In 2019 Ruben gave is a beautiful cobbled driveway and backyard path. We live in a home that was built in 1923, so choosing materials and an esthetic that matched the vintage of the home was important to us. We received 3 quotes, Ruben’s was right down the middle in terms of cost, but what sold us on him was a sense we’d get value and attention to detail for our investment. We were right! And the compliments from neighbours and passersby continue to this day. In 2024, when a major renovation meant we had to redo our backyard path, our first (and only) call was to Ruben. Once again, he provided us with exactly what we wanted and on time! A luxury in the home renovation space. We hope this is the end of our renovations, but I can say with confidence that, should another opportunity to work with Ruben arises, we’ll take it!
Amazing experience with Rubens and his team! Beyond the fact that the quality of our job is terrific (as you can see with the before and after picture) there were so many other things that we appreciated about them. They are 100% professional and so flexible and easy to work with. They cleaned up everything before they left each day, and made sure the worksite was safe. Rubes and his crew are awesome. They’re fast, friendly, professional, and dependable. They answered all our questions with a smile and helped us on multiple occasions: one was a re-levelling of bricks on a porch, and the other was a complete interlock driveway with garden beds. Interlock was nice with a hiccup but it was remedied but avoid for rock landscaping. The following season you’ll have an unusually high amount of weeds for what should have been professional grade materials. Material underneath is insufficient and had gaps. Hence the almost linear growth of weeds. Reported this to owner who said he’d come take a look and then never showed and said he won’t be coming because he was too busy. Later used the environmental clause in the contract to ignore the matter when it’s a quality and workmanship issue. Riverwash stones also lacking in particular area and material below is exposed.

Just had the pleasure of getting work completed by Rubens and his team! I was looking to get some interlocking done in the front and on the side of my house, including steps. Rubes’ interlock did not disappoint! I was able to discuss my project ideas with Rubens at the beginning of summer and he was so quick and efficient at answering all of my questions and submitting a very fair quote. The work was just completed and I must say that his team and him were more than kind, hard-working, professional and clean! Dynamic team that respects deadlines
We had Rubes Interlock refresh the front and back yard patio. The service and care provided was 5-star! The powerwashing of the stones was quite an extensive effort followed by polymer sand filling in the seams. The end result is a beautiful fresh look. All this was done as promised and on time. I highly recommend Rubes Interlock & Landscaping Services Ltd. This was the second time we have used them, and they have delivered on both occasions.

My experience with Rubes Interlock was positive. I solicited quotations from many & while they were not the most cost effective, I felt they were the most competent & efficient & I appreciated his approach in each of our interactions (there is value in that). Our work was done in the summer of 2022 & Rubes was accommodating throughout our decision process, made several visits throughout the planning process & accommodated changes during our project. We each had to manage shifting timelines & communication was clear throughout. Importantly, when compared to other companies, this crew was professional & efficient, they did not move on to other jobs without completion of ours & it was done in a timely fashion. The crew Rubes had on site were pleasant & our neighborhood noticed their efficiency. Post completion, Rubes returned in the Fall to address some questions/concerns & committed to ensuring everything remains satisfactory into the Spring 2023. I have since recommended this company to friends & I typically avoid making Google reviews however I feel this group are worthy of a solid, transparent review.
These guys are not trustworthy at all, very difficult to work with, constantly arguing/refusing to do what was originally agreed upon, cutting corners everywhere, also its either they do not know what they are doing or just dont care about delivering a quality job once they receive most of the payment. If you have the energy to constantly argue with them about what was agreed upon in the contract and have the time to monitor everything they are doing to make sure you are not cheated and that they are using the materials agreed upon for the job, then hire them. I decided to support a black-owned business and chose Rubes Interlock & Landscaping Services for my interlock work, even though they werent the cheapest (HUGE MISTAKE). I told him I wanted floating stairs and the entire surrounding paved with interlock stones, showed him my neighbors stairs as an example and picked out the stones that I wanted from the catalogue he gave me - the stones for the stairs were black and much larger than the ones for the driveway, Rubes gave me a quote based on this selection and design, materials were delivered and I gave him the first deposit, once he received the deposit, he told me that they delivered the wrong size of stones for the stairs, that he was going to have them replaced, I believed him, but when he took the stones away and never replaced them, I realized he was up to no good, behold he started building the stairs with the same small stones used on the driveway and also not the floating stairs that Id asked for. When I confronted him with the catalogue he gave me, he didnt have an explanation to what hed done, he agreed to change the stones, but ended up bringing a totally different set of stones, not the black large stones that I picked out and definitely the end product not the floating stairs I received a quote and paid for. I also caught them recycling the old base stones/rocks from my driveway - they removed the asphalt on the driveway and reused everything that was underneath, meanwhile he gave me a quote for new material for the driveway, also a section of the walkway was refiled with just dirt they dug out without any base stones - I have a video of them doing this, again he had no explanation for doing this. They are very unprofessional, I overheard them constantly bad-mouthing me everyday once I called them out on their dishonest practices. When work was completed after 7 long weeks, my backyard and the side of the house were flooded at the first rain, because they didnt know how to slope the ground and channel rainwater to the drains, even after Id pointed out to him that the slopes werent in the right direction. The finishing is also so bad that my kids constantly trip from the big gabs and uneven edges of the interlock stones sticking out everywhere. Snow shoveling has been a nightmare. By the way, Ive contacted a new contractor to replace the stairs with the floating stair that I wanted at an additional cost and Ive taken the loss as my mistake for trying to support a local black-owned business - lesson learned! Very dishonest individuals/company, I would not recommend them.
