These folks do a fantastic job. Extremely professional and so hardworking. We use them for our Gulf Breeze house and they are always eager to please and bend over backwards to make sure we are happy with the yard.

What can I say about landscaping and more specifically gulfside landscaping that hasnt already been said. Oftentimes we have land that needs to be scaped, but whats so unique and fantastic about gulfside landscaping is that they do the opposite, they scape the land. I mean truly this artifice that we manipulate around us, the green goddess of not only dressings but earthly delights, so very often we as individuals regardless of profession become entangled and ensnared in our pleasures and our pastimes that the goddess do taketh over. That is whats so magnificent about gulfside landscaping, they tame the green beast. They capture the goddess and put her on a mound of submission, and through their efforts we can truly enjoy natures bounty.

The son Kyle was totally unprofessional in cordial conversation outside of working hours. He may not be fit to manage a future business, and plan. This is a life long colleague/ friend whom would have expected more from. Hopefully with coaching & development Kyle will improve his business development skills.

Would not bother to answer the phone or return the call.

We had flooding issues during Tropical Storm Gordon and Gulfside Landscaping saved the day. We ended up having a fairly substantial french drainage system installed around Thanksgiving. My wife and I were blown away by the quality and professionalism of the crews work. We received probably over 7 inches of rain immediately after installation and the system handled it beautifully. The rest of the record breaking amount of rain we received in December proved little trouble for the system as well. The pride the Gulfsides crew takes in their work is abundantly clear in the final product. We know this wasnt one of their bigger projects, but they never made us feel like our project was unimportant. Truly, thank you.

James Martin designs unbelievable gardens with excellent selections of plant materials and placement. James and his team offer high level of jobsite management, installing very high-quality plants, trees and materials.

A couple of homes in my neighborhood had used Gulfside (James Martin) and we liked their results. Upon reading the reviews on this site, we decided to contact James for a complete overhaul of our landscaping -- a project that we expected would cost in the neighborhood of $100,000. We were unable to speak with James during the initial call, rather his assistant (Sue Thoma -- a very nice and upbeat person) said that we would have to first pay James $250 just to have an initial meeting during which he would decide whether he was interested in doing our job. We politely declined and were then about to move on to our second choice. A short while later Sue called back and said that James would welcome the opportunity to do our job and that there would not be a fee for the initial meeting. The meeting was held a couple days later and James indeed confirmed that he looked forward to doing the landscape work at our house. He presented a contract the next day which contained a $7,500 Garden Design Fee. This was a bit unusual as most larger landscape contractors include the design as part of their overall service. James explained that he has had problems with customers getting his design and then going elsewhere. He also noted that the contract provided that if we retained his company, the Garden Design Fee would be credited against the overall project cost. Because our neighbors had assured us that James pricing would be fair, we proceeded to sign the contract and pay the fee. During the initial meeting, James had assured us that the design would be completed within two weeks and that the entire project would be completed two months. After submitting the signed contract and payment of the fee, James then advised that he would not be able to get to our design for four to six weeks. This was disappointing, however believing that we had the right person for the job we were accepting of the delay. Toward the end of the six weeks my wife contacted James to find out how the design was coming along and when we could expect to see the landscape plan. James assured her that the plan was coming along nicely and that he would be in a position to meet with us one week later to go over it. As it turned out, we were going to be out of town the week he wanted to meet so we set the meeting for the following week. James assured her that the landscape design would be complete and that his company would be ready to immediately move forward with the work. Then yesterday, one week before the scheduled meeting, we receive a letter from James (not even a phone call) saying that due to circumstances beyond my control I am not going to be able to provide the landscape design. The particular reason James stated in his letter was that he: ...devoted much thought and time to it and I am just not feeling it. I do not feel that James Martin/Gulfside Landscaping is trustworthy. I will not recommend that others use their services.

I called Gulfside Landscaping in October 2017, and I spoke to the office manager Sue. She stated that the owner James Martin charges $250.00 per hour for coming to my property to evaluate his interest in doing work on it. Since the finished jobs on his web site look impressive, I felt this fee was worth it. Our budget was $10,000. I met with the owner James and his sidekick Ken on my property. After some discussion, James stated that he wanted to take on the job. Three weeks later, Ken quoted me a design cost of $4,800 and stated that the $4,800 design fee will be credited to the project installation cost. On 11-17-17, I made a $1,000 down payment. On 12-13-17, I requested the status of the landscape design. But there was no reply. I thought maybe they were away for the holidays, so I didnt think much of it. Still no reply as of the first week of January 2018. So, I called their office and spoke to Sue. I told her that Ken had not yet responded to my December e-mail. I told her I want a status of the design and also told her that a spokesperson from my credit card company stated that they would support me in a dispute within 60 days of my payment (later discovered this is incorrect), so I needed the initial design completed by the following Monday. She told me that James is out of the country. Yeah, right! She passed on my message to James. His response to her was to tell me that he would no longer work on my design (if he did any work in the first place!) and to dispute the $250 and $1,000 charges. Why not refund my payments? It took me two months to get my money refunded by my credit card company. I believe he tried to take my money and run. Terrible customer relations! James treats customers differently. I paid the initial meeting fee of $250, but for Matt Dannheisser below in the end James charged nothing! Thats unethical. If you let him, hell steal your money! His response is a total lie! He never told me anything related to leaving for the holidays (phone nor e-mail) nor the multiple design commissions. When I called to make payment, Sue asked me how much do I want to pay down. So, I told her $1,000: she was the one who suggested I could make a down payment. He is totally unaware of what his employees are doing! As I stated above, my credit card company refunded my payments after disputing the $250 and $1,000 charges. You did NOT! Definitely untrustworthy.

