CLC Landscape Design in Ringwood

Absolutely amazing! Just started using CLC this summer. Wish we called them years ago. After getting home from work in the dark last night, we were shocked by the fall clean up this morning. Cleaned out our dead flowers beds too. We are very Thankful:)

CLC is the best in the business. The design vision is matched only by their execution. We have used them for multiple projects and are delighted by the results and service.

Ive had a problem with water coming down the steep Hill of my backyard to my house. When it rains hard and fast the water seeps underneath my sliding glass door. Fortunately I have ceramic tile downstairs so it doesnt cause any damage but its really annoying. I had CLC redo the grating in my yard. They did a wonderful job. They rerouted the water around both sides of the house down to the street. Alex and the crew were very professional. They left my lawn nicer than it was before they started. I would definitely recommend them!

CLC far exceeded our expectations. The customer service was prompt, knowledgeable, and flexible. From when we reached out to when the project was done we less than a month, including adding landscape lighting and coming back to mulch over newly installed drip watering lines. CLC did an INCREDIBLE job with our landscaping. They took the whole feeling of our outdoor space (and our curb appeal) to a new level. At the outset, it was really noticeable how responsive, creative, and passionate CLC is about their projects. Eric really studied the space, listened, and then shaped a plan that we all got so excited about and that he and his team fully delivered on. We also appreciated their willingness to incorporate a few elements we really wanted, and in ways that would make sense. CLC was truly amazing to work with. Our yard project was a challenge given we live on a steeped hill and there was no access for any large machines. CLC helped get creative and did a truly remarkable job. We love our finished product. From the design/plans, variance approval, and build out, they made everything feel easy and like we were receiving white glove service. When things went wrong, they repeatedly fixed our every problem without making a challenge for us. We asked them to switch out a large bluestone slab step that weighed 100s of pounds, and they did it no problem. When our pavers got stained from a deck project, they replaced them at no cost to us. Even at the end, after we had paid them, we wanted to slightly round out an edge on our patio, they sent someone over and made it easy. I cannot emphasize enough how wonderful they were to work with. If anyone I know is doing a yard project, I will always recommend CLC.

Eric and his crew did an excellent job. They turned the slope in my backyard that had the original 60+ year dying landscape on an eroding hill and turned it into a mini oasis. They were very professional, clean and efficient. Looking at their previous reviews I wasnt going to call them as I thought that my job may be too small for them. They had no problem with the size of the job. I ended up having them do the front yard too. I would and already have highly recommended CLC to friends and would definitely use CLC Landscape Design again. Btw, Garys input was great too.

We worked with CLC this spring to install a street-grade paver patio and to do full-yard cleanup and landscaping. We could not be more pleased with our experience working with the whole CLC team! Our initial estimate appointment with Eric was easy to schedule and we received our estimate same-day. We had spoken with several other landscape designers, but none were as responsive and prepared to schedule the work as soon as CLC. Gary was a great resource to us as project manager at all stages of our project and he was highly communicative. Rich Jr. brought beautiful vision to executing our cleanup and landscaping and he thoroughly walked us through caring for our new yard. And Leo our foreman who was onsite daily was the most professional and nicest specialist we have had the pleasure of working with - his attention to detail is unmatched. Throughout the project we were so pleased that CLC made thoughtful suggestions about additional improvements we could make once the hardscaping and landscaping were underway. CLC Landscape Design is on their last day of a nearly 8-week project at my home. I am sad to see these guys go an unusual reaction and an unusual experience thus this review. The project spanned a wide range of needs from drainage work to design and execution of the landscaping of our entire property and the accompanying lighting. It required sophisticated knowledge and a whole host of varied equipment at every stage. CLC had it in spades. I am someone who cares about detail and the team was always one step ahead of me. I learned that it starts with the founder of the company, Rich Sr who runs the operations seamlessly while also empowering his crews to make decisions on the spot (what a welcome change from most organizations). Our project manager, Brian, ran every single aspect of our job meticulously and with incredible flair, supported by an uber talented daily team managed by Andrew and supported by Emilio and Ben. We started this project after taking a two-year break after renovating our home to take a breath and decide how best to approach the landscaping to match the feeling of the house. We had loose and broad ideas that CLC brought to life by guiding our instincts and changing direction when needed. What CLC created is not only aesthetically beautiful, but also the perfect complement to the design of our house and meticulously executed. I have worked on many home projects interior and exterior so my expectations and demands were not simplistic. And boy did CLC deliver no pushing them, no pleading with them no friction. Rather a fun experience. Run don t walk to hiring them.

We enjoyed a remarkable garden transformation thanks to Andrew, Ben, Obilio and Robert from CLC Landscape Design in Ringwood. I won a small tree as a prize in a gala fundraiser and from that, they visited my home, toured the property, asked about our dreams and goals for the yard, and then came up with and installed a gorgeous garden, including four tree hydrangeas, a sugar maple, a beautiful pool surround and more. I highly recommend this excellent, knowledgeable, friendly, and likeable team of hard-working landscape experts and would definitely work with them again soon!

