The Lawn & Sprinkler Guys in Parkville

I ve trusted them for many years, and with good reason and good results. Prompt, responsive, and knowledgeable service.

Yesterday they came to try to fix or estimate the cost of putting a handle on the main sprinkler value. They were able to leave a handle that can be used to turn the water on and off but they were not able to attach the handle to the value. I will have to push it on and hope it works when I turn the water off this fall. The charges were high ($248) for such a partial temporary fix. I believe I was charged for the complete value but only the handle was needed. The labor charge was reasonable. The two men that tried to fix the handle seemed ill equipped to fix the issue. I think they were sent to turn the water on and adjust the sprinkler, but job required more experience, tools, and parts. I helped them by providing a ratchet wrench and tarp. They seemed to be in over their head but were trying to fix the issue. We will see what the estimate is to make a complete fix. Today the man came to blow out the sprinkler system for the winter. Last year when this company did the winterization the main shot off value broke. We were able to shut it off with a wrench. I was unable to shut it off this winter but the guy who came today figured out a way to shut it off and was able to winterize the system. I will have to get bids to have the shutoff repaired. Im afraid that, it will be expensive. Im concerned that I will have problems with my sprinklers next spring since two of the 7 zones would not open. So if there was water in those zones it did not get blown out. Also, for the 5 zones that we did get some air to come out very little water came out. Only a small mist on 3 of the zones and 2 no water mist or water came out. There was just the sound of air on those 2 zones. So in summary - two zones did not open to be blown out. Two zones only air came out. 3 zones water mist and air came out. I hope there is not water still in there that was frozen or that will freeze? I did not have any freezing problems when I turned it on in the summer. I had them blow out the system again this fall Like everything else the price went up

Be careful hiring this company. My system used 30,000 gallons of water in two days while I was out of town and this company has cost me over $2,400 dollars in repairs and water bills. They service only your pipes and valves, not the entire sprinkler system or controller. Just my experience. Be careful when giving them your business.

Saw a post on the Facebook group KC North News and Info from Oct 20th for Sprinkler work. In this post it repeatedly mentions this company so called them. Got scheduled for the 23rd took about 15 minutes in total and the sprinkler was blown out for the winter. Had come back for opening and had 2 heads that were broke and fixed within 10 minutes!!

Professional, hard working and no messing around - got down to business immediately and the installers were in and out jiffy quick -- especially for an acre lot. Update 5/19... Ryan the office manager sent a real professional to fix all the issues. Thank you! I scheduled to have Lawn and Sprinkler Guys activate my sprinkler system on 5/16. Their employee flat out broke my backflow preventer by jerking it too roughly, breaking the PVC cuppling. The gentleman refused to accept responsibility. He told me that was mother natures fault and that winter caused that. I reminded him that the PVC was perfectly connected prior to him putting his hands on it and jerking it until it broke. I watched him break it. I was standing right there. Their employee became quite argumentative to the point I had to ask him to leave my property. Ive called and left voicemails. No one has returned my calls. I posted photos of the broken PVC coupling. I also have their employee on Ring camera breaking my backflow valve. The same gentleman that broke my valve was on my property yesterday repairing a broken sprinkler head. He did a very poor job. I had to call the office to request they send out a different employee to fix the sprinkler head. Instead, they sent the same guy. Now hes broken two of my things. All this over a simple activation? Really? I certainly hope somebody from the company returns my call now.

They take care all my yard needs, except mowing, and have been doing so since 2018. Great company to work with! Reliable, reasonable pricing, great client service! My yard always looks great.

Couple of guys came out. They did me a solid and fixed a couple of sprinklers. They made some adjustments and in less than an hour got my irrigation system kicking butt! They were super nice and helpful.