With James what you see is what you get...Spectacular. He has creativity and will always do right by the customer first. He was at our home for 3 minutes and pointed out a legal issue we had. The guy knows his stuff. If youre looking for a landscaper that will not duct tape the job then go with Gulf Side Landscaping.

Gulfside Landscaping is a team of professionals. I hired them to take care of a major drainage issue where I had over 10 of water flowing alongside my house whenever there was a major rain. I had already flooded once, and didnt want to have that happen again. I had to wait a while for Gulfside Landscaping to start my project, but even before the project was started, if we had a major rain Mr. Martin (the president/owner) called me personally to make sure the house was OK or if he needed to try and schedule the project sooner. In the middle of the project we had a major rain storm and Mr. David (the team lead for my project) came over to my house at 6:30 am (during the down pour) to check on the drainage system they were putting in place and make sure I wasnt going to flood out. Thats something Ive never seen in the customer service industry before. It just shows how committed Gulfside Landscaping is to their customers, and the employees to their company. Throughout the whole project, the entire team was very courteous, hard working, and thorough. If you are looking for somebody you can rely on to get the job done, and done well, Gulfside Landscaping should be your first choice. Today i seen a few places that gulfside landscaping has done work at and i must say the work is outstanding. I have seen some really nice landscaping jobs but i must say gulfside really tops it... I can t even begin to convey the wonderful experience we have had with Gulfside Landscsping on our recent project. We have dealt with a severe drainage problem for several years that occurred because of builder error on the adjacent property and lack of intervention from the county, so it was necessary to correct this to avoid foundation issues. James Martin not only designed a very effective solution to our problem, but made a gorgeous garden design to complement it. He designed a gorgeous Tuscan garden with. large olive trees that will canopy a beautiful meandering stone walkway with a large stone where I can sit and reflect on its beauty. The low growing Tamukeyama Japanese maples are magnificently placed within the stone from the dry creek bed that runs the length of my property and conceals the drainage solutions. It is all enhanced by beautiful grasses, flowers, and other planting s that are nestled all around. I just can t adequately describe its beauty as it is seen in person, and it far exceeded even my vision of the plan. The lighting at night just draws you to take a walk through it. I don t often review unless I m extremely pleased and can highly recommend an establishment, but take great joy in commending James for his creativity in design and for the unbelievable relationship he has with his crews, who are so enthusiastic and take so much pride in their work. So much respect between them all and such a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend them to anyone that wants the BEST! I contacted Gulfside Landscaping to help resolve a rain water drainage problem that had been ongoing for years, and for which I have paid thousands of dollars to various companies to fix (without success). After contacting Gulfside Landscaping, James Martin came out twice to study the issues before providing a proposal which he felt confident would solve my problem. His crew, which included an extremely knowledgeable, hard-working supervisor, did amazing work, and I observed that every crew member worked steadily, and very hard. They had to do a lot of digging, so I planned on cleaning up a mess on and around the pool decking and sidewalks after the job was complete. But when they were finished, the pool and yard were pristine. Not only that, but they tidied up the surrounding landscape with new sod where they had dug, beautiful landscape stones, and fresh pine straw, none of which was I expecting. The yard/landscaping was beautiful. Most important, my drainage problem is history. After many years of great expense, stress, and water seepage into my home, Im incredibly thankful for stumbling upon James Martin and Gulfside Landscaping. I couldnt be more satisfied and grateful.

Gulfside landscapings entire team is a class act. The designer, Vince, was very interested in every aspect of our project. He made sure everything turned out exactly how we wanted. He designs after listening to a customers dream scape and will follow the project and answer any questions as you move through the process. He is motivated and artistically driven. They helped me enjoy my yard again. The designers and landscape team made sure i was happy from start to finish. They made my dream landscape come true.

I wanted a landscape and i wanted it to have a pond or water fall in my yard. A friend of mine suggested that I contact Gulfside Landscaping since they had done some work at there home a few years before. James and Vince came out and we walked around the yard and i told them my vision of my yard. They took what i was looking for and gave me so much more. I now have a wonderful water feature and flowers constantly blooming through out the year.

Gulfside Landscaping created a beautiful woodlands garden that is the last room of our house. James and Vince have a strong sense of what landscape design means in relation to architecture so that the house falls into the landscape and is not overwhelming. They created compositions within the landscape with varied and layered textures with a design specific to our needs (one of a kind) as well as to the setting and context. The three month project was not intrusive which is incredible considering the scope of the project which included tons of boulders used throughout the landscape as well as a parking area. Everyone was courteous, knowledgeable and worked hard. Thank you!

I first had Gulfside Landscaping do my front yard and it was so beautiful and stayed that way. It ws beautiful year after year. After a couple of years I was continuing to have water problems and standing water in my back yard. James Martin came out and talked with me and looked over the issues and as well I wanted some privacy in my backyard as well as shade. They came out and did the work which included of course shrubs and trees. However there was also additional concrete added, paver pathway, retaining wall and application of stones for the mechanical area that has all the usual as well as my generator. When I looked at the backyard after all the landscaping was placed it made me take a deep breath it was so beautiful. I had other people then do the maintenance and do say it wasnt going well is an understatement. I had a really damaging weed get into my flowerbeds out front after a few years. I paid someone to spray it and was not making any difference. I called James Martin and he came out to look and sprayed it and within one day it was dying and then completely irradicated. The bad thing was in the time that I was letting someone else spray and before I called James Martin my shrubs were being killed. After this I have now signed up for Gulfside Landscaping to be the permanent company to maintain my landscape. Would recommend this company for any landscaping needs, they are the BEST.