We started working with CLC Landscape Design about 18 months ago. We were planning a substantial renovation project on our house and it was going to greatly impact our backyard. Our house is on a mountain and the grading is really challenging. We had been concerned about the impact on the backyard and the overall flow as soon as we started to design the house project. CLC came in and put together a design that maximized the usable space in our yard and added a ton of character. The project involved numerous retaining walls, filling in deep trenches from the previous owner, improving the drainage, new hardscaping throughout the backyard which also included a steep section for numerous stairs. From design to hardscaping to plantings to sodding, the whole project came together perfectly. Our project manager Rob was great to work with on a daily basis and Sammy, the foreman on the ground is super-talented and respectful. Our design upfront was done by Tim and he is a rock star. Got the design to our liking at nearly the first pass. The owner Rich even stepped in personally throughout the project and offered his suggestions for a number of design elements. They also coordinated really nicely with our other contractors on the job which made our lives a lot easier. I would recommend CLC to anyone looking for top notch work. From what I understand, they are not going to be the cheapest option out there, but who wants that when it comes to this stuff? Im happy to pay their rate for the quality of work they provide. Outstanding company with over-the-top service! From start to finish, I was impressed by the whole team. Andrew and his crew did a fantastic job with my lawn, and installation of pipes for drainage. Andrew was professional and courteous, and answered all of my questions. He and his team are very thorough and knowledgeable about plants and lawn care, and they left my place spotless. Prices were fair, too! I would highly recommend CLC Landscaping.

For years my wife and I discussed building a pool in our backyard. Since the majority of our backyard has an easement running through it, we needed a company who has experience with complex projects, partners with the right subcontractors, and is familiar with our towns regulations. I reached out to CLC Landscape Design and Rich Cording, the owner, took time to review our survey to confirm that a pool was feasible given the easement. We first met with Frank, our landscape designer, who had all the right landscaping / pool design ideas. After incorporating the things that we really wanted as part of our pool/backyard redesign, he came back with 3 different landscape designs that really brought our vision to life. Once we landed on the right design, CLC began the process to transform our backyard to our dream oasis. Gary, our project manager, who never missed a beat, seamlessly coordinated the team and all the subcontractors to get the job done timely and without any issues. He was always thoughtful in his communications and execution of the work. I couldnt have asked for a better project manager. The project entailed a 34x16 pool, decking and bluestone pavers, fire pit, retailing/seat walls, rockeries, landscape lighting and Rich Jr s artistic selection of plants and trees, which he strategically placed to truly stand out! While CLC employees each have a craft of their own, I have to call out Delfino, who was the on the ground one-of-a-kind guy that gets the work done with perfection! Ive had drainage issues ever since my neighbors installed a retaining wall along the property line. Rain water would now collect in my yard instead of running down to their driveway. My backyard consists of a very steep hill running down to my house and straight to my ground-level sliding glass door. When it rained hard and fast I often had water coming under the door. I had a landscaper come over not once but twice to regrade my backyard but unfortunately it never improved the situation. Then I contacted CLC. A licensed Landscape architect come over and reviewed my property to come up with a solution. They spent an entire week installing a swale and drainage system from my backyard all the way down to the street. I have to say that when they were finished, my yard looked much better than it had before because they left it nicely graded and all the autumn leaves had been bagged and put at the curbside. Since then weve had several of those hard, drenching rainstorms come through. Each time, I would tentatively go downstairs to see what the damage was but there wasnt any! Every time it rained, the patio outside my door and my downstairs were bone dry. You just cant imagine what a relief its been to not have to dread the rainy weather. Alex and his crew from CLC were polite and professional and I cant say enough about them. I highly recommend them because they know what theyre doing and they do it well!

We used CLC for both landscape design and renovation of nearly all of our plant beds, plus creation of some new beds. We worked with Sean on the design and he did a great job listening to our concerns and took our input and feedback to revise the plan several times before finalizing. We were very concerned about deer-resistant plantings and taking into account big differences in sunlight and moisture in different parts of our yard. Sean took that into account. Brian and Gabriel were in charge of installation and made sure that we were happy with specific plant selections and placements. The quality and size of the plants were excellent; CLC didnt try to cut corners on small or inferior plants. In a few instances, we asked that the initial location for some plantings be changed, and Brian and Gabriel promptly made the changes to our satisfaction. Overall organization, communication, and professionalism of CLC were excellent. Highly recommended.

We needed our backyard remodeled and decided on using CLC Landscape Design. We contacted CLC, and Rich Cording, the owner, came by to walk through and provide suggestions on the layout and assigned his Project manager, Nick, and his team to work with us to decide on products, hardscape design, and plantings. We had CLC do a fairly large landscaping project at our house and Eric and his crew went above and beyond. They were always on time and willing to make changes on the fly. The final product came out awesome and even better than I imagined. CLC will be back for some more work at my house very soon.