After reading the seriously scary reviews on Yelp, I guess I feel lucky I didn t hire these guys! I tried though. I made an appointment months ago with them in March to come out on June 16th. They had openings in the spring but I care more about water conservation than frivolously running sprinklers during the rainy season. My thinking was that June 16th is plenty of time for everything not to get burnt up. They ask me how many zones do I have and I said I have no idea. The scheduler explained it s so much for the 1st 12 zones then extra after. I have no problem with that and said so. And said I doubt I have more than 12, which it turned out I had 30 but it has nothing to do with anything in my complaint. I made a point to let her know there was a lot involved and I thought I had leaks and it would take more than one guy to figure it out. One guy comes out on June 16th as scheduled. He turns things on and sees a leak, I m not sure what else was done, I guess just an evaluation. Im expecting my sprinklers up and running that day or the next. It s summer, in the 90 s, I made an appointment 3 months ago. They don t contact me for a week until finally I call them. The woman who answered was I m not sure how to describe it, frazzled maybe? Confused probably. At any rate she says she will have the service guy call me and send an estimate. He never called but several days later finally sends a very pricy estimate which I don t have a problem with because like I said there s a lot involved with my sprinklers. I send an email requesting a service date for the estimated work, again, no response. Finally, days later I send an email requesting speaking with Scott Jarred the owner and then get a call from an employee who informs me my service will not be provided until July 19th. Wow, so 3 months ago I schedule service and you re telling me my sprinklers will not be turned on until July 19th after everything is brown and dead. I requested speaking with the owner because as the previous owner of a software company, I know you can t control everything and some things will fall through the cracks and I know I d want to know about this ridiculous scheduling and horrible customer service if I was the owner. Instead, the woman who called me back as opposed to the owner, seemed much more consumed calling me out on my initial phone conversation back in March saying I thought I had 12 zones or less as if that changed one single aspect of the entire exchange. Expecting to wait a month after your scheduled service in the height of summer during the hottest temperatures to get your sprinklers turned on makes absolutely no sense to anyone. My guess is this was a good company in the beginning, then they got too busy to keep up or care. Pay attention to the negative reviews folks, they are key.

The Lawn & Sprinkler Guys gave me good service. I needed to have some repair work done on a lawn sprinkler system and they new what they was doing. David was my technician and he gave me excellent service. I will use them again because you can trust them.

In my opinion, they have a courteous office staff but charging a $90 fee to just write a repair quote is over priced. Combined with an over 3 week wait to get said quote, this is a non starter.

We had to wait a bit to get on the schedule but the work they did was superb. Helped us get this wild and crazy bush that had just grown way out of control, did fall cut back and spread mulch. They got everything completely done and wrapped up in 3 days and it all looks great now. Highly recommend.

Purchased a new home that had previously installed irrigation system. Brandon came out to activate and perform backflow test. He was on time, very professional and answered all of my questions. Company was very easy to work with.

I have to be honest. The customer service to the gals that answer the phone is the worst I have ever experienced. From the multiple attempts to call in and always going to voicemail regardless of if there are calls ahead of you or not they dont like to answer. When i called the first time I was inquiring on what the cost would be to add lines to an existing sprinkler system and do some repairs, the gal I initially talked to said they dont come out and do quotes they come out ready to repair and it would be $88 for the first 45 min plus cost of supplies. So we decided to call around bc we dont like the unknown costs being as this is our first system so we have no idea how to gage that and they only had a 45min window opening at the time. Then I called back today after we decided to go ahead with them and of course had to leave a voicemail. I get the return call and the gal whom I thinks name was Cindy was VERY RUDE right off the bat and very confrontational unnecessarily and unwarranted. She says to me well the last time we talked your husband said that we were trying to do some marketing ploy. Which even if my husband did say that of which he didnt and lets make this straight I made the call not my husband so how would she know my husband stance on anything especially given the fact that she said she wasnt the one that took my call last it was a new girl that she then informed me gave me the wrong info. Its $88 for a quote (which first girl said they dont do quotes) and they most likely will not do repair work that day bc they will have to order parts. So when they do come back it was going to be something like $115 for the first hour and every hour after. Im sure that the guys that actually install and or repair sprinklers are great I wouldnt know but whomever the owner is needs to take a hard look and evaluate the individuals that take the calls bc you are losing customers just from the pure rudeness of those ladies and lack of knowledge.If you are the owner reading this please feel free to give me a call if you want more clarification but dang seriously reevaluate who you have answering calls for your business.

Experts in their field and very professional. They use the latest technology in the industry. The control box for my system is smarter than any device in your home. The owner (Scott) then comes to your home to go over your entire system and sets up the programs for you while explaining it. If you run into any issues they can remotely look at your system through an app, or will respond to your home to get you all squared away. I highly recommend this company!

