Powell Nursery & Landscaping in Punta Gorda

I ve had two great experiences here now so I figured it s time for a review. Quite a selection and very helpful folks to deal with. If you can t find what you want here, you probably won t find it at all.

Joseph was great in helping me find a perfect silver saw palmetto- definitely recommend!

Milkweed for my catepillars that were not sprayed with pesticide! Great selection of other plants. Need to explore more. This place is off the beaten path, but close to I-75 Punta Gorda exit. Highly recommend exploring to find plants that are native to Florida for landscaping.

Worst nursery I have ever went to in my entire life!!! And this is coming from an experienced licensed planter. The people working there are agressive towards customers, especially Joseph. I recommend going to Maria s garden! The plants are beautiful and they sell a wide variety!

My wife and I were referred to here by a friend who works at a big box depot type store. All i can say is wow! we were greeted immediately and all our questions were answered. We came for Avocados, but we left with several other plants and a special order for Super Haas. Joseph is a fantastic source of knowledge, almost encyclopedic! Please disregard the negative reviews of his mother, hell if I live to be 84 and am still working daily? I deserve to be however i wish, but i did meet her briefly and she was nice. If your a snow flake or a bud light drinker, maybe gardening or raising plants isn t for you? Jokes aside, Sweet family, wonderful and healthy plants. Yeah you will need to allocate some time to walk through their 10+ acres of plants, but it s a great time. This is going to be a weekend staple for us, Everytime i spoke with Joseph, i learned something new! If you need a hand hold and someone to wipe your nose, then maybe it s not for you, but if you love plants, learning, and are not afraid to take a walk and ask questions? Hell i cannot say higher praise for them!!

The staff are helpful and courteous, especially the little lady. Extremely large number of choices from small flowering plants to trees. Prices are reasonable.

Of all the nurseries I visit while in FL, this is the one I most look forward to. Wonderful plants you wont find in a big box store. Good prices. An old Florida experience; original owners since early 60s. If you love plants and are open and flexible youll love this place. If you are not and require hand holding and a map, your loss.

Outstanding plant selection, friendly and knowledgeable staff and reasonable prices. Mr. And Mrs. Powell made themselves available to answer questions about the correct fertilizer to use for palms, gardenias, etc. and gave freely of their expertise. I wont be going anywhere else for my gardening needs.

Great experience Erick was very friendly and nice to us.

The lady there is mean and brusk, throwing plants in the car so that their soil went all over the place. Any money I could have saved went to vaccum expenses. Cant recoomend. Took pictures and posted them too. Dont defend her. Shes been this way since the get go and yall know it.

This is the place to go to get a real old school nursery experience, wonderful family working hard at what they love.

What a wonderful experience. I absolutely love the owner/manager not sure, but she said she runs the joint (she s 84). She s no nonsense and fabulous. We asked if she could ship since we came from out of state...she said she doesn t have time...love that truth! Then she packed up our car up for us and then told us maybe she ll see us next year. So happy we stopped.

Very nice property with alot of potential. The staff was very helpful and very friendly. Unfortunately the place was very unorganized and a mess its time to step up and organize the farm . There should be walking room between your rows.

The place is great they are Helpful and Reasonable sure the place is not pristine and manicured but the selection is amazing, I never complete at visit to Punta Gorda without visiting

I call powells(nursery) my home! The Bonsai trees are .................. Amazing! (some are 100+ yrs old) The Powells know everything about plants and trees!!! (BTW I hate trees )

Theres a lady that owns it shes 83 and she is amazing we stopped by there today and picked up this beautiful elephant ear.

Ma and her son Joseph are gems. Great selection of trees, shrubs and bromileads. We keep going to Powells because they have great products and prices. Not your typical nursery. Go there first and last.

Went to Powells today for the first time to check out palm trees and pricing. We were not going to buy today...but they were very helpful, had great prices and healthy looking stock. We were so impressed we ended up buying 7 various palms. We were entertained by the owner mom. She has a very quick wit and is so knowledgeable about the plants. She would not let us lift a finger when the palms we purchased needed to be brought up front and loaded into my truck. We will definitely return!

If you want a good selection of trees and schrubs, this is the place to shop. Its cheaper than the big box stores. The employees are very knowledge and the owner has been there every time Ive been there. Cash is king.

The family is knowledgeable but its hard to get any guidance, including clear planting instructions. Their main income is plants sold to landscaping companies, just like all the other nurseries.

The very knowledgeable lady who owns the nursery helped us as soon as we got out of our truck, she took us on her golf cart to see a few different plants and got us just the agave we wanted. Awesome nursery and staff!!