CLC did an absolutely fantastic job on our giant backyard renovation. From the workers doing the actual job, to architect, to site manager and all people involved, we had a beautiful experience. The work was professional, thoughtful, unique, and specific to our wants and needs. We felt like we were heard with requests and any concerns, all of which was addressed in a timely manner. In spite of the amount of work we were having done, each day the yard was cleaned of any loose debris keeping it a safe environment for our small children and dogs. Full landscape design, patios/deck, hardscaping/grading, drainage, plantings, new driveways, etc. Both instances are the best experiences Ive ever had with a landscape firm, contractor, etc. The business is run by quality human beings who care about what they do, how they do it, how long it will take all while being budget conscious. Rich Cording sets an incredible and empathic tone for the company that is carried by his sons Rich Jr. and Eric, as well as the staff and sub-contractors hired. Our garden has been blooming since early Spring and we are in heaven. We use our backyard more often to eat a meal al fresco, or sit beside the fire table. We use the front door more frequently to enjoy the beautiful landscaping. In January, CLC completed a five-month landscape renovation for our home in Maplewood, New Jersey. The project involved the entire property. We filled in a sunken patio in the back yard to bring it up to the same grade as the lawn. CLC removed a poured concrete retaining wall on the driveway and replaced it with fieldstone. The stairs to the porch and kitchen door were reconfigured, widening the driveway two feet. In the front yard, CLC built new blue stone walkways and fieldstone pillars on a landing next to the street. The project ran smooth as glass from start to finish. CLC managed every subcontractor seamlessly. The communication was incredible we were always informed about what was planned on a given day or week. We had several months of heavy equipment and mud unavoidable given the scale of the project. But the crew was always conscientious. They kept walkways tidy, closed fences for our dog, and stopped work to help our elderly parent to and from a car. The crew are amazing craftsmen. Their attention to detail and quality of their work is unparalleled. There were no major problems, despite unique challenges re-routing gutters, and solving for regular soggy spots when it rained. It was so exciting when sod, bushes, trees, and flowers were planted. In a couple of days, the project went from hardscape to fully planted and trimmed. CLC walked us through the placement of plants to show off the architecture of the house and to bring color in drab winter months. I whole-heartedly recommend CLC for renovations large or small. The constant communication with the foreman, project manager, and owners made us feel very confident that the project was in excellent hands and we could raise a concern before it became a roadblock. The quality of their work is exceptional. Neighbors and strangers alike comment about how beautiful it looks. It brings joy every day.

We did a complete overhaul of our landscape with CLC and we had a great experience. The staff, from the owner to the designer to the project manager and workers were very professional, responsive, and overall great to work with. They handled every detail including permits and communication with subcontractors. They listened to what we were looking for and suggested plantings and layouts that made sense. They answered all of our questions. They finished on time and on budget. Many neighbors commented on how terrific the workers were, even coming on weekends to water new plantings before the irrigation was set up. When rabbits devoured some of our new plants, they quickly replaced with less palatable ones. We are enjoying our new space, filled with color! For reference, our PM was Brian, and workers were Salvador, Carlos, Marvin, Gaby and Juanito.

I contracted with CLC in Fall of 2022 for a project that lasted through Summer of 2023. I wanted to work with a company that had an all-in-one designer and manager who could ensure that all the individual pieces of the project would fit together seamlessly. CLC met all of those expectations and more! We now have a paver patio and a pea gravel living area with a complete irrigation + grading overhaul. We also contracted with their partners to add a fence, trex deck, basketball court and irrigation system - all of this managed by CLC. Our backyard transformed from a dull, swampy, unused area to a beautiful outdoor living area - our family now spends all day out here! The time and detail to the irrigation was especially top notch and the entire project is now essentially one giant drainage system that takes water away from the house and towards the street. This property has a danger of flooding in severe storms and was constantly muddy with even the slightest rain so I now have peace of mind that our interior is secure. A little sharing - when we signed onto this project money was cheap and the economy was very different. Fast forward to just one year later, we were in the middle of a recession and my company and my industry were getting hammered with layoffs left and right and all of a sudden every penny of this project really mattered. CLC was able to accommodate my budget while still keeping the project on track and with high quality meeting all of our needs. I kind of knew we were small potatoes compared to their other clients but we still felt valued and appreciated as if that werent the case. In particular, our project manager Gary was really patient and accommodating with all of the questions and really did a great job managing the project, the team and me the client. Tim, our designer, also went above and beyond by coming to visit site on multiple occasions just to make sure that our irrigation and budget concerns were addressed after we requested changes. Kudos to you both and the entire CLC team and thank you for your excellent work!

