They were out for their first visit and my yard was full of dandelions and by the next morning you could tell that it was already killing those off. They did a perimeter bug spray and they did a grub and tick and flea spray in the yard. They are supposed to come out on Monday the fifth for the second treatment and Im hoping that it will green up some of the areas that are a little brown. My grass was nice and green and seemed thicker after a couple treatments.

We had another local company string us along and then tell us there was nothing they could do for us because we have undesirable grass. Portage Turf not only gave us a super quick estimate, without mentioning our undesirable grass, they also got us scheduled right away, were super fair and incredibly friendly! Fast forward two years, our grass, including a very large dirt patch that couldn t even grow weeds, looks incredible! They re always on time. Used 2 other national companies in the past with poor results cancelling their service at the end of each year. As a result, have applied fertilizer, weed control, insect / grub control, aeration and overseeding myself for many years. In 2021 did not notice I had army worms until it was too late...they destroyed my yard. I contacted Portage Turf Specialists and they recommended a cost-effective lawn restoration program (they have several options) their aeration machine is unlike any I have used or seen and the results are much better. Based on the great experience, I continued with them this past summer for all the things I previously did myself mentioned above. The yard looks fantastic. Their programs, products and people are superior. Best of all, the cost was less than I could do it myself. If your yard does not look fantastic, talk with them to understand their difference.

A few years ago I had an infestation of ground ivy in my yard. Ground ivy is very difficult to get rid of. I tried myself for a couple of years but it kept coming back. I hired a lawn service to take care of my lawn with the specific instructions that they must get the ground ivy under control. It was worse after a year. Walking thorough my neighborhood I looked at which lawns looked better and saw they were being serviced by Portage Turf Specialists. I contacted them about taking care of my lawn and especially the ground ivy problem. Portage Turf got rid of the ground ivy in one year and the lawn has never looked better. Ive used them for several years now. They are very responsive to any issue. Ive had small patches of ground ivy pop up every now and them. I let them know and they address it specifically very quickly. They do a great job of keeping the lawn in good shape.

Very thorough and terrific communication which is key to keeping a nice lawn. Applicators take their time and ensure product actually makes it on the grass. They also do a great job blowing off the driveways and sidewalks to ensure you did not have a mess to clean up after they leave.

Joe Ross took the time to cover my pond with a tarp so that no spray would get into my pond and harm the fish. I hired this company last year based on my neighbors recommendation. The first treatment had all of the weeds turning brown within a few days. I have some tough weeds in my yard as it had been neglected by the previous owners, so I was excited about having a beautiful lawn. Unfortunately, no other treatments did anything. I did not renew the service. I was contacted by the owner/manager and discussed my concerns. He offered to do the first treatment for free this year and to see if there was improvement. When my yard bloomed with dandelions I didn t call to continue services. I work from home and saw them in my neighbors yard a few days ago. I didn t get an email that they were planning to come out like I used to, there was no little flag in my yard, no fertilizer smell and none of the granules I usually saw after a treatment. I was quite surprised to get a bill for pre emergent and fertilizer. Can t figure out how to add pictures, but my front yard is full of clover and the back has some other type of weed with fuzzy looking buds. Not sure what s going on , but my yard definitely isn t weed free or anywhere close. What I can say is that even though they can t control the weeds they are constantly offering additional services that I m not inclined to try since they can t get the thing right that I want them to do.

We switched to Portage Turf late last year and I must say working with PT has been a great experience, our lawn looks great and we chose to add their vegetation control to keep our mulch beds weed free - amazing. Portage kept me constantly updated, even letting me know they had to delay my service for a day because of an equipment breakdown. We have the good fortune of owning two properties that require lawn services (fertilizing, seeding, aeration , etc.) -- one in the eastern part of Mahoning County and one in the western part of Summit County (Akron/Bath). The PT Team has done an EXCEPTIOANL job with our lawn in Mahoning County. As of the beginning of the Spring of 2020 -- the lawn was looking quite sad. The PT Team applied various immediate treatments and the lawn started looking GREAT. With more treatments during Spring and Summer -- the lawn is now looking FANTASTIC -- nice and dark green, with NO weeds. We get a lot of very positive comments about how great it looks. We were quire amazed as to the very impressive turn-around of the lawn due to the PT treatments. WE are true believers in the great work that the PT Team does. Recent GOOD NEWS -- PT recently decided to extend their service coverage to the western suburbs of Akron. Accordingly, as of today our lawn in the Bath area received its first treatment. Several of my neighbors have Portage Turf to maintain their yard fertilization and I was very impressed by how green and healthy their lawn looks. My lawn wasnt in to bad of shape butI had alot of creeping charlie in it and O.T.C products did nothing. I called Portage Turf and after a couple of treatments the creeping charlie is history and my yard is a healthy looking green, and even during the recent drought it still looked good. I highly recommend Portage Turf to anyone who wants a healthy looking yard you can be proud of.

We were totally displeased with what they did to our lawn. Our whole front yard is browned out. We had to rip out half our lawn and re-seed. I really hope it will come back.

Tried to schedule aeration the week of September 28th and was told it could possibly be done that week or at the latest the week of October 5th. Didnt hear anything by October 8th so called late afternoon and was told one of their crew would call and let me know something that evening. They never called so called them back on October 12th and cancelled. Still didnt sound like they could give a date for service.