The little elderly lady asked what I was looking for as soon as I got out of my car, she was very knowledgeable, helpful, and sweet. This place has a huge selection, and all the plants look very healthy.

Most horrible customer service on the planet so mean & petty & sarcastic!!!! The guy & his mom running the joint got all up in arms because I asked for a map!!??! There is no rhyme or reason to anything on site & my question was completely legetimate. Go somewhere else & spend your money with people who are helpful to what you want.

Best part about going here is seeing how the owners deal with rude ignorant people. By telling them not to let the door hit them on the way out. Seen it more than once. And its refreshing. We were looking at a couple plants that were just setting there and had no NFS sticker on them and the lady walked up to us and ripped the plant out of our hands and then said these are expensive, are you going to pay $50 for the them. Check online. We had been there less than 5min and were actually very interested in getting those plants until she was disrespectful to us. I wont be giving her my business after that.

A wonderful nursery that we have shopped at in the past. We were there again today and the people are very knowledgeable and answer my many questions. Her stock is very healthy and they give you written instructions which is very helpful. The prices are more than reasonable. We were replacing a couple of plants that we had a landscaping company put in (before he retired) and the plants we purchased appear superior to what we had initially. Thanks for such good service and information.

What a treasure! We made a long overdue first trip to Powells today. The service was amazing! We got a tour of the 15 acres on the golf cart and learned all about this incredible family business. Passed down from parents to son, this family business propogates one of a kind treasures using sustainable growing practices. They are water conservative, deeply knowledgeable and reasonably priced. There is no reason to shop anywhere else. Shop local!

We learned so much about so many trees and plants. You also need to check out the flower shop at the end of the property. We will be back for that hibiscus tree

This is a wonderful family owned nursery. We were given suggestions of several plants that would meet our needs. The prices are very reasonable, they have a huge selection of plants, and all of their plants are healthy. I would definitely recommend Powell s for all of your plant needs.

I have never been more satisfied with a company before. They go above and beyond and are the most generous people Ive met. Their knowledge for all the plants is amazing too! Will definitely be back.

The owners of Powell s Nursery are SO knowledgeable and helpful. They carry healthy plants that they advise you in detail on how to care for AND if you have a problem they will do their best to problem solve. I give them an A++! You won t be sorry.

Good nursery. All plants trees are in good shape and range from Just grown to mature. Prices can be very good for some plants, but expensive for others. E.g. 15 gal. Meyer lemon trees around $90, usually around $60 to $65. Night Jasmine plant $5, so prices can vary a lot.

Went here to day with some friends, the elderly lady there was very nasty and rude to us. I had asked her for a price on a desert rose in a 1 gallon pot she quoted me the price of $100. I walked away as i know i can get them at lowes for $14.98 . am all for supporting family owened businesses and not the local retailers but not if your going to get ripped off in the pricing and being treated no better then the fertilizer they use on there plants

Very large selection of plants, lots to look at, from plain to fancy, tiny to gigantic. Small selection of funky yard ornaments. Reasonable prices for take home plants - dont be afraid to make an offer if your buying multiple plants. Knowledgeable staff, family owned.

Super nice people, Joseph is the best. He is extremely respectable. His mom is his there also with her watchful eye. Such a nice lady she gave me a fresh Asian pear to take home, it was delicious.They surely know there plants. Wed never go anywhere else. They are very prompt. We have now referred a few of our neighbors to them and they also love the prices, which are better then HD and healthier too. A hidden gem and HUGE! Get ready for a golf cart ride around. Another home now and were still buying from Powells Nursery.

After 40 years as a non-professional landscaper I can say that this place is special: excellent service, wide inventory on 13 acres, high-value prices, deep smarts for advice. Mom hides a heart of gold inside crusty opinions, son is responsive (he returns voice messages!) and super-helpful. We drove 40 miles to get here, and were glad we did

Quick, efficient, wonderful service, great selections of many things. Picked from around 20 Christmas palms----all healthy looking. My wife picked out a plant and it was intentionally given to her. Fun place. Highly recommend.

He treats his employees with much disrespect. Never sticks to what he says. Has your mind so mind boggles by all the things he says and if your new he expects you to do it or he will yell at you. And doesnt give a reason as to why he fires his employees. Even if they did everything he said and never talked bad about him or the way he runs the place he just gets rid of them. Very very bad experience there.

Excellent personal service and reasonable prices. Lots of choices; healthy plants. We have been repeat customers for several years. Our yard if full of their plants. Son does most of work under close watchful eye of his mother. Great place to spend an afternoon just brousing.