I am a repeat client, with our second project being a full renovation: hardscape, decking, drainage, tree removal, pergola, lighting, sprinklers, fencing, and complete overhaul of beds and plantings. We recently worked with CLC on a fairly extensive backyard (re)engineering project that included putting in a new patio and outdoor kitchen and reclaiming a formerly swamp-filled corner of our yard, and have been thrilled with the results. From the day they showed up on site to begin work, our project manager Gary and his team, Delfino and Carlos, were excellent in all phases of the project. Gary first walked us through the staging of the project and then regularly kept us informed as to what the team was working on and what was coming next, so we knew what to expect (and roughly when). In addition, we really appreciated the collaborative approach taken by Gary and Rich Jr., the owner s son, in continuing to share ideas with us as the work progressed, suggesting areas where we might consider small design changes in light of challenges presented by our property which may not have been apparent before they started digging. While always deferring to our ultimate decision, those conversations led to a number of improvements to our original design that made more sense (and looked amazing) and now we can t imagine having done things differently. Rich Jr. was also a wizard with his plantings palate, taking our temperature on the colors, styles and types of plants we preferred, then combining that feedback into a beautifully landscaped finished product that reflected our personality while using plants particularly suited to grow in our yard. Finally, a particular call-out to Gary and the team s engineering prowess. When we first started the project, we thought our patio replacement would be a pretty easy swap and replace. However, when the removal of the original patio revealed groundwater issues we had not been expecting, the team simply changed gears and built in additional trenching and drains to dry out the site, so they could execute on the intended design. This type of sophistication and flexibility was greatly appreciated on a project that turned out to be much more extensive in practice than we had first thought when we saw it on paper. All in all, we would recommend CLC s work, and look forward to hopefully teaming with them on some additional work on our property in the future.

CLC provided insight, design and delivery that far exceeded my wildest dreams. I bought the house of my dreams a year ago, but there were seriously hazardous elements to the outdoor space, particularly steps leading from the driveway up toward the front of the house. I knew they needed replacing, but I could not envision how the existing design could or should be replaced. Eric put me at ease immediately, using laymans terms in describing his plan for the front, but also making recommendations for several other jobs around the property. Words fall short in describing the finished product. As I drive around the neighborhood, I find myself assessing other jobs that have been done or in the process of being done, and I wish they had asked for my recommendations. We absolutely loved working with Eric from CLC; he helped to truly transform the splendor of our residential propertys front yard in 2023! Eric envisioned a really smart, tasteful plan to remove all the original shrubbery that lined the front of the home, clean the beds, redefine them, and install topsoil and mulch to the area. The biggest change was creating a new bed along the length of the driveway; it has done wonders for the visual appeal of the property, let me tell you! We didnt take great pictures, but Erics work to take a small existing bed, lengthen it, and then install assorted perennials has given our home immensely improved curb appeal. A funny, charming dude who is easy to work with, Eric has a wonderful eye for pops of color and knowing what meshes well together. His suggestions of hakone grass, catmint, allium, karl foerster grass, and Russian sage have been on point; its been a learning experience for me, as most of these were new species altogether to me, but Eric makes the project easy. He takes his time on the property, surveys it thoughtfully, and arrives at a multitude of ideas, which can be taken a la carte. So, thats what we did when we attacked the front yard. In years to come, we hope to be fortunate enough to address other areas of the property. True to his word, his plantings took hold, and we look forward to seeing them blossom again in spring 2024. One thing I also enjoyed working with Eric was that it was truly a family affair. His brother, Rich, made some slight suggestions as the project came to fruition, which only made the work even better. Eric also allows for give-and-take between himself and the homeowner, and we spent some time re-imagining the front space. We envisaged together a place for a small gravel nook, handsomely done with slabs of stone, which now has an Adirondack chair placed on it. It allows for a small little oasis and a cozy area to sit and admire the work and the changing seasons. Though we only have a modest-sized area in which to work, through CLCs smart landscape design, the look and feel of our property has been majorly enhanced. It seriously adds so much, taking the blah earth tones and sad shrubbery we inherited and punching them up to 11! All this to say: Give them a shout when it comes to landscape architecture and fine gardening. I know were looking forward to working on other projects with Eric in the years to come.

Our family moved into our new home last year, and one of the things that we were most excited about was the outdoor space in our backyard. While it was already beautiful and large, there just wasnt a lot of cohesion with the plantings and it had been designed to be more compartmentalized which prevented any natural, open flow for the space. After going through an extensive vetting process, we decided to work with CLC because they gave us confidence that they were not only great landscapers, but also excellent thought partners in the design overall. From the very start, there were multiple conversations about the look and feel we were hoping to create, and their design staff took it from there to produce something truly on point and beautiful. This was a massive job with many moving parts, and the thing we were most impressed with was how seamless the outcome appeared to be, because we know there was an immense amount of effort that went into the production. The responsiveness and professionalism of the entire staff all the way up to the owner operators (its always been family owned!) was evident throughout the project, and we are excited to work with them again on Phase 2 (aka the front yard) next Spring. I cannot recommend CLC highly enough!

