We ve been searching for a landscaping service for months and stumbled upon local roots. With their positive reviews we felt like it was a no brainer and reached out. However as soon as the contract was signed and invoices were paid that s when the issues started. No communication with the account manager several unreturned calls after agreed upon services were not being completed. Our weekly grass cutting was skipped twice while the invoices were paid with zero communication as to why. To say we are surprised and unsatisfied is an understatement

We enjoyed working with Local Roots for our backyard redesign. Their team was very knowledgeable and professional along each phase of the project. There were a lot of unknowns with our project due to hillside and existing retaining walls, but Local Roots quickly adapted to find a solution and make our project a success. There were many moving parts in our project between excavation, multiple types of retaining walls, artificial turf, sandstone steps, and a custom Trex composite deck. Local Roots made sure each team worked together to ensure the project came together even better than we had hoped! They had many team members involved in our project and they were all great to work with. We contacted Local Roots on recommendation from our neighbors and we were not disappointed. We are installing a lawn on a back yard. They responded promptly, heard our concerns, and put us on the schedule. I am unsure if it is fairly priced, however for the work we had done it was certainly a good value for the money. The crew was courteous, able to explain what they were doing, and were expeditious in their work. My only complaint is that they showed up three weeks early with no warning, but that wasn t a giant issue with us. Overall very satisfied with the work done and how the grass is starting to come in

After a pointless phone estimate they came out to our property to give us a better estimate but then I recieve an email that our project wasnt a good fit for their company. Yet they are a landscaping company and we need landscaping work. So if you want to waste ur time give them a call..

Local Roots Landscaping does a great job on my front lawn and backyard. Tyler always answers my questions. He adjusts the work for weeks when it doesnt rain much, and when we had a new walkway put in between our driveway and our front porch, my husband talked to the workers and they didnt touch the newly poured walkway. Local Roots was great to work with, especially Kenneth. They tore up a small Pittsburgh row house backyard that is landlocked and transformed it. The project included proper drainage, stone pathways, grass, small garden beds with Belgium block edging and a new slatted cedar fence. They also remodel an outdoor staircase and refit a dilapidated back porch roof, making both safe and attractive. Kenneths team was responsive, worked diligently, asked questions and had solutions that all respected our budget. We are working with them again this spring. I would highly recommend Local Roots!

I was extremely satisfied with the two landscape jobs completed by Local Roots for my city property in Lawrenceville. Ken did a fabulous job with the design and was very responsive to my ideas and questions regarding plant choices. The projects involved removal of old hardscape as well as very old, overgrown plantings. The workers were extremely professional and completed the work in a timely fashion. This great local Pittsburgh company has been carefully nurturing our three acre lawn for years now and we couldnt be more pleased with their performance. They are efficient, punctual, flexible, and also extremely pleasant and a pleasure to communicate with. Additionally, they have hauled away material from a property for a very reasonable fee and releveled our driveway. They even came over to clear a fallen tree several years ago that was blocking our car and did it immediately when called even though it was not on their schedule of tasks for that day, probably setting back their work day for an hour. I used Local Roots to remove stumps from some massive yew bushes I had cut down, re-grade the front yard and put down new sod. Everyone was very professional and easy to work with. They did a fantastic job getting out those old stumps and roots despite them being entangled with my gas and sewer lines. This weekend I went to put some new plants in my new garden, and was prepared with my battery of shovels, pick axe, etc (why is it SO hard to plant something in PA?) To my surprise, my shovel sunk in like butter and I didnt hit a SINGLE root while installing my new garden. I was already impressed but their thoroughness blew my mind. 10/10 would recommend.

I requested a quote from Patrick at Local Roots mainly to install a Husqvarna Automower 450XH on what I would consider to be a challenging property for this new technology. For anyone not familiar, the Automower is basically a Roomba for the lawn, which promises to mow a carpet-like lawn with minimal maintenance and effort. The result is a beautifully manicured lawn, and I feel like I am living on grounds that are maintained by a full time landscaping crew. The only effort I put into my lawn is to check the Husqvarna app and make sure the mower hasnt gotten stuck, which can happen every few days, and a once-a-month line trim in a few areas. My property is nearly an acre of trees, hills, and roots. While I am technically inclined, I had no idea what the performance characteristics of the Automower were, and initial setup is non-trivial and involves burying a boundary wire as well as guide wires throughout the property. Patrick and crew installed my Automower in a single day. He came with a local Automower approved dealer to ensure that installation was at or above specification for things like guide wire lengths and navigable grade. I consider the kind of service I received well worth any premium paid over the one and done installation service offered at the big box store.

