I’ve built several houses in the past and complete lots of the work myself, then sell after four to six years. I have worked with several fireplace companies in the Fox Valley area for the building process with fireplace installation. We recently purchased a used home and are in the process of remodeling to make this home our forever home. We had a unique installation process since we needed a high efficiency fireplace installed in our old chimney, it was not deep enough so we put a wood stove on our hearth! Zillges is by far the best, not even in comparison with others we have used. From our sales rep Jim, to the installation crew Steven, they were hands down the best. Jim was there on the other end of the phone answering text messages and phone calls about every little question I had. Please, do not waste your time traveling to other places, let me save you the time, go to Zillges!
I was working on my Eagle Scout project, so when I needed gravel I turned to Zillges Landscaping right away and they were more than happy to tell me how much gravel I needed and were offered to donate. I've never picked up gravel before, but it was super simple and fast. Thank you.
Extremely disappointing. Asked them to simply move a gravel pad 10', level it and compact it. For $1300, they moved the pad but left it over 1 foot off from being level and it was not compacted.
Fantastic experience working with Zillges. It was important to me that we maintained the original brick arch of the fireplace. Steve knew exactly what needed to be done, and we couldn’t be happier. We have had many compliments on the insert.
We have had an issue with our gas fireplace not going on or shuts off right after starting for at least 2 years. A call to Zillges was the perfect connection. That afternoon received a call back from one of the workers and while staying on the phone for at least 25 minutes the gentleman walked us through the problem while troubleshooting the possible issues. 2 days later after successfully using our fireplace the first time in 2+ years the representative from Zillges called to see if our issue continued to be resolved. Professional, knowledgeable, and very helpful. No service call needed.
We had Zillges put in our new stone patio with a gas grill surround and Sundance spa this past summer. They did a wonderful job, cleaned up well at the end of each work day and fixed one minor problem we had in a timely manner. Beau did a great job with the design and we got exactly what we wanted! I would highly recommend Zillges for any landscaping or outdoor entertainment area job!
As I come in from having to try and fix Zillges's work for the second time in two years, perhaps it's therapeutic to share our experience. Zillges did the excavation on our new build. They did such a terrible job backfilling that we constantly get sink holes next to the foundation of our house. This means that we're constantly pulling back the landscaping to try and put more dirt where they left all the stones. We've spent too much money on this to have to constantly fix it. Where is the professionalism? Lest you think this is simply a disappointed homeowner, even Zillges employees agreed. We had Zillges give us a bid on our landscaping ($30k) and the Zillges rep said that he would have to have someone from Excavation come back out and fix the backfill problems before he could do any of the landscaping. The problem was brought up to Tim who completely ignored it - you read that correctly - he had absolutely no interest in correcting his company's sloppy work. The only recourse we have is to completely ignore them for our future business. The landscaping bid went to a competitor (Landscape Solutions) who did a fantastic job. I'm sure there are folks who have had great experiences with Zillges, but we are simply not one of them. If their own employees were ashamed of the work, that should tell you something. I could not in good conscience recommend Zillges's excavation services.
Excellent customer service.
I had a gas fireplace that had not been run in ~7 years. I called Mark today and he was able to easily navigate me through troubleshooting my inside gas fireplace over the phone. It is as if he were right by side due to the amount of knowledge he has. I was not able to provide all of the information he, but he was still able to walk me through how to correct my issue. He did this all while I was at work - yes, I am mechanically inclined, that did help. However, MEGA KUDOS to Zilges and the team, and a special thanks to Mark today.
The project manager refused to complete the work that they were paid to do. The lawn is uneven. Rocks left throughout the lawn installation.
Every experience weve had with Zillges has been a real pleasure. Down to our delivery man, who came with a big smile on his face! He honked the horn for my little boys and made their day!!! Each time we called, and there were multiple times we called back to back to ask further questions, you could feel the smile on the persons face on the other line. Such kind people that work there!
They will make it right!
We purchased 9 loads of pulverized soil. They delivered when we called and worked with us when we needed to delay due to rain and exhaustion from doing all the yard work ourselves. Friendly delivery drivers who looked out for the little things.

