Ray, Dave, and the crew were awesome! They were there every day, on time and ready to work. They answered all my questions and did a fantastic job on the yard. They are a great team and Im glad we close Whelchel Landscape and Construction to redo our yard.

This is our second home where they have done our entire yard. Our first home was a beautiful Koi Pond, perennial flower beds and vegetable garden. At this home they did everything again, no pond but built a yard for our dogs and a separate area for the flowers and vegies. The entire staff is professional and courteous. They are the best and only company I will use.

Still pulling broken glass from my yard that came from the soil conditioner you said you got from Pete s Landscaping. This is dangerous and it s been 7 years. Still pulling glass. The soil conditioner came from the mesa or a dump alongside an abandoned road. The amount of glass has been insane and I told Bill immediately about the issue. He got mad when I asked where the soil Conditioner came from. He yelled he got it from Pete s landscaping, which is an outright lie. Bill, thanks for the soil conditioner, which I paid extra for. Glass continues to emerge. Shame on you. Response to owner s response: Bill Whelchel, you are lying 100%!! I have lived in this home for 30 years. There was NEVER any GLASS trash in my yard until you got mad and brought in the second load of soil conditioner which was loaded with weeds from the desert and GLASS. You actually tried to accuse Pete s landscaping as the source. This was 7 years ago, and glass still emerges when it rains. I do not understand where your morals are to do this to a lady and her property, blame Pete s Landscaping, and then try to lie and say there was already glass everywhere. I insist you take responsibility for this publicly and stop with the lies. I would never hold you accountable if the glass were already in my yard. You have destroyed my yard, I can never walk barefoot, and my pets could get injured baldly. How dare you!!!

My search is finally over. After years of trying different landscapers, I ve found the best for yard maintenance. Their attention to detail was so appreciated, as my yard has various gardens and varieties of plants. When they weren t sure about how I would want something, they simply asked. Believe it or not, this is hard to find. They were also knowledgeable about what many of my plants were, despite still being dormant. Other landscapers were doing a cookie cutter spring cleanup, while Whelchel was actually taking care of every detail unique to my individual yard. Although they didn t know it, they also came at a difficult time. Our old and deeply loved little dog had just passed away and we d buried her in a garden at the side of the house. I made her a little stepping stone and set it down where she was buried. Knowing the yard was a mess and the landscapers were coming, I decided I would go back later and properly get her stone situated after they were done. The day after they finished, my husband and I went out to take care of her stone and it was already done. Neatly set flush into the gravel and cleaned off.

My husband and I bought a home around two years ago with a big and sloped backyard. We didn t know exactly what to do with it. A friend recommended Whelchel Landscaping and I am so glad we chose to work with the Whelchel team. They helped us come up with a design for the backyard, and they agreed to do the work in phases. The first phase is now complete. They built a beautiful retaining wall, and they really transformed the look of our backyard. The Whelchel team is experienced, really easy to communicate with, and super professional. The prices are also reasonable. I recommend their work without hesitation.

We are very satisfied with the installation of artificial grass and rock edging. They sculptured the front pf the house with small colored rocks and trimmed shrubs, all very professionally. We are looking forward to the final step of planting shrubs along the driveway. All in all it has been a great company to work with and would hire them for any future projects.

Whelchel has been amazing in the landscaping of our front yard! They show up on time, the crew is easy to be around and respectful, they are meticulous and careful with their work , they do exactly what you ask, and they even clean up after themselves. We have been super impressed with this company and cannot recommend it highly enough. We cant wait to get the backyard done! With this company, you get what you pay for!

The owner was on-site during project (as stated by him) and let his workers incorrectly level, install the incorrect tree, install 3 different types of grass in their turf. The lawn surround is set at different levels. They cut off the last of the irrigation so none runs to that part of the yard. Basically all $6000 was shoddy workmanship and materials. They rushed it prepandemic, we called after the pandemic restrictions were lifted, his statement was; (its two years later, you cant go by that). I guess what hes saying is that a quality product wont last that long? We called to have him come look and his first instinct was to try to bully me. If your a women DO NOT go with this company as they do not stand by their work. I say...see you in small claims.

We used Whelchel Landscaping to build block walls in and along our property as well as landscape design. Dmitiri was very prompt, professional and patient during the whole process. He explained everything and was upfront about unexpected costs. Bill would call me and give me updates about the construction permits and other general updates. We will be using Whelchel Landscaping for our future projects.

I have no regrets hiring Whelchel Landscaping to redo our front and back yard! Dmitri was professional, responsive, accountable, and he and his crew did a phenomenal job! Dmitri gave me options on colors for the front and backyard rocks along with recommendations, and was able to get started quickly after meeting him for an estimate. They removed weeds, layered new weed barrier, added new rocks, trimmed bushes, and did general yard cleanup. They were done within 2 days left everything immaculate. I am very happy with the result, and I really recommend Whelchel Landscaping for your landscaping needs!

We just moved into a brand new house with bare dirt in the backyard. Dimitri met with us to walk through the yard. He listened to what we liked and our ideas. He provided a great plan that included trees, plants, a flagstone path, and a sideway around the side of our house from front to back. His plan was beyond our expectations and we loved it. Sergio and his crew implemented Dimitris plan expertly and very efficiently. We were very happy with how quickly the work was completed and by such professional yet friendly staff. Dimitri checked in with us regularly so communication was fantastic. The crew cleaned up everything when the job was completed. We have nothing but good things to say about Dimitri, Sergio, and the crew. We would definitely recommend this company for anyone with landscaping needs.

