard looks 100% better after just one service from them. Im very pleased with their services and will definitely recommend them to others.
Service is always completed as scheduled; customer service is always excellent with prompt call backs. Priced appropriately for the service provided.
Good results with early spring broadleaf killer and feed, not so good results with crabgrass killer.
I hated worse company and worse service I been with them a year n half thought I had a good service but no weed all over my grass plus my grass is so bad I have called but no reply back I will recommend tru green is the best
The employees of Lawn Doctor are personable, professional, and helpful. They add to the good parts of life.
Lawn Doctor always makes my yard look better!
Always timely. Always courteous and professional never miss a spot. Thanks Dan! and all the crew; but I dont dance . . . not in the lawn. See you in the spring!
Im rating this company as 2-star for the following reasons: 1. They dont call or otherwise notify before they arrive. They come when Im at work, so with no advance notice theres no way to watch them work. This is problematic for me because of the following two reasons: 2. They dont respect requests to not spray herbicide. I understand that *most* people seed in the fall, but I have a bad problem with bare patches and Bermuda grass and wanted to seed in the spring and fall to try to stay on top of it. Two years in a row, I called and asked them not to put weed killer down, and two years in a row I put down seed (which isnt free!) and had nothing at all come up, despite cool temperatures, watering, and seeds germinating in the flower beds. 3. They dont seem to get good coverage on the weed killer. The side of my house has some large shrubs and its in shade, but the weeds over there and especially along my fence and around the heat pump grow fine. Im assuming the lawn personnel dont spray over there at all, but again, I dont know because I cant watch anyone do it because I dont know when its happening. Id call and complain (and I have), but thats difficult to do because: 4. No competent person ever answers the phone. Their phone number is a messaging service, where a secretary takes a message. The person that answers the phone, in the 2 years that Ive used this company, has not once ever been able to assist with anything. Whatever youre calling about gets forwarded to the (owner? manager?) who calls you at some point between 2 minutes and maybe 2 hours from then. Ive missed a call from him before by minutes, called the number back, and got the secretary again who said that shed have him call me again. The endless phone tag is a big hassle. 5. The service auto-renews. This is a minor annoyance, but its just one more point of irritation. I sign up for a year of service, all I want is a year of service. If I want more, Ill sign up on my own. On a positive note, the lawn personnel seem generally competent, the owner/manager is nice enough when you can get him on the phone, and the bulk of my yard (except for the hidden parts of my yard) have been largely weed-free for a long time now. Ive never noticed these guys put down a treatment immediately before or after a big rain, but I did witness TruGreen people putting treatment down *during* a flash flood warning (warning being the bad one - its actively flooding). So, in summary, the lawn personnel are largely competent, and the products are effective where theyre put, but communication is bad between the phone/office people and the actual lawn personnel. If they could ditch the messaging service and get a knowledgeable person to man the phones who actually talks to the lawn personnel Id probably change the rating to 5-star. All of my issues have been with communicating with the company.
