Update: Brian responded that he doesn’t guarantee his work. Said look at the quote and it doesn’t state a guarantee of quality work. It’s sad that Brian does not guarantee his work. Just shows you he isn’t confident in his work. I’d stay away from anyone who doesn’t stand by their work. We wasted nearly 4k on a project that he could care less if the end product is quality. He told us numerous times there would be no issues and we would not have a mess. His response is a joke. EVERYTHING you see tells you it is vital to water the sod when installing. We followed his guidance from the start. He never mentioned anything was mildly concerning. He stated it was all good. We even asked if it was okay to play on the turf and he stated it was. We kept our dogs off it for over 6 weeks and didn’t play volleyball until he said we could without harming it. He also isn’t truthful about coming out and it having sod in those areas. He told us with the heat all the areas would start to come in. He is right that I reached out numerous times as I was concerned from the start and he kept assuring it would be fine. I did ask him to come out and he did indeed twice as I was concerned and he again said it was fine. He didn’t even water the sod when installing which was my initial red flag. It isn’t just in the entire center of the yard. I told him it’s patchy everywhere. I didn’t threaten him with a lawsuit. I told him I wanted to give him a chance to make it right or I would file a claim. That’s not a threat. I was hoping he’d do the right thing. That’s the right thing to do. I gave him a chance to address first. I never asked for him to re-sod the yard. I asked him to help make my yard look the way he promised it would. I never told him to fix or I would post a bad review. I never even told him I was reviewing him. He’s just not being honest here. I followed his directions from start to finish. If he doesn’t know what he’s doing, he shouldn’t install sod. He has chosen to not address his poor work. My yard looked better before he put new sod in. I’d stay far away from Brian and his unprofessional company. He’s playing a victim which is comical as I’m the one with a mess and out nearly 4k. Again, in his own words, I contacted him numerous times for his advice and I followed it. He contradicts himself. I followed his directions 100%. Now that it isn’t right, he’s telling me to contact another company to make it right. I’m contacting an attorney as he refuses to address. All he had to do was come out and address his mistakes. I’d stay far away from Brian and his non-guaranteed work. Brian and his team did some water diversion work for us and stone barrier work and did a good job. We hired them to do the sod in the backyard. They didn’t water when installing and stated it was going to rain, so no need to. It didn’t rain as much as forecasted. I questioned this and a few other issues but was told it was all okay. We stayed off the lawn and even took our dogs out front. We watered as instructed, and fertilized as instructed. Before we got on it many weeks after install, I asked Brian if it was okay, and he said yes as that type of sod is tough. Now that it’s still not fully taking and dying in areas. Not growing in large areas and patchy in others. I’m told it isn’t fair to make him fix it. He recommends to get off of it for even longer. We were already off it for 6 weeks. I tried to tell him there isn’t anything to get off of in spots. You can see the soil. We just wasted thousands and thousands of dollars. Unfortunately people don’t take pride in their work anymore and can’t guarantee a quality product. Our lawn looks pretty much the same as it did prior. Wish I would have pocketed the money or hired someone else. Smaller projects seems more like his thing. I hate to file a small claims court suit, but looks like I might have to. Wish companies just made things right. Customer service is dying for sure. I’ve given Brian a chance to make it right. Hope he does the right thing and I’ll update my review accordingly if he does.
I highly recommend Ray's for any landscaping needs. The owner, Brian, was very helpful on the initial pricing walk-through and made excellent suggestions that I had not thought of. They are also competitive with pricing. As for the work, the crew leader, JJ, made sure everything was to my liking before they were done. The entire crew - Santajuan, Demetrius, and LaJames - were eager to get it done right and were very receptive and cordial anytime I had questions and made a request. All very hard workers and they got the job done much faster than I expected. These guys do an excellent job!
I was initially drawn to this landscaping service due to their great reviews, but my experience left me feeling very disappointed. After calling to set up an appointment for a quote, someone showed up unexpectedly, without giving me a specific time for their visit. Despite this, we walked my yard, and I explained what I wanted. The person quoted me $350 for the work. However, when I called back to schedule the job, they acted as if they never provided a quote. They promised to call me back but never did, even after a week. Overall, it was a frustrating and disappointing experience, and I wouldn't recommend wasting your time with this service.
Brian and his team, including JJ, Carl, and Kirk, did an outstanding job renovating the flower beds in front of our home. The three flowerbeds were completely overgrown, but the team efficiently cleared out all the existing plants and materials, gutted the flower beds, and laid down new liners. They expertly filled in and planted new flowers, and also took care of re-doing the borders on all the beds. Throughout the 2 1/2 days of work, the team made sure to keep the work area clean, leaving the front of our house looking presentable every day until the project was completed. Punctuality, professionalism, and attention to detail were evident in their work ethic, which I truly appreciated. In terms of both price and quality, I was extremely satisfied with the results. Brian even went the extra mile by swapping out a focal point tree that we had initially chosen because it didn't meet his high standards after being planted. That level of dedication and commitment to perfection impressed me. I highly recommend Brian and his team (JJ, Carl, & Kirk) to anyone looking to update their landscaping but not sure where to begin. They also placed Sod in our backyard in the same timeframe. From start to finish, they were helpful, knowledgeable, and delivered excellent results. I couldn't be happier with the transformation of our landscaping.
After moving to Ringgold I quickly realized that I had not been told about a drainage issue which turned the backyard into a giant mud pit every time it rained . Four different companies looked at the problem and offered a plan to alleviate the problem. Brian from Ray Lawns proposed what I thought to be by far the best solution and with the lowest quote to do the job. In addition to being who I felt was the most qualified to install a French Drain he provided references for similar projects Ray Lawns has done which was a big help in decision making on who to use. The project included installing the French Drain, connecting gutter downspouts to a separate drain pipe, installing sod in areas damaged due to the installation and also grading and seeding the rest of the back yard. They also cleaned a drainage ditch at the back boundary of the lot which was full of debris and preventing water from draining away from the lot. During the project I was very impressed with JJ and Carl and their work ethic. They worked extremely quickly and diligently at all times. It was a true team effort on their part. After all of the work was completed I purchased a half pallet of sod and installed it. Ray Lawns came back and added more seed and an extra pallet and a quarter of sod at no extra cost. My yard will look better that it has in a long time after all the seeded areas are grown. I am extremely happy with the service provided by Ray Lawns and the expert job they did.

