Great place for all your gardening needs..friendly staff and there shopping carts are perfect for heavy items
Ecological landscaping maintenance is the way to go and SymbiOp does an incredible job! I have a small yard with unique plants, trees and sections of bare earth. They do a great job with all of it and feed my yard with its own compost. Feels good. Is good.
Matt recently redesigned our whole yard. Throughout the process it was pretty clear to me that the whole company is driven by a shared goal of making landscapes friendly for people and the planet. They reused much of the materials I already had on site (pavers, pea gravel etc) and incorporated ecologically friendly designs like a rain garden and drought tolerant plants. They used mostly native plants in our front yard and created a food forest in the back using a mix of native and non-native edibles. We went from one fruit tree to nine. I would highly recommend them for your landscaping project.
SymbiOp is an incredible employee-owned garden shop in SE Portland. Their staff are friendly and accommodating and their products are top notch. I also am so appreciative of their COVID 19 safety protocols still in place (mask requirements, so easy for us to do!) that protects the elderly, children, and immunocompromised members in the community. I plan to shop at SymbiOp for all my garden needs!
This place is amazing! They definitely have all your houseplant & home garden needs covered with an emphasis on regenerative, sustainable, locally-sourced goods. They also have knowledgeable employees and an extensive landscaping service?? Why you gonna go anywhere else? 🌱
I absolutely love this shop! I’m a bit of a novice with houseplants but the folks at SymbiOp were so welcoming and helpful and taught me everything I needed to know to keep my plants alive and thriving. I really prefer being able to buy my plants from local folks who can help me determine what will work well in my home and are willing to take the time to explain it. I’ll definitely be back again!
I have had the pleasure of working under Matt during his landscape installation and up keep processes. He is the first person I reach out to for plant advice and his work speaks for itself. A true lover of ecology and a master at making plant spaces more integrated for the owners and the garden ecosystems needs. I have witnessed only satisfied customers who all now proudly own an incredible, interactive garden that provides them with a yard habitat containing food forests, garden beds, plants that enable important nutrition for butterfly's and bees while also considering the traditional lays of the land. These gardens develop and after years, still continue to flourish in their communities and neighbourhoods. Matt is a plant genius and expert!! Highly, highly recommend hiring him and his company for any of your garden and or community project needs!
RAVE!! Video consultations(I am out of state), innovative and sustainable designs, friendly and hardworking employees. SymbiOp is a pleasure to work with. They went above and beyond to create a luscious and regenerative food forest. It is rare to find a company with such integrity. I absolutely would recommend to anyone looking to get more out of their property and help fight climate change
A wonderful shop for all things garden
Great for native plant lovers!
Wonderful selection of native plants. The employees were all delightful and I got the help I needed to put a selection of native plants in a planter.
Love this place! Such knowledgeable staff and incredible selection
Friendly people and variety of plants. They even have little paw stickers on some plants indicating pet friendly :) Finally found trillium which is one of Portland native species.
This place is absolutely adorable and fantastic prices all around
Great resource for indigenous plants, and a lot more. The staff is knowledgeable, too!
Great Staff! Great Atmosphere and great selection! Would recommend anyone going there from experienced gardeners to people just looking to start! They will point you in the right direction and youll enjoy the process!
I appreciate their wonderful customer support and knowledgeable staff. They have a wonderful shop and I hope to be able to frequent it more often, should my income allow
Very kind folks here. I am so happy to support local businesses especially ones that care so much for our environment.
Loved the native plants selection!
Awesome selection and extremely knowledgeable staff
I had excellent assistance picking out healthy, affordable, dog-friendly house plants. Ill definitely be back!
Amazing! Easy to work with, listens and offers great ideas, prompt and great follow through. I highly recommend!
NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE! If you hire this company, be careful to check their estimates and the price of materials and plants. They are expensive - $60 per hour per person for pruning and for driving to and from my garden, and promising in the contract a full day on site, but leaving after 5 hours and still charging for an 8-hour day. They offered a small reduction to the invoice after I complained, but after I received an abusive phone call I paid up. If you hire this company be sure what you are getting for the money and get it in writing. I did not have a good experience with them.
I can t believe how much I learned from working with Symbiop, Matt came by to do a consult and suddenly the full potential of our property came into focus! I am so excited to continue working with them to create the sustainable oasis of our dreams.
Great people, and great service! Matt s passion shows in his work!
Best landscapers in town!
I was excited to visit the new garden shop for the first time recently but was shocked at how expensive it was. I needed some basic supplies for my backyard chickens and the prices were outrageous. I want to support this business, but sadly I cant afford to go back.
Friendly ecological landscaping, nursery, beautiful houseplants, local crafts, and chicken feed.
The expertise that Symbiop provides is valuable for creating years of a sustainable, low maintenance, beautiful, natural, and healthy yard! I am so glad I found them and my yard will truly be a healthy place for myself and will invite nature to abound in a balanced way!
Very nice people. Work with you. Very comfortable having them at my home!