I highly recommend CLC. I engaged the company to create a complete multi-phase landscape design project for my home in Wyckoff and they delivered. The quality of their work was fantastic; they certainly know what theyre doing and its evident in everything that they do. The project included replacing the vast majority of plantings around the perimeter of the home, exterior lighting, large-scale new plantings above a retaining wall, and significant drainage work with related grading and sod work. They worked with me to tweak the project until I was 100% satisfied, explaining to me their thoughts along the way and opening my eyes to things I had never considered. Then when the time was right, they fit me into their schedule when it was possible for them - and, believe me, they are BUSY and in demand (certainly a testament to the quality of their work and the customer experience). This included trenching/electrical work, installing a fence, plantings, removing 15+ trees, planting 14 more, relocating 12 giant arborvitaes, installing 16 zone irrigation system, re-grading our backyard, and installing an underground gutter overflow tank system to prevent future basement flooding in another Ida rain situation. They are amazing to work with and we would hire them again, in a heartbeat. High touch and responsive, even after the job is completed! We are still in touch with our original hardscape designer, project foreman, and our plantings landscape designer. They don t do all the work but have strong relationships with companies for what they don t do and work pretty seamlessly with them. They gave us an estimate of 8 weeks and they hired an army of people and machinery to hit that window, which is incredible for any contracting company. Wed love to give shout outs to Gary, Rich Jr, Dave, and Joe (who threw in a very nice haircut for our Magnolia tree). They were all wonderful to work with and in fact just today we had Gary reach out, and when we said we had a couple plants that were struggling (which is a ridiculously low amount especially considering the heat and low rain we had this summer) he came out right away and explained that one will be replaced, and the other he trimmed and gave us advice on future care. Overall we are very happy with the experience and the end result.

CLC was great to work with from start to finish. Our project started with meeting the landscape designer to understand what we were looking for and then breaking the project down into phases. The first phase which completed over the summer was adding landscaping all around the house, including lighting and an outdoor kitchen in the back. Future phase includes the addition of a pool and it s surrounding landscaping. The communication, quality of work and follow-up even after completion was fantastic. We did a landscaping project with CLC in our front and backyard and are really happy with the completed work. Our project included planting, grading, irrigation, drainage, a fence, patio, pergola, and outdoor kitchen. We started by working with a designer at CLC to come up with a plan based on our goals. When we were ready to move forward, they connected us with their recommended contacts for things like fencing, kitchen, and pergola. We appreciated having their network of connections because its hard to know whos good, communicated well, etc. Once we broke ground they managed the project and coordination from start to finish, including all the hardscaping, landscaping, and masonry, which CLC does in house. We enjoyed CLCs approach to planting: we got to see trees, shrubs, and flowers in place to make sure we liked the look. The final product is really beautiful and were sure well enjoy it for many years.

Working with Rich Sr, my project manager Nick, James, and Frank was an enjoyable experience start to finish - from design to installation. After building the house, we installed a significant amount of landscaping and they could not have been easier to work with. We engaged CLC for a comprehensive update of our new home s landscaping from design to plantings and landscape lighting. Frank s design work was excellent incorporating many changes, great concepts and unique ideas and a 3D view of the finished product. Rich, Nick, Daniel and the crew then met with us on site to walk through all the details in what was a very useful meeting making some tweaks to the plan. We then had a crew of CLC landscapers that were absolutely outstanding - hard working, meticulous (pruning, tree removal, planting, masonry, lighting, etc). The trees, shrubs, annuals and perennials planted were perfect and high quality. We are thrilled with the final product and the follow up to make sure everything is as we expected has been great. This was Phase 1 - can t wait to work with the CLC team in the Fall on the rest of the plan, including a pool/spa and outdoor kitchen on a new patio with beautiful landscaping.