We presented Bill Whelchel with a fairly complex landscape design for our backyard and he came back with a comprehensive and competitive bid. We gave his company the nod and we were not disappointed. His crew was experienced, respectful and highly competent. They turned a large rectangle of dirt into an oasis of relaxation and enjoyment for us. They executed everything from an irrigation system to a detailed walkway of pavers and a sitting wall with a high degree of precision. We are thrilled with the final product and cant wait for all the plants to grow and bloom this spring. Dmitri was really good with ideas and managed the project well. It was a fairly large job. I liked how they used two different colored stones and made a walkway with huge stepping stones. The guys knew plants and were way beyond the typical workmen with their knowledge and professionalism. Dmitri checked often and made sure all was well.

We hired Whelchel Landscaping for a major landscaping project in our backyard. The company was outstanding from start to finish. Ray Whelchel identified our needs, submitted a fantastic design, and guided us through the process. The construction crew worked hard, communicated well, and completed the project on time. The final results are incredible, and all the work was done to a very high standard. We are incredibly happy with Whelchel s work and recommend them enthusiastically.

We hired Whelchel Landscaping for a total (Front grass/ Back yard Xeriscape) This was after estimates from several other contractors. Dmitri, the Estimator, was great to work with They actually started earlier than planned (very bury 2020 for good contractors) and they were all just good people to be around and did excellent work to specs and beyond. The 27- year old mess is gone and we can enjoy the back yard again The front yard (grass) looks great as well and all the irrigation work was done with top quality parts and looks really good, too, better than the original work They repaired a broken section of the sidewalk and leveled it where tree roots had heaved the slab several inches creating a hazard I would recommend this contractor for any type of landscaping work and the entire job has been a good experience

We had a small wall installed on the side of our home to replace a cheap metal fence, planted a new tree with new irrigation lines, and moved a couple rose bushes. The quality and efficiency of the work Whelchel did was wonderful. The masonry and landscaping was perfect and the crew got it done in two days between larger projects they had going on. It says a lot about a company when theyre willing to put in extra effort instead of wasting downtime. Had used Whelchel Landscaping 25 years ago when they had first started out. We had since moved to a different home and needed some landscape updating. Bill and Demitri came on time to give us a estimate. We needed gravel and plants added,some grass removed, sprinkler update,and a large tree removed that was pushing up against a common wall. Team showed up on time and all were very friendly and helpful. They took the tree down which was incredible to watch because they had to protect the wall and the adjacent pool. Workers were so efficient, and knowledgeable. The final product is beautiful and Dimitri was a pleasure to work with. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND...This job was done as well as it was 25 years ago!

Two thumbs up for Bill and the crew. Had them do quite a large job on my unfinished backyard. Had a few issues along the way, and Bill took care of them without a moments hesitation. I probably could of gotten the work done for cheaper, but it would of shown and not been worth it in the end. High end quality work.

Absolutely wonderful! Our dogs had torn up our back yard so there was only dirt left. Bill and my husband created a plan that included lots of concrete, new gravel, a nice patch of grass, irrigation to everything, and raising the wall. In addition to all that, they did a fire pit and bancos AND a wonderful bubbling rock. I could not be more pleased with the result! We now have usable space, accommodation for my Moms scooter and a beautiful oasis in the back. The icing on the cake was the extension of our driveway. Concrete poured so we can park all vehicles off the street. Crews were great to work with - friendly and professional. I would recommend Whelchel Landscaping for any job you may have. We would use Bills services again - no question about it!

I purchased my house knowing that my yard needed a lot of work. It was a hodgepodge of overgrown shrubs, broken flagstone and rotting railroad ties, an assortment of potted plants and a random splattering of multiple different types of gravel. I found Whelchel & Gleason via my Landscape Architect (Michael Polikoff Landscapes, who I would also highly recommend) and decided to go with Whelchel & Gleason on the basis of their detailed proposal, fair prices, and obvious professionalism. Bill Whelchel was very warm and approachable, professional, creative and worked well with my landscape architect. Bill was very helpful to figure out how to break the total project into phases, and he finished the first phase of the project on time and right on budget. No complications, no drama, no cutting corners, and everything was done right the first time. When corrections were necessary he and his team were right on it. Could not ask for more. My new backyard is absolutely beautiful and really transformed the look of my property. It looks well planned and finished. I would highly recommend Whelchel & Gleason for your landscaping project.

From inception to installation, Whelchel and Gleason Landscaping employees were courteous, helpful, professional and timely. After getting our estimate, which was certainly within the industry standard, we waited two weeks, during which time we picked out our gravel (online) and wall stones, shopped for plants and made sure we had chosen exactly what we wanted. The project manager, Brent, kept us in the loop with updating phone calls. Then on the scheduled date, the workmen arrived and the crew leader, Jeff, spent several minutes talking about my vision for my front yard. He really listened. During the entire process, they asked my opinion about placement of rocks and plants and advised me on various aspects of long-term effects. Every workmen was respectful and friendly, which meant a lot to us. Though the job was scheduled for two days, in just one day they had transformed my scrubby vacant lot of a front yard into a beautiful Zen-like xeriscape. They also built a raised bed next to my front door for me to use as an herb garden. I was struck speechless by the beauty of the finished project. Designed and poured a concrete patio which extended an existing patio. They came in and moved the existing gravel, leveled off the area, framed it, then on Saturday came back and poured the concrete. Landscaping team was prompt, courteous, and did an excellent job. - Alan Sevenbergen, Rio Rancho, NM