My fiancé and I are very pleased with our work done by Local Roots Landscaping. We had a stormwater management project completed as well as some excavation, seeding of grass, and river rock installment. First, the project was originally scheduled to be started on 06/30/2020, but we received an email that the project would be able to be started almost a week early. The project was completed within 3 days, as expected, and the site was always cleaned up at the end of the day. We really appreciate the time and diligence that Wills team took to complete our project. We will certainly be reaching out to Local Roots Landscaping in the future for other projects!

Everyone who works for them has been very professional, and the manager, Patrick, has been great to work with. They also are happy to break your project down into stages to make sure its affordable for you. My front yard is a steep hillside, and needed to be completely gutted. Patricks team gave me an estimate for clearing and removal, and emailed me a list of plants for approval to install. They made it easy to swap out plants I didnt want--I swapped some rose bushes for hydrangeas--and got everything cleared and planted in a couple of days. They continue to maintain my front yard for a reasonable monthly fee, and Im super happy. For the back yard, I worked with their design team to have a full garden/landscape design created. There is a fee up front for design work, but its worth it! I sent them pictures of gardens I liked for inspiration, and they gave me the cottage garden of my dreams. Again, they sent me a proposal and estimate, with an overhead sketch of what my garden would look like. Again, they also sent the list and plants and flowers they planned on including in my garden for my approval. Once everything was agreed upon, it only took them a few days to get everything installed. I recommend Local Roots to friends and family all the time. They are friendly, professional, and accommodating, and they really saved me from a horrible struggle with weeds and brush. Thanks guys

We purchased our home in October, 2019 and after taking the Fall and Winter to settle in, we decided the front yard needed something since it had very little character. We contacted Local Roots and Patrick (the Owner promptly came to address our needs to get a feel for what we wanted. Local Roots provided a designer to give us a starting point from which we were able to scale down to fit within our budget. The estimate took place in early in May despite the Covid crisis and our work was scheduled in a timely manner for the end of May. It was a two day job and our crew (Levi and Zach) were very pleasant and professional. The first day was the tear down outlining what we were to have done with the second day adding the plants we chose and mulch. The plants were all healthy, saved from a handful of Prickly Pears. Local Roots recognized those from the nursery were not up to par and substituted those with comparable plants. The end result was a definite upgrade! Our front lawn is on a fairly busy street and we constantly get drive-by compliments. We happily refer Local Roots to them when asked who did the work. We are very satisfied with a job well done and will use them again for additional work without any reservations. Thanks!

Local Roots provided us an estimate for comprehensive landscaping work. Patrick was on time, professional and very thorough during his meeting with his. We got that sense that he had great expertise and would do an excellent job. He got us the proposal and price estimate relatively quickly, but unfortunately it was more costly than some other estimates and did not fall within our budget. If we had a higher budget we would have probably gone with Local Roots because it did seem like they would do the best job. Patrick followed up and demonstrated strong communication throughout. Recommended!

I cannot recommend Local Roots enough. Initially I was just looking to fence in my back yard for the sake of my eight pound chihuahua, but when Patrick and I talked about how I was going to use the space I couldnt help but fall in love with his vision of a patio and planters to replace my tiny cracked concrete slab. I couldnt be happier with how it turned out. Its perfection down to the perfectly chihuahua sized steps leading into the lawn. When we realized I had chosen a fence that my tiny dog could fit through (my fault, not theirs - turns out shes smaller than I thought), they were back in 24 hours to add extra bars to chihuahua-proof the space. The workmanship is true art, meticulously done and beautiful. I cant wait to come up with another project for them to do.

Local Roots built an extensive retaining wall for my next-door neighbors, and they did it very, very well. Because they did it so well, I asked them to do a small project for me and create access to my water service line at the point where the citys control begins and mine ends. It wasnt a big job, but they did it quickly, cheerfully, and well, and they did it at a reasonable cost which they explained up front. Im very satisfied and will be glad to use them again. UPDATE: Local Roots did a bigger job for us this summer, and they did it the same way that they did the first job: quickly, cheerfully, and well. The owners are great, and they hire great people.

Hired these guys to wrangle a yard that had been severely neglected after the departure of our previous landscaper. Their politeness and enthusiasm was stellar, and the job they did was unbelievable. While our lawn isnt huge, its hilly and awkward - however, it was no problem for the Local Roots guys, who went well above and beyond the call of duty in making it look great.
