Found his website. Completed form with details in late April 2024. Asked for a paid consult ($500) and was told Im very busy right now and would rather pass on the consult than lead you to believe it is going to solve all of your problems for $500. Im turning down residential work all over the metroplex. Rattled on about the issues with St. Augustine TARR and how the issues were impossible to solve. I clearly stated I have Bermuda, not St. Augustine. Great business model...

I was very impressed and happy with the services provided by DFW Turfgrass Science. Dennis came out and was very thorough in evaluating my lawn and providing solutions. I ve spent too much money re-sodding. I needed some real analysis of what the issues were and Dennis provided the answers.

Dennis went above and beyond during my natural turfgrass consultation and the soil testing process to address the deficiencies in my soil prior to having new new zoysia grass installed. In addition, he even drafted a letter to my HOA regarding the need for removal of a tree in the parkway of our front yard to increase the prospects of the grass growing. Overall, a very positive experience to ensure the soil is ready for new grass to be installed in the near term.

I dont do reviews. Figured you either like a product/service or you dont. However, I wanted to share my experience with DFW Turfgrass Science in case their were similar homeowners who find themselves in a situation like I was in 10 months ago. As an old high school baseball coach, I thought I was knowledgeable about the maintenance/care of grass, always took pleasure in a well manicured lawn but my front yard was embarrassing. I reached out to Dennis, who is amiable and was thoughtful of my situation. With his wisdom and insight, and really like an encouraging teacher, he coached me on the steps and direction we needed to go. We chose a plan that I could pass thru headquarters (my wife) and almost a year later with his guidance, Im more than satisfied! Everything he said and trusted him on came true. My yard is back and better than ever! ....dont know if this helps you.... but as for me....Im a firm believer in good people, and this company, its services and in particular Dennis, did not disappoint.

Dennis is incredibly knowledgeable about turf. He is awesome. For years I was using TruGreen and all of their predecessor companies. They would apply their standard chemicals and my lawn never looked great. I was not satisfied. They simply did not listen. We told them over and over and over not to use preemergent on the grass. Over and over they did. Finally, I had just planted winter fescue when they came along and applied preemergent again, killing all of my newly planted grass. Something had to change. I found Dennis with DFW Turfgrass Science on a web search. This is a small business with incredible knowledge. Guess what? Dennis first step was to take a sample of my soil and send it to Texas A&M for analysis. TruGreen NEVER did this. Dennis found that the reason my lawn did not look good was because it had a fungus. Dennis treated our lawn for fungus and it immediatly responded. Dennis also made suggestion concerning the irrigation. (ie changing nozzles for better coverage) Huh, the irrigation folks never did that either. Bottom line is our grass (even with this heat spell) never looked better. If you want someone to give your grass personalized attention that works, call Dennis. If you want someone to spray your lawn with chemicals assuming it will make your lawn look better then choose TruGreen. As for me I am very please with DFW Turfgrass Science.

There is a lot to know about taking care of a yard that I had no idea about. If you can see somethings not right call an expert who can explain and fix whats going on.

Dennis is very knowledgeable on lawns and helped me with a plan to get my lawn into shape. He helped with irrigation locations and effectiveness, as well as soil samples and fertilization. He also helped with weed identification and the best pre and post emergents to target them. If you are a homeowner looking to have the best lawn possible and willing to do the labor yourself, this is a must have service.

Dennis came out and spent several hours with us. Within minutes I knew we were in such good hands. He is extremely knowledgable and put us on a plan to take care of our failing St. Augustine grass. He advised us on drainage and irrigation and took several soil samples. No more costly guesswork - Dennis is a scientist who thinks like an engineer. He is the expert youre been for! DFW Turfgrass has done a fine job diagnosing (in cooperation with Texas A&M labs) my lawns multiple issues. To me, this was the first thing our yard needed: accurate initial diagnosis of disease and nutrient deficiencies. Then, applying the monthly gold plan treatments and faithfully following Denniss instructions on mowing and watering have really helped turn around the health of our grass. Very happy with this service!

I will be honest... I felt that we should have paid for the free consultation we received, because it was so extremely helpful and thorough! We are waiting on our quote, but I think I learned about 15 things I needed to know just from the consultation. It was extremely helpful, and he was on time.

I was looking for some minor yardwork and was referred to this place by our LGBTQ community to support a fellow owner. Ive noticed that DFW turfgrass science LLC doesnt seem to exit - when I tried to clarify it with the owner (Zedrick probably) he became very hostile very quickly. Something is shady here. I was also expecting a community member to be more friendly but still giving a two star rating - an extra star to support an LGBTQ owner.

Our local company needed assistance with lawn repair for one of our customers. DFW Gardening & Landscaping did an outstanding job. They worked with both parties to get the job done perfectly. Would recommend them to anyone.

I ve known Dennis for a long time and have always called him my lawn and garden expert. So I reached out to him when we moved from Oklahoma to Plano, TX a few years ago as the St. Augustine sod looked terrible. It was yellowish with dead roots showing everywhere. I initially asked if sod replacement was the best fix and he told me the black gumbo soil in our area was not good and there was too much shade. He said we needed to start lowering the PH. His company brought us old-fashioned Ammonium Sulfate for fertilizer, Iron, and ag grade sulphur pellets. It turns out our yard also had the bad TARR virus that affects St. Augustine. But when we applied everything he gave us along with several additional rounds of peat moss we had the best yard (by far) in our entire neighborhood the following year. DFW Gardening & Landscaping may not be the cheapest, but I think they are the most knowledgeable and will always shoot you straight. I know we have offered them work before and they turned us down, giving us alternatives to not spend money. I m happy to hear they are expanding and I highly recommend you give them a call if you are having sod, turf, or tree issues in north Dallas.

Dennis was great to work with. He provided honest feedback to all of our questions which helped us decide on the right type of sod for our yard. We love that the sod is guaranteed. He and his crew worked very hard to complete the job and they cared about the quality. Some of the sod pieces didnt look healthy, but he replaced them without us even asking. They did a good job cleaning up afterwards too. We would use them again.

Dennis was awesome to work with! He was honest and did exactly what he said he would do! Our yard is completely transformed thanks to him and his crew! We could not be happier with the results! Absolutely would use DFW Gardening and Landscaping LLC again!