Fast, professional, snd good work.
Ray Lawns did an exemplary job on our 700 sq ft flower bed. This was an extremely hard job bc it contained mondo grass which had been taken over by nutsedge which is a very invasive wild grass. After a 2wk period of spraying to kill the roots the guys had to dig that sq footage up by hand, put down landscape material, then covered it with beautiful landscape rock. We r 100% pleased with the quality of their work and would highly recommend them for all of your landscaping needs.

The crew was at our home the next day. Took 2 days to finish the large project..will call on them again. Cut back overgrown Pyracantha bushes an holly bushes, hauled them off an cleaned up.
We had a big job with multiple areas and flower beds. They did a great job executing our visions and were very quick.
Having just moved to Ooltewah within the last year, I needed topsoil and yard build up. I called a company out of Decatur and they put top soil down and that was it. It was cloddy, unlevel and all around terrible job. I then contacted Brian from Rays Lawn and he came out and ensured me he could make it right, made suggestions and immediately I was captured by his genuine sense of caring for his customers and a doing the job right. Boy did he live up to that. He and his crew (Uncle Robert and Louis) showed up Saturday ready to work. It was highly coordinated work, he smoothed my previous top soil with a Harley rake, put new sifted top soil down, seeded and fertilized. I think I have a new best friend. This fellow is the go to company for your lawn needs. If you are skeptical on lawn work, please use Rays Lawn. YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPPOINTED.
Dont think I can say enough good things about Ray Lawns. Bryan and his crew installed about 6,000 square feet of new fescue sod in my backyard. They prepared rough, rocky ground for the sod, provided the amount of topsoil needed, and laid the sod. Their work was timely, professional, and the crew was always very courteous. My neighbors have been very complimentary, saying things like your backyard looks like a carpet. The companys price was reasonable, and their work far exceeded my expectations. They even returned after several weeks to replace a few pieces of the sod that didnt grow as planned.... In these times, its great to see a locally owned company that is conscientious and takes pride in its workmanship. I will definitely use Ray Lawns for future landscaping projects. I highly recommend this company for anyone who has landscaping needs.

