We have used Dave Wells to manage our tree maintenance and service for over the past 4 or more years. He is super helpful and knowledgeable. His crew is professional, experienced and clean. His Mom runs his office - she is fantastic, responsive and so reasonable. Tree care is expensive and confusing. Not only did they help us with tree removal, Dave found an artist who made one of trees that we cut down into a bench for our backyard. Dave has moved the tree bench for us too - at no charge. He is professional and passionate about trees.
So I’m a do it yourself kinda guy and took on a way too big to try alone 60’ Silver Maple. Two branches left and I made a cut I shouldn’t have and was in a jam with a large branch ready for a swim in my pool. I called Wells at 7 pm on a Sunday and Dave could not have been any more helpful! He first asked if the branch was secure or if it needed immediate attention. I told him I had it secured to the point it could wait and he had a crew out the next morning. The guys were amazing and clearly take pride in their work. They are skilled workers who went above and beyond and were also very friendly. I will definitely use them again and highly recommend their services.
Wells is a very good company. Worked with Dave to do an estimate. Pruned and cleaned up a dozen various trees. Only issue was delay to get the work done - the process began last October and finally got scheduled for May - weather was the primary issue. However, that said, the wait was worth it. Prompt, curtieous service. Performed the work I requested and nothing else. Very competitive price and did not price gouge. All debris cleaned up disposed. Owner visited while the work was under way to make sure everything was satisfactory. I'll definitely be calling them back for other trees that need trimming. A+
I do not typically leave reviews, but I was particularly pleased with the outstanding care and service I received from Dave and the Wells crew. The entire process was accommodating, professional and the level of customer service superior. From arranging an in person evaluation and assessment, to receiving a timely estimate and prompt appointment to perform the service, the experience could not have been better. Dave stopped by during the work to make sure everything was going well and if I had any questions. The crew took great care of my tree and the property with great respect. I would highly recommend Wells Tree service.
Bob Wells and his son, Dave Wells, of the family business Wells Tree & Landscape, have served me well over the last 30 years. As soon as I moved to Princeton in 1986, a spruce tree fell within inches of my son’s window. Bob Wells came almost immediately, took it down, and later, planted another tree. The same thing happened in 2011 during a surprise October snowstorm; this time a maple tree came within inches of my bedroom window and many branches fell onto the roof, bending the gutters. Bob and crew were there to take the tree down and clean up the debris. Then in 2012 during Hurricane Sandy, unbelievably, a huge pine tree fell onto my roof from the front, cracking the central roof beam and falling over the back, impaling the the back porch roof! Again, my house was a priority for Bob and Dave, and they were there with their crew the very next morning, taking away the parts of the tree that immediately threatened my house (I assume during that dire time, they had to triage the most imperiled houses). They followed that up by cutting down the entire tree, cleaning up the branches, and grinding the stump. A huge job well-done! In addition to attending to emergencies, they have taken routine care of the large trees on my property, trimming branches, etc. Recently, Dave examined my three ash trees and concluded that two had to come down but one could stay up and receive treatment. It was amazing to watch the men use ropes to climb the very large trees and cut them down, piece by piece, with care and precision. Prices for their work have always been reasonable, fair, and well worth it. Over the years, I could always count on Wells Tree & Landscape to be there for me during times of emergency as well as in quieter times.
Dave Wells and the entire tree cutting crew at Wells Tree Services were the most professional group I've ever used. As a teenager I worked for a professional tree surgeon and know good from bad work. Dave knows trees and proper care for them like nobody I've met before. Truly dedicated & professional. I plan on using Wells again for any & all tree & shrub work--whether it be new plantings or maintenance like fertilizing. I needed several maple & oak trees balanced & cleaned up, removing many branches both dead & alive. Also removing 4 large maple trees down to grinding up the stumps. Well's prices were extremely fair & they also did extra work beyond what we expected at no extra charge. The work was thorough--done neatly, efficiently, & safely. When I requested a copy of liability insurance for the job, within 24 hours I had a copy emailed to me from their agent. Very professional. We couldn't have been more pleased with the job & service.

Dave Wells is very knowledgeable about plants and patient in explaining about various plant choices. He gave us great advice and helped us pick out the right shrubs for a difficult, shady spot in our front yard. Furthermore, he made sure his crew installed the plants in time for a major get-together at our house. The Wells crew is neat and efficient; they come, do their work and clean up so completely they dont leave a trace. When we were concerned about the placement of one of the bushes, Dave came right out and reset the plant himself. Knowledge, civility and service in short, Wells has the whole package.
We were very pleased with this experience from start to finish. The work itself was done quickly, but with obvious expertise. The crew was skilled and professional and the result was exactly what wed contracted for. Clean up was efficient and complete. Pricing was very fair and we feel weve gotten great value for our money. We were referred to Dave to check on the health of some of our trees. He was very knowledgeable, informative, and helpful in recommending what needed to be done. We are a bit out of his normal range of business, so he gave us some names of local tree service providers. After his time and recommendations we wanted to compensate him, yet he did not want to accept any payment. We were so grateful for such sound, professional advice and kindness from Dave which seems to reflect what this family business stands for.
David is very knowledgeable and reliable. He came at exactly promised day and time. The work was very well organized and his professional team has done a wonderful job. They didnt waste any time, worked fast and efficient. They also thoroughly cleaned all the debris. Besides, I liked the fact that all his equipment is in the tip top shape and his team were wearing heavy duty helmets with noise protection earphones.
Wells has been wonderful in delivering wood chips for a large garden project. Lorraine has been extremely helpful. The men have been professional and helpful and attentive in managing the deliveries.

