Bates Landscaping installed a very extensive ground/surface water remediation solution for us in May of 2023. From start to finish our experience was amazing and we couldnt be happier with the results. Jeff and Dylan were responsive, accommodating, professional and always provided project updates along the way. Additionally, the assigned project crew, Eduardo and Conrado, were so nice and were extremely hard workers. You could tell they take pride in their work. The job they completed aligned exactly with the detailed engineering plans we had drawn up through Brickhouse Environmental. Megan the office manager is a sweetheart always there to answer a question on invoicing and or scheduling. The office staff is very friendly and helpful as well. Justin and Dylan Bates have also worked with me with ideas on grading and water runoff. Thier experience in all the matters i have come across so far has been a godsent! They in the middle of a major rainstorm dredged and unclogged a water runoff to relieve water from further coming into a building. ****Our neighbors are stopping to compliment us on our new walkway and plantings!***** This is the second major property project we have done with Bates Landscaping, LLC.; our first project was restoring our lawn after it had been destroyed by grubs. 1. For the lawn project Bates went above and beyond in terms of what a normal lawn service company would do: de-thatched the lawn, seeded, fertilized, AND SET UP SPRINKLERS WITH TIMERS. 2. Our recent project involved regrading, redesigning, and replanting the front of our house. We have had an issue with water entering our basement during heavy rains. a. During COVID we were able to review three layout plans and chose from an extensive list of plants. b. The project went extremely well, hard working very talented staff on site with daily supervision by management. c. The execution of the construction of the walkway was amazing. The stone workers were incredibly talented and added more detail than we expected. They even matched the stone front of our 40 year old house. All in all a great experience with Bates, they do things as they should be done and pay attention to detail. They even offered financing for the project.

We are beyond thrilled with Bates! They turned our front yard into an oasis, complete with a redesign of gardening/landscaping and lighting. Our team was Juan, Rojas, Jonathan, Mario, and Raul. They worked incredibly hard over long hours and did SUCH a good job. Arrived early, stayed late, and left our yard and driveway spotless when they were coming/going. They also checked in with us at the end of each day to make sure we were satisfied with everything. Robert was also great to work with during the initial consult and created a beautiful design that incorporated our preferences, with other ideas/recommendations thrown in that took it to the next level. He also came on site to make sure everything went where it was supposed to. Joel arrived after the job was finished to be sure we were happy and to check on the sprinkler systems. Both Joel and Robert were very patient with our questions and answered everything thoroughly. If any future landscaping needs arise, we would absolutely call Bates, and would highly recommend them to everyone.

This company shows up at our apartment complex and blows leaves on top of our cars covers our cars with it. Several people have scratches dents, and a couple people have had tail lights busted, because of how they blow the leaves, even though there s plenty of room to blow them where there are no cars parked, they have no respect for anybody s property

This past summer, the Bates team designed our front yard landscaping (including new lighting and a sprinkler system). They completely transformed the look of our house into what we always wanted it to be. They initially described how certain elements would ebb and flow with the seasons--in particular, some winterberry bushes with their red berries that the wildlife would love--and now we are able to look out our windows, and watch the birds and squirrels gather them up. Its a pleasure to enjoy this quiet time with Mother Nature and all of this beauty, as promised. We cant wait for what the rest of the winter will bring, and then to be able to see it all come to life in the spring. Water kept pooling just beyond my back porch and seeping back into my basement, which was constantly damp and sometimes even wet. Previous owners had installed two sump pumps, but the water table in my neighborhood is high and seemed to be rising: Sump pumps were no longer enough. Jessica Stager, from Bates, came out and quickly determined the problem: I had an underground spring that yielded an unquantifiable amount of water. She needed to move the spring water to the back of my property. This was a challenge because my backyard is tiny and slopes down towards my house, not away from it. Jessicas solution was a triple-level gravity system. She linked the sump pumps and a couple of gutters to a deep basin for surface roof runoff and the underground spring water. The overflow of that basin spills into a second, larger, shallower basin and the overflow from that basin spills into an underground seepage bed, which she covered with some thirsty Ilex. She regraded the backyard so that surface water would also flow into the seepage bed. And she added native water-loving plants like chelone and irises around the basins. Ricky and his crew were fantastic -- quick, polite, and nimble. As we began to understand how much water this system really had to manage, they suggested changes on the spot. Jessica checked on progress regularly and explained how everything worked. The result is a set of gorgeous, spring-fed ponds and a basement that stays dry, even during our heavy rains. Jessica, Ricky, and the rest of the Bates team did a wonderful job!!