I hired Ray Lawns to work on my flower bed. Brian called me to confirm I was satisfied with the work. I told him I was happy but mentioned some extra weed barrier cloth that was bunched up and needed to be cut and covered with mulch . He told me they would be out the following week to finish up. Four weeks later and no one has been out. I have called and text 4 times with little or no response.
Its difficult in these times to find contractor or lawn people that genuinely care and want to do a job wright they have gone above and beyond to fix my water problem, they stuck to their word and guarantee their work Thanks

Ray Lawns does an incredible job on all of my investment properties. Not only do they do a great job on maintaining the lawns, but when one of my properties had septic tank issues, Brian and his team came over right away and smoothed out the mess left by the septic company. I just have to say, they have NEVER disappointed me. If you are shopping for a reliable, quick, value for lawn expertise with an eye for quality do yourself a favor and just make the call to them! You will not regret it. The owner and his wife are kind, helpful, and know what they are doing! I bought a new home that was overgrown and I needed some non cookie cutter services with a project in the back and they said yes we can do it! Their prices are competitive, fair, and the quality is spot on! I truly truly can t say ANYTHING bad, only GREAT things about this company, owners, and their hard workers! All I can say is thank you. I m currently getting an aeration and seeding for the spring. I m beyond excited! For clarification on my lawn, it s weed ridden and some grass here and there that has been neglected for years. I m in process of making it a nice lawn for next year! They believe I can choke out the weeds instead of the expensive options of killing all the weeds or even sod. I trust them! And might I just say, hiring a local business they have an attention to detail that I just don t see in big companys. I will forever be a customer!!! Again, you WILL NOT REGRET CHOOSING THEM!! I have had several different jobs for them and each time they have done a wonderful job at a very reasonable rate - trimming limbs off trees, putting rock in the flower beds and several other projects and each one has been done to the highest standards. I have used other services at ridiculous costs but I could not really tell any difference in the yard but after Brian has taken responsibility for our yard it has never looked so good! Called into Rays after no upkeep all winter. Our mower couldnt get fixed in time. They came out and gave me an estimate the same day and fit me in the day after that! Brian at Ray Lawns has been landscaping my property for over 3 years and have always been impressed with his professionalism, timeliness and pride in his work. Brian has helped me with a multitude of landscaping projects over the years from, installing emerald green arborvitae trees, tree and shrub trimming, fire pit border and mulch installation, seasonal back yard maintenance and debris clean up and just helping in maintaining the amount of water the yard needs as the temperature and season changes. I wouldnt trust anyone else with the maintenance and care of my lawn. This is a small business owner who is doing it the right way.

Usually I dont write reviews, however this is my second review of Ray Lawns. Brian and Mrs. Ray have been out to our home appx. 4 times now and I am thoroughly impressed with their professionalism. The reason for this review is to comment on a landscaping solution they came up with recently that saved me a few hundred dollars. My yard pretty much sits on top of a bed of boulders that were barely covered with dirt and grass after the subdivision was excavated and laid out. Many spots (giant rocks) started to crown over the years and the boulders were wreaking havoc with my mowers. They also looked horrible and created bald patches in the yard. Initially I was looking to have someone build up a few inch layer of dirt and then try and level that out and seed. To do this right and not have my lawn look lopsided with a bunch of mounds that stood out would have cost a lot more that what actually fixed the problem. Brian calls and says he has a solution...dude came out with a sledge hammer! HAHA! 3 hours no more boulders Saved me a ton of money I can now use on other areas of the yard. I ll be using RayLawns for years to come. You guys do great work! Thanks!! T. Wilson