Ive worked with Dave since we purchased our house in 2011. They have removed several trees, planted others, fertilization and more. Wells Tree & Landscaping is nothing but professional, knowledgeable, reasonably priced, and they do a great job. On top of that, I recently had a tree die that they planted 2 years ago and even though the tree was only under warranty for one, Dave replaced it free of charge. Great service.
Wells came out last month and removed 3 large Ash trees and an Oak tree from my property. The work was completed without issue and at a fair price. If you need trees removed I would recommend using these folks. Steve - Skillman NJ

One of the delights of living in Princeton is the durability and quality of the people who provide essential services. For many years Wells Tree and Landscape has been looking after my trees and two-rail wooden fence. There work is consistently well done and their staff know their job and carry it out with pleasure. A broken fence post was replaced just before Christmas to the delight of my next-door neighbor (and me) and all was right with the world once again!
Everyone at Wells Trees and Landscaping is very professional and efficient, and they did a wonderful job at a reasonable price. The tree removals were very cleanly done, there was no trace afterwards that anyone had been there, and they came when they said they would. I would recommend this company to anyone looking for excellent tree removal or landscaping work.
Great firewood pricing and service!
Wells is such a great service to have in the area. Their staff is friendly - they respond in a timely manner - and get the job done right. I asked them to leave a good batch of wood chips for me to use as mulch - and they left it neatly on the side of our garage. Highly recommended!
Dave Wells is the best a very knowledgeable arborist, and personable and pleasant to work with. His crew recently pruned our large beech tree and they were impressively professional and competent as well as friendly and helpful. The same day, they took down part of a tall tree next door, and pruned the rest of it. They graciously took the time to bring the useable wood over here for firewood, and did such good job cleaning up you would never know they had been here. Dave s firewood is also excellent well seasoned and in good condition. We were completely satisfied, will call on him in the future, and recommend him enthusiastically.

Today two of Wells employees came to grind out two tree stumps: they were wonderful: punctual, courteous, efficient and extremely careful - particularly when negotiating the stump grinder through our narrow gate. They did a thorough job, and cleaned up everything before they left. Highly recommended.

Dave Wells visited my property and emailed a quote which was reasonable. He arranged for a utility mark out and his crew arrived two days later. We looked at 4 other services before choosing Wells after a recommendation from a neighbor. They are professional and honest. If you want a professional arborist, they are better priced than our sampling of similarly qualified competition. To keep within budget, they triaged our trees. We pragmatically chose to treat the trees that might cause harm to people or property if they lost a branch. Others, we did not treat, since the tree was okay and anyone can pick up a branch in the yard. Yes, we would recommend to friends.

During the summer, Daves crew visited my property to asses the work needed, gave me some options, emailed me a quote that was fair, worked with us on the schedule, came on time, did everything as expected. I could not be happier. On a recent night a limb fell from a Magnolia, blocking the path to the front door. I emailed Dave a picture in the morning asking whether he could help, by the time I came back from work in the evening everything was cleaned up, as if nothing had happened. I would definitely recommend Wells Tree.
They saved our ash tree (big one in front yard that would have cost >$1,000 to take down and left the front of our house bare)!. Yeah, this is the place go as their prices are fair for value delivered. Also great for firewood. Have spent many hours at their Mapleton yard and finally decided to purchase a cord of wood for the winter. Great communication. Very fair prices. Prompt delivery with good service (they dumped it where I wanted). After stacking, I noticed the wood was good quality. This is what encouraged me to try them for tree work.
Wells Tree & Landscaping recently did work on our property. They were prompt, professional and detailed all of the work they would be completing before starting. We had a very large multi-lead tree, one trunk of which had died and needed to come down. They skillfully took it down in several sections, working safely and efficiently. They cut it so that you can hardly tell it is now missing a trunk. We live in a very heavily wooded area and were worried about branches that could fall on our son s playground area. They careful inspected each tree surrounding the play area, trimmed them back, shook every branch to make sure nothing could be hazardous. It was amazing to watch the men climb the trees and inspect each branch, when the cherry picker couldnt go any higher. They were meticulous. We have had other tree services do work for us before and this was by far our best experience. They really care about what we wanted done and made sure everything would be safe for our son. When the work was completed they cleaned up, leaving no trimmed branches or anything else behind. We also had rotted firewood that was left in various places on the property and they were able to take it all away for us. We would highly recommend this company and will certainly be using them for any futures needs.