The team at Lawn & Sprinkler Guys were pleasant to work with. A pair came out an installed our sprinkler system with careful attention to ground markings. They then walked us through the systems mobile app set-up and had their founder return a few days later to further explain the system and ensure options are suited to our needs. They have since handled our winterization of the system. Schedulers are responsive and the automation hassle-free. The tech showed up on time and handled everything with ease.

Their service and quality have gone downhill. I would recommend them for sprinkler installation, but other than that, they are overpriced in their other services, and I have yet to be impressed with their scheduling staff.

The Lawn and Sprinkler Guys have been great to work with. They installed an irrigation system last summer and have come out to help with some coverage questions. They have a great warranty, one of our sprinkler heads stopped working and they came out and replaced it at no charge. The first year winterization and reactivation were also included. Scott came out to set the system up and walked through how everything worked, which was great. Scheduling with Cindy is easy and shes always responsive. Greg and Cody have been out to service the system and both were friendly and did a great job. It took awhile to find an irrigation company that would call me back for a system install, but Im glad we were able to find the Lawn and Sprinkler Guys.

I got several bids to install a residential irrigation system, and The Lawn & Sprinkler Guys won easily for me. The bid was completely in-line and reasonable with what I was expecting...but I was also most drawn to their choice of controller (Rachio) and heads, compared to what the other companies were recommending. Meeting with Scott was fantastic as he was very personable, took the time to explain everything, answered questions and more. I learned so much philosophically about our climate/soil/slope/etc and how that impacts the choices we make about watering. When it came time for install, the crew was quick and diligent. Tear-up to my yard was minimal, despite it having rained many days prior. Then for final set-up of my app and profile, Scott came back and walked the yard with me...showed me what all the manual vs automated options are (and why I would or would not want to tinker with anything)...and made it clear he was available for any future problems or tweaks. Highly recommend!

Greg was just at our house to start up our sprinkler system. We have used your company for a number of years for all of our sprinkler needs. Greg has been by far the best for customer service and knowledge of the system. He made some suggestions that will really help keep our lawn and gardens consistently watered. He also reprogrammed my watering schedule in less than five minutes.

WOW! I dont usually write reviews, but this time I had to. We have been trying to figure out a problem with our system for almost two years. After continuing to troubleshoot our tech found a third valve box in our yard no one knew existed and fixed our issues. We will now FOREVER be a customer of The Lawn and Sprinkler Guys! Thank you so very much! You make thinks so convenient with our existing Rachio system as well. We dont have to stand in the yard and turn on the zones, you guys just take over from your own smart phones. Hands down you are the BEST irrigation company in the metro area. I have used the lawn and sprinkler guys for a few years now and they alway help me keep my grass alive and green. Between them taking care of my sprinkler system they also help me with weed control and aeration and over seeding and give me advice when I ask on best practices on keep my lawn green. This is a great group of guys they send out and I highly recommend.

I needed a whole new irrigation system for my backyard after my prior systems lines and heads had been damaged by heavy equipment during a landscape remodel. The system on my front also needed tweaking because several areas were not getting watered. Scott explained to me in the spring there would be a wait until the end of summer before anything could be done. It was a long wait, but worth it. I truly am amazed at how effectively my new system waters all my yard with tall sprinkler heads that have a far range and wide angle coverage. My previous heads can t compete with the new heads. I also can control the system from my iPad. No more worries when I travel. The system is very user friendly. The install team, Enrique and Francisco, were friendly, prompt and knowledgeable. I was particularly impressed with the expertise displayed by Enrique, the lead. He handled plumbing and electrical problems he faced with my situation expertly. He was also very easy to work with. With the backlog of installations he is facing, he did not take shortcuts or rush my questions. My yard was left as it was when he started. Enrique spent time explaining enough of the online system to make me comfortable prior to the training Scott does with his customers.

The Lawn and Sprinkler Guys of Kansas City are no joke. They came out and did my sprinkler system and downspouts in 3 days with great gusto! They wore masked for my little one and we really approached that!

Polite and professional administrative staff. Quality of work is very dependent on the tech working with you. We ve had great experiences, with we ve also had techs come on the wrong day, there have been times techs weren t able to fix and issue without help from someone else, and we ve had late arrivals/last minute cancellations.