Our exceptional foreman, Ricky, took over from there to make our landscape dreams a reality! He is a true artist and utmost professional, as was his entire crew. They arrived promptly every morning and worked tirelessly through the summer heat. Ricky and his crew built the most stunning patios and gorgeous stone fire pit. Our yard was always left as neatly as possible at the end of each day. Ricky also leveled our entire yard including the back of our sloped property and created an amazing rockery to help us gain so much more usable space. We were blown away by how expertly and quickly the sod was rolled out and placed over our entire yard, too. Ricky was a perfectionist in the best possible way and the pride he takes in his work can be seen in our beautiful yard. Additionally, he built 3 raised garden beds for me that Im currently enjoying! Although Ive thought about installing a patio for several years... the pandemic forced isolation made me get serious. After fruitless searches nearby, I cast a wider net and found CLC Design on Houzz. Their project photos revealed the sophisticated, understated, harmonious design language I was seeking. Their landscape design process is iterative... and we arrived at a landscape plan I was pleased with. Sadly, their project backlog meant I had to wait a year(!) before they could start building it. So I used the time to shop online for patio furniture and accessories (Crate & Barrel, CB2, Frontgate, Pottery Barn). This is no mom & pop company. One week before they started, they dropped off two earth moving machines and a porta-potty. The neighbors were intrigued. I was intrigued. The project manager - Gary - said to me the day they started Ready? Were going to exceed your expectations. Oh sure, you re supposed to say that, I thought. Well see, given my high expectations. Jorge and Pastor - cousins with immense experience - arrived and off we go. They carved out the backyard, hand-laid a beautiful rock retaining wall, constructed a dry well and all the subterranean drainage pipes and garden beds, and carefully laid out the bluestone patio... using various grades of stone underneath, and levels to ensure proper drainage. I work from home and saw it all... day by day. These men are craftsmen of the highest caliber... so efficient in their movements, frequently pausing to make adjustments. On plant day, Gary shows up with trucks (thats plural) of plantings. The neighbors gathered to watch an impressive show... Gary using an over-abundance of plants as if painting with a palette of them... adjusting for views from every angle of seating.. and in harmony with his lighting design. He had to shoo away all the spectators so he could carry on. Then.... the irrigation team arrived. I had foolishly told CLC Design I would do my own watering (to save money). Rich - the owner - wisely had me re-consider. Their irrigation company (see their link on CLC Designs website) installed 9 watering zones, which I control via my iPhone. Once the irrigation was laid (including the electric wiring for the outside lighting) , CLC Design laid the sod, cleaned off the patio, tweaked the sprinklers, and carried my furniture (stored in my garage) to the patio. As I sat on my patio last night, reading a book, a neighbor - unaware of my presence - brought other neighbors over to give a tour. I didnt mind... I was happy to show off the results. The project was well-managed, well-designed, sophisticated in its many layers of execution, knowledge of stone and dirt and water and plants, realistic timelines and costs, and deserving of my highest praise and recommendation. CLC Design has created a wonderful, understated, peaceful garden refuge... and Gary was right... they exceeded my already high expectations.

While our project may have been a smaller one, we were still treated the same and given the same attention and detail as a much larger project. The design phase of the project was invaluable as the created renderings really helped us envision what the end goal would look like. Next, when it was time to break ground, our initial project manager Alex went above and beyond, even taking time out on a Saturday to go stone shopping with us. When Alex had to attend to a family emergency, CLC quickly adjusted and sent us the dynamic duo of Gary and Pat who immediately stepped in, took ownership of the project, and made sure everything continued to run smoothly. Gary, in particular, was in constant communication with us, keeping us updated on project details and assuring us that everything would stay on track. He s a Zen master - when he says don t worry, we re going to fix this/do this instead/I have a better idea, you just feel confident about the end result. Our foreman, Enrique, also deserves an honorable mention as someone incredibly detail-oriented, who always wanted to do things the right way, no shortcuts. He treated our yard as if it was his own, constantly trying to make everything perfect. We appreciated even the little things he did - like staging plants/trees in the shade to protect them from the hot sun or even coming in on a weekend to water those plants. Everything he did demonstrated the attention, care, and pride in his work. Things would look good to us but not to Enrique s sharp eye, and he d smile and go over it one more time just to be certain. Was our project 100% completely smooth? Of course not, no project is, but Pat/Gary/Enrique/Alex and the rest of the CLC team always adjusted, tackled issues, gave us advice, and figured out the best way to solve whatever problem was at hand, which left us feeling at ease. And, in the end, after the work was finished, everything was cleaned up, no debris left behind, Gary continued checking up on us, weeks later, to ensure our sod is growing properly. And now we can sit back and enjoy a beautiful backyard that we know was done the right way and will provide us with joy for many years to come.

We worked with CLC Landscape Design to create our backyard oasis that includes a pool and extensive landscaping and plantings as well as a drainage swale arcing around the entire area. The fact that this project was created out of a steep and wooded slope is where the vision and professionalism of CLC and Rich, Jr. really came into play. In addition to working through several iterations of plans until we finally settled on a design that really felt right, Rich and the CLC team were in constant communication with us about the progress of engineering studies, permits and approvals. When construction began, the clear and frequent communication really intensified and Rich was on site consistently to oversee progress as well as to incorporate the inevitable revisions and additions to the plan. Working with an experienced and creative team was critical to us and led us to work with CLC; this was especially important as we pulled together all of the ancillary pieces including fencing and both ideas and contractors to finish our pool cabana. CLC is knowledgeable and literally a one-stop provider for a major project due to their extensive network of subcontractors, many of whom we still use to this day for annual maintenance of various elements. CLC is also a very responsive and professional organization; Rich Jr., in addition to being extremely knowledgeable and creative, is a pleasure to work with - he listens and he cares and wants to ensure that his customers are satisfied. I always remember during the planning phase that my wife made a comment about how she liked Lavender as a planting; Rich Jr. always remembered that and made a point to incorporate Lavender into the design. CLC recently completed a much smaller project for us in restructuring the plantings on the slope in front of our home. Even through it was a smaller scale undertaking, Rich Jr. again LISTENED to the things that were important to my wife in terms of appearance and was sure to incorporate them into the final product. As always, CLC was responsive and communicated clearly throughout the redesign of our landscape and provided the very same attention to detail that was present in our much larger backyard project. Recently purchased a new home and the front yard was completely overgrown and outdated. There were multiple trees right next to the front of the house that were overtaking the sidewalks and all of the bushes/plants/weeds were growing on top of each other. We couldn t be happier with our new backyard. We love every inch and we got everything on our wishlist. We enjoy our new fire pit area almost every night. The landscape architect Ryan did a great job and was very professional. Our project manager was AMAZING! He checked in every day and even came back for several days after the job was done. The level of care and attention Gary provided even after the job was done was impressive. He helped me decide on plants that would bring color to our backyard while still being deer resistant. I even got a Magnolia tree which I ve always wanted. Can t wait for next spring when all the plants will come to life. I ve attached before and after pics though the after does not do it justice.