My fireplace would not stay lit for more than 30 seconds. Mark got on the phone and told me the cold weather has been freezing up the air intakes on several fireplaces. Suggested a method for me to fix at home that worked. I greatly appreciate a company that is willing to sacrifice a service call and help someone out. They have a new customer in me for future service. Thank you Zillgess.

Had a poor experience with the sales rep. Refused to come for a quote of a home fireplace project. It would have been a project that would have made them good money yet they would only look at photos of the fireplace to give a quote. The rep was also very condescending and insulting.

Zillges installed a new Hearthstone wood stove and chimney in our house. Mark was great to deal with and did a great job getting the project estimated and scheduled! Steve and Ben arrived on time and installed new new stove and chimney. We could not be happier with the outcome. Thank You!
Best place to get gravel

Brought me 1,400 in dirt and wrecked my driveway in the process. Estimates are over 8 grand to fix. They would not return my calls or fix there mistake. Did not inform me or have me sign a waiver like all other companies. I would rate this company a minus 10.

Zilges completedd a multilevel 3000 sq. foot patio for us. We were please with every step of the process:,from planning and design with Gary to implementation with Immanuel and Joe. Immanuel and Joe are extremely good craftsmen and were very reliable when working on the project. They also left the property in great shape when done. After two years, they still check to see if there was any settling or glue issues. Would recommend 100%.
Zillges was part of the crew that helped in the construction of our house in 2017. We invited Zillges back in Fall 2017 to discuss our landscaping needs and worked out a 3-4 year phased approach - never any pressure to do more than budgeted. Project Manager Steve worked with us on the details of our goals, and would bring designs to our house for a Show&Tell and gathered all our feedback for any modifications. We ve just completed Phase 2 and couldn t be happier! Kevin and the rest of the crew were SO fun to work with really informative. It s easy to see that they are truly passionate about what they do, take pride in their work and enjoy taking the time to do things qualitatively while planning for longevity not to mention the fun, extra little touches so it looks extra cool, too! These guys arent just some manual labor grunts! Weve enjoyed seeing them daily and taking some time each night to shoot-the-breeze with them each night while they cool down a bit before they head out. Theyve done AMAZING work - the place looks beautiful....better than we had expected and we couldnt be happier. I appreciate the time they ve taken with us to work through the details and make sure the crew had an accurate picture of the project. I also appreciate the time Steve always took to communicate so quickly with us! We look forward to working with Zillges and the team for Phase 3 next spring!

We had our landscaping around the house, some fencing, trees, bushes and two years later, a gorgeous new patio installed. Honestly, as a homeowner with a boatload of renovation projects-- it is great to find a company that works hard, sticks to a timeline, stays on budget, and offers great customer service. Beau, Emmanuel and his team had a vision and it turned out better than we imagined. As a regular user of Google+, a homeowner, and one that relies heavily on online reviews for selecting contractors...I think that honest, unbiased reviews are critical in selecting the appropriate company to welcome into your home and do work. I cant say enough wonderful things about Zillges, after deciding we wanted to add a wood fireplace to our home we shopped around and decided to go with Zillges (even though the cheap fireplaces from box stores are tempting). They were so helpful in choosing the best fireplace for us, the installers were excellent and very timely. Most importantly after having some issues with the fireplace (issues from the manufacturer) Zillges stood by their product 100%, they were responsive and followed up with us until things were perfect. I would highly recommend working with them.
Were selling our house in Campbellsport and were referred to Zillges for a fireplace repair. They were here on Monday when I called them on the Friday before. The repair man was in and out within an hour and had our fireplace working beautifully. Thanks for the speedy service and the job well done! My only regret was that we didnt call them years before so WE couldve enjoyed the fire place. :)
We purchased a gas insert fireplace for our home from Zillges. They did a great job installing it and explaining to us how it worked. After some time (close to the end of the warranty life) there was a problem with the receiver. Mark was very helpful dealing with the manufacturer on warranty questions. Steve and Tom were the upmost professionals when it came to the install and replacement. I have had nothing but positive experiences working with Zillges out of Oshkosh.