I didn t use this company, but they ended up cutting my cable line. I asked the gentleman why they didn t Come over to just inquire about it and he said some people don t like that...talked to the owner, supposedly, and he didn t seam to care at all about cutting the cord. He said that I would have to handle that, making it seam like it was my fault or problem. I ve spent the better part of my weekend trying to get this back up and running, which is never a fun thing when it s not your fault. Moreover, me and my wife both work healthcare so internet is vital to us as it would be to most families. I don t like writing this kind of stuff but when it comes to this kind of unprofessionalism and manner people should know this company just doesn t care.

This company has done my sprinklers, lawn maintenance, drainage and landscaping over the past couple of years and I couldn t be happier. They all do a great job, are professional, and just straight up honest and good people. I highly recommend this company.

An unethical business with unethical business practices. Steer clear.

Pros: nice workers, showed up on time, at least returned a call about concerns mentioned below Cons: charged double what I had signed off as agreeing to for an irrigation repair and did not communicate at any time that it was going to be more than the original estimate until charging us for that amount (charged double for labor due to bringing two people). Had they actually told me it was going to be double what they had originally estimated (or that they were going to charge $200/hour for labor), I at least then could have decided to get a second opinion. Cost was $104 for initial trip/diagnosis ($80 labor), and $638 for second trip ($550 labor).

We ve used the Lawn and Sprinkler team since we moved into our house and had an irrigation system installed several years ago. They worked with us on the initial installation, and recently added onto the system due to some landscaping improvements. In addition to the irrigation system, we use their weed/feed services and have them aerate and overseed each fall. Our lawn looks great because of their services!

This company is top notch! I started using them last year for my irrigation system. They replaced all my sprinkler heads, replaced my backflow, and got everything up and running. I have had this company over 10 years. They are great! They check every thing make sure no leaks in the system and everything is running fine. They do the backdraft at the same time as starting the system for summer. Notify the city for me as well. The staff are friendly and helpful!!!

We have been using the Lawn & Sprinkler Guys for over 20 years. They did our original install and have done all upgrades and maintenance ever since. They are great to work with from top to bottom of their staff. They provide friendly, timely and quality service and they make working with them so easy.

These guys were the best bid and the most complete scope provided. The quality of the equipment and workmanship was also superior to other bids. They got all the work done in two days as promised and as expected. A minimum of damage was done to my yard and to my seedlings planted last fall. The app driven controller/scheduler is so easy to use and looks like it will save tons of money in water by monitoring weather and adjusting for day-to-day environmental conditions. I would recommend this team to anyone having a sprinkler system put in.

They installed an irrigation system in the summer of 2018 and it was the best thing ever. Their prices were on par with others but their customer service was well above average. They used rainbird heada and a Rachio controller. I can control my irrigation system from my phone or laptop any where I have internet. They are always willing to assist with any questions. I highly recommend them if you are looking for an irrigation system.

They are very personable, knowledgeable, and friendly. I appreciate the communication of when to expect them and if I am home to visit when they come to do a treatment they always offer tips and information.

Explained the company I had worked with for several years bent the handle on valve when shutting down system last Fall and would not return calls or texts for past 2 months to come fix and open system so they squeezed me in their schedule the following week. Use at your own risk! We had a good experience last year but this year the technician wasnt qualified to change a valve, broke our system and cost us hundreds of dollars in repair. Tried to raise issue with Brian, said that our perspective must be different than techs and wanted to charge to resolve issue his company created. Had to hire another company after his lack of responsiveness. They will also charge your credit card without approval if youve used one with them before.

8/29/19: In response to the owner s reply to my original review. Scott, your call several weeks ago was the first time we had heard from you. Honestly, my husband and I thought Brian was the owner. He was the one we dealt with for several weeks regarding our original issue before our credit card was even charged. My attack was not on your character, because as you said, I didn t know you. My issues were with how Brian handled the situation of our complaint. He should have forwarded our emails to him to you. Which he did not. As far as I m concerned you got involved a little too late! And as far as attack on character, your employee, Brian had a phone call conversation with me where he attacked my and my husbands honesty and character. I hesitate to give this company even 1 star but I don t think 0 stars was an option. Brian, the person in the company who we dealt with thinking he was the owner is dishonest and does not value true customer service. The lady who makes the appointments and answers the phones is is extremely unpleasant and rude! They charged our credit card automatically for a disputed invoice. This is illegal! They can t charge your credit card without your authorization! A despicable company with horrible service! Don t waste your time!

They designed and installed a french drain that really works, and at a fraction of the cost others were trying to sell to us. We appreciate the good honest work.