Working with CLC was fantastic. From the initial engagement , to the design process, and the actual work, we couldn t have been more pleased. The work was done timely and well coordinated with other vendors as part of a whole backyard renovation with a new pool and deck. I found CLC Landscaping on Instagram and was very impressed by their work. Our job was much smaller in scale then some of the work they do but I called to ask if they were interested and was happy to learn they did smaller jobs as well. Eric came to the house to discuss the options, provided a quote and a list his suggested plantings. Just over a week later his team removed the existing plantings, updated the beddings and installed the new plantings. I will update with picture in the Spring as this was a late Fall install. CLC recently completed a total revamp of our backyard to include a pool and outdoor living space. Our property was rather challenging with wetland boundaries, endangered wildlife concerns, odd property lines and limited space. Even after several other companies had turned us down on account of complexity, CLC handled the project with ease from start to finish. We engaged CLC to design and plant shrubbery and trees in the front yard of a newly purchased home in Westfield, NJ. The CLC staff was cordial, professional and timely. An onsite consult yielded a very nice design. The work commenced on time. The existing shrubbery was removed and the new pieces were ordered, delivered and planted according to schedule. Last year we bought our first home, had our first child and with that received our first dose of adult spending on many more real life bills, home improvements, and the rest of the usual suspects. An exciting and stressful time for anyone. We were set on wasting no time making the house a home inside and out and are huge believers in the rule of thumb that at least 10% of your home value should go into landscaping. We had a yard for the first time and we wanted to use it. We live on a busier street so we wanted our backyard, specifically, to be a quiet retreat and also act as additional living space in the fair weather months. And most importantly they delivered on everything we wanted...and more! 2 anecdotes (of many) we d like to share - we were hosting a party at our house and really wanted the yard ready. Our timeline was a little aggressive but CLC bent over backwards and got it done. Later we had a baby blessing ceremony in the yard with our families at the beginning of autumn. Eric became aware of this and the morning of our ceremony, their fine gardener showed up replacing some of the potted plants around our sitting area with fresh seasonal plants and some additional decorative items. No charge. A genuine gesture. A gift. We truly hope this review helps somebody to find this great partner. Investing in your home should be something you feel good about, you should love the results and when applicable be increasing your homes value. Too often this isn t the experience people have. We had a steep slope with a failing retaining wall in our back yard. CLC came fully prepared with thoughtful and professional options to remedy our situation within our budget. Over the past 8 years, CLC has completed several major projects at our home. I huge pine tree died on large visible corner spot of of our lawn. CLC landscaped it with a large rock and a combination of 15 plants to bloom differently for each season. They did a great job and weve gotten compliments from all our neighbors.

From start to finish CLC was first class. From getting back to us immediately for an initial consultation, drawing up plans, budgets and through construction they were very easy to work with. The entire operation is hands on, responsive and professional. We had them redesign our front yard and they insisted on using a lot of the material we already had to save money. Also had them redesign landscaping in the back yard, our back patio and part of the walkway after an addition was put on. The results exceeded our expectations. It was an extremely challenging project due to existing structures and layout. But given their professionalism and expertise they were able to find solutions that created a whole new space that we have received many compliments on already.They also were able to complete the entire project in time for our daughter s 16th birthday. Keep in mind this was all going on during the Covid 19 pandemic when material and labor was not easy to come by. Special thanks to Rich Jr and his guys for making that happen. CLC Landscaping completely revitalized the landscaping on my property. I had a combination of dirt and weeds for a lawn and minimal plantings. Rich took the time to personally review every area of the yard with me and wrote up a plan on how best to utilize the property in a creative and exciting way based on my budget. It was extremely exciting to see my yard go through such a transformation. I notice everyone now staring at my landscaping when they walk by my house. We recently hired CLC to provide a full house design with the first phase being our pool area. From the initial site visit with Eric to the design with Kevin and the meetings with Rich Sr. and Rich Jr., they all took their time talking through what we liked / didn t like and developed a plan based on our input and their expertise of what would work best in the area. Rich Sr. discussed the final details of the layout and proposal with us and then we met with his son Rich Jr. to review the actual plant choices outside prior to planting. The CLC team took great care in the demolition / preparation phase and even preserved some of our original landscaping to incorporate in the new design. My husband and I interviewed a few landscape design companies but ultimately decided on CLC Landscape Design which was a very wise decision. Although our front landscaping project was only a one day project, James took on the project with the same enthusiasm and consideration as if it were a much larger project. The front landscape had bushes that were 30 years old and overgrown. We did not want to rip out everything but just freshen things ups. Whereas other companies asked us to pick out our own plants just throwing out ideas, James and his brother, Rich, came up with a design that had an artistic vision which incorporated some of the old plants with the new ones. We were very pleased with the finished project! Everyone at the company was a pleasure to deal with from beginning to end. They were responsive, punctual, kind and communicated very well especially when we had to put the project on hold due to this past extremely hot summer when planting was not recommended. As soon as the weather became nicer, CLC was right there to start the project. During the removal process we realized some of the older plants did not look right without the other bushes flanking them. James had brought extra plants with him and was able to quickly problem solve which resulted in a great look that we were very happy with. We highly recommend CLC and would not hesitate to use them again for future landscape projects.