I got five(5) estimates for grading and resloping lawns and grass seeding. Bates I selected. Jeff, the sales person, played a big role in my decision. Bates Landscaping solved a HUGE problem for me! They are awesome!!!! The yard next to me has totally invasive bamboo and I needed to keep it out of MY yard. Robert came out and assessed the scene and I decided to go w/ a bamboo barrier. Joel came out next to review the layout and how everything was going to work. It s a tight space so it was challenging but they made it work. Juan and Israel did the actual work and they were so thorough - they dug up, sifted through and removed all of the bamboo rhizomes. They did such an amazing job!!! And behind the scenes Megan and Amber coordinated the whole project. This project was a life changer! that bamboo has been stressing me out for years!!!! Bates rebuilt the 21 retaining wall around my pool. This 16 year old block wall was leaning precipitously and in danger of collapsing. The on-sight visit yielded an estimate with a contract which I signed. When they arrived to begin the project, the demolition revealed no base below ground level and therefore a 25% increase to the original estimate was necessary (not the amount I had budgeted). However, I am very pleased with the project as this wall looks new and more importantly, is stable. The employees were efficient and friendly. They appeared to have pride in their skills. They left the job site clean and spotless. I would highly recommend Bates for the quality of the work- even though the cost was high.

Called for drainage issues in March. I was given a phone appointment for april 13th, leading me to think that is when I would get an estimate for the work. I was told on april 13 th that I should go with someone else as they were busy till the summer. Why lead on a customer like this, they already knew their schedule the first time I called them.

Workers were on time and seemed concerned about minor details. Did very good job and cleanup on new walkway and drainage. Good communication from office staff and estimates.

A very good designer/salesperson. The process was seamless. We put in a swale and rain garden in my backyard. Looks great. Can t wait to see how it works the next time we have a rain storm.

Bates fixed a difficult drainage situation in our (very flat) Delaware backyard that another outfit failed to fix (and made worse) a few years back. Jessica designed, and the team created, a gorgeous rock-filled rain garden in the corner of the yard that shunts our sump pump and gutter drainage into a nearby stream. And they promptly returned to fix a puddle problem that appeared after the first big rain. Highly recommend!

Simply the best. Last year I had Bates put in a French drain in the side of my house and they did a great job. Attentive, punctual on the day of work, and efficient. Currently they are on day 4 of a complete rip out of my old deck and patio and rebuilding a beautiful patio with a fire pit and water feature. Of course they are doing a great job. Their team is top notch from initial appointment to design to creating a world class finished product. Their workers have been at my house at 7:30am and have worked diligently over these last 4 days and you can easily notice the pride and focus on their work. We utilize Bates at our senior living community. They do a wonderful job of ensuring the garden beds are beautifully arranged with shrubs and plants and give a great first appearance to those visiting the community or driving by. Bates recently redid our front yard landscaping and it looks fantastic. Melissa really listened to what we wanted and drew up beautiful designs all in our budget. She was very friendly and easy to work with. I also had a last-minute change and she was very accommodating. The crew that came out to complete the work was also great, especially the foreman Ervin. I was quite taken back with Melissa Blake as she gave an estimate and when I called back ( several times with no return calls) I wanted to add more work which seemed like an inconvenience , and her response was that the free estimate was for the first time only and she would require a $500 fee for her to come out again and to estimate additional work . No question in my mind they didnt want my business so with all the other landscapers I dont need them.
