Bernie's Landscaping in Ridgecrest

Got our backyard remodeled after casually chatting with Bernie for 2 years. We shopped and compared but eventually decided to hire this company for the job. His price was more than the competition but the quality was there. Once we were in contract with him, the process went very smoothly. He communicated frequently and clearly about what to expect and gave great recommendations during the planning phase. Once the project started, his crew showed up on time every single time and cleaned up afterwards before leaving for the day. They were very professional and the craftsmanship was clearly evident with the attention to detail that was displayed. I have experienced horrible craftsmanship and service in the past and was a bit skeptical and prepared myself to be let down again. I was pleasantly disappointed when that didn’t happen. I highly recommend Bernie’s Landscaping for all your landscaping projects. The pictures don’t do justice. Thanks Bernie, I will be doing business with you again. 😎 **Update 12/05/2023: had a small leak and Bernie’s Landscaping didn’t hesitate to schedule an appointment to come see what the issue was and resolved it. Post work support is very important and they stand by their work.** **Update 8/21/2024: Issues with the turf in the backyard. I called Bernie's Landscaping and asked if someone could come by to see the condition of the turf. Bernie came by, saw what was happening and agreed that it was not supposed to be that way. He said that it looked like the turf was shrinking, which was leading to the seams being visible. The turf was also shedding, which it's not supposed to do either. He said he'd check with the distributor / manufacturer about it and get back to me. That was on 7/22/2024. Two weeks go by and I don't hear anything from the company, so I call on 8/5/2024 for an update. Was told by the clerk that they were still waiting to hear back from distributor / manufacturer. I call again on 8/12/2024 and I'm told the same thing. It's been almost 1 month since I've contacted them about the issue. Due to this issue, I have adjusted my 5 star rating to a 2 star rating. If or when this issues gets resolved, I will update my rating.

Working with Bernie and his crew was so easy! To have our front yard made over, we just filled out a survey of our landscaping preferences, from which Bernie designed a beautiful layout. Some minor tweaking to fit our preferences, and then the work began. A few days later, our dream yard was made a reality. The guys were quick, friendly, and even went above and beyond to help with a water pipe issue I caused. A+ service from a top notch team!!!

Bernies landscaping exceeded our expectations on a complete redo of our front yard. He took some ideas we had, offered some suggestions, and put it all together to make a great project. Everyone was very professional and the communication was great.

We hired Bernie's Landscaping to completely landscape our backyard. Working with Bernie was easy, he made us an excellent design, and the backyard was finished very quickly! Update: So they sent me an email in response to this, stating that the area needed cleaning up for access. I cleaned it up myself, in 30 minutes with a weed whacker. What you quoted $275 to do... and $75 to adjust sprinklers, which is a 10 minute job for 6 sprinklers. No, you're asking over $550/hour for labor that's not "fair pricing" Jessie. Give me a break. You didn't even budge and give me any options for working with you, you said "no splitting the work" that's not a company that "stands by their work." Yeah, I hired a handyman who I never saw again, but I didn't expect anything more than a mow from him... I was hoping he'd come back regularly, but he just wanted a quick buck. I was now hoping to find a reputable service that'd work with me, Bernie's isn't it. Had a plumber come out an look at the problem with me, and found it wasn't even a pvc line repair, it was just the sprinkler valves leaking causing pressure on the sprinkler head. Which hmmm, I think a landscaper should be able to see right away... Don't email me again. --- Original: A joke I guess, charges $100 a month for a small front yard. But wont even do a repair job without swindling you into yard cleanup. Wanted $600 for a repair of a pvc line. He might be a good landscaper but I wont know with those prices, and unwillingness to do a repair job.

(Full disclosure, never had any work completed with Bernies). Wanted $150 to come out and give an estimate to fix a problem. I have one problem that needs fixed. They want to come and assess my whole system, including setting timings for the controller. That might be great for some, but I have a smart controller (so Bernie's CAN'T help me set it, it sets itself). They took a WEEK to get back with me to schedule the estimate and then it became clear that this $150 fee was not for an irrigation tune-up but basically just for Bernie to come get an overview of your system. Again, great if I needed a whole system, fixed, but I have ONE problem that I need an estimate for.

My wife and I had a fantastic experience with Bernie's Landscaping. We had a portion of our front yard xeriscaped and it turned out great. Very happy. Bernie has a very good crew and all seem to be on the same page when working. Everything was well coordinated and the job was done in four days. Bernie kept in contact with us and his crew so that if a crew member was needed, one would show up. Like I said, very happy. Recommend to anyone needing landscaping. Dennis Sorge

Bernie's Landscaping did a wonderful job landscaping our back yard, installing a nice lawn and shade trees. Bernie provided a fast and professional quote and sent us computer renditions of possible yard layouts so we could choose the best option. His professional team performed the whole project within a week, well ahead of the quoted schedule.