We couldn t travel due to the virus. We decided to update our landscaping in our backyard if we were going to be home a lot. So we contacted CLC Landscaping and told them what we were looking to accomplish. They listened and developed a plan to achieve our stated goals. The completed work is simply amazing! Chasing the company for 4 weeks for design.... not very professional experience.

CLC exceeded our expectations once again! We first used CLC Landscape Design on our Townhouse in 2012 with incredible results. In 2019 when we upgraded to a home that was in need of some serious landscape upgrading, CLC was the first company we thought to use. The project was a bit overwhelming because of size and design for my wife and I, but Rich Jr. was able to break that down into very simple phases that were easy to grasp, well planned, and executed to perfection. Rich Jr. spent a substantial amount of time walking through the project with us, asking questions, getting feedback, was able to come up with a design that was exactly what we dreamed. Rich was always available to answer our questions, the workers were professional, hard-working, organized and clean. The project was finished on time and under budget! Because of CLC our homes backyard is like our familys sanctuary. CLC removed old overgrown, outdated landscaping, installed fresh grass, a new beautiful bluestone patio, and fresh, clean, organized, and masterfully designed new plants, shrubs, and trees. My wife and I are completely happy and satisfied with the results of our backyard project!! Thanks so much to CLC owner and staff who worked with us to get a proper quote/design drawn up very quickly and then helped with quick real-time adjustments/material edits. When work began there were plenty of staff who worked to complete the project in just week or so, even with some very muddy soil due to rain. My job allows me to work-from-home often, so I was there asking the guys to lay specific stones in a certain way, they would simply do it and respond with you are the customer and we have to make sure youre happy with the final product. You can imagine how particular I am being a director of finance and I still play 2 sports a week and 3-4 instruments. Let me start this review by saying I found it very hard to select a service provider for landscape design. The work is expensive and if it s done wrong it s very expensive and painful to fix. I have had that experience twice with other landscape design companies that did small jobs on my property so I was very discerning when looking for a company to design the patio and plantings around my newly installed swimming pool. Trying to find someone with the right combination of design ideas, and the ability to execute that design is a true leap of faith that requires you to put your trust into the provider. We interviewed 7 or 8 different companies, all of whom seemed to be able to do the job. In the end, we selected CLC Landscape Design based on multiple meetings with Rich and his team, and the feeling of trust we had in their design and their ability to execute. CLC interviewed my wife and I to understand what we liked in a design and what we were looking for in our backyard. They came back with a beautiful design that included a dry-laid bluestone patio, and a whole collection of low maintenance plantings surrounding the pool. The work was completed over a week or so and the outcome was absolutely fantastic. The CLC team turned a nightmare of a space into a resort like pool that totally blew us away. As they promised, the team showed up every day, were great to work with and made the process totally seamless. What I really want to share in this review however is what happened a few years later when we ran into a problem. When we installed our pool, the pool company was responsible for back-filling and compacting around the pool in preparation for the patio. Based on CLC s recommendation we even waited some time before installing the patio to ensure the ground would be totally compacted. After a few years, however we still experienced settling of the patio so I reached out to CLC. CLC came out to take a look and then sent a team back to my house to reset the patio and fix the settling. Even though the issue was caused by the pool installer, CLC stood behind their work and fixed an issue they didn t even cause. Even better is the team went above and beyond and fixed other things that were just caused by normal wear and tear. Now the patio looks brand new! There are a lot of people that you can hire for landscape design but it is very rare to find a company that stands behind their work and delivers such outstanding customer service. I want to thank the CLC team for an amazing initial design, and even more for helping me when I had an issue years later. The patio looks fantastic! If you are considering a landscape design project, large or small there is zero reason not to reach out to the CLC team. Their design was great, the execution of that design was amazing, and when I had an issue they stepped up to get it fixed. What else could you ask for in a service provider. Really great job!!!

A few years ago, we hired Rich Cording Jr. and CLC Landscape Design to completely design and landscape our property. He removed old trees and shrubs, redesigned the front and backyard property with a stone front landing, rear stone patio, grass on the front and back yard, amazing amount and diversity of greens and decorative planters.
